(CNS News) -- The Biden administration announced on Monday that it is reinterpreting a rule in the Affordable Care Act to include "gender identity" and "sexual orientation" as categories protected from discrimination in health care. During the Trump administration, this anti-discrimination rule applied to the category "sex," as understood biologically at birth, male or female.
With the new interpretation in force by the Health and Human Services' Office of Civil Rights, doctors and medical personnel could be compelled to violate their conscience or religious beliefs.
