However, it turned out to be a misunderstanding of the regulations.
On Saturday, it became compulsory to wear a face covering on public transport and in indoor public spaces, with a penalty of a £100 fine for anyone who does not comply without an exemption.
‘It is clear that the community are supportive of these new regulations and the need to take appropriate steps to reduce the continued risk of infection,’ a spokesperson from Guernsey Police said.
