A Weaverville man died July 31 in a single-vehicle collision on his motorcycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway, according to a statement from the National Park Service.
Shawn Emory, 38, of Weaverville, the motorcycle driver, was pronounced dead later that day at a "local hospital," the news release said.
Parkway dispatchers received a report at 9:30 a.m. July 31 of a single motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle near Milepost 398, near the Chestnut Cove Overlook about 5 miles south of Asheville at the N.C. 191/Brevard Road intersection.
When rangers arrived on the scene, according to the news release, they "observed the motorcycle laying on its side near the guard rail."
