BOWIE, MD — Bowie Mayor Tim Adams announced on March 30 that he will run to be Maryland's next comptroller. This official manages the state's finances. Adams would be the first Black resident to hold the office, and he would also be the first Marylander who is paralyzed to win an elected position, the Baltimore Sun reported.
The Election
The Democratic mayor took office in November of 2019. His term would finish in November of 2023, but the comptroller election is in November of 2022. This would force Adams to end his mayoral term a year early.
