Margao: The people of Curtorim are all set to object the setting up of the camp of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) at the one lakh sqm land of the Leprosy Hospital transferred to the Goa Police by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS).
The villagers of Curtorim say that the IRB camp project will not benefit the locals in any way and thus defeat the purpose for which the huge land was donated to the leprosy hospital centuries ago.
This reporter gathered that the demarcation of the land for the said project was carried out and that the police department is trying to go ahead with the proposal, which the then chief minister, late Manohar Parrikar has assured to scrap it after local legislator, Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco has raised the issue in the assembly.
