Rachael Blackmore celebrates a win to cap a remarkable season
Rachael Blackmore made history at Aintree as she became the first female jockey to win the Randox Grand National as Minella Times (11-1) scored for the Tipperary rider and trainer Henry de Bromhead.
Blackmore, who last month became the first female jockey to win the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham – on De Bromhead's Honeysuckle – bided her time before challenging and leading two out en route to even greater glory in her annus mirabilis
Minella Times' win was also a remarkable one for de Bromhead, who saddled a one two in the race, with outsider Balko Des Flos (100-1) filling the runner-up spot.
