The rebranded Central Appalachian Inland Port (CAIPP) at Prichard in Wayne County has new operator. R. J. Corman Switching Company, LLC, a subsidiary of R. J. Corman Railroad Group, was awarded a contract to lease the facility, marking a major milestone in the years long effort to revitalize the facility formerly known as the Heartland Intermodal Gateway.
The port is a 65-acre facility at the southern end of Prichard, owned by the Wayne County Commission and designed to transfer shipping containers between railcars and trucks. The CAIPP is served by Norfolk Southern Railway’s Kenova District.
