NEWCOMERSTOWN A family of five is building a new home with support from the community after fire destroyed their previous residence on New Year's Day.
Although Jessica and Glenn Clarke lost their possessions — except for two dogs — along with the double-wide modular home, they know the outcome could have been far worse.
Firefighters had cleared them to return to the home after believing they had extinguished the fire on New Year's Eve. But since they had no heat, Jessica and Glenn decided to spend the night in his parents' nearby house with their children Emma, 5, Rowan, 4 and Sara 2. They didn't expect the fire to re-ignite.
