FORECAST COMING UP. >> NEW TONIGHT, THE PUSH TO LIFT THE STATE'S MITIGATION EFFORTS EVEN BEFORE MEMORIAL DAY. RIGHT NOW, THEY'RE SET TO LIFT ON MAY 31ST. KAITLIN SYKES IS LIVE. AND SOME STATE LAWMAKERS WANT THAT DATE TO BE SOONER. REPORTER: THE POSSIBILITY THAT IT COULD HAPPEN EARLIER AND HE COULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE ENTIRE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND HE SAID WOULD BE EVEN BETTER. >> Y MEAN, JUST A SIGH OF RELIEF. KATELYN: THAT'S HOW ROMAN FROM ROMAN BISTRO LEARNED AFTER LEARNING THE MITIGATION EFFORTS WOULD LIFT ON MAY 31ST. >> WE TOOK ABOUT 10 STEPS BACK IT REALLY PUT A DAMPER ON EVERYTHING. YOU KNOW, NOT ONLY FINANCIALLY HERE BUT ALL OF OUR EMPLOYEES, AND IT'S BEEN TOUGH. KATELYN: BUT WHAT WOULD BE BETTER IS SEEING THE RESTRICTIONS LIFT THE HOLIDAY BEFORE THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND, STATE SENATORS ARE ASKING THE GOVERNOR TO CONSIDER. >> YOU KNOW, THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND IS A PRETTY BIG DEAL FOR THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY. AND WE KNOW THAT PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE OUT THERE SPENDING MONEY. SO WE IT WOULD MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IF HE COULD MOVE IT UP JUST A LITTLE FURTHER A COUPLE OF DAYS AT LEAST. >> OF COURSE, IT'S GOING TO HELP. BUT OUR SISTER RESTAURANT AT MOUNT WASHINGTON, 65% OF OUR BUSINESS IS TOURISM AND WITH THAT, IF THEY MOVE THAT TO FRIDAY THAT MEANS A LOT TO US AND EVERYBODY, ALL THE RESTAURANTS ON MOUNT WASHINGTON. >> ROMAN SAYS IT WOULD OPEN UP HIS RESTAURANTS TO ALLOW 100% CAPACITY OVER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND, AGAIN, A BIG MONEYMAKER. LAWMAKERS SAY THEIR HOPE IS THAT BY MOVING UP THE DATE BY THREE DAYS, IT COULD BE THE KICKOFF TO A SUCCESSFUL SUMMER FOR THESE INDUSTRIES. >> I HOPE WE CAN GIVE THEM THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND, WHICH IS THE BIGGEST OF THE YEAR FOR THIS INDUSTRY. KATELYN: I DID REACH OUT TO THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE FOR COMMENT BUT HAVE NOT GOTTEN A RESPONSE. REPORT
