Dawson Vest: 21-year-old Austin, Indiana man dies in train, car crash

A 21-year-old man whose car was hit by a train Monday night in Jackson County, Indiana, has died, according to state police.
Dawson A. Vest, of Austin, Indiana, was driving his Nissan on County Road 775 South, just west of U.S. 31, about 6:30 p.m. Monday when, for an "unknown reason," he car entered a railroad crossing into the path of a northbound CSX train, per an Indiana State Police news release.
The train crashed into the driver's side of the car, causing the Nissan to overturn and ejecting Vest from the vehicle, state police said.
Vest was airlifted to a Louisville hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to Indiana State Police.
