Challenges mount for Buffalo's Hardy family as in-home schooling wears on

Buffalo News photographer Sharon Cantillon has spent the past few months following the Hardy family – Jasmine, the mom, Robert, the dad, and kids Briyana, James and Janelle – as they adjust to remote instruction at home during the Covid-19 pandemic. Today The News is running the second installment of photos taken between Sept. 23 and Oct. 20 and focusing on the frustrations setting in at the Hardy house in Buffalo.

It didn’t take long into the new school year for the remote-learning experience to begin to wear on the Hardys.
Since being away from the classroom, Briyana’s grades had dropped. Midway through the first quarter, the sophomore at South Park High School was failing every class but math.
