In singapore, he 5 expected to emphasise themes of unity and religious harmony. The last time a pope visited the modern Island Nation was in 1986. Steve lai has more. A perhaps smaller but no less enthusiastic welcome for Pope Francis as he arrived at singapores vip terminal. These were the lucky few chosen to be part of the welcoming party. Now, this venue is typically used for mega Sporting Events or for concerts for international superstars. But for this occasion, its going to be turned into an arena where the pope can celebrate mass with over 50,000 attendees. As you can see, the stage is currently being set up. Rachael gunn has been ranked the Worlds Number one female brea kdancer. Her elevation to the top spot comes despite her controversial olympic performance for Team Australia which divided the internet and left her with a score of zero. Gunn, who performs as raygun, has continued to defend her record amid questions over her qualifications. And breakings International Governing Body has issued a statement explaining the way their rankings are decided. For an update on how we got here, i spoke to News Reporter sam mcmanus. It was one of the viral moments of this years olympics. It spawned memes that are still running today. A 37 year old australian in a green and gold tracksuit doing moves that represented australia. She was at one point doing a bunny hop. She was doing a sprinkler, which i wont demonstrate for you, but feel free to google that. And since then the fame has been for her more so than the sport. And what started as harmless reaction actually became quite controversial when some australian breakers back home said that she had brought mockery on the sport, and that the focus being on her in a more of a joking sense had sort of taken away from the value and the esteem of the sport. Raygun herself has defended what shed done, saying she was taking it seriously and a petition actually was started, 50,000 signatures calling for her to apologise. She did, but she also defended herself, saying, look, i didnt mean to have this reaction and i hope you now accept me. And that brings us to where we are. Now, which is that she has been crowned Number One in the world despite the olympics performance. Yes. So despite her performance, which she got zero points for, she didnt get past the first round. She didnt score a single point for her performance. Shes now World Number one because the olympics and the olympic qualifiers did not count towards world rankings. The federal body, the worlds dancesport federation, said that they wanted athletes to focus on their performances and not worry about the performances they were doing for the olympics. So shes now World Number one, despite that viral performance for, many would say, the wrong reasons. But the cultural moment continues and she. Ive got several friends who are planning to dress up as her for halloween. Theyve got their tracksuits ready. She was seen dancing with Richard Branson last week, so shes got supporters in some corners, but well have to see where it goes from here. Have you got a Halloween Outfit too . Im thinking of doing the same thing, of getting it together, but ill do the moves on the halloween party. Ok, now not here. Stay with us here on Bbc News. Hello there. Its been very wet today here in merseyside and through the cheshire plains. Frequent and heavy showers have been blown in. Weve got low pressure between us and scandinavia, and thats feeding in this very showery air stream, cold and gusty northwesterly winds. But you can trace the winds all the way back to the north towards the arctic circle, which is why weve got temperatures this afternoon around 3 or 4 degrees below the average for the time of year. And in the southeast of england, its quite a bit chillier than it was during yesterday. The winds arent quite as strong today. Theres still some strong and gusty northwesterly winds, especially where we have the showers, and there will be more showers through the afternoon and into the evening. But overnight, as the Winds Drop and it gets a bit colder, the showers retreat back towards windward coasts and many places will become dry and clear. And of course its going to be cold as well. Temperatures maybe a little lower than they were last night, and not farfrom freezing in Scotland And North east england, but many places will start quite sunny. Weve got the showers from the word go in northern scotland, Northern Ireland into wales, perhaps the far southwest and along North Sea coasts. There will be showers developing inland during the day. Probably not quite as many as today. Not as heavy as today either, and the winds wont be as strong too. But those temperatures arent changing very much just yet. 13 to 15 degrees once again. So, weve got Cold Air in place. And ahead of this Weather Front coming in from the atlantic, High Pressure will build across the uk on Thursday Night into friday morning, meaning the winds will be lighter, skies will be clear and temperatures will be close to freezing for many parts of the country. There is a risk of a touch of frost. And weve got a sunny start for many places on friday, but there is that Weather Front coming in from the atlantic that will bring in more cloud. It will bring some rain to Northern Ireland and western scotland. And with that cloud coming in over the cold start, temperatures arent going to rise too high. But it will be a little less cold for england and wales. Here weve got higher pressure as we head towards the weekend. This Weather Front will move down across the country. As it does so, it will tend to weaken. But i think on saturday for Scotland And Northern ireland, weve got a spell of wetter and windier weather before things improve for the second half of the weekend. But very little, if any, rain coming into england and wales. And for all of us, the temperatures will be higher than at the moment. Live from london.
