DA, ActionSA boycott Tshwane council sitting to elect Speaker

The Democratic Alliance (DA) and its coalition partners, ActionSA, Freedom Front-Plus, and ActionSA boycotted the Tshwane council meeting on Monday, leading to a postponement of the gathering which was intended to elect a Speaker of the council. The council meeting did not constitute a quorum with the absence of the coalition partners. The only political parties present were the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), African National Congress (ANC), and a minority of other parties.
