This year in the United States, the largest collection of American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan’s artwork will be on display. It’s called ‘Retrospectrum,’ and it spans almost six decades of Dylan’s work, including more than 120 paintings, sketches, and sculptures.
The collection will expand on the initial Retrospectrum exhibition, which took place in Shanghai, China, in 2019. This latest edition is said to include never-before-seen objects as well as additional artworks from a brand-new series named “American Pastoral”. Retrospectrum will premiere on November 30, 2021, at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum in Miami, and will run until April 17, 2022.
A lot of Dylan’s work reflects his time spent travelling across the United States, and he has a strong interest in the American scene. As a result, this latest collection will follow suit. Although one addition from 2020, titled ‘One Too Many,’ depicts a man bent over a smoky bar counter at night, another from 2020, titled ‘Subway Cityscape,’ depicts Dylan’s passion for ‘industrial urban scenes.’
