Centreville High School band performed Friday on the lawn of the St. Joseph County Courthouse

Restoring a tradition that began in the 1950s, Centreville High School band performed Friday on the lawn of the St. Joseph County Courthouse.
Such performances were a frequent occurrence a few generations ago. The idea to bridge a six-decade gap took root after Centreville High School government teacher Rob Collins found information that detailed “Concerts at the Courthouse,” which took place in the 1950s and into the ‘60s.
Principal Chad Brady jumped on board and, in conjunction with village and county officials, before long, Friday’s performance became a reality.
Brady said being able to keep the 40-student band in the public eye was a good move.
