Boston struggling to test rape kits within state-mandated time limit, data show

The Boston crime lab received 186 rape kits in the 12 months leading up to last June, and tested 93 of them within 30 days, according to an annual state report on testing filed Jan. 2 by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
