What we look at for some thing like this is Something Like 70 million is a lot of money to raise but thats for 200 Million Dollars of economic impact. We look at this has a big opportunity to not only fuse money into the local economy but also of a chance to show off the city. We are a city that is fighting back. We have a lot of poverty in the city. Mayor is toas create family supporting jobs and make this a safe city. Conventioni love the , i cant ask our property taxpayers to pay it. We are hopeful this convention will serve to create jobs in the hospitality area, and transportation, and providing a lot of the and a lot of the amenities required. Have Small Businesses prosper. We think this is an opportunity to showcase all milwaukee has to offer. Have fact we are going to 200 million of economic benefits in this community through this convention, we want to make sure that we get 18 of those receipts, that we are able to pour back into the community, including women, lgbtq , and its going to take a lot of work to do that. We know the restaurants and filled. Nues will be creating aing at portal where people of all kinds of services can sign up and we can sign places for caterers, people who can provide flowers, insurancests Services Legal services that we are making one of those things that its going to be a lot of work, but its one of those things im leaning on heavily. For the first time in the history of the city, for time in the history of the state we will be a host to a Major Political Party National convention. Fromdvice im getting other mayors is to make sure we have a good inplace Transportation System that we available. We are certain he hoping congress will allocate 50 to 55 million and help us with security costs. Heavilywill do is rely on our Milwaukee Police department. Departments police in wisconsin. If history is any indicator we will be calling on other jurisdictions throughout the nation that will perhaps allow us to use some of their police officers, because the security concerns are so serious. I know this is something that has been done in the past. Milwaukee, we have taken part in this. The federal grant is to make sure local property taxpayers arent bearing the cost. I think over the years i have watched conventions, here milwaukee will be my fifth, i have seen conventions evolve in a number of ways. There are more ancillary events happening with them. End of the day they are the same political where we are working to nominate candidates were people are coming together to unite behind our Party Platform and really set the groundwork for the general election. We know a 40 convention isnt going to be the savior. There is going to be a spotlight on the community. Its also going to be a spotlight on the challenges we have. We want to mobilize people here that we can put our best foot forward and give people here and Economic Opportunity that will prosper in the long run. Both democrats and republicans in this city and groups thatwith will make this successful. We have to make sure we are real and up, that we can come together as a group and put on a convention. I think any convention will have the opportunity to uncover some obstacles. I know milwaukee is able to handle a convention of this size. We put our best foot forward and show we can overcome whatever obstacle may be in our place to introduce what i think will be one of the best democratic National Conventions we have seen.
