Earlier, we spoke to earlier, we spoke to isabella eda baker, a british isabella eda baker, a british citizen who is trying citizen who is trying to evacuate lebanon to evacuate lebanon to go to turkey. To go to turkey. I left my area in West Beirut about two days ago to come here to tripoli, i bought a ticket to get a boat across to turkey, which i found out about an hour ago should leave at 4. 30 today, lebanon time. Do you think you are getting enough information from the consulate, the foreign office, british officials about how you can leave the country, you and your friends and other people you know . Do you think you are fully informed . I would say since October 8th last year when everything first kicked off, the Uk Government has been quite clear with its updates saying it advises people to leave. It increased the recommendations at certain points and said that they want us to do it through commercial means. I personally think that focus on british residents leaving is not a big priority for the Uk Government. We have been told many times. We are not waiting to be evacuated, if it is an option. It is more important to worry about the people left behind in lebanon, the people who do not have the choice to leave. They are the ones that have to deal with what is going on. It is not us who come here with the Freedom And Privilege to leave whenever we want. As well as here, coming north. Very upsetting to see the scenes of people on Myjourney Up To tripoli, people in the back of various food produce trucks, and vans, whole families. I think almost 500,000 people, if not more, have been displaced. Yes, it is very much the civilian impact that is happening here and it is the civilians that are dealing with it. As we talk about the escalating tensions in the middle east, October 7th will mark one year since the Hamas Attack on israel. More than 1,200 people were killed and over 200 others were taken hostage when hamas gunmen crossed the border from gaza. They attacked dozens of sites, including the nova music festival, attended by 3,500 people. Bbc storyville has been speaking to some of those who survived, piecing together what happened. Some of the material were about to show you was filmed by hamas. That footage, along with the eyewitness accounts youre about hear, is distressing. The festival itself was amazing. The energy of people just wanting to dance and enjoy themselves, and then going at it with all that they have. It was beautiful. We were all students starting our fourth year. We all like going to parties and the second the Nova Tickets came out, they were really cheap, it seemed like a perfect thing to do right before the year started. I came to the Nova Party for work. I brought a dj from hungary. Myjob was to take him to the party, let him play his set and then take him back home. The last video i took from my phone was at 6. 28 in the morning. It was the last drop that he played. The moment that i stopped filming, someone grabbed my hand and showed me the sky. Shouting he yelled into the crowd. Everyone scattered. It was like a screen coming up from the sky of rockets. Just like. The most rockets ive ever seen in my life. I went to the dj and i told him, listen, theres no time for goodbyes. Theres no time for waiting. Were running to the car and were leaving. We stop at the side of the road. We see the. Concrete structure on the side of the road that is supposed to be as close to a Bomb Shelter as possible, and it seemed like the smartest move to make, to go into it. Engine revs gunshots woo Allah Akbar gunshots i looked in the back mirror. I could see the car behind me that had stopped. The driver and the guy that were next to him were shot in the head. And i saw them slaughter people. A group of people jump out screaming in arabic. Allahu akbar, allahu akbar. And then i see anil. Just pick them up and toss them out. And he does that once, and then they throw another one in. Every time they throw in a grenade, he just grabbed it, tossed it out. Thinking to myself, oh my god, this kid is throwing live grenades. I dont think that ive ever heard of anyone ever doing that. There was a really big explosion and i flew back. Someone flew on me. And when i finally got up, i rememberanil wasnt standing anymore. He wasnt with us. They came back again. And then they started shooting everyone inside. They left and i thought everyone was acting or playing dead, so that they wouldnt get kidnapped. But after a minute or two, when people werent lifting their heads or waking up, i realised that i was sitting in a pile of bodies. We both got into an Army Jeep and they told us to put our heads down. But i couldnt look away. Ive kind of understood that im never going to be the person that i was before 7th october, and im trying to figure out who im going to be now. Every single person that i lost on that day would have made the hell out of this life. I close my eyes for a moment and i picture my friends that arent with us anymore and hoping that wherever they are, theyre partying like crazy. The full documentary, storyville we will dance again, will be on iplayer from tomorrow morning, and Bbc Two tomorrow night. The film forms part of a group of programmes marking one year since 7th October Attacks and the war in gaza. A bbc storyville, Life And Death in gaza, will be broadcast in october. Simon jones, bbc news. Its a dilemma that many parents face when their child is old enough to go to High School should they have a Mobile Phone and if so what age should they get one . But a group of parents at one Primary School in hertfordshire have agreed not to give their children smartphones at all until The End of year 9, when most will have turned 14. Our reporter Nicola Haseler explains why. Its the dilemma facing almost every parent these days, as your child reaches the last few years of Primary School. Should you give in to Peer Pressure and get them one of these, which these days all tend to be smartphones . But what if you dont want to but worry yours will be the only child without a phone . Well, theres now a growing movement of parents saying no to smartphones. Here in hitchin, the parents and teachers have come together in an attempt to make Childhood Phone free. I think its about giving people choice. I think before, you didnt have a choice. Everyone was getting phones. Thats just what you did. But now there is that option. Theres this growing number of people who feel the same as i do, that having a smartphone probably isnt the best thing to do. Its just around the addictive nature of these devices, and how it then can absorb them into some kind of world where it takes them away from playing with their friends, from human interaction. They are distraction devices, as well as gateways, if they are given unbridled access, gateways into the entire internet. We just thought that that Wasnt 0k and wanted. To change that norm. This Primary School is asking parents to sign up to a pledge to delay giving children phones until the age of 14. Via the pact, hopefully, what were doing is trying to build that community whereby more children do not have phones than do. It makes it easier for parents to say, well, actually a lot of your friends are not on that and dont have that, and therefore we dont need to, give you access to it. According to ofcom, 84 of bullying in 8 17 Year Olds is via their phone. A report by Kings College found those with high Phone Usage are twice as likely to have anxiety. And new research in america shows the younger a child gets a smartphone, the worse their Mental Health is as an adult. I do have a smartphone, and i was ten when i got one. I got it for my 10th birthday. The reason i dont have one| is because i dont want one. I know that some people get a phone just because of the Peer Pressure, and everyone else is like, oh, have you seen this new app . Have you seen this new thing on your phone . So they mightjust want to get it to be involved with other people. I wouldnt, but if i could, Id Text my friends all day long. As long as were not using them for stuff| were not supposed to, i and using them too much, i think its fine. Theres such an incredible wave of change happening now. Its really exciting, actually, because i think everyones starting to believe we can do something about this. This primary is now asking others in Hitchin Tojoin them in normalising not giving children smartphones. Nicola haseler, bbc news. This to a story we have been looking throughout the morning here. The bbc has approached Dr Coxon for comment and we have not heard back from her, but the General Medical Councils procedures, basically, they will investigate whether there is. Whether the complaint is worth investigating, if you like. If it is, it will go to the medical Practitioners Tribunal Service and then there is quite a lengthy process to decide whether or not there is a case to answer and if there is what happens with that. It is not a fast process at all, it does take quite a long time to work its way through. Its way through. One more question. Its way through. One more question, but its way through. At that point, if they decide there are grounds to go forward, they will pass it to the medical Practitioners Tribunal Service, almost like an Arms Length Body that can look at the cases. They will decide whether there is a case to answer. If there is a case to answer. If there is a case to answer, what the details of that hour. If there is to be some sort of sanction on the doctor, what the sanction could be. It can range from suspending the licence for dental work and a set of conditions, or in the most severe cases, struck off the medical register for their work. I should say Dr Coxon is in her 80s so when i have looked at cases like this, past cases, sometimes doctors have chosen to withdraw from the medical register themselves to avoid the investigation that follows. There are a number of different possible outcomes we are still looking at. Ok. Are still looking at. Ok, dominic. Are still looking at. Ok, dominic, thank are still looking at. Just a reminder, we havejust had a statement from the current Managing Director of harrods, michael ward, he said in a statement, it is clear Mohamed Al fayed presided over a toxic culture of secrecy, intimidation, fear of repercussion and sexual misconduct. More on that of course through the day on bbc news. Now the weather. We have had some wet weather pushing northwards through the course of this morning, and this afternoon it is going to start to retreat southwards once again. Low pressure is driving our weather. We have got various Weather Fronts producing rain or showers, and this north easterly wind across the north of scotland also dragging in some showers and that chilly wind. So, here we have the rain across northern england, also northern ireland, moving out of Southern Scotland through the day, and then eventually out of northern england, as it sinks south. Ahead of it, for the south of england and wales, it is a mixture of sunshine, with some heavy showers, which could have some Hail And Thunder and lightning in them. Brighter skies in the north, but this of course is where we have the cool wind. Into this evening and overnight, the rain continues to push south, Crossing Areas where the ground is already saturated. There will be some clear skies behind, a peppering of showers and a keen wind coming down the North Sea Coastline and the english channel. These are our overnight lows, between 5 and about 11 degrees, so a chilly night for some of us. So then into tomorrow, we have the remnants of the Weather Front to clear the south east. That opens the doors to this northerly flow across the whole country, so it is going to feel colder tomorrow. And eventually we will lose the rain from East Anglia in the south east. It will take its time though. Behind that, all of us are looking at a day of sunny spells, variable amounts of cloud and a few showers. But again, we have that cool northerly wind and lower temperatures, so it will feel cold, and again, we have this strong wind coming down the North Sea Coastline. But as we head into the weekend, High Pressure starts to build in, so things will settle down. Yes, we have a Weather Front across the far north of scotland. That will produce some rain at times, but after a frosty, cold start, for many, we will see some sunshine through the day, but more cloud building up, and it might be thick enough here and there for an isolated shower. Temperature wise on saturday, very similar to friday we are looking at 9 to 14 degrees, but it wont be as windy. And then as we head on into sunday, while we lose the rain across northern scotland, again a lot of dry weather, but a new area of low pressure is going to come in from the South West Into south West England and wales. That is pushing northwards and east, and with it will be strong winds. Live from london. This is bbc news.
