Thank you. We will talk to ou catcliffe . Thank you. We will talk to you later the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, will question the metropolitan police commissioner, sir mark rowley, later today about his forces response to incidents during pro palestinian demonstrations in london on saturday. The met said it had not identified any offences in a video posted on social media which showed a man chanting jihad at a rally staged by an Islamist Group, which was separate from the main march. We are joined by our chief political correspondent, henry zeffman. Henry, what will the Home Secretary hope to achieve from these talks . I think itjust seemed extraordinary to many people in government, the video on the one hand that spread very quickly of this man at this Protest Chanting for jihad very quickly of this man at this Protest Chanting forjihad and on the other hand, the metropolitan police very quickly coming out and saying they could not see any potential offence being committed. It is worth noting, as you say, this was separate to the main march by this protest, organised by an International Islamist group wanting to impose sharia law on the whole world. It is banned in many countries quit many arab countries in particular but also some countries in europe, like germany. It has never been banned in the uk despite some pressure sometimes for that to take place. That is one discussion you will hear raised by Suella Braverman at this meeting with sir mark rowley, commissioner of the metropolitan police was at that meeting was already in the diary to discuss the very concerning rise in Anti Semitism in recent weeks. It will take on a broader context. Robertjenrick Suella Braverman s number two at the home office yesterday, was very critical of the police, saying he could not see how the video of this incident did not amount to inciting violence. I suspect the met commissioner will be saying at this meeting, the legal bar is very high and the Public Order Act and the Terrorism Act and perhaps the issue is the legislation rather than how it is policed. I think you will get a lot of concern from government and people in parliament about issues that need to be addressed. A charity that helps victims of modern slavery says its received a steep rise in calls for help from Foreign Workers in the care sector. Unseen uk says many reported paying large amounts of money to those whod brought them to the uk, and that in some cases, their passports had been taken. The times is among several to report that the Home Secretary Suella Braverman is demanding answers from the head of the metropolitan police after some protesters were not arrested for chanting jihad at a pro palestinian march in london over the weekend. The sun leads on claims apparently supported by a video shared widely online that a London Underground driver used the train s speaker system to lead pro palestine chanting. The mirror focuses on the death of sir Bobby Charlton, with a tribute from the england and Manchester United legends younger brother tommy. And the metro has some gloomy weather news. People have more emotional, strong emotional bonds with dogs and they do with accounts, according to a recent survey. I think that is true because pants are so independent. Dog owners tend to have greater emotional bonds with their pets and cat owners. It was a survey about how much you need to spend on your dog. I am not sure cats are the same. They are to live still wonderful pets to have at home. You might be more used to using your mobile phone these days but if youve still got a landline, then it could be changing. If youve ever had to catch a rodent, you may know that one option is the so called glue trap which is basically a very sticky board, which traps any small animal that walks across it. Well, its no longer an option in wales, where glue traps have been banned because theyre seen as cruel. But some Pest Controllers say the ban is making theirjob harder and will allow Rat Populations to boom. Matt murray has the story. Rats the size of small cats. Thats what a Pest Controller from cardiff says hes dealing with, as this footage shows. Fora business, ora home, the animals can cause thousands of pounds worth of damage and transmit diseases. Pest controller Gareth Davies uses the latest technology to find and catch rodents, including drain inspection cameras. So you can actually see where the rats have been digging. But also more traditional traps, including glue boards, which many feel are barbaric. The rat i caught this week was the biggest one ive seen in 30 years, to be honest with you. It was sort of from the end of the tail to the nose was sort of 64 centimetres. So, you know, youre talking from there to there. Glue traps are placed on the floor for rats to stick to until they eventually die. We use this in the Pest Control World as a last resort to trap that rat thats causing mayhem. The Welsh Government say these are cruel and thats why theyve banned them. Youve got plenty of other ways to catch rats. Yes, they say they are cruel and barbaric. Yes, they are. But, at the end of the day, we are catching rats. Its, you know, its a pest. Its a health pest. So for the Welsh Government to take these away from a professional Pest Control Company companies we are trying to sort of fight an ever increasing Rat Population with sort of both hands behind our backs. The Welsh Government say they are pleased that wales is the first country in the uk to introduce a ban on glue traps as part of the agricultural bill. It also includes a ban on snares, which are sometimes used to catch pests in the countryside, such as foxes and rabbits. Anyone caught using these types of traps will face an unlimited fine or even prison. Theyre indiscriminate and they do Catch Animals that are innocent and peoples pets are caught in them and birds suffer horrendously because theyre trapped there for many hours. And often some animals have to actually bite their own legs off to escape from these traps. Gareth will stick to using more traditional traps like this. But will they stop rats, which experts say are growing in size and in their numbers . That was matt murray reporting. Coming up this morning. It changes lives forfamilies and children but the number of people being adopted is declining. Well be discussing that just after 7. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. A very good morning from bbc london. Im alice salfield. A school in south london says the Housing Crisis is making it harder for children to learn because many are dealing with the impact of being homeless. At Harris Primary Academy in peckham the majority of its pupils are living in temporary or overcrowded properties. The government says its spending £2 billion over three years to tackle homelessness and get families into permanent accommodation. But teachers say the situation is taking its toll on pupils. We see increasing numbers of children who might be really tired by the afternoon because theyve been up very early or who may be withdrawn because actually there are horrible things going on in the hostel that theyre living in. And teachers have had to adapt because ultimately, we really want to make sure they have a really successful education because that is their route out of poverty. A hospital in east london has blamed the Elizabeth Line for increased pressures on its Emergency Services and a fall in its performance levels. The royal london is right next to Whitechapel Station, which is on the Elizabeth Line. The hospital said attendance had risen since it launched, with figures suggesting more patients are now heading there instead of whipps cross or homerton hospitals. Its a largely fine and dry start this morning. We do have some high level cloud, though, so the sunshine we have is largely hazy and the cloud is going to thicken as we head into the afternoon. By the end of the afternoon, into the evening, some rain spreading up from the south. A Gentle Southeasterly breeze today, could be moderate at times with temperatures reaching around 15 celsius. Now, overnight tonight, that rain will become heavier for a time, moving away north and eastwards. Dry through the middle part of the night. But then some Showers Edging in by dawn tomorrow morning, the minimum temperature between 8 and 11 celsius. So for tomorrow, well still have those showers first thing, but the cloud will start to break up. Through the afternoon some lengthy spells of sunshine, still the chance of a shower, though. The Wind Switches and comes from the south west. Temperatures tomorrow reaching around 1a celsius. Now, as we head further through this week, it is going to stay largely unsettled. Jane is here with the sport and a cracking game in the Premier League last night. A year ago when i emery took over aston villa and Steven Gerrard had been struck, sacked. Now they are two points from the top of the Premier League, what a turnaround aston villa have now won 11 premier League Home Games in a row after beating west ham 4 1 at villa park. Before the game the crowd stood as one to pay their respects to sir Bobby Charlton following his passing on saturday. Villa are just two points from the top of the table, with england striker Ollie Watkins among their scorers in another dominant performance on home territory. Their manager unai emery has been in charge for a year, and aston villa now have their highest points total for 25 years after nine games. We are feeling good here at home and we are feeling something especially where we are playing here in villa park and then try to play in the style where we are building and then of course try to adapt the opponent teams playing trying to avoid the capacity. And today was a very great match with everything on the pitch, with the crowd, with the fans. And i think we have to be proud of us. We were narrowly 1 0 down at half time and wed done a lot of good things in the first half. Our goalkeeper had a couple of saves as well, but wed got into at the final third and hadnt really. Hadnt really caused them any problems. We get in regular, we get down. But it was either the wrong pass, the wrong choice, the wrong cross. We couldnt pick people out. So we had. We had opportunities which maybe against other teams this season, weve taken. Celtic restored their seven point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership after beating hearts 4 1 at tynecastle. Matt oriley scored first for celtic in the fourth minute. It was a tenth successive win over hearts for the champions in all competitions, with the edinburgh side staying in fourth place. In the scottish womens Premier League, Rangers Leapfrogged Celtic to go top with a 2 1 Old Firm Victory that ended their rivals 100 start. Rio hardys late headed winner completed rangers fightback which saw them move a point clear of celtic. There were also wins for hearts and hibs. In the womens super league, Vivianne Miedema played for the first time in 11 months after being out with an acl injury. She helped arsenal beat bristol city 2 1. Ireland captain katie mccabe scored both goals as arsenal made it two wins in a row after only picking up a point from their opening two fixtures. Bristol city remain bottom and are yet to register a point. Football fans will continue to pay their respects to club legend sir Bobby Charlton at old trafford this week, following his passing on saturday at the age of 86. A book of condolence is open at Manchester Uniteds ground and will be available until friday, with a digital version also created. A world and european champion, sir bobby was diagnosed with dementia three years ago. His 106 caps and 49 goals for england were records at the time. And during his career at united he won three league titles, the european cup and the fa cup. Manchester united manager eric ten hag and his squad have also been paying their respects to the late sir Bobby Charlton. The team signed a book of condolences at the Club Training ground in carrington. Courtney lawes has announced he will retire from intenational rugby after the world cup. Englands vice captain has played in four world cups; two lions tours and is one of only five englishmen to have been capped 100 times. Englands World Cup Campaign will conclude against argentina in fridays bronze medal match. In rugby league, england are 1 0 up in the three test series against tonga after winning 22 18 in st helens. Both sides scored two in the first half. Starford toa the first tongan over the line. And at half time, it was neck and neck. Anthonyjoshua has told the bbc that his fight with Deontay Wilder could become part of a heavyweight double bill with tyson fury and oleksandr usyk. Terms have also been agreed for the former two time world heavyweight champion joshua to fight wilder, though no date or venue has been announced. Lewis hamilton was disqualified from second place in the us grand prix after running Max Verstappens red bull close for victory. Despite starting from sixth on the grid Max Verstappen went on to claim the 50th win of his formula one career and 15th of the season at the circuit of the americas. Hamilton was just two seconds behind verstappen at the flag but his car was later declared illegal for excessive wear on the underfloor skid blocks. More frustration for england at the Cricket World Cup fast bowler reece topley has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament with a broken finger. The 29 year old was injured during yesterdays crushing defeat by south africa in mumbai. Topley is englands leading wicket taker in india, with eight in three games, despite being left out for the first match. Now, remember the name marc guiu because the 17 year old made his debut for Barcelona Last Night and scored the winner after just 33 seconds. He came off the bench in the 79th minute and tookjust two touches to score against athletic bilbao. Its the fastest First League Goal for barcelona in the clubs history. L its on the market for £35 million, but campaigners are warning that a northumbrian beauty spot could drastically change when its sold as part of englands biggest land sale. The 9,500 Acre Rothbury Estate is currently owned by the duke of northumberlands youngest son, with four bidders thought to be considering offers. But local groups say more should be done to help communities protect the land. Mark denten reports. The rothbury estate mile after mile of open country. But this place is more than just a landscape. Its our heritage. So our ancestors were farming this land, looking after this land, living on this land before the pyramids were built in egypt. In the summer, the estates 9,500 acres went up for sale. The first time thats happened since 1328. The price tag, £35 million. There are four bidders for the largest single block of land to be sold in england in the last 30 years. I think we might see the estate change drastically. Where you would see commercial forest planted in this area, you may even see Wind Turbines very close to simonside as well. Theres lots of different aspects that i dont think people appreciate that a commercial investor will want to see a return on. Butjust a few miles across the scottish borderfrom rothbury, this is the tarras valley. Ten and a half thousand acres of Rolling Hills and open countryside. Its a similar size to the rothbury estate, and a few years ago it was for sale for a few million pounds. Local people were worried. So what do they do . They bought it the £6 million price tag was raised partly through donations at the height of the pandemic, some as small as £5. We did not anticipate the support that would come from all over the world. People that might never come and see this amazing place supported us financially. We were all kind of worried that were we going to do this . Is this going to be impossible . But it wasnt, and we did it. The place is now a Nature Reserve Run by the community, but they also tapped into £2 million from the Scottish Community land fund run by the Scottish Government. That is the fund thats made available via the land reform legislation for communities to do exactly what weve just done. Could you have done it without the sort of balancing support from those public bodies . I think it would have made things a lot harder. Similar landscapes then, but a stark difference in funding between north and south of the border. What has frustrated us the most is there is the legislation and the support from local government, Regional Government and the Scottish Government to allow communities to take on the role and manage the land on behalf of local communities. We dont have that in england and its one of the things that i think we should be very jealous of scotland for having that we dont. A spokesperson for land agents, knight frank, which is marketing the rothbury estate, said none of the Public Access will change as a result of the sale, and all of the existing land subject to the countryside and rights of way act, will remain as it is today. That was mark denten reporting. Wasnt it a Beautiful Day when they were filming . It wasnt it a Beautiful Day when they were filming . Were filming . It looks like it could be re were filming . Good morning. If you are worried about flooding you can check our website or of course the different nations and regions websites to find out what is happening where you are but there are still a lot of Flood Warnings in force. Numbers go up and down but there will be further rain as i this week. We start with mist and fog patches especially the vale of york, shropshire, midlands and also parts of wales and there are some icy stretches to watch out for across scotland and Northern England. We got a wide range of temperatures, for example 3 In Aberdeenshire but bakhtin in cornwall. Today we are under the influence of this High Pressure so a lot of us will have the right weather but you can see this Weather Front towards the west. Already producing 26 millimetres of rain in the Isles Of Scilly in the last few hours and it will continue to push slowly northwards and east. Bits and pieces of Club Building through the day got a lot of dry weather, sunshine, through the afternoon in the cloud will build across the far south east. By the end of the afternoon we start to see some rain and it will turn breezy. Temperatures 11 16 , north to south. Picking up on the rain as we go through the evening and overnight, it moves into east anglia, then lincolnshire and yorkshire, and Northern England, exactly where we do not need or want it this Weather Front in the south west starting to weaken but will produce some rain before that happens and showers getting into scotland and Northern Ireland. Tomorrow this is what will produce the rain in parts of the east and there will be further rain to come. This front in the south will fizzle so we have a mixture of sunshine and showers. Northern ireland and scotland you might catch the shower here and there but for most it will be dry and a fair bit of sunshine. Temperatures 11 16. Let me stop for a second and point this out, this is the centre of an area of low pressure that was Storm Bernard named by the portuguese Weather Service but it is weak as it moves across us but you see it rotating and it will continue to do so as it pulls rate hearing tuesday and into wednesday. That is, google talk and more of an easterly or south easterly wind but then we have this Rain Coming In, a more potent set of runs from the south west so for the rain to come at times, driven in on this went across scotland and Northern England. But when there will be a lot of dry weather and sunshine. Then a more active Weather Front coming from the south west will bring heavy rain and stronger winds. Throughout wednesday night into thursday again it will push north east across areas that we really do not want it. Karen, thank you so much, places that have been struggling already. Yes, not as biblical as it was last week but more rain on the right. Carol, thank you. There are reports of people under 18 years old travelling from england to wales for cosmetic procedures as there is no law preventing it. Two years ago, under 18s were banned in england from having botox and lip fillers. Campaigners are now calling for wales to follow suit, as Gemma Dunstan reports. An estimated 900,000 Botox Injections are carried out in the uk each year and ruby is interested in having the treatment too. Personally, i would like lip fillers and it is down to the Beauty Standard at the moment and it has been, you know, everyone likes the look of fuller lips. It would just make me more confident. As she lives in wales, its not illegal for her to have this at any age, but she feels a law banning under 18 would be positive. Ifeel like it is a good law, as me, two or three years ago probably wouldnt have cared as much about the future outcome of it as i do now. In october 2021, england banned under 18s from botox style treatments for cosmetic surgery. But that hasnt stopped young people there taking advantage of the lack of law in wales. Yeah, weve definitely heard of cases where people have literally just crossed the border and come to wales and had these treatments done. And you know, there are unfortunately, i mean, it shouldnt even take a law actually, should it, for people to not inject under 18s . It should be something that ethically and morally you are against doing because of the risks involved. But unfortunately, there are many, many people that are still willing to do that. Save face received complaints about clinics and have heard from people who have come from england for treatment, including this parent from bristol. My 16 year old daughter was given lip fillers and wasnt asked her age. I called to complain and asked what shes playing at injecting kids under 18 and she just hung up on me and wont respond to my calls. My daughters lips look awful. You know, this is really a Crisis Waiting to happen with young people. And so the faster the government can act, the quicker that we can stop these unscrupulous people from injecting these young and vulnerable people. The Welsh Government say that there is a regulatory gap in wales and will be doing further work in this area. Its notjust patients that could be left vulnerable. Weve also heard from practitioners who say they feel exposed. Its led me, a welsh practitioner, to look to england for guidance and support, and my hope for regulation and legislation comes fundamentally from the uk government at the moment, because i feel like the Welsh Government arent really doing enough to aid Patient Safety in this industry. There is a lot of pressure over the Beauty Standards and fashions. Theyre always changing, so its just trying to keep up with the trends, really. Its an industry that lacks regulation, one that campaigners say needs action urgently. Coming up. Seven best known as strictly s head judge now Shirley Ballas has released her debut crime novel. A school in south london says the Housing Crisis is making it harder for children to learn because many are dealing with the impact of being homeless. At Harris Primary Academy in peckham, the majority of its pupils are living in temporary or overcrowded properties. An east London Hospital has blamed the Elizabeth Line for increased pressures on its Emergency Services and a fall in its performance levels. The royal london is right next to Whitechapel Station, which is on the Elizabeth Line. The hospital said attendance had risen since the railway launched, with figures suggesting more patients are now heading there instead of whipps cross or homerton hospitals. Temperatures tomorrow reaching around iii celsius. Now, as we head further through this week, it is going to stay largely unsettled. Fourteen trucks crossed from egypt through the Rafah Crossing Yesterday but the un and charities are warning it is still not enough as israel continues to launch air strikes on gaza. More than two weeks after the attack by hamas, which is regarded as a Terrorist Organisation by the uk, the Israeli Defence minister has warned the conflict could go on for months. Our middle east correspondent Yolande Knell reports. A sleepless night in gaza. From afar, the flashes of successive israeli air strikes in gaza city as israel steps up its bombing campaign. And amid more and more destruction, and a mounting death toll, the un is warning of a catastrophic humanitarian situation. Over the weekend, more than 30 lorry loads of aid were allowed into gaza from egypt, carrying food, water and medicines. Its just a fraction of what entered daily before israel put the hamas controlled territory under siege. Confirming the deliveries, the uns humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths called it a Glimmer Of Hope but said further supplies were desperately needed. With more than a million displaced people, some now living in this un tent city, there are urgent needs. People inside gaza need their most basic necessities, such as food, water, fuel and access to health services. So there is still a far, far way to go. Israel has signalled it will be sending its tanks and troops into gaza in the next stage of this war. After the deadliest attack in the countrys history, it says it aims to crush hamas. What happened was actually at a separate protest from the main march which took place in london on saturday, this protest was organised by an International Islamist organisation operating in many countries. They are banned in many countries, not here. They want sharia law imposed across the world and somebody at their protest on saturday was Chanting Forjihad. Very quickly, after the video was posted online, the metropolitan police came out of the traps and said they do not believe an offence was committed. I would expect the commissioner of the met will say at this meeting, this is a problem with the existing laws. The bar is very high. The Public Order Act and the Terrorism Act for a Terrorism Offence to be committed, such as this was that the government disagrees. Suella bravermans Home Office Said the video appeared to amount to terrorist violence. As well as the dispute ever what should have happened, a bit more pressure for the government to tighten up those laws and also a consideration over whether this group should be banned in the uk as it is in many other countries. The win also allowed him to give up hisjob as a tiler and devote more time to practise. He will now captain the england b1 team at the European Pool Championships in malta next month. It is the practice that does it. Can ou it is the practice that does it. Can you play . It is the practice that does it. Can you play . No. It is the practice that does it. Can you play . No. I it is the practice that does it. Cari you play . No, lam rubbish. They you play . No, iam rubbish. They felt would be ripped. Thank you. It is absolutely true. Good morning, everybody. This morning, for many of us, it is a cold start to the day. There is some frost and risk of ice on untreated surfaces in scotland and Northern England. As well as that, some and fog, particularly in the vale of york at the midlands, shropshire and also wales. You can see this big area of cloud was that this is a Weather Branch that is coming in, producing 26 millimetres orso coming in, producing 26 millimetres or so of rain across the Isles Of Scilly. Sunshine this morning across england and wales will be hazy. Clear skies across, and the north of england. Here we are starting up with sunshine. A cold start and if you show is ahead of the Rain Coming In across Northern Ireland. When the mist and fog lifts, a lot of dry weather to start the day across england and wales with one or two showers. This line of rain will slowly push north and east, getting into Northern Ireland later and pushing in across the south west. At the same time, the cloud will build across the south east. By the end of the afternoon we will be looking at some rain. Breezy across southern counties. Temperatures ten to 16 north to south. This evening and overnight this band of rain will move into east anglia, into east anglia, into lincolnshire, yorkshire and also Northern England. Areas where we really do not want any more rain. To the south we will also have a weakening Weather Front producing showery outbreaks of rain. One or two showers in Northern Ireland and scotland. A bit more cloud. Not as cold in the north this coming night as it was last night. A longer forecast later on in The Programme. Thank you. It can change the lives of children, who are looking for theirforever home. But over the last five years there has been a 23 decline in the number of children being adopted. Now, Adoption Agencies are trying to highlight the positive impact it can have. Tim muffetts been meeting some of the people celebrating adoption. Lean on me. This is more thanjust an online choir. Ill help you carry on. Its like a family. Its exciting. Its happy. Sometimes you need something about it. Just makes you feel better. The Adoptive London Choir was set up in 2020. Its a place to sing about and share the highs and the lows of adoption. Every member is either an adoptor or a foster carer or an adopted orfostered child. Ava was adopted by priscilla and her wife deedee in 2014. If i didnt get adopted, it wouldnt be very great. But now im very, very happy where i am. Its been a journey, but its been really rewarding at the same time. Yeah, really rewarding at the same time. In a way that i dont think we would ever have really have envisaged beforehand. Almost, you start off as strangers and kind of grow towards each other. So the choir, which you take part in as well, tell us about that. What impact does that have . You are with a unique group of people who understand yourjourney and theres lots of resonance. People are very, very supportive. People will share wins highs and lows. People share advice. It feels like when im singing, im singing away the negative parts of my adoption. Adoption is so rewarding and so challenging. Its a heady mix if we think about it. Its very nuanced and and its hard at times. Its super hard. And so, yeah, to have that lifeline, to have other people who understand you, other people who know where youre coming from and whats going on. Its a judgment free space. Whatever happens, well take that on. As well as online rehearsals, members often meet to offer support and advice in person. Adoption can be quite lonely because its difficult for other people to understand. If your child has behavioural problems, is perhaps that child in school it does put you apart perhaps from other parents. What the choir has done is given us anotherfamily, another whole group of supporters. There has been a 23 drop in the number of children being adopted in england over the past five years, according to the National Adoption recruitment steering group. Now it says thats partly down to greater efforts being made to help children live with extended family rather than being adopted. And many children available for adoption also have complex needs that require long term support. The process is quite long, but its there for a reason, and if youre willing to go through that process, its rewarding. What impact has adoption had on you and your husband . Oh, its a huge impact. Our whole life has changed because of it, and its just. Its just an amazing feeling. Tom and his husband are hoping to adopt a second child, a six month old baby boy. And the Adopt London Choir will be there for the whole family. Tim muffett, bbc news. Incredible stuff. Joining us now is sarahjohal from adoption england, and photographer philip sinden. Philip was adopted himself and captured a collection of portraits for National Adoption week. Morning to you both. Nice to see you. Sarah, letsjust talk morning to you both. Nice to see you. Sarah, lets just talk about what we said at the beginning, in the number of children being adopted. Why is that happening . It is a good thing in some ways. More effort is focused on children living with their families. Effort is focused on children living with theirfamilies. If effort is focused on children living with their families. If their birth parents cannot look after them very often the extended family comes forward. In a way that is the reason. Also because also because childrens needs are much different than children where historically. Children who are adopted from care have expensed any loss and trauma. Sometimes my brothers and sisters need placing to get my older children who are over five, children with more complex health issues. That is part of the reason why because the people do not always think they can put themselves forward. Also there might be some myths about who can adopt. What forward. Also there might be some myths about who can adopt. What are the . You myths about who can adopt. What are they . You can myths about who can adopt. What are they . You can adopt if you are single, if you are married, a l single, if you are married, a same sex couple. Only three things preclude you. You have to be over 21 and you have not had to have had any offences against children. Third, you need to live in the uk. You can have a residency from other countries but you need to be domiciled in the uk. Those are the only three things, actually. Your ado tion only three things, actually. Your adoption journey only three things, actually. Your adoption journey was only three things, actually. Your adoption journey was somewhat different to what sarah laid out. Tell us a bit about your experience. I was adopted when i was 18 months old. I spent three months and a mother and baby home with my mother before that. She was 19. It was a time when i think mothers were encouraged to give up their children. I was adopted into a lovely middle class family. They had already adopted two children. I was the third, the youngest. I am half pakistani and half scottish. In some ways it was hard to know how to identify. On the whole it was good. My identify. On the whole it was good. My mother, my adoptive mother developed multiple sclerosis when i was four, five years old. Through my teens she got increasingly worse and she died when i was 20 years old. In some ways, for me, it felt like i had lost one mother when i was adopted and then i lost another mother. I did not really have that nature we like to have. I have recently gone on a journey to find my biological mother and father and i am documenting that. Using my skills as a photographer. I have started to make a documentary about it and i am doing it with a friend of mine, a poet i got to know because i photographed him. Loath . Of mine, a poet i got to know because i photographed him. Why now . Wh do ou because i photographed him. Why now . Why do you feel because i photographed him. Why now . Actually, lan asked me to be an a photograph he was organising for the observer where he had 50 people who had been through care and adoption. The photograph was taken at the founding museum. I was in the picture and did not take it. I said, i wonder if the museum could help me find my adoptive parents, my biological parents. He said, i will do that. So he has helped me enormously. Using twitter and things like that. We put out my mothers signature on twitter. He was seeing things i was not seeing in files i had because he has been throughout the fall. Twitter went crazy. People saying, i think it is this, i think it is. I think it is this, i think it is. I think you might find it has been a really amazing thing. As i said, i am half pakistani. I had just found out my fathers name for the first time in a file. Literally three months ago. Ifound out time in a file. Literally three months ago. I found out that he time in a file. Literally three months ago. Ifound out that he had three other children and one of them are still in pakistan. He is a major star out there. This is a half brother of mine. I am looking to try to connect and document the whole thing and maybe we can make it into something that will commit you no. That is the point. Peoples experience of adoption will vary so much depending on when they were adopted and where. And these stories, people here, like philip, who are discovering their stories all these years later and having to piece together because there are not clear records. That is what is astonishing. They are told information as they grow up in an age appropriate way that the reason they could not stay with their birth family so this does not happen to people. Adoption anyway is modernising and has to modernise because it is really important for children that they understand their identity and that is what we have been doing around National Adoption week this week. You need to get children used to a word when they are very young and tell them as soon as you can so they can understand it and ask questions and feel open about it. The campaign we work on is about trying to dispel some of the myths and trying to say to people, there is support for you at every step of the journey. Tell at every step of the ourney. Tell us about the h at every step of the journey. Tell us about the pictures. They are all about raising awareness. These are the photographs he had taken on each of them tells an individual story. It was great to be involved. The fact i was adopted, they all were adopted. People from different generations where everyone had a different experience. A lot of the people were talking about memory boxes, something i was not familiar with, that people are now given. Just for me to connect with these people was really great. Nice to time now to get the news, travel and weather where meet you. Well, its that time of year when poppies start to appear ahead of remembrance day. Many of them are made at a factory in richmond. And for the past century, its offered jobs to ex servicemen and women who may be struggling. Raf Veteran Stevejoined the team eight years ago. They took me on as a tour assistant. Temperatures tomorrow reaching around iii celsius. Now, as we head further through this week, it is going to stay largely unsettled. A school in south london says the Housing Crisis is making it harder for children to learn because many are dealing with the impact of being homeless. At Harris Primary Academy in peckham, the majority of its pupils are living in temporary or overcrowded accommodation. The government says its spending £2 billion to tackle homelessness. Rain coming in from the southwest and later from the south east. All the details throughout the rest of this morning because s programme. Its monday, 23rd of october. More aid has reached gaza as Rishi Sunakjoins other western leaders in calling on israel to respect International Humanitarian law. Translation it will take one month, two months, | three months and at the end there will be no more hamas. Before hamas makes contact with our tanks and our infantry, they will know the shells from our airforce. And israel is also striking in lebanon, as along its northern border, the troops fight the powerful Lebanese Armed group, hezbollah, raising fears of a wider regional conflict. Then, there are other complications in israels Military Offensive in gaza. More than 200 hostages being held by hamas. Some of theirfamilies have been meeting the president with a simple message, bring them home. Yolande knell, bbc news, jerusalem. Were joined now by our chief International Correspondent lyse doucet in Southern Israel and anna foster in the north of the country. First, lets talk to lyse doucet. Lyse, there has been some Strong Language from both more strikes overnight on gaza. More strikes overnight on gaza. Yes this morning the Israeli Defence forces say they hit 320 targets overnight. Every morning they released a total. Every night on the first days of this crisis which erupted on October The 7th they have been hitting hundreds, if not thousands of targets was that they say they are going after infrastructure and top political leaders. The Palestinian Authority says this morning many palestinian homes were hit without morning and that the bombardment is notjust in the north of gaza, which israel had given many days ago an order to palestinians to leave and reiterated that order over the weekend, they are also hitting in the south, in khan yunis, where hundreds of thousands of gazans had been trying to find a safe place and finding that no place is safe. The bombs keep falling. Tbs, that no place is safe. The bombs keep falling that no place is safe. The bombs keep falling. A diplomatic efforts continue to keep falling. A diplomatic efforts continue to try keep falling. A diplomatic efforts continue to try to keep falling. A diplomatic efforts continue to try to that keep falling. A diplomatic efforts continue to try to that a continue to try to that a humanitarian crisis. More western leaders will arrive in the region in the coming days. The coming days. Yes, a dutch tremier the coming days. Yes, a dutch premier is the coming days. Yes, a dutch premier is coming, the coming days. Yes, a dutch premier is coming, so the coming days. Yes, a dutch premier is coming, so it the coming days. Yes, a dutch premier is coming, so it is the coming days. Yes, a dutch premier is coming, so it is the | premier is coming, so it is the french president , emmanuel macron. It is interesting, when first there was the german chancellor, followed by us President Joe Biden, then british Prime Minister rishi sunak, there was a statement from paris saying the french president will come when there is something concrete to discuss. Whether or not there is remains to be seen. France, like so many other nationalities, has a lot of interest, notjust its own interest in this conflict here, there is of the conflict spreading, french nationals were killed and some are missing and possibly are among the 200 hostages. We heard from the white house overnight in a statement saying the us President Joe Biden had had a conversation with the israeli premier, Benjamin Netanyahu and there was an agreement on a continued flow of aid. The United Nations describes it as a drop in the ocean of needs. Lets go straight to anna foster, who is in northern israel. There are fears about a wide escalation. This border fears about a wide escalation. Ti 3 border between israel and lebanon is always tense at the best of times but nothing like now. We are seeing regular exchanges of fire across the border between hezbollah in the north and the israel Defence Forces in the south. All along the border, multiple times a day. That is not something that usually happens, it started after the attacks in Southern Israel two weeks ago and has grown in scale ever since. That is why we saw israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the border here yesterday, talking to some of the hundreds of thousands of troops that have been put into place in case the war spreads north and a new front opens up between israel and lebanon. We so again yesterday, more towns and villages evacuated along here. It reflects that growing concern that has bala, backed by iran like hamas, one of their strong allies, proscribed Terrorist Organisation in many parts of the world. Iran will decide to really activate hezbollah and activate a widespread attack on israel. Iranians backed militias in iraq have sparked into life, drone attacks on us forces based there. We saw three missiles fired by rebels in yemen towards israel as well. It all adds to be slow and gradual build which is simmering on the northern border and the real concerns, articulated in particular by the us, he sent warships go more and more military reinforcements to try to use two to stop things on the northern border escalating out of control and turn this into a real regional war across the middle east. To try to stop things. The Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, will question the metropolitan police commissioner, sir mark rowley, later today about his forces response to incidents during pro palestinian demonstrations in london on saturday. The met said it had not identified any offences in a video posted on social media which showed a man chanting jihad at a rally staged by an Islamist Group which was separate from the main march. We are joined by our chief political correspondent, henry zeffman. Too many in government, it seems many in government, it seems extraordinary to see the footage of this man Chanting Forjihad at the protest, followed very swiftly by the metropolitan police saying they believed no offence had been committed. As you said, this was separate from the main march on saturday, at eight protest organised by an Islamist Group which operates in many countries around the world, who want to impose sharia law globally. They are banned in many countries around the world, including much of the arab world, also some European Countries like germany and the netherlands but not here. Robertjenrick, suella here. Robert jenrick, Suella Bravermans here. Robertjenrick, Suella Bravermans number two at the home office, said at the weekend he actually believed there was an apparent of an offence on saturday in that video clip, the person appeared to be inciting terrorist violence. Clearly, the metropolitan polices operational decision was that was not the case. I suspect at this meeting, sir mark rowley will point to long standing concerns he has expressed publicly before he was commissioner of the met about gaps in the uks anti terror legislation and perhaps he will argue that the legislation simply does not cover the kinds of things the government may wish to be offences but are not in particular offences. I think we may see more political pressure around that question in the coming days and weeks. We may also see some mps calling on the government to review the question why that organisation is not banned. Also some questions from conservative mps about whether the government has mac own legislation in recent years, designed to combat terror and also to circumscribe some protest, have gone as far as the government would have liked them to go. Have liked them to go. Thank you for now. The Environment Agency has warned that further flooding is expected in england because of the heavy rain during storm babet. The final highwire challenge across the london stadium will air as part of stand up to cancer on channel a on friday 3rd november. It is 8a9 m. Heres carol with a look at the weather. Good morning to you i will start with Flood Warnings, there a lot of things dont enforce especially across central england. If you want more information you can find out the bbc website or on the Environment Agency website and they do fluctuate. If you are stepping out, cole started the day in the north. Currently at 3 in perth, freezing in newcastle, further south and we are looking at a temperature of ia degrees but it is significantly milder. As we go through the morning we have mist and fought to clear, especially from the villa you work, the midlands, shropshire and wales. Some of that will be slow to clear and we are looking at icy stretches across the north of england and also across parts of scotland, it has been cold and frosty during the night. We have had heavy rain courtesy of this Weather Front, had heavy rain courtesy of this weatherfront, in the isles had heavy rain courtesy of this Weather Front, in the Isles Of Scilly in the last few hours theres been a6. 6 millimetres, a birkdale each got High Pressure is in charge today and more or less keeping things fine unsettled for much of the uk. Going through the morning you see how the rain very slowly pushes through cornwall, edges into Northern Ireland. Some high cloud around so the sunshine will be hazy but a lot of dry weather and sunny spells. You see in the south east the cloud starts to build an bc rain arriving later in the afternoon. Breezy across the south, temperatures 11 16 or 17. This evening and overnight the rain in the south east precious north into parts of the midlands, east anglia, lincolnshire, yorkshire and Northern England so its falling in areas we have already had flooding and do not need or want any more rain. This Weather Front need or want any more rain. This weatherfront from need or want any more rain. This Weather Front from the rest will drape across southern england and wales and there will be more cloud across Northern Ireland and scotland with some shower so that means its not as cold to start the day in the north as it is this morning. Heading through tomorrow, the low pressure bringing rain overnight into the east and north, the remnants of storm but not named by the portuguese metrological service, not a storm across our shores but itll bring in rain as it pushes south east before eventually clearing. There will be showers in the west, a lot of dry weather and temperatures 11 16 degrees. Heading into wednesday, there goes that area of low pressure that we have a more active set of friends coming in from the south west. We will lose the rain for a time but we have quite a strong easterly or south easterly wind so that means we will see further showers coming in across the north. This area of rain that will be heavy and persistent through wednesday evening and overnight, pushing north eastwards. Thank you. Its 75 years since hundreds of people from the caribbean came to the uk to build a new life. The Windrush Generation came to help rebuild post war britain but they often faced hostility when they got here.
