The greatest shooting in u. S. History occurred june 1, 19 1, in the greenwood section in the suburbs of tulsa, oklahoma. Over 300 black people were shot and killed. Washington post has this analysis piece already up, americas deadliest shooting he wants are getting much more deadly. They write here, the mass shooting that killed at least 50 people in las vegas on sunday night was the worst in modern american history. Police suspect that Stephen Paddock fired on the crowd at a Country Music concert indiscriminately from his hotel room window, killing dozens and injuring hundreds more. It seems as though we only just experienced another deadly mass shooting in american history. Its because we did. About 16 months ago, omar mateen killed 49 people in orlando after pledging allegiance to the islamic state. Before that, the record was held by the mass shooting at Virginia Tech university in 2007, in which 32 people were killed. They look at a timeline of the incidents, of these incidents, and they say that the trend shows that the death toll from these shootings has increased dramatically, according to the post. They go on to write that obviously any new deadliest incident, they put it in quotes here, will have more deaths than the ones that came before, from 1949 to 1991, though the increase in the number of deaths was only 9. Shooting at Virginia Tech was more than double that. The killings in orlando added 17 more deaths to the total. How many will end up as victims in las vegas isnt yet known, but its already twice the toll of the deadliest shooting in history as of 11 years ago. Host yeah, tell us tell us what you heard or saw anything in the local news, or in person. What was it like in las vegas last night when this happened . Caller well, where i live, i live in a retired, retirement partmenten clave, if you will. Its got a security gate kind of situation, and theres a clubhouse where people get together and play cards and what have you. And i was leaving that little place, that venue that evening last evening with some neighbors when we heard the sirens that were a few miles away. Of course, we turned on the television, and thats when we got the whole thing. That was around 11 00. It was horrible. It was pretty bad, pretty bad. Didnt know what was going on for quite a while. The video that we saw were basically people smartphones, and they were shaky and wiggly, but you heard the one audio where you heard the automatic fire, and it was amazingly startled. I mean, this isnt like the movie. This is real, honest to god rapid fire, lots of bullets. So you know it was serious. My comment basically was, listen, im over 60. And i managed to get this far. I dont know how. Grace of god, if you will. But i want to just address one thing. Stress is a thing that we manufacture in our lives, and it becomes something really terrible. And it will eat your life up. It will eat your body up. And one of the bad things we have, one of the main stresses we have are what you would call a condition, called ptsd. And its a whiteknuckle ride. And i mean to tell you, ive had it for many decades, and i believe this man had it too. And something snapped in him. He played this scenario out in his head maybe over 100 times before he executed it. But he was pissed. Excuse my language. But he was bent. And inning we need to address these sorts of issues. Try to calm people down. Try to mellow them out. Try to get them to talk about whatever those problems are or whatever we can do to make it constructive. Weve had many callers call in about casino security and that kind of thing. What can you tell us about how things work there, how someone could make their way into a hotel like that with a gun . Caller well, they certainly could. I mean, youre looking at nevada. Evada is you can, for a very nominal price, you can purchase a license to carry a concealed weapon everywhere, except for maybe the courtroom. Or Something Like that. Now, theres a lot of Armed Security in each one of these casinos. And generally speaking, no one is coming here to shoot anybody up. This is the sort of thing you see on tv or bad movies, if you will. Who goes to the 32nd floor or something of a major hotel, a major hotel, that would have sensors on the walls or on the outside windows that would detect breaking or anything like that . And im not putting this out as news, but theres a tweet. We dont have to show it, but someone is tweeting, according to the latest reports in las vegas, police found 10 rifles or guns in his room. Is that something that youve heard . Caller yeah, i heard that. I heard that he had several weapons. So this is definitely something you look and the go, well, he liked weapons. But again, the ptsd, this person has stresses. He was looking to relieve stresses. If you know anybody that target practices, they enjoy it because the boom, the report, the concussion, the knockback, this physically removes a small amount of stress. It does. Like hitting a baseball or basketball or whatever you like. Theres something to do with it physically that helps you reduce stress. However, use Market Weapons or anything like that, thats meant for one reason, one thing only, and thats destruction. And the automatic weapons have destroyed people. Why would you use it to shoot targets .
