Dead hunter is identified

Wanmer’s body was recovered Dec. 5 in a forested area of Bleecker, Fulton County.
The search began the night before when members of a hunting camp called authorities, saying Wanmer was overdue from an afternoon hunt.
Rangers searched throughout the night, found tracks and personal items left by Wanmer. The next morning they found his body in the Shaker Mountain Wild Forest area.
The Fulton County coroner said Wanmer wasn’t shot and there’s no evidence that the death was a hunting accident or other suspicious occurrence.
According to an obituary for Wanmer from the Glenville Funeral Home, Wanmer had battled acute myeloid leukemia in 1997.
