The coronavirus pandemic will have lasting and dramatic consequences on people’s living conditions, as graphically described by Adam Hanieh https://www.cadtm.org/This-is-a-Global-Pandemic-Let-s-Treat-it-as-Such. Humans are affected differently depending on their social class, their gender and sexual orientation, the country they live in, their age, their caste (in South Asia) and other factors. The various forms of oppression and exploitation will be amplified in many cases. All will be affected in one way or another. This is the first international crisis with such general and far-reaching effects all over the world within such a short lapse of time. (It is only three months since the official acknowledgement of an epidemic in Wuhan by the Chinese authorities). More will be affected than in the Second World War, not in terms of the death toll, which fortunately will be much lower, but in terms of the simultaneity of the crisis worldwide and the kind of measures implemented by governments.
