Cherry blossom trees in nation's capital reach peak bloom

The cherry blossom trees along the Tidal Basin in the nation’s capital are believed to have reached their peak. A series of rainy, windy days will likely put an end to further blooms. According to the National Park Service, the cherry trees reached their peak on March 17, which is one of the earliest on record.
