CALCULUS on Saturday outstayed former stablemate, FURTHER AND BEYOND, scoring a near seven-length victory in the 10-furlong Jamaica St Leger to establish himself as a leading contender for August's Jamaica Derby at 12 furlongs.
CALCULUS won at odds of 7-1 in a time of 2:08.1 with Shane Ellis a month after Trinidadian owner Chevan Maharaj moved the colt from Anthony Nunes to Gary Subratie, following down-the-track efforts in the Kingston and 2000 Guineas.
The change of barn did wonders for CALCULUS, who stalked the leaders from along the rail down the backstretch before pouncing on FURTHER AND BEYOND and 4-5 favourite, MINIATURE MAN, at the half-mile marker.
