People wear masks in accordance with the city mandate while shopping downtown on Tuesday, December 15 in Sioux Falls.
The Sioux Falls City Council will consider a second extension of the city's mask mandate at their next meeting, with a plan to tie its expiration to the city's vaccination progress.
Councilor Rick Kiley said he and Councilor Curt Soehl would be bringing the ordinance to a first reading on March 2.
The mandate, which requires the wearing of a face covering inside "indoor retail businesses" and city-owned facilities where social distancing of six feet cannot be achieved, would be nearly identical to the one that's been in place since November, with the same exemptions and lack of a penalty for violating it.
