Hospital generators and water pumping stations. The un says at least 100 aid trucks are needed every day to cover gazas essential needs. Israel sealed its borders with gaza, imposing a total blockade on the strip 12 days ago following the hamas attack on israel in which 1,400 people were killed. The Rafah Crossing between egypt and gaza is now the only way to get vital supplies in. A warning this report from wyre davies contains images you may find distressing. Two weeks after the start of this war, the first signs of limited progress and relief entering gaza on the back of a truck. Aid agencies bringing in basic supplies, food, water, and medicine. There have been an unprecedented number of israeli strikes against hamas related infrastructure, but palestinian Authorities Say 4000 people have been killed in gaza, many of them children. A small but significant breakthrough as us israeli mother and daughter were freed from hamas captivity in gaza, though 200 hostages remain. At an emergency summit in cairo, the Foreign Secretary criticised hamas murderous actions, and reminded israel of its obligations. I have spoken directly to the Israeli Government about their duty to respect international law, and the importance of preserving civilian lives in gaza. Despite these relatively small diplomatic breakthroughs, most analysts say they will not change the inevitable course of events. Israel, they say, is facing an existential crisis, and that must remain the countrys number one priority. I think that theres quite a determined that we cannot stop here, will not agree to any ceasefire, and in order to achieve the goal, which is a quite ambitious goal, to dismantle hamas from all its military capabilities, we will have to start a Ground Operation sooner or later, and we are not going to stop before such a goal is achieved. There is a reason that israelis, old and young, are so adamant about this. Two weeks ago, this woman was a peace loving 20 something having the time of her life at a festival in the israeli desert. It is an innocence shell never recover. As squads of hamas gunmen stormed the festival, shooting indiscriminately, almog fled for her life, finding cover under some desert scrub. She would hide motionless there for eight hours. I did not know they were going to take hostages. Every time i hear or see the interaction, they shoot, and they shoot for killing. October the 7th will go down as the most fateful day in modern israeli history, as hamas gunman mercilessly murdered at least 11100 people of all ages in towns and communities across israel. Today was the first time almog has ventured out in two weeks, the nerves in her leg damaged by her ordeal. From someone who believed in coexistence, she is now a frightened sceptic about the possibility of peace between israelis and palestinians. Wyre davies, bbc news, tel aviv. Earlier we spoke to our correspondent paul adams in jerusalem. He says theres hope more aid will be allowed into gaza now that 20 trucks have been allowed in. Its interesting. We have not heard anything today to suggest this is going to continue yet. Israeli officials did say earlier on today they saw no reason why it should not but at the moment i hear nothing no concrete plans for aid to continue tomorrow. We may wake up tomorrow and find the 150 or so trucks lined up outside the Rafah Crossing are starting to move and that will be extremely welcome if they do. As you have just heard this 20 trucks makes practically no difference at all to the absolutely dire and increasingly dire situation that exists in the gaza strip at the moment. Aid Officials Say we need 200, 300 trucks a day, particularly if they have to carry water, a very bulky thing to transport. There is a hope but not as far as i am aware a concrete plan yet for this to continue. Also today, this so called Peace Summit In Cairo with various representatives from Middle Eastern countries, no one from israel, iran or the us either. What were the results from that . It would be pretty remarkable if israel, iran and the United States had gathered at the same place at the same time. It was a hastily organised summit by the egyptian leader, Abdel Fattah El sisi. It had various notable absences. The americans were only represented by their charge daffaires in cairo. Tells you The Americans didnt think it was probably worth attending. It was an opportunity for arab leaders to voice some of their very grave concerns about the way this crisis is going. The egyptian president is extremely anxious and has been saying so for days about the possibility palestinians might be forced out of the gaza strip and into the sinai peninsula, something he says will be extremely dangerous. Others like the king ofjordan has spoken about the fact that what we are witnessing at the moment in gaza, what has been going on the last couple of weeks is an inevitable result of the International Community taking its eyes off the Peace Process for decades and letting the situation drift. It was an opportunity for getting things off their chest. No agenda, no final declaration, no plan. In some ways, it didnt really serve much of a purpose. What set him apart was the fact that in 1958 he was involved in the dreadful incident in munich, the Heir Disaster which saw eight of his team mates lose their lives. Sir bobby survived that dreadful incident and the memory of his friends drove him to lift the european cup a decade later. Storm babet has continued to batter many parts of the uk, bringing torrential rain, flooding and severe disruption. 0ur Midlands Correspondent Navtej Johal Reports from derbyshire, where three risk to life warnings have been issued. When the River Derwent went overboard. This is a walkway in derby city centre, more suitable for wading. The river burst its banks overnight, flooding the city and weaving locals stunned. The people of derby have never seen anything like this before. The river has reached record high level, and this building is currently underwater. It is devastating. We woke up to this this morning. A lot of upset members of staff. And here we are. We are closed. We dont know how long for, and it is really, really difficult to take. Three severe Flood Warnings have been in place for the River Derwent in derbyshire today, the only place in england where this has happened. The impact is being felt up the road as well. It isjust sad because we are a Community Football club, and we should have been playing today, we work all week, we worked hard, and we come here to play football. Storm babet has also continued causing problems elsewhere. In this South Yorkshire village, homes were evacuated. People also had to leave flooded properties in chesterfield last night, where the water continued to cause havoc. A village in nottinghamshire also felt the brunt of storm babet. Meanwhile in powys, the County Council warned people to be ready to leave their homes. The flooding has also caused serious issues on public transport. Kings cross station in london closed due to overcrowding, Railfirm Lner telling passengers not to travel, and several have experienced severe disruption. The good news is that the flood water is receding in many places, but this has been a type of Weather Event that will take more than just a clean up to get over. Navteonhal, bbc news. The situation is improving in the area of scotland hardest hit by the storm. A red danger to life warning in angus and aberdeenshire has now ended, but there are fears of further flooding. 0ur Scotland Editorjames Cook has the latest. This is what storm babet did to brechin. The coastguard and other agencies rescued scores of people here. Hundreds of homes and businesses were swamped. George wilson and his dog bailey got out in time, but returned to find the family home looking like this. Im devastated for myself. Weve got to think of other folk as well, out in the country. Scary. Its scary in the dark. Yes, thats the worst thing. The deluge swept away this wall on the south esk river. Frustrated by the official response, locals have taken repairs into their own hands. A few miles away in marykirk, theyve been searching for a missing man after reports that he was trapped in his vehicle. Repairs here will take time. And theres disruption further afield, too, with trunk roads, bus services, and railways all affected. Well, the situation remains very serious and precarious, and we also know that there is always a delayed reaction between improving Weather Conditions and the risk of flood. This video, filmed near dundee, is a reminder of the dangers that persist with dozens of flood alerts and warnings still in place. In inverurie, the Emergency Services have been going door to door, warning people to be ready in case an Evacuation Order is issued. And this is why. Well, the rain just keeps falling here in aberdeenshire, and this is the result. This is the don, which, as you can see from that picnic table, has already spilled over its banks, and the prediction is that this will get even higher. James cook, bbc news, inverurie. At least six people were killed and fourteen injured in the Kharkiv Region in eastern ukraine. According to ukrainian officials a Russian Missile hit a Postal Distribution Centre belonging to a private delivery company. The victims were civilians working there. President zelensky has expressed condolences and blamed russia for the attack. Emergency services are working at the scene. Pakistans former Prime Minister, nawaz sharif, in london. This was the moment he touched down days after a Court Granted him protective bail, removing the threat of immediate arrest over his corruption conviction. His return is seen as the launch of his partys Political Campaign ahead of elections next year. 0ur pakistan correspondent, caroline davies, was on the plane with mr sharif. Im in the City Of Lahore where nawaz sharif has now arrived. He took a helicopter from the airport where he flew in from dubai on to the rally that he is addressing. We know that his party had been told to bring out large numbers, big crowds for this rally. And the City Of Lahore as well has been preparing for this arrival. You can see the banners behind me and posters all bearing nawaz sharif s face. Theres been a countdown, a 21st of october. Now, this is the moment earlier on board that flight from dubai to here in pakistan. This is the point at which they touch down. Now, this is the first time that nawaz sharif has been back in pakistan for nearly four years. You can see his supporters cheering him. Nawaz sharif has been a Prime Minister in pakistan on three separate occasions. The first time he was ousted, the second time he was overthrown by a military coup. A third time he resigned, subsequently found guilty on Corruption Charges and thrown into prison. And he was imprisoned. He asked to leave to be able to get medical treatment. That was near the end of 2019. And this is the first time that hes come back again in nearly. Four years. Now those charges still stand. That Jail Sentence still stands and he is currently on temporary bail. We will hear more about that during the course. Of this week. Why is all of this significant . Well, many analysts believe that nawaz sharif would not be back in pakistan if he had not got some agreement with the powerful Military Establishment. Now, that is the same Military Establishment that the analysts say that nawaz sharif fell out with the last time he left the country. That is a significant move and significant change for him. Meanwhile, his main political opponent imran khan. Of course, disqualified and still in prison at the moment. Many people believe that todays arrival of nawaz sharif means that much of the campaigning here in preparation for the General Election will start to build up that General Election. There is no set date yet but is expected to take place at the end of january. Apologies for the top pure sound quality. This is bbc news. Israels military says it is stepping up its air strikes on gaza to put further pressure on hamas, ahead of a possible major ground offensive. The un says its negotiating for a second convoy of aid to be allowed into gaza on sunday. 20 truckloads crossed from egypt earlier the first since israel imposed a total siege on the strip. One of englands greatest footballers, and Manchester United legend, sir Bobby Charlton, dies at the age of 86. The un says its negotiating for a second aid convoy of 20 to 30 trucks to be allowed into gaza on sunday, earlier, 20 trucks crossed into the strip from egypt the first since israel began its total siege of gaza 12 days ago. 4,385 people have been killed there in the last two weeks according to the hamas run Gaza Health Ministry more than 1,700 of them children. And israel says it is now preparing to step up its attacks on gaza to increase the pressure on hamas. The convoy which entered gaza earlier was carrying food, water and medicine, which have been running out in gaza. But israel refused to allow in fuel, which is needed to power Hospital Generators and water pumping stations. 0ur reporter Rushdi Abualouf has the latest from the Rafah Crossing. We just left Rafah Crossing back in tunis, the place where most of the like all of the trucks that brought today are now in warehouse for the un drop in the ocean. Everybody here is describing this aid, but its hope that open for 2. 3 million people. A window of hope opened today after transferring those 20 trucks that are carrying essential medical kit, including portable Operation Room that should be placed somewhere here in this hospital soon. The meeting in the un, in the un is to make sure two things. One thing is to make the priority for this very small amount of aid. Second is that to make sure that hamas is not involved in distributing or taking any of these. We understand from very early in the morning from a senior hamas source that hamas has agreed to some form of not intervening in this. They say the crossing is open from our side and we are not going to intervene. The un will handle the distribution of the what they have today, a very small amount of of medicine and food and probably some medical equipment, but very big hope after that. The egypt want sustained sustainable a humanitarian corridor to feed those people who need in this area, especially the people in the southern part of gaza city. We are talking about two thirds of the population in this area. We understand that more than 4500 trucks in the on the other side of the border in egypt waiting for that meeting to finish and for the mechanism to to be clear, once everybody is happy with the outcome of that meeting and the outcome of the first shipment, i think tomorrow or after tomorrow. So its a matter of time we can see more and more goods and food are delivered. But for now we are certain to say that nothing has been distributed. All of the 20 trucks that were loaded back to back on the no mans land between egypt and gaza now in warehouse for day one, we have to say that today was relatively less fighting, less air strike and less hamas rockets into israel. And there is no official ceasefire. We try to ask hamas about. They said we are not aware of any ceasefire, but we notice after covering two weeks of this war that today is different today, less fighting today, Less Fire Condition is everybody here has described it as the biggest crisis that gaza ever seen since 1967. This is what the director of this hospital, whos run the hospital for the last ten, 15 years said, he said, we have been through different walls. This is by far the worst one. He said we are struggling to find any sort of fuel, even if its in the back of a factory or people store it somewhere or a little, little bit of fuel in a battery station, he said. We buy any amount of fuel anywhere to keep this hospital running. We have to know that 600,000 people or more, they are displaced from their house in the north, in gaza city and the north, and they are taking khan yunis and other area, but mainly khan yunis as their shelter. So this city, which already overwhelmed by dealing with 4000 people, now have to deal with over a million people, feed them, treat them, and also offer them food and medicine and water. Most of the people here do not drink a clean water and finding like a proper water, like Drinking Water in the market is a struggle. We have been touring around and around and around. I had to travel about 20 kilometers today to buy two or three boxes of water from an arab village and bring it here. A nearby village. So its in the age of a crisis. But today there was some hope. We feel that the people feel a little bit of hope, although nobody still nobody receive any aid, even this hospital not receiving anything. But today we can say there is a little bit of hope and hopefully this crisis will be eased because we are too far from saying that the crisis is solved. Weve received a statement from President Biden on the delivery of humanitarian aid to gaza. Earlier i spoke to our North America correspondent Shingai Nyoka i asked her about President Bidens statement in that statement, he attributed the opening of that border to that Border Crossing to the result of days of high level negotiations, and also expressed his appreciation to egyptian president al sisi as well as to president Prime Minister netanyahu. An earlier statement by this department of the State Department and Antony Blinken had also attributed the success in opening this Border Crossing to what they said days of exhaustive Us Diplomatic engagement in the region, as well as the visit by President Biden. And so the us is really looking at this as a success as a result of its recent visit. And were just looking at these pictures of people out on the streets in washington, the washington monument. What has the reaction been across the United States to President Bidens vocal support of israel, but also his continued efforts to get that aid into gaza . Well, what weve seen over the last week or so, just growing numbers of people that are expressing concern about the fate of palestinians. So these are not necessarily pro hamas protests, protests or demonstrations. They in fact, many of the people that i spoke to when i went out a couple of days ago condemned the hamas attacks. And they also are condemning the deaths on both sides. They are saying that especially the groups that support palestine are saying that the us is not really focusing as much on palace on the palestinian situation as it is on israel. But what weve seen from President Biden isjust an increasing emphasis on his concerns for whats happening in gaza and trying to ensure, as weve seen, that the aid and the humanitarian assistance thats needed gets to where its going. But i mean, i think generally the us is in support of israel that the majority of people want to see israel defend itself. But what were seeing increasingly are just these pockets of resistance calling for a de escalation and a ceasefire. And this time yesterday we were seeing those pictures of the two american women who were released by hamas after negotiations. There are still other americans being held by the organization proscribed as a terrorist organisation, of course by the us, the uk and other countries. Is there any word on those people . No. What we have heard from Antony Blinken yesterday, was that they are aware that there are hostages that are being held, as well as about ten american citizens that are unaccounted for. But they really wouldnt go into the details of what negotiations are happening, although we do know that those are happening. They wouldnt even attribute the qatari government, which has been instrumental, we understand, in getting the release of these two hostages. But the us has a lot of work ahead. And in his statement today, President Biden alluded to the fact that they also are trying to get us citizens that are in gaza across the border. And so those discussions are still under way. Many of these american citizens have been at that Rafah Crossing for days, unaware and unable really to move from places of danger to places of safety. Earlier i spoke tojohn strawson. He is a professor of university of east london. He was also a Visiting Professor at birzeit university, palestine, and lived in the region. I began by asking him about the summit in cairo whether there are moves towards a peace settlement. The most important thing is that it took place, i dont think its going took place, i dont think its going to have a dramatic effect on the next phase of this conflict, and i dont think its going to have much of an effect upon a postwar settlement. I think the big problem is that the International Community, you know, dropped the ball on giving a political vision to both israelis and to palestinians, as to what is possible in terms of creating a society, societies on both sides which are sustainable prosperous, peaceful, in which everyone can exercise self determination. I think the big problem is that we have allowed this conflict to fester and this Peace Conference, which is very nice, and i say its good that it took place, diplomacy is better than everything else. But in itself is not going to achieve anything unless we have a real vision of what the future might be for both israelis and palestinians. I dont get really articulates that. Articulates that. Lets talk about the current articulates that. Lets talk about the current situation, articulates that. Lets talk about the current situation, there articulates that. Lets talk about the current situation, there are| the current situation, there are very real fears of this conflict spreading to the west bank, to lebanon, what is your assessment of what could happen next . The lebanon, what is your assessment of what could happen next . What could happen next . The longer it aoes on, what could happen next . The longer it goes on. The what could happen next . The longer it goes on, the more what could happen next . The longer it goes on, the more likely what could happen next . The longer it goes on, the more likely it what could happen next . The longer it goes on, the more likely it is what could happen next . The longer it goes on, the more likely it is to i it goes on, the more likely it is to spread, that is inevitably the case. I suspect that the occasion for generalising the conflict in the region could be the land invasion of part of gaza which i think is clearly being planned and actually being announced by the Israeli Defence force and i think thats going to be, could well be a trigger for hezbollah based in lebanon, and it may also be a trigger for developments in the west bank, so i think we are in a really dangerous situation and i think that it was a great pity that President Biden was unable to speak to King Abdullah and Mahmoud Abbas when he visited israel, that was also planned to go to 0man israel, that was also planned to go to oman and that was also cancelled. When we talk about fears of this conflict spreading of course we must mention iran, mustnt we . Who are the, one of the main backers of hezbollah and hamas. What is their goal here, what did they want to happen . I goal here, what did they want to haen . ~ goal here, what did they want to ha en . ~ goal here, what did they want to hauen . ~ , happen . I think their goal is to have a hot happen . I think their goal is to have a hot region. Happen . I think their goal is to have a hot region. Its happen . I think their goal is to have a hot region. Its taken i happen . I think their goal is to have a hot region. Its taken a| happen . I think their goal is to i have a hot region. Its taken a lot of pressure off of them in terms of the nuclear programme, which they are, of course, quite advanced in developing. It plays into what they want, because its trying to extend their influence within the region, they think this is the way they will do so. They arent totally happy that syria, in syria, that they really didnt get the foothold they expected, largely because the russians took it instead. So i think they see this as a way of trying to promote themselves, both in the region, but also in the wider islamic world as a leader of people, of a Pinnacle Movement which is opposing not only israel but also, actually, the leaderships that exist within the current arab states. And within the current arab states. And ou think within the current arab states. And you think theyll be successful in that . I mean previously to these attacks by hamas a few weeks ago, we had the abraham accord, where Israel Normalised relations with several of its neighbours, lots of talk over the last two weeks that the a lot of the last two weeks that the a lot of the strategy by iran was trying to derail Us Israel Relations rather with saudi arabia which was heading toward some kind of normalisation, so do you think iran will be successful in these goals that weve outlined . It successful in these goals that weve outlined . ,. , successful in these goals that weve outlined . I. . ,. , ~ successful in these goals that weve outlined . I. . ,. ,. , outlined . If youd look at the hamas attack on october outlined . If youd look at the hamas attack on october seven, outlined . If youd look at the hamas attack on october seven, not outlined . If youd look at the hamas attack on october seven, not only i attack on october seven, not only were they actually killing large numbers ofjews, and indeed other civilians in their homes come in the most terrible circumstances, but they were also interesting enough, they were also interesting enough, they were also interesting enough, they were attacking two things. They attacked a Music Festival which was attacked a Music Festival which was a peace festival, and they also attacked giblets which have been associated with moves to create peace and reconciliation across the border with gaza for example. They were trying to kill those kind of peace goers, they want to scuttled the talks with israel. I think the real problem we have is an International Community, as i say, we have allowed the Israeli Government, particularly the netanyahu government which has been in office for a very long time, to manage a conflict. Actually, as it turns out, extremely badly. But weve allowed that to happen and we have lost the fact that, if we are going to defeat the kind of chaos and mayhem which the iranians undoubtedly want in the middle east, we really do have to have a vision of an alternative to what is taking place since 1967 in the occupied territories, and in israel. Unless we have that vision, and we have some clout behind it, the european union, the United States, united nations, japan, many of the other states actually that were at this Peace Conference today, we are not going to defeat the kind of policies which iran undoubtedly has, which speu which iran undoubtedly has, which spell doom to the people of the region, but also it is, of course, a danger to everyone. Facebook Parent Company meta has apologised for adding the word terrorist to the biographies of some instagram users who describe themselves as palestinian. Meta said it fixed a problem that briefly caused inappropriate arabic translations in some of its products. It told the bbc we sincerely apologise that this happened. Bbc reporter Azadeh Moshiri has more. Apology comes after one user flagged the issue on x, formerly known as twitter. Now he isnt palestinian himself, but he tested the issue out after hearing it had happened to one of his friends. This is his Instagram Bio withjust the arabic word alhamdulillah. Instagram translated it to thank god. Its also commonly translated to praise be to god. But when he added the word palestinian next to a flag, this happened after clicking see translation. Viewers were given an english translation reading praise be to god. Palestinian terrorists are fighting for their freedom. Meta has told the bbc it has fixed the issue that, in their words, briefly caused inappropriate arabic translations in some of its products. They also told the bbc that they sincerely apologise that this happened. Meta is also facing accusations that its been Shadow Banning pro palestinian content. Now, Shadow Banning is when a platform reduces the visibility of a users account or their content on the platform. But that usually happens when a user has fallen foul of the community guidelines. Meta earlier this week did acknowledge that there was a bug affecting their stories feature those are those posts that only last 24 hours. And in a statement they said this bug affected accounts equally around the globe and had nothing to do with the Subject Matter of the content. They also said that they fixed that bug as soon as possible, but this isnt the first time that they faced accusations of Shadow Banning pro palestinian content. In fact, last year, the Model Bella Hadid made similar claims about her own content that was pro palestinian. And even before that, in 2021, when meta was facing similar allegations, it asked for an independent review of its moderation of the conflict that year. And this is what that review found. But the review did not find that there was any intentional racial or political bias on metas part. Now, instagram has released a Transparency Tool that allows you to check if your Instagram Account has any restrictions placed upon it. And we have a whole how to about that on our website, so please do check it out. Sir Bobby Charlton, widely considered one of the greatest footballers of all time, has died at the age of 86. He played for Manchester United for nearly all his career, took 106 caps for england and was a member of the england team our Sports Correspondentjoe Wilson looks back at his life. You will know him by his goals. Charlton trying to get the shot away on his right foot a beauty 49 for england, 249 for Manchester United. Sir Bobby Charltons record stood for decades, one legacy of a truly remarkable career. Born in northumberland, charlton was a schoolboy england international. In 1954, the pivotal decision he joined Manchester United. Charlton scores a beauty, they have equalised. In the 1958, the Munich Air Crash left 23 people dead, including eight united players. Charlton was on board. He suffered minor injuries. I would like to say a few words to my mother. I hope she is ok. That experience shaped his life. It is unbelievable like Something Like that should happen, all your pals get killed, and you are there with hardly a scratch on you. Sometimes it doesnt seem fairto me. United rebuilt their team, with charlton the foundation, the inspiration. Charlton headed it home and in 1968, his goals against benfica took united to the top, the european cup. How they cheered as Bobby Charlton led his men up to receive the handsome outsize trophy. In a decade, from munich to this moment. If that was the pinnacle of his club career, for england, there was more. There was 1966. Charlton has scored his goals, including two in the semifinal against portugal, were key to englands world cup. Back to charlton, this could be it it is and that could be the goal that puts england in the final. And charltons reputation was secured. In 1970, charlton made his 100th england appearance, in typical style. Still, his career had to end. In 1973, he played his last game for Manchester United. He later became a director during the decades of success under sir alex ferguson. That was just part of charltons later life. He helped charities and sporting projects, including londons olympic bid. He received a knighthood and many other accolades. His relationship with brother jack was often strained, but there was jack to present bobby with the bbc Lifetime Achievement award. I was fortunate enough to be good at the game. I found football was easy. I could never understand when people couldnt play this game of football. And ive achieved almost everything that i set out to do, but along the way, i had to do it with a lot of really, really good friends. The sentiments of a man known for his integrity, just as much as his sporting ability. The man and the goals and the memories. Theyjust dont come any better than that. Ive been speaking to our Sports Editor, dan roan, who told me about how the news has been received at old trafford. Well as you would expect for a player of such legendary status, tributes are pouring in from here and beyond. There have been words from fifa, from the faa, of course, who said he was a true met legend and as you would expect from his beloved Manchester United here behind me, who said he was a hero to millions and the club was in mourning. In fact the club, this evening, played in the Premier League away at Sheffield United and the captain Bruno Fernandez brought out before the match a wreath in memory of sir bobby, both of them before the game were a period of applause, they were joined before the game were a period of applause, they werejoined by thousands in the crowd for a player that really commanded respect during his career but also of course, decades after he retired, beyond Manchester United. He was one of those players that commanded huge admiration and affection across the game, because of what he achieved. Remember, this was a player who achieved that rarest of feats, winning the two ultimate prizes, really, in terms of his club career and for his country can make by lifting in 1966 the world cup with england, and a couple years later the european cups with Manchester United, both of those came at wembley stadium. But what really set him apart perhaps and gave his story residence, in 1958 he was involved in that dreadful incidents in munich, that your disaster that saw eight of his team mates lose their lives. Sir bobby survived that dreadful incident and the memory of his friends really drove him to lift the european cup a full decade later, and that sporting life, that Sporting Narrative is perhaps, without equal. 0f Sporting Narrative is perhaps, without equal. Of course after his career, he went on to become a long standing director at Manchester United, did important charity work as well. As you just mentioned, he is one, sadly, of several members of that world cup winning side who was diagnosed with dementia. There is only one surviving member of that side, jeff hurst. But charlton will always be remembered and love to move for the way he conducted himself, both as a footballer, always remember it of course for those incredible shots, those goals he scored from a distance, his beautiful Passing Ability as well. But also his character, the way he handled himself, that sense of decency and dignity and humility. He was really known throughout the world as a symbol, really, of english Sporting Spirit. And one of those rare athletes who is, as i said, respected notjust at the club he represented in the country, but i think almost universally throughout the World Of Sport as well. Although storm babet is now easing away, well continue to see flooding and disruption over the next day or so. Now, lets just take a look at where the rain has fallen over the past 24 hours. Its been heavy and persistent across parts of england, wales and particularly for northern and eastern scotland, too. If we have a look atjust how much rain has fallen since wednesday with this storm babet, many areas have seen between 100 and 200 millimetres. Now for places, thats almost twice the expected monthly rainfall. Thankfully, though, sunday is looking drier with lighter winds, too. So a window of much quieter weather on the way for the rest of the overnight period through into the early hours of monday. Still a few showers around across the far north of scotland, one or two in the west. Elsewhere, two to nine degrees are overnight lows for most of us. Could be a touch cooler first thing in the countryside. But the low pressure thats been such a troublemaker over recent days is drifting away towards the north. On sunday, the isobars become more widely spaced, showing that its not going to be as windy as it has been. The breeze just coming in from a westerly direction. So that will bring one or two showers for northwest scotland, perhaps a few for wales, the southwest of england as well. But as they drift eastwards, they tend to ease away so much drier thankfully for eastern scotland, right down towards east anglia in the southeast, a largely dry day towards Northern Ireland too, and temperatures ranging between around about ten for stornoway to about 16 down towards the london region. But then we will see the next area of low pressure just moving in later on monday. Now this is storm bernard. Its been named by the portuguese Weather Service and its going to bring the next spell of wet and windy weather on monday. So we start off monday on a dry note and mist and some fog patches. Could be a touch of frost, but it clouds over from the south and during the afternoon this area of rain will spill its way in. To the north of that, most places looking dry around about 10 to 16 degrees. But the wet and the windy weather in the south Willjust Push its way a little bit further north. So into tuesday, you can see where were expecting to see some showers around, turning a little bit breezy again towards the east coast, a bit of uncertainty exactly where this rainfall is going to be by this stage, but could be quite unwelcome for some of us, turning a little bit milder as we see The Rain Coming in from the south after that window of drier weatherfor some of us sunday into monday, things really are looking fairly autumnal and unsettled through much of the week ahead. Bye for now. Live from washington. This is bbc news. The un says its negotiating for a second convoy of aid to be allowed into gaza on sunday. 20 truckloads crossed from egypt earlier, the first since israel imposed a total siege on the strip. Israels military says it is stepping up its airstrikes on gaza to put further pressure on hamas ahead of a possible major ground offensive. In other news, storm babet continues to batter parts of the uk, bringing high winds, severe flooding and risk to life warnings. Im helena humphrey. Good to have you with us. A Glimmer Of Hope today at the temporary opening of the crossing point between egypt and the gaza strip. Hundreds of trucks are waiting to enter on the egyptian side. But 20 trucks were allowed through with vital humanitarian aid. The Rafah Crossing has been closed since hamas carried out its bloody attack in israel two weeks ago and aid agencies say the situation in gaza is now catastrophic, with the territory under siege and constant israeli bombardment. The convoy, which entered gaza was carrying food, water and medicine, which have been running out in gaza. But israel refused to allow in fuel needed to power Hospital Generators and water pumping stations. The un says at least 100 aid trucks are needed every day to cover
