July, which certainly made it okay. For the former president to be engaging with his Justice Department Apartment to try to find ways to undermine the 2020 election. Thats the other thing that is on the attorney Generals Mind in some of the remarks here where he talks about the norms of the department and his effort to try to protect them and really the warning is wolf, if the former president does regain the White House if he wins the election in november and he cares through with his, with his with his vow to weaponize the Justice Department to go after his his critics, people including of Course Attorney general Garland And Anybody else on the democratic side . What the Attorney General is saying is that there are rules inside the department where anything that the former president tries to do will be known publicly. The Career Officials here inside the department are not going to just go along quietly. And so thats one of the reasons why you saw those Remarks Today from the Attorney General, not only addressing the way things are supposed to work inside the Justice Department, but also the fact that, you know, people are under attack for simply doing their jobs well and he did get emotional at the end when he gave a personal reference of why he believes so strongly in the Rule Of Law at the Justice Department and elsewhere here in the United States, when he spoke about the fact that his jewish grandparents escaped antisemitic pogroms in russia to come to the United States and start a new life. And that clearly has had a huge impact on him. He spoken about that before, right . Right. He has spoken about that before spoken about how much that motivates him and his, his work that dont hear the Justice Department also, of course, youll remember he was a federal judge for about 25 years. So all of those things are very personal to the Attorney General. And you could see could hear his voice cracking as he recalls those memories of why his family members, his his his his grandparents took refuge in the United States from eastern europe, wolf, it was a very emotional moment, indeed, very important speech by the Attorney General of the United States, evan, thank you very much. But of course, we will follow up today and much more coming up on the Attorney Generals remarks to our viewers. Thanks very much for joining me. Im Wolf Blitzer in the cnn newsroom. Ill be back later tonight for a special Twohour Edition of the Situation Room five to 7 00 p. M. Eastern. In the meantime, stay with us. Lots more news coming up on Inside Politics with dana bash, which starts right now Inside Politics, hitting the Road Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are back on the trail after 67 Million people watched that debate. Theyre aiming to mobilize voters and crucial Battleground States as polls show. This is a race that will be one by incredibly narrow margins plus i want to hear more. Thats how one Swing Voter in a Swing State is reacting think to Kamala Harris on the Debate Stage this hour, ill talk to a top Harris Campaign Adviser about their plans to reach those still undecided voters no homestretch of this race. And as you just saw, the Attorney General is issuing a stark warning about threats against justice. Department officials who are simply doing their jobs. Hes not naming names, but its pretty clear where he thinks those threats are coming from im dana bash, lets go behind the headlines and inside Politics Harrison Trump camp and pains are all over the country, literally. The Vice President is holding two events in North Carolina Today as she tries to add some Tar Heel blue to the Battleground Map while shes in the sunbelt tall as me, Tim Walz is in the rust belt. Hes going specifically to the state of michigan, the second gentleman, doug emhoff, is going to campaign in nevada. And in arizona. That is where Donald Trump will be today as well. He is campaigning and talking about housing and the economy though. One can never be sure exactly what the focus is going to be when he is on the Trail And Jd vance is going to be in the Big Apple trying to raise some money cnns Priscilla Alvarez is in charlotte where the Vice President will speak this afternoon. North carolina is interesting because when Joe Biden was still on the top of the ticket, they had kind of given up on that. No longer well and its also a state that he had lost in 2020. But Campaign Officials see a strategy here. They know that they need to appeal to some voters who may not be diehard democrats, but are also not entirely interested in Donald Trump when advantage in their argument that theyre trying to use is the Governors Race here. And tying the gop gubernatorial candidate to Donald Trump. And in that way, tried to get two more voters, especially those undecided voters. But another one of the top issues in the state of North Carolina is reproductive rights. North Carolina GovernorRoy Cooper saying, right after the debate that it was the moment that Vice PresidentCamila Harris spoke on reproductive rights and healthcare that were some of the strongest and could move the needle in his seat and the campaign is trying to capitalize on those moments with a brand new ad released just minutes ago, take a listen 12 or 13yearold survivor of incest are being forced to carry a pregnancy to term. They dont want that i think the american people believe that certain freedoms in particular the freedom to make decisions about ones own body should not be made government now, harris aides had told me just before the debate that they had planned to needle the former president , on reproductive rights on that Debate Stage. And they think it paid off, which is shown in this ad. This is going to run in the Battleground States again, another example of how the campaign its trying to use this issue to get to voters and make their argument especially for those who are undecided. Of course, another important aspect of these campaign stops here in North Carolina Today and in Pennsylvania Tomorrow is that early voting is just around the corner. So the campaign trying to get the Vice President out and quickly after that debate. Okay, priscilla, thank you so much, really interesting new ad. Lets bring in a terrific group of reporters here at the table. Cnns kayla tausche, cnns jeff zeleny, tolu, olorunnipa of the Washington Post and journalist gretchen carlson, who is cofounder of the nonprofit Organization Lift our voices, is here. Welcome to Inside Politics. Thanks for having me. Its so great to see you. Welcome to all of you as well i want to start with where priscilla left off, which is the Harris Campaign is obviously leaning into this notion that she had a very good debate cherrypicking, first and issue and her answer on that, which are hoping that will help in some of these Swing Areas in the Swing Districts and that is a focus, but theyre also obviously very happy with how she did. And just as an example her campaign tweeted late yesterday, our new ad just dropped and if you hit the link its the entire Debate Right . I mean, they are hoping to capitalize on this debate, keep it front and center of fresh in peoples minds. Obviously, people are not going to watch the debate again, who knows . Some might, but a lot of people watched it the first time. Some 67 Million. And that is just watched it live. I mean, so many more moments are playing out and im not surprised that he is in North Carolina is their first stop and b, shes talking about abortion. We talked to a governor Roy Cooper right after the debate and he said Health Care and abortion are going to move the needle in North Carolina, we shall see you ask why North Carolina . A, it is the top example of a state where she can block trump. Its also an Insurance Policy for her if she doesnt win pennsylvania without pennsylvania, you can still hit to 70 by North Carolina and one other state. So a lot of reasons to go there ever since shes been on top of the ticket, they have seen he knew promise there because of the ten hbcus across North Carolina because of early Voting Brock Obama wasnt in 2008 because of excitement and enthusiasm. I remember that campaign very well. Its a different state. A lot of new voters in there on both sides, but they see real promise that were going to talk later in the show about Something Downballot and North Carolina and how that contributes or doesnt to whats going on at the top of the ticket, gretchen, i want you to listen to what Debbie Dingell Congresswoman from michigan, of course, who i kind of called the sandra the democratic party because she back in 2016 was warning more privacy i believe in publicly the clinton campaign, youve got to get Hillary Clinton to michigan and we know what happened. She ended up losing michigan because perhaps they didnt heed her warnings. Listen to what she said. To kasie hunt this morning i was ecstatic like every other democrat. As ive watched the debate she got under his skin, one of my Township Supervisors called me and wanted to know what i thought. And i said, well, what did you think that discussion brought me right back Down To Earth . Its just closer than people realize its Trench Warfare right now, six of the seven Battleground States, early voting starts either today or moving forward in the next week. The biggest thing to me is that harris needs to get voters to back harris and not just opposed trump. So the Abortion Add to me is excellent. However, people know where she stands on abortion, thats a hotbed issue. What you just heard from those undecided voters earlier is they want to know more. And if i were advising harriss campaign, she needed hes just separate herself from biden. She needs to get out there more in these Battleground States do every interview possible in that New York Times poll that came out over the weekend, 60 want change from biden. However, only 25 think thats harris 58 think thats trump. If that is not a telltale sign that she needs to separate herself when she started to do in trying to be more moderate, she needs to get out there, do interviews. I know her Campaign Stuff has not wanted her to do that im not necessarily recommending more debates because has to do more media interviews. Yeah. And on that question of media interviews, but also maybe trying to separate a separate herself a bit from Joe Biden. Its interesting that apparently, when she said i called it the triangulation, im not im not him, meaning Donald Trump and im not Joe Biden in my own person that seemed to have done the best on the dial with Focus Groups during the debate. And shes met multiple times, said, its time to turn the page. She tried to present trump, not as a change agent, not as an insurrection. The person or going against the status quo, but as a member of the status quo, who has really soiled the american politics for the last nine years. She really tried to present him but someone who is exhausting, someone who has really coarsened our politics for a long time and said, we dont need to be like this. We need to turn the page that was part of her message and trying to change those numbers, which those numbers do show that trump is seen as a change agent. People are unhappy with the way things are currently in the country. And so shes tried to take the first step of Thing Trump is taking us backwards and she says were not going back, but she also needs to show that she has a vision for the future that would allow people to have confidence that she would be different than biden and not more of the same. What do we know . Very little, if any, backslapping of the biden administration during the debate on policy, whereas President Bidens, his proclivity was to take a Victory Lap on the things that theyd already done. And she did the opposite of that where she really focused on her own policy positions going forward saying if i were in office, this is what ive already told you that i would be doing and shes going to try to continue to make that case when she goes on this new way forward tour, but she has the potential for some hitches in the coming week because theyre going to be many more off the Cuff Media Engagements in the Battleground States, which is gretchen notes, she hasnt really done before and because of the condensed timeline, shes not going to have the multiple days to hunker down and prepare for all of these various engagements. Hes going to meet the Teamsters Rank and file. Shes going to be at Nab Jay and theyre going to be a lot of opportunities its for some offthecuff moments and a lot less time to recover. But as jeff was talking about early, that the real strategy behind the schedule that she and Tim Walz are having over the next few days is because of early voting, 161,000 people have already requested Absentee Ballots in the state of North Carolina that is more than double the number of votes that trump won in 20. Thats really interesting. I want to turn to the Trump Side of the ledger and talk about the fact that some figures and Donald Trumps orbit are concerned about someone who has been traveling with him lately. Im talking about Laura Loomer, a farright conspiracy theorist. Geez called herself pro white nationalism and a proud islamophobia. These are things that this woman who was with Donald Trump has said and yesterday she was with trump at 9 11 ceremonies in New York and pennsylvania. This is someone who pushed a conspiracy that the attacks were an inside job with Donald Trump at Ground Zero or at the areas in and around the 911 Ceremonies Loomer was also seen getting off trumps Plan And Philadelphia ahead of the debate and some blame her for putting stories like the Immigrants Eating Pets Lai into his head. Shes even too extreme for Marjorie Taylor Greene, who isnt exactly a Poster Child for political correctness. Green responded to a racist post that loomed were put up about Kamala Harris. Greene wrote, this is appalling and extremely racist. It does not represent who we are as republicans or maga at this does not represent president trump. This type of behavior should not be tolerated ever. Now, trump aides have tried for years to keep loomer away from him obviously, that is not working to lou. What are you hearing from your sources about this . Theres a lot of concern that trump is trying to sort of Go Back and recreate the 2016 narrative that he had where he was sort of this upstart candidate, where he was saying things that were coming controversial where he was bringing in people who were not part of the republican establishment and hes trying to recreate that, but now hes bringing in people that are highly problematic, people that have these very noxious views about different americans who embrace racist ideology. And so there are people who are trying to create the feeling that trump has a professional organization, people like Chris Lacivita and susie wiles, when you bring in someone like Laura Loomer, you blow that up and it makes it very clear. As we saw on the Debate Stage, that trump is not going to have a professional approach. Hes going to Go Back to his instincts, which is to blow things up. And Laura Loomer somewhere, someone whos helping with that and he certainly not trying to get any independent voters or suburban moms wey see this kind of behavior. Look when you have Marjorie Taylor Greene saying that somethings bad, you should really pay attention. Hes invigorating maga only. And i think thats a huge mistake. Dog whistling to the racist crowd. I guess hes banking everything on, simply turnout of maga. We all know that independents have a lot to do with evaluating and solving elections. But maybe hes thinking that this is going to be a win for him because hes just going to invigorate them so much real quick. I just think that this is a massive Gatekeeping Failure of the Trump Campaign. I mean, covering the Trump Administration in every single meeting in the Oval Office, aides were jockeying to be the last person to leave the room to try to moderate whatever the president had heard during that meeting and try to have, or this reason that that final fingerprint on he ended up saying or doing okay, everybody dont go anywhere coming up. Dont you dare turn the Justice Department into quote, a political weapon. That is what Attorney GeneralMerrick Garland is warning today. And its pretty clear hes talking to today it for cnn one. Wellplanned, well invested, well protected wednesday they dynamite live on tbs 6, 2021 are seared in so many of our minds of violent mob attacking the us capital, threatening lawmakers and stopping for a time. The peaceful transfer of power thats why there is a new plan to give congress increased federal security when the 2024 election is certified on january 6, 20 25, the Homeland Security Secretary designated the day as a national special security event, which means more officers will be on the ground. Broader Security Perimeters and technology to detect potential material used in weapons of mass destruction. I want to turn to Attorney GeneralMerrick Garland. Merrick garland who spoke moments ago about attacks against Justice Department officials it is dangerous to target and intimidate individual employees of this department solely for doing their jobs and it is outrageous that you have to face these unfounded attacks because you are doing what is right and upholding the Rule Of Law you deserve better cnns Evan Perez is at the Justice Department. He didnt name names, but he made no mistake about who he was referring to. No, absolutely not. Dana the Attorney General, was addressing really the threats that youve heard, not only from the former president , but also members of congress who refer to some of those very people that you pointed, that you just saw carrying out those attacks on january 6. They referred to them as political prisoners and theyve tried to portray them and its totally different light from the violence that you see there and what the Attorney General was talking about today in a speech to employees to us attorneys who are in town for a conference was that the department is going to stick by its norms, right. To try to make sure that the department cannot be weaponized here are some of those comments from the Attorney General that we will not allow this department to be used as a political weapOn And our norms are a promise that we will not allow this nation to become a country where Law Enforcement is created as an apparatus of politics i, what the Attorney General, of course, is referring to is the vow from Donald Trump and from people. Some of his supporters, that if he were to regain the White House, that he is going to turn the department to try to use it to weaponize it against some of his critics, including of course, the Attorney General and people in the biden administration. Also, he is talking about the ruling back in july from the supreme court, which essentially blessed some of the conduct that from Donald Trump back in 2020, where he tried to use people from the Justice Department to support him is false claims that there was widespread fraud in the 2020 election. Those are the things that the Attorney General is addressing in this speech today, dana really scary, but really important stuff as we get closer and closer to Election Day. And of course beyond. Thanks, evan, appreciate that and coming up, she is coming off a winning Debate Performance and a superstar endorsement. But is that going to translate to actual votes for Kamala Harris, her Campaign Cochair is here next syscall, cnn is taking a break from Breaking News to air. Have i got news for you . Breaking news. Direct redefining insurance i had to go montgomery In Tokyo and this is cnn money, a strong Debate Performance. And as superstar endorsement. And yet the president ial race is essentially a tie. Thats the situation. Vice president harris finds herself in. So how is she going to capitalize on her . Very good week . Kamala harris, his Campaign Cochair mitch landrieu, is here with me now to help try to answer that. Nice to see you. Thank you for coming in i want you to just want to get right to it and i want you to listen to what undecided Georgia Voter who spoke with my colleague, Randi Kaye said after the debate i want to hear more and more like how shes going to get it done. Right . Exactly. Yeah specifically obviously, about the Small Businesses. I want to hear how whats going to get done, because i do understand when money gets moved around, the money has to come from somewhere where are you going to pull that money from . How is she going to persuade voters like that woman in georgia and others to get off the fence and come her way, particularly when it comes to her plans on the economy. Well, first of all, that is a great questiOn And the thing that when people ask them but what they want to know about Kamala Harris, what they already know about Donald Trump is something that they do not like. 90 of the people know who this guy is, and the people who know him best, like him the least. And i think that that really is going to be determinative because at the end of the day they want to know more about her, but they do understand that its a choice between Donald Trump, whos gone, want to Go Backwards and Carmel Harris is going to go forward. And so what you can expect of her since the day that she has gotten to this race, shes won every day. And of course you win by getting the most votes, you get the most votes if you raise the most money, if you go the furthest, and the fastest, if you talk to more people. And of course thats what were going to do. And we also built a campaign for this moment. So right now, as you have seen in the last 45, 50 days, and now youre going to see in the next 60 or so is she is going to be crisscrossing this country meeting voters where they are explaining to them who she is what she is going to do, and the fact that shes going to fight for them. And i think that debate didnt show anything else that when the chips are down, Donald Trump is going to be like on the titanic, hes the first one in the boat. Shes going to be there fighting for people just like that wonderful woman that was asking that question a minute ago. Let me just push back on the first thing that you said there, which is that people already know about Donald Trump and theyre not going to change their minds that i believe is true but if you look at the voters who arent sure who to vote for, and if the crisis of affordability i call it is their top concern what they know about Donald Trump is that they could afford more when he was president up until the pandemic. And they dont know what she will bring. Well, first of all, thats what they think, but of course at that is not accurate. The economy when Donald Trump was president was terrible, not accurate. If you look at the numbers, but its how people well, thats what campaigns are about and thats why you have to go out and tell them thats why shes rolled out her plan. And how first thing is to create an opportunity economy. And actually the lower costs for people and the plans to fight the pharmaceutical industry, is she and President Biden did the plan to help people get into homes help People Childcare all of those things going forward, were going to address the concerns, but youve got to go out and sell it. Theres no bow ever said shes going to go and talk to them but like go out and rally or shes going to have town halls, all of the above, you can expect that she will be everywhere talking to everybody and making sure that we put the pedal to the metal based on that incredible Debate Performance, which did two things. It demonstrated once again why Donald Trump is unfit for the presidency and that we shouldnt put him anywhere near the Oval Office. And it also demonstrated it very normal, competent, capable, tough leader who was going to fight for individuals just like that woman in georgia. And of course shes in North Carolina Today. Shes in two different spots and shell be all over the country between now and Election Day and are there going to be additional plans that come out on the economy or she going to just try to sell and two explain some of what she has talked about and what you call the expectation is shell do both and shell continue to point out that Donald Trump, who demonstrated this athlete the other night that when you talk about people eating dogs and the kind of thing that came out of this mans mouth many people ought to look at that and say hes got a real challenge. We dont want to put them anywhere near the Oval Office and oh, by the way, im a really good alternative. Heres who i am. I was a district attorney. I wasnt Attorney General. I was a senator. I was the Vice PresidentUnited States, and i have got plans that are going to make your life better and shes going to go tell that story. Thats what elections are about theres a democratic Research Group called blueprint and it released at postdebate report and found that notably harriss im not Joe Biden remarked test the best with overall voter suggesting it was an effective moment where she distanced herself from the past and gained an upper hand on being perceived as It Change candidate right after the debate, took note of that moment and thought it was even more of a triangulation because it was distancing herself rhetorically, at least from Joe Biden. And also of course, from the man on the stage with her is that what she needs to do more of distance herself from the guy who is effectively her boss. Well, first of all, she didnt do it rhetorically. She looked at Donald Trump in the eye and she said, you must be confused. I am not Joe Biden i mean, like not want to try to explain, please. Yeah. I think Joe Biden is going to go down in history as being one of the most consequential President S in the history of america. And she was his Vice President and she helped him do all the things that was done in the biden time that she was saying. I think thats huge proud of that, but nobody should be unclear on the fact that she has our own person that is the point that she was trying to make to Donald Trump for people who didnt like Joe Biden, one of the reasons they didnt like him was not because of his policies. One of the reasons was they thought that he was too old and they said that over and over again. And by the way, they think that about Donald Trump is well and so what Kamala Harris is doing by her very presence and by her skills, is telling people this is time for a new way forward. And i think that theres a sense in america amongst republicans, democrats, and independents that were so tired of the old song that Donald Trumps sayings about how bad america is, how terrible everything is having to wake up every day when he was president thinking what the hell did that guy do today and whats he going to do to hurt us tomorrow . That they want to turn the page. And i think theyre painting a broad brush with Donald Trump and Joe Biden, obviously, on that issue. But there are many policies that Joe Biden supported that weve talked about many that were very, very, very favorable in the public. The most important of which is being lowering Peoples Cost on prescription drugs, fighting big pharma, really fighting against a lot of the big companies who are in, in many peoples views were kind of taken liberty with prices that they set and making sure that shes going to fight to go after them just like she did when she was the Attorney General, mitch landrieu, Harris Campaign co chair always good to see you. Thanks for having me up next the president ial race is tighter than ever, pretty much everywhere. But that includes North Carolina so question is, why is there such a big gap in maga versus democrat, not just at the top of the ticket, but in the Governors Race, were going to dig into that next tv moments that took culture over the edge. Iconic brands up to 70 off retail at rula law. Com rubella you never faithful sees the deals on top before their current shot down today Vice President harris is in North Carolina Today she is hoping to turn that State Blue for the first time since 2008. That is the president ial race. The state also has a really big race for governor, which as of now looks to be a little bit less of a nailbiter cnns are right, john is here with new reporting on that race. And how it is going there. And i just want to read for our viewers the headline in purple, North Carolina, democrats hope to defeat a Maga Candidate for governor, even as the president ial race remains close. And this candidate at robinson he has to say that he has said and done some controversial things is the understatement of the year and were just putting some examples. Up on the screen he mocked School Shooting survivors once justified shooting protesters he attack the civil rights movement. So many freedoms were lost there is video that surfaced of the candidate were talking about Lieutenant Governor Mark robinson calling homosexuality filth. He supported banning abortions without exceptions. And now he even just avoids completely talking about abortion, at least in public right . And yet this is a race where were seeing polls right now showing Attorney General, Attorney GeneralJosh Stein, the democratic nominee up maybe like 89 percentage points, but thats going to narrow both democrats and republicans point to historic trends, seeing democratic gubernatorial candidates leading and then as you get closer, you see Roy Cooper winning by less than a point in both of his bids and thats whats going to happen here. I think the issue is that for a lot of voters, they are willing to overlook that. Were seeing. Ive talked to a lot of republicans in North Carolina who said, yeah, maybe he yeah. Said some things, maybe its a little brush, maybe said some things. I dont agree with, but i like his policies, which will sound familiar to anyone whos been covering Donald Trump. I mean, hes hes even said things that probably Donald Trump wouldnt say that loud, at least only men should be leaders for example just on, just to drill down on one of the examples, he has said that he would love stricter abortion restrictions. Well, a democratic Opposition Group that works with the dga released some audio of him talking about abortion that he didnt mean to go public. Lets listen reasonable get down to six weeks to get down as jeff, youve spent a lot of time in North Carolina reporting for us talking to voters. There how much is the Abortion Issue going to sort of this kind of discrepancy, going my to help the democrat, not just in the Governors Race, but of course, Kamala Harris. Look, this is the first president ial election since the dobbs decision. So we will find out, weve seen the impact in midterm elections. Its been very, very clear while weve seen the State Referendums in Red States And Blue states, like so. Look, it is going to have a big impact. The Trump Campaign is worried about the suburbs of charlotte suburbs of raleigh, and abortion. They believe is a Driving Issue in that ad that Vice President harris is running from her exchange at the debate is Exhibit A for that. So we will see but it definitely is a motivating factor. And what is so fascinating about North Carolina is its population change. Its part of the sunbelt. This is going to be a Realignment President ial election, just some respects because people moved around during the pandemic so yes, younger people are moving to the suburbs, but also some republicans from New Jersey and New York and elsewhere also have moved down to North Carolina. So i like to think of North Carolina as the United States of North Carolina. It sounds obvious, but it goes from Apalachicola All The Way to the coast. And there is a lot of variety in North Carolina, but abortiOn And the suburbs, the fastgrowing suburbs, is a huge opportunity for the Harris Campaign and grit. Gretchen the just mentioned some of the outrageous things that this Lieutenant Governor who wants to be governor has said also some very antisemitic remarks. Hitler disarming millions of jews and then marching them off to Concentration Camps is a bunch of hogwash. And it goes On And on. So you know, in any other pre maga time, i think its fair to say it will be very hard for someone like this to get the nomination with one of those statements right . With any within any of those statements. But look, he does not have the endorsement of senator pat tillis, republican. He does not have the endorsement of the former republican governor pat mccrory, but hes on the ticket with trump . Yes. Hes on. But but North Carolina has a history of ticketsplitting . Yes. And so you have governor Roy Cooper winning as a democrat when and Trump Beat Biden in the most narrow of margins of any state, by the way, in the last election, we do have this history of ticketsplitting to jeffs point. Abortion always pulls low when you say whats the most important thing to you going into vote for your, your president ial candidate or any State Referendum . I believe that that is inaccurate in this election, i believe abortion is on the Front Center of most women going into the ballot box. And i think that that will prove to be true in North Carolina, nfp elsewhere and just to sort of pick up on what you were saying about ticketsplitting because it is so true it doesnt always happen, especially these days when its shirtsandskins and its very hard to get people to look at the individuals rather than the party. If you look at where people stand right now, North Carolina, likely voters, harris, 49, trump, 46, choice for Governor Stein again, 51, robinson, 41. And you are right as time around in 2020 where i Cooper One and so to Donald Trump and scoopers, a democrat, very real enthusiasm for Josh Stein that i saw inperson the day after the debate that was a disaster for President Biden at the North Carolina fairgrounds, where he held that rally. Governor cooper and Attorney General stein both appeared before for President Biden did, and they were met with uproarious applause. We could not even hear ourselves think in that, in that space during their appearances. Then when President Biden came out, there were volunteers from the campaign who were almost serving as cheerleaders to try to get people to yell and scream and to sort of meet the enthusiasm that they had had for those down valid, those downballot politicians, even just before the president of the United States. So comparing those things mean the Biden Campaign was optimistic about North Carolina because of those diversifying demographics, because of how college educated this state as a whole. Is that because harris has seen her Poll Numbers shifts so much because of that enthusiasm they feel even more optimistic now. But of course, theres a lot that can happen in the next, next 50 plus days that is true oh, sure. Words that have been said thanks, guys. Appreciate it. As her 5 dollars instantly was cold. Tv he covering the Harris Campaign you see in it, Mike Johnson is facing a familiar challenge as a republican speaker, and that is to keep the government open and not lose his job. Cnns Lauren Fox joins me now, lauren just a few weeks left to pass a Spending Bill i mean, here we go again. How is it going to do it . Yeah, dana, right now hes still pursuing this strategy to try to pacify his right flank. That of course is passing a six month Spending Bill that would go into march. Good. Potentially a new administration in opportunity to set their own priorities and it includes what is known as the save act. That is something thats been really important to conservatives that would bar noncitizens from voting in us elections. It is already illegal to do that, but they say it strengthens provisions on the books. And dana, i would just note that right now, he doesnt have the votes for that plan, and so he faces its really tough question that weve seen time and time again. Eventually, hes going to have to work with democrats, but deciding when to make that play call, deciding how long but spending fight to have that still remains to be seen. And heres why that pressure is looming. It could affect whether or not he keeps his job after the November Number election. Heres some of that tension think potentially, hes in trouble in terms of his Leadership Future for the House Conference . Yeah, absolutely. I mean, i wouldnt have done a motion to vacate back in may if i supported his speakership and theres, you know, theres a lot of those feelings in the conference right now. I dont think he thinks about his Speaker Strip first, i think he thinks about the good of the country first but lets be honest with everybody, its a very difficult needle to thread and dan, i want to Go Back to that timeline because that is such an important component here right now, johnson is fighting for a six month Spending Bill, in part because that gets him beyond a January Speaker for his race. If they win the house, if they keep the house in november, what you could see playing out potentially if they have to do a huge Spending Bill in december, which is what democrats want to do, is him having to cut a deal with democrats and then turn around sound and get the votes cobbled the votes together to become the next speaker. That is why this six Month Deadline is so important for him, but its also why perhaps democrats want to push the issue to december. Dana always tricky these days when it comes to being a republican leader and trying to get a Spending Bill through never ends. Thank you so much. Appreciate that, lauren and thank.
