A Cotswolds woman has told of her heartbreaking grief when her 'low risk' pregnancy ended in the tragic death of her new born baby in a hospital maternity unit.
Sabina McFeely's delivery of 'beautiful' daughter Penelope quickly turned into an emergency at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and the baby died within 24 hours, a Gloucester inquest heard yesterday (July 1).
Questions were raised at the hearing about whether maternity staff acted quickly enough to deliver Penelope after it was realised that all was not well. But the coroner was told that even if the medics had managed to 'shave' five minutes off the response time the tragic outcome would have been the same.
