Irs commissioner charles reg. Vice president pence and members of the White House Coronavirus task force held a briefing about the development and distribution of a Coronavirus Vaccine and measures americans could take to protect themselves before a vaccine was available. This is one hour. Good afternoon. We just completed our second eeting this week with members of the White House Coronavirus continued. And weve weve continued to be on the sail mission weve been on hroughout the course of this year and that is to save american lives. To work every day toward that put the coronavirus in the past. m joined today, and you will hear in a few moments, from members of the White House Coronavirus task force including those leading the effort of vaccinations, under operation warp speed, and i think you will be as impressed as i was, at fema earlier today, heard the detailed plans for the virtual Immediate Distribution of vaccines when and become approved available to the American People. From very early in this pandemic president s direction weve followed an approach to this pandemic that was federally state managed and locally executed. And to that end this past monday completed our 4 isst Conference Call with all of the governors. Every state, every territory. About our current circumstances where we see cases and hospitalizations rising but continue to speak to of at the expansion timing. Availability of supplies and our ongoing efforts to continue to toward the D Development and the distribution of a vaccine for the American People. As we gather here today, with cases and hospitalizations across the country, President Trump directed us to describe briefing to the ongoing work of our task force and our partnership with officials and our partners in the private sector to continue to put the america first. First, let me begin simply by and our at our hearts prayers are with all of those families that have been impacted coronavirus over the course of the past 10 months. Not a day personally has gone by that i havent thought personally about lost loved t have ones and i want to assure each of you that you will always be and you will remain in our prayers. But we wanted to take this to thank the so American People. For the extraordinary sacrifices hat you have made over the course of the past 10 months. Weve been through a lot together. To slow hrough 45 days the spread, back when the this vity rate across country was more than 20 . We managed to accomplish our objective. We slowed the super. We flattened the curve. We saved lives, and then during outbreak across the sunbelt this summer when we saw to nearly 10 officials n people, stepped up again and we put that and even asthe past we see help on the way, vaccines being developed at a historic i mentioned before, as we gather today were seeing ity rising ositive across the country. Know the American People know what to do. We have forged a partnership seamless with state and local health authorities. And as well describe to you continued to work seven days a week all throughout this year and up to this very make sure the American People have access to the healthcare that we would want member of our family to have as we meet this pandemic. Ases are rising throughout the country. Positivity in the last 30 days average of 5 an end weve d to that continued the mobilization that began at President Trumps direction earlier this year. Increased toasting from a standing start in the month of ebruary to now as of today weve completed more than 170 million tests and we continue to tests including an at home test that the f. D. A. Just recently approved and were distributing more than 150 million of the tests to schools and Nursing Homes around america as we speak. Our mobilization of supplies, you will hear described in great detail, continues to surge each and every day. Ppee actually able to track and supplies on a hospital by ospital basis, and so were carefully monitoring, were working with state officials, administrators, to make sure that our hospitals have the support they need. Than 140 gather more Clinical Trials for therapeutics continue to be under way but therapies are already available. Widely known among the american the e and for those over age of 70, were proud to report that we actually have decreased fatality rate by more than 0 since those heartbreaking days of april. In may of this year, of course, as the president spoke last week garden, we launched operation warp speed. Accelerating the development, the manufacture, and the distribution of a safe vaccine, and you will have an update today on the leading from two of our experts and those that are coordinating operation warp speed. Hat i want to say in the midst of all of this to the american eople as we begin this briefing, is that with the massive increase in testing over months, with ppe and medical supplies and equipment that are available to the with the eople, medicines and the therapeutics the vaccines that are available, america has never been more prepared to combat virus than we are today. Our pledge to each and every looking on today is were going to work around the clock to keep it that way. Make sure that hospitals that are seeing patients coming in on an increasing basis know that were to work around the clock to meet that need. Nd you have our continuing pledge, and the practice of experience that weve had along the way. Moments, you will hear from members of our team. Deborah in with dr. Birx, who will describe what ere seeing in the rising case literally every day. Members of the task force wins Detailed Analysis of whats happening across the country and shell give you our very best on rising cases and hospitalizations. That information is summarized week for the nations governors and provided o them in particular detail as well. After dr. Birx speaks weve asked general David Sanford with update on oure an ppe ing efforts to provide and medical supplies to our hospital needs. Were literally going to make sure, as i said, that as we see cases rising, that were meeting the needs in hospitals around america to stand up to the esponse that any one of us would want a Family Member to be able to have access to. Then weve asked dr. Fauci to us an update on the incredible and historic progress on the development of vaccines. Seems like with good news happening every couple of days. To a great encouragement the American People, and then distribution our speed. On operation warp i was at fema today and received information, and i make that o come and presentation to the American People it is in a very real putting us into a position that literally the day after one approved, ccines is well be shipping vaccines to within acan people and well be seeing those vaccines infected into americans with particularly a focus on those most vulnerable those that are providing healthcare to the American People. Finally, well talk a bit about the way forward, as state local governments are continuing to act and take measures to slow the spread. Assure them as we did with the governors that well support them at the local level support decisions that are made in each individual ommunitybased on the circumstances on the ground. With that being said President Trump wanted me to make it clear our task force, this administration, and our president , does not support lockdown. Tional and we do not support closing schools. From dr. Robert redfield of the cdc, that the cdc never recommended that we close schools at any point this year, eleanor katz, who Substance Abuse and Mental Health services will describe the real cost to being away from school. Cases y one of these well give you the best information that we have up to his moment and i just want to assure the American People that you will have a sense today that were going to around the work clock, and we have confidence that in a short period of time could have one or more safe, effective vaccines for the American People and as each of our part, in partnership with state and local officials, part to lookes our after our own families an our own communities, i believe the day is coming soon when well this coronavirus virus in the past. With that let me introduce dr. Birx, who will update us cases and after that well get a presentation on weilability of supplies that continue to make available to healthcare d providers around the country. Thank you, mr. Vice president , and its really a we want to call on every american to increase their vigilance. Go through some data about why were asking people through , nevada, denver, colorado, from texas, phia to el paso, and across this great nation to increase their vigilance at this moment. Thank the governors, mayors and county commissioners that ive had the privilege to 4 1 2 over the last months of being on the road. Ou can have the first slide, please. The number of universities, 42 states, 30 university, and a of chair men from tribal nation. We want to understand the reality on the ground what they understand how we could be more supportive. Action really a call to for every american, to increase their vigilance because of the here. C thats shown i wanted to show you the difference in slopes between the the summer summer and the fall summer. So the American People know that cases, more rapidly, than what we had seen before. Clear like make it before, we do know what to do, asking every american to do those things today. Our ext slide shows increase in test positivity. The light brown bars are the of tests that were performed but even with the number, ever increasing number performed you can see the increase in test positivity to around 10 . Some areas of the country, it is much higher than that, and it ongoing es the Community Spread in your counties, in your small and metro, and in your rural areas. The ext slide really shows country as a whole, and why to e asking every american remain vigilant. To do those things that weve all to do, no wear a mask, to physically distance, to continue your hand hygiene. Of really, in this moment bringing people together, to interactions indoors to immediate households when we see this level of spread. Ty behind this level of community asymptomatic t of cases. People are spreading the virus because they dont know they are virus, and so the people are coming together indoors, everyone looks healthy, but among those individuals could be individuals that are infected. Have no symptoms and are virus ngly spreading the to others. Its because of this asymptomatic spread that weve mask people to wear a indoors, and to ask people to we are a mask when among others. We go indoorswhen and were with friends an family if you look e that okay you are okay. And now we know that over 50 of individuals, particularly among those under 35, many could unknowingly and spreading the virus. This virus increased so rapidly there was an unusual cold snap that began in the and went down through the heartland. The end of september and the beginning of october large of people moved indoors so weve been going across the really tell them, in the Midatlantic States and the northeast to increase testing for these asymptomatic cases, and i really want to hank the governors across this great land who have heeded that call nd set up what we sentinel population, whether i home staff, k through 12 and college teachers, county businesses to ic really have routine weekly testing so we can see the spread to the zip s down code and really combat that with additional mitigation. Shows what we about en talking about, the level of hospitalization. In the slide you can see hospitalizations by the darkness of the color. Just want to make it clear what the Vice President talked about. We now can see every admission and i want to thank the hospitals who from july have data and ng us that improving that data and working ith the cdc so we can see new admissions, inpatient status, icu status and we can see who is admitted by age groups. Right now its about 5050 40 and 69 se between and those over 70. We have an see that some areas of the country in the hot red and bright pink, and darkest red, those states that have more than 21 are covid spitals pink is and the light between 16 and 20 and light orange between 12 and 15 but do see there are still states in the green areas, and to all of those states, that not seen this surge, to really increase your testing by setting omatics up these sentinel populations. The 45 days to stop each read and we asked state to follow the gating riteria, part of that included looking for asymptomatic cases. With these new antigen tests we to really pacity xpand testing to find those cases and stop the spread. In the meantime, as we started in , we stopped the surge the south through very targeted mitigation. Masks. Art with lets start with physical distancing, but also include friends and ose family gatherings where people come together and unknowingly virus. The i want to thank the mayors of and miami i city, county, they were the ones that really foundsummer how much asymptomatic spread was ccurring in household gatherings. And so as you bring together remember what the Vice President talked about. Every american needs to be this moment, because we know that when you are, we and stopate this virus the spread together. Birx. Ank you, dr. As you can see, particularly on can, we by state base i want the American People to know e have eyes on your local hospital. We know about admissions. We know about the availability about beds and we know supplies. From very early on, at the residents direction we stood up the greatest National Mobilization since world war ii an i want the American People to that continues until this moment, and general David Sanford, who has been with us of the way, is going of rief you on the status our supply chain and the reserves that we have in our make sure orts to that our hospitals and Healthcare Facilities have the the support to meet this moment. General . Mr. Vice president , thank you, sir. Thank you, maam. So were in a much better place to improve upon that capability. Youll see from the slides continuing to row our National Stockpile but also our fema stocks to meet the equirements of our state populations. We continue to expand upon the continue to ery to protect our population. The summer, weve grown times and s 10 to 15 continue to grow to meet the surge requirements that we may expect current case load. As you can see behind me, the column wemn or fourth have fourmonth surge capability based on current case diagnosis, from wearing m95 masks. Added every ing month. The strategic National Stockpile ready to a stocks are be the backstop when our states thats assistance and all built upon a foundation after a strong domestic medical industrial base. Weve been able to expand upon or build, in some cases, almost from scratch, our defense produ challenges ao grow the states stockpiles. Relates to our federal Emergency Management mandate of local execution, state support. T, and federal as you saw in the previous slide and as you will see on this between d coated map, our states and the federal government, we color coated map, between our states and the federal government, we stand in a better position than we did a certainly four or five months ago, to meet the surging ppe demands of our and this is not something were sitting on and continuing to watch. Its something that were grow upon and continuously analyze so that we increases ead of the and make sure that were ppe on ng, and we have a the way, to meet the surge in cases. It over to dr. Fauci. Well done. With that im going to invite dr. Tony fauci to come up and his thoughts on the development of the vaccine which butiving us such great hope i trust that the panels that you just showed us encourage the to know that e were going to continue to work around the clock to make sure hospital has the resources and the supplies that moment. D to meet this i think we all know that we ultimately put this pandemic we have a st the day safe and effective vaccine. Weve been making historic through operation warp speed, with our private partners, and dr. Tony fauci and nih have been absolutely integral to that i asked dr. Update you on the status of Vaccine Development and then well have the general, coordinating the with bution plan, working every state and territory in america to be ready on day one the vaccine as soon as they are available to give you a brief outline on that plan. Dr. Fauci . Viceank you very much, mr. President. As i was sitting there i was recalling that about seven or months ago i stood at this exact spot, at a time when there an extraordinary surge in cases in the northeast part of the country in new york city, and i said that if the was left to its own devices it would cause a considerable degree of devastation. Thats what viruses do. Its a very powerful force and youve heard about that and what about from it dr. Birx. However, i also said, if some of ou can remember, there is an opposing force to that and that opposing force is us. Being able to do certain things, like mitigation with Public Health measures. Which was just mentioned, by dr. Birx. But there is another opposing that, and thats a vaccine, and historically, if at highly every occasions and effective vaccines, through the years, crushed formidable smallpox, like measles. In the next couple of minutes about what we have now and what will happen in the next few months. Speed know operation warp has been supporting directly and indirectly six candidate of which are either in or completed phase three clinical trial. Tell you aboutly two of them because you have to interested in this. It is extraordinarily impressive. The vaccines, one by oderna and one by the company pfizer, have completed trials nd the efficacious vaccine efficacy point is extraordinary. Ith regard to pfizer, it was 95 efficacious, not only gainst disease thats just clinically recognizable disease, but severe disease. Were 10 cases of severe disease. Vaccine, nine in the placebo, for the moderna trial 94. 5 efficacious. 11 severe events. Zero in the vaccine. 11 in the placebo. Acquainted you not with this field thats extraordinary. Almost to the level of what we see with measles, which is 98 effective. So thats what were dealing with. How uestion is, what about thats going to be rolled out . I use the word efficacious. That means what happens in a clinical trial. The word effective means what ultimate impact of that vaccine is going to be on you ty, and the only way can get an Effective Program is when people take the vaccine, to be talking to you about that, and i hear a lot now, when we made these this past monday, and then two mondays ago, about some reticence of people. Did you rush this . Was this too fast . Is it really safe and is it efficacious . The process of the speed did not safety, nor t all did it compromise scientific integrity. A reflection of the extraordinary scientific advances in these types of which allowed us to do things in months that actually took years before. Really want to settle that concern that people have about that. The decision of the data . Who looked at the data . That was ome force maybe trying to put something over on you . No. An independent body of people who have no allegiance to anyone. Administration, not to me. Not to the companies. That looked at the data and it to be sound. Now, that data will be examined f. D. A. , efully by the who, together, with an advisory ommittee, the vaccine and related biological products, hey will look at that before the f. D. A. Makes the decision about putting this forth for or gency use authorization ultimately for a license. O we need to put to rest any con september that this was rushed in an inappropriate way. Solid. Really now, what does that mean for us . Now, as the Vice President aid, are telling you that help is on the way. Which has two aspects to it. Need to that we actually double down on the Public Health measures as were help to come, t which will be soon. Ell be getting vaccine doses into team at high priority at the end of december. Were not talking about shutting down the country. Were not talking about locking down. Talking about intensifying the simple Public Health about. S that we all talk mask wearing. Avoiding nce, congregant settings. Doing things to the extent that indoors. Tdoors versus if we do that well be able to old things off until the vaccine comes. Now, i have used that metaphor way. The calvary is on the if youre fighting a battle and the calvary is on the way you stop shooting. You keep going until the calvary and then you might want continue fighting. Thing ally, one other about it. 95 , ficacy, 94. 5 and should motivate individuals to realize that this is something to participate in. So were going to be talking to you about it likely here in the why its important, as these vaccine doses roll out. Two things. Continue to Public Health measure, and get vaccinated when becomes available. Hank you schulte mr. Vice president , thank you very much for this opportunity. Ive been asked to highlight the vaccine. Ion of the as just talked about by dr. Vice and before that, president pence. Were here today because our clear. Was and our mission to my coleader, responsible eavily for our success, were here focused on e we developing, manufacturing, and istributing a safe and effective vaccine and therapeutics to the American People. Clear. Pose is really save lives, and its driven to us this end stage and thats why today. Here a couple of things as we get started in our planning. Ill tell you that the planning began almost immediately ceremony in the rose garden. Started talking development, manufacturing and distribution. Its not a thought that weve in the last two weeks. Its required extensive planning by a tailed work collaboration of individuals, which ill talk about. We decided upings front. One, we were going to be able to vaccine within 24 hours after e. U. A. Distribution to the entire United States of america, to include territories and metropolitan cities. A , we started with foundation of expertise. Best at s the very planning and executing vaccines. On of we took their core confidency, nd we aligned with it the capability of planners, project anagers, and those who could run campaigns, and together, his organization has come up with our strategy for distribution. Third, we took the capacity of the industry and we brought them the fold. E wanted to utilize the capability and capacity thats already established in america, has a proven track record. That knows how to distribute vaccines. Nuances of ands the u. Mat cold chain rirpts. Pfizer, f we brought fedex, cvs, s. , walgreen and hundreds of others that we would come up with the best solutions because our only care. It wasnt about egos and it wasnt about credit. How do we solve this complex problem . It was clear immediately meetings our initial with industry, that we had to my a full collaboration to fourth point, with the jurisdictions and the states. They had to be a big part of our planning sequence so together, ows, cdc, industry, and the states and jurisdictions came up plan that im going to talk to you about here shortly. The effort thats almost so common, that you will recognize it because we do it year. We do it when we distribute vaccines. We do it when other vaccines are distributed. The difference is now were pushing mass volume of a new vaccine. We needed to have a strategy that was collaborated t all levels with all organizations in order to execute. The last thing we needed to do a system too create see ourselves. We had to be able to see inside territory, state, metropolitan city, understand was, from fillne finish site to distribution warehouses, down to so not ration sites, only could we maintain the flow of vaccine but we could account vaccine that was being administered. Keep the flow to the American People at a steady drum beat. Go forward, first slide, please, well distribute the vaccine accordingly. Ill direct you to the right slide. The this is our instate. This is where we want the vaccines to be. Down at thevaccines places where the American People comfortable, at our hospitals, our doctors offices, walgreens, down at the Healthcare Facilities. Laces where people are comfortable going. So thats where we start and stayed. Then went back to pfizer and moderna. We laid out the guidelines i you and with the collaboration of them, and the commercial industry for came up with we our plan. Its relatively simple. The Pfizer Vaccine. They are capable of distributing on their own. Fedex and tilize u. P. S. In order to execute distribution. Simultaneously, well ship ncillary kits, needles, syringes, alcohol wipes, and the dilutant required for the meet the vaccine at the instate facilities that were talking about. Moderna vaccine, what were going to do is were going to with the e vaccine ancillary kits at a distribution warehouse. Were going to put them together were going to distribute through fedex and our. Down to administration sites. So, in simple terms were taking it from phil finish. Were bringing together all the administering r the vaccine and then were to the it down distribution sites. Any place that a state wants to administer the vaccine, as long they are enrolled, right . We can process, distribute the vaccine. We can distribute the pfizer accine at a minimum of 975 doses, and the Moderna Vaccine at a minimum of a hundred doses. Place in the ne state or 10,000 places in the state. Capacity lity and the exists because we came together whole of america approach. It is this effort that i can and say to the face you, 24 hours later the vaccine be distributed out to the American People and ready. To this end, our mission is, stated, safe and effective vaccines to the American People, and we need to do it in the most timely manner possible. Because it is all about lives. President. Mr. Vice how many kits have already been Vice President , we already have over a million need forthe kits well Pfizer Vaccine as well as the moderna. Thank you. And, from the time President Trump announced operation warp the general and his team have been working literally round the clock to build the Distribution Plan that you see thats in effect and i hope you all heard that i asked him how have been se kits for merging with the moderna project and they have already assembled a hundred million kits that are ready to got. Thats the supplies that are necessary for administering the vaccine. Tell you, having received my latest briefing today over at operation warp speed every american can be proud of we have a plan in lace, the moment that the f. D. A. Concludes that that vaccine is safe and effective, in place to tem begin within 24 hours shipping that vaccine to hospitals and Healthcare Facilities and 24 after that literally that vaccine into americans, and well also be continuing to develop the prioritization, working with states, about their plans and cdc will redfield of reflect on that as well in a moment. Our ill create recommendation for priorities of who is to be minimized, but if is a teacher, we know that well focus on those most our rable, well focus on healthcare workers, and first at the early going, ut its truly inspiring to me to see the incredible work that operation warp speed has done thank youl, i want to for your dedication. Weve at, as i said, continued from the very at a state operate level, state managed and executed. Ell continue to respect the decisions that state governments are making in efforts to slow spread. But to be very clear, president clear that en very e do not support another National Lockdown and does not necessary. Ts we wont. But that there have been some jurisdictions n around the country with regard to closing schools. People to american know that it is the position of this task force, of this of the cdc, n, and that we do not need to close our schools. Invite dr. Redfield to come forward to speak about that. Want to emphasize what hes reminded our task force of many times. Pandemic hasn this the cdc ever recommend closing schools. And the more weve learned about this virus the more its simply affirmed that. We think our kids belong in the classroom. Absolutely committed to continue to provide resources teachers, our ur safely ers, can safely, get back to school. With that let mo introduce dr. With him, dr. Eleanor who is an extra ordinary leader. About the to speak unintended consequences of out of the kids america, and und then ill have the secretary and some closing remarks. Redfield . Mr. Vice ou, president. I think its first important for e to emphasize what youve heard already, were not virus. Less against this masks work. Social distancing works. Hand washing works. Eing smart about crowds, particularly indoors, works. Birx said, of testing, to tontify the silent epidemic, identify the asymptomatic infections so they can be pulled transmission cycle works. Another point that i want to to follow t we need the data. E should be making data driven decisions when we talk about what were doing for doing tions, what were for commercial closures. Mentioned, as was school not recommend closures, nor did we recommend closures today. Back in the spring, there was limited data. Today, there is extensive data. We have. Weve gathered over the last two confirm thaths, to k through 12 schools can operate facetoface learning and they an do it safely and can do it responsibly. The infections that weve dentified in the schools when they have been evaluated, were not acquired in schools. In were actually acquired the community and in the households. Our bigs dr. Birx said, threat for transmission is not the public square. Gatherings. Amily family gatherings where people become more comfortable. Masks, ove their face and they get together and its this silent epidemic that begins transmit. But its not intraschool transmission. Kids k throughor 12 one of the safest places they can be, from our perspective, is remain this school. To follow important the data, making sure we dont decisions about what to close and what not to lose, and im here to say clearly the data strongly that k through 12 schools as well as institutions of higher learning, really are were having our challenges, and it would be counterproductive from my point health from a public point of view, just in containing the epidemic if there was an emotional response to say, lets close the schools. Wanted to echo what vice en said by the president and dr. Fauci. Light at the the end of the tunnel. And this is why now more than said by dr. Birx, dr. Than and myself, now more ever were asking all americans, americans to redouble their fforts to be vigilant to mbrace social distancing, hand washing, our advice about crowds support using the data to make decisions in the communities, particularly as and es to k through 12 institutes of higher learning. These clearly, data support, really important from a Public Health perspective, as well the pandemic as, what youll hear about in a minute that these schools stay open. Want to end on a of confidence, that im confidence that were going to emerge successful and an end. Is pandemic to i dont have any doubt on that. Need, we need all in. S to go all go all in with face coverings, washing, istancing, hand smartness about crowds, doing to identify the silent epidemic, and i have confidence at the end of the day well get achievable goal which is to get this pandemic under control. Thank you, mr. Vice president. Thank you, mr. Vice president. In my role as assistant Mental Health and Substance Use i feel very strongly about the need to protect and promote the mental of all americans. As a psychiatrist im continually thinking about the of this alth effects unprecedented situation and how best to mitigate the impact. Individuals across our country are living with stress that they experienced. Never we must find a way to best alleviate that stress without fact that our nation faces a very real and deadly virus. Think about this, in the context of our countrys children. Substance abuse and Mental Health services which is the , only federal agency whose primary charge is addressing abuse and substance disorders across the country. Where better to start in addressing this challenge than nations young people. Tering ing and also foss the wellbeing of children is not only to their development but also to the development of healthy fall list, communities, and healthy a productive society. The work that schools and school is valuable daily beyond any words i can deliver. E know that in addition to education, schools provide our children a profound sense of stability. D of structure and safety of schools are integral for our health. Ns the role of the school cant be overstated. However, we also cannot need to address the fear. Uncertainties and safety considerations with return to school. Understand that parents and teachers may feel great anxiety. Put into we must place the Safety Measures we know work. We must use masks. We must enforce social distancing. Employ creative and innovative ways to limit the number of children and teachers building at any given time. There are tools we have and we how best to rough use them to keep our schools open. Over 7. 4 million children in this country live emotional s disturbances, and over 60 receive services from the school system. We know that children with disabilities are losing ground with the closure of schools. We know that millions of children across the country are experiencing child abuse and ect, that goes unedited undetected. We must Work Together to address these issues. I believe strongly that we need schools to open in communities data indicates its safe to do so but we cant forget the protection of our teachers and school staff. They dont feel its safe to return to work, it will not help to open schools. Ensure that teachers, school staff and parents are weaged in the solutions that ultimately choose. Just as im suggesting, that we our teachers, i suggest also that we recognize the very real Mental Health may derations of what you have heard called pandemic fatigue. Of americans all over the country in slowing spread of the virus is a strategy we should all consider. Again, we know masks work but we know that some americans arent compliantay not be as as we would like. This is gravely frustrating for rather than ls but punishing or sanctioning, what if we employ a different technique. Recognize the psychological aspects of the atigue and try to reinforce positive behavior, with rewards rather than socially sanction behavior. Em to be bad for example, we know that compliance on College Campuses as been a challenge, and individuals in this age group are a potential source of spread. Hat if colleges i am me mountained a random award system for mask wearing. As could be as simple implementering a small gift card being given out to a student wearing a mask. Technique has had great uccess in the behavioral healthcare treatment communities. I offered a consideration which psychological aspects of our life changes. I want to conclude by saying hat the physical effects of coronavirus are very real. And this virus has brought along with it stress, anxiety, and fear, that you may have never felt before. Covid19 has brought devastating loss of life to families across nation. And in addition to those who infectionlives to the itself, there are those of who you have what i call deaths in your family. These are not deaths by infection. By suicide, or death by Drug Overdose during this pandemic. Not e know that weve forgotten you or your loss. Your loss is great. And my job is to do all i can to prevent additional families from experiencing that loss. O the parents and teachers who are afraid and confused, that fear and anxiety is real and stressful. People who are without a job and unsure of your next step, your stress is real, too. The stress of the situation can often feel too great to handle nd we take very seriously the need to ensure that all americans know that there is and there is hope. Were doing all we can to ensure healthcare tal system in our nation remains open and ready to serve. As you struggle with these great stressors especially during the oliday season, please try to stay connected to loved ones. Lease reach out to friends and family, and please know that the National Suicide prevention help at is available to any time. 8002738225. Critically health is important, and we want to do all we can to protect it. Thank you, mr. Vice president. Its good to see all of you. Doctors have well covered the serious state of the epidemiological evidence that we and they have talked about the steps that we can and should be taking, but they have also about the steps that arent evidencebased that we now.
