Petaluma’s Public Art Committee have reaffirmed their commitment to a controversial Bathtub Art piece for Water Street.
The 4-3 vote acts as a recommendation for the city council to approve an $80-thousand dollar environmental review contract that is required to move forward with the piece. The project would consist of 5 sculpted bathtubs on stilts along the promenade between East Washington Street and the Balshaw Bridge. The art committee initially approved the project back in early 2018 but have faced delays by appeals from community members. The whole project is expected to cost at least $230-thousand dollars.
