CEO says vegan ‘cheese’ tastes just as good

The chief executive of ASX-listed Pure Foods Tasmania says it’s hard to tell the difference between the plant-based ‘cheese’ made by newly-acquired Lauds Plant Based Food and traditional dairy cheese as he chases a slice of a $3.9 billion global market.
Michael Cooper said on Tuesday the company aimed to have national distribution through its existing networks for the Lauds range within four to five weeks, as he also signalled a move into the plant-based meat category.
Pure Foods Tasmania has acquired Lauds Plant Based Foods which competes against a rising number of artisan vegan cheese makers.
