The City of Edmonton activated its extreme weather protocol Thursday morning in response to frigid conditions expected over the next week.
Environment Canada is forecasting a low of -31 C Saturday and Sunday nights. As part of the response, two dedicated Edmonton transit bus routes will run overnight between emergency shelters, transit centres and several other locations in the city to ensure transportation isn’t a barrier for anyone needing to seek shelter. The free buses available to all residents will operate in both a north and south loop between 10:30 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.
