To ukraine now, where at least seven people have been killed in a Russian Missile attack on the eastern town of pokrovsk. Dozens of others were injured in the strike. The head of the Donetsk Region said it damaged a hotel as well as shops and office buildings. Our correspondent in kyiv. James waterhouse told us more about the attack and the town where it happened. Rescue efforts are continuing today after having to be paused overnight because of the risk of shelling, were told. But pokrovsk is one of many Frontline Towns where, after the population was hollowed out in the full scale invasion of last year, people in their thousands have been returning to cities like pokrovsk, despite the very real dangers. Youve got authorities there saying, stay away. Its still not safe. There are reminders of the threat with damaged buildings dotted about. And this is the worst weve certainly seen for a while in the area where you have the Hotel Druzhba and the mafia themed corleone restaurant. Why do i know so much about it . Well, me and countless other journalists, as well as civilians and soldiers, its where you go and stay and eat when you go to places like this, there isnt much in the way of choice. But the people there are very friendly. It is a city that somehow learnt to cope, learnt how to live despite being around about 20 miles from the front line. And the reality is when youre that close to the front line, you are within range of more russian weaponry, such as grad missiles, such as artillery fire. So the risks really do go up. And theres no doubt that russia targeted it because lots of ukrainian soldiers go through there. But this is nevertheless a civilian location. It is a town, it is a small town. And here we are again with the familiar sight of two rescue teams lifting to through the rubble and trying to find who they can. And i think the fact that so many of the injured are made up of police officers, i think that reflects the strikes occurring within a0 minutes of each other. It suggests whats called a double tap, where weve seen Russian Forces do this before, where they hit a specific area, they let rescue teams come in and then they hit it again in a very deliberate act. A year long Undercover Investigation by bbc news arabic has uncovered allegations of widespread sexual abuse and coercion by spiritual healers. In the first investigation of its kind into the issue, more than 60 healers in morocco and sudan were accused of rape, Sexual Assault and coercing women into sex. This film, by hanan razek, contains references of sexual abuse and Sexual Violence that some viewers may find upsetting. This woman was having problems with her husband and went to a spiritual healer for help. Translation he said he would have i sex with me and use the resulting l body fluids to concoct a potion i should feed to my husband. He said this is the treatment. I left immediately and i will never go back. The practice of spiritual healing in sudan is unregulated, which leaves many women like sawsan vulnerable to sexual exploitation. They turn for help to this center, run by a healer, sheikha fatima. She helps women who believe illnesses or emotional problems can be solved by expelling evil spirits. Translation many women told us that part of the treatment involved the healer touching part of their body. Out of 100 women, undoubtedly a quarter of them would have been sexually abused by a healer. In the first investigation of its kind, we spent months verifying stories of abuse. 50 Women In Sudan Accused a0 healers of harassment, assault and manipulating them into sex. One of these women told us about a healer who had assaulted her. Translation | saw. His shadow behind me. Then he groped me. In the end, when he approached me, i swore to god i would scream and alert his children. I took his hands off me and i left. After hearing accounts from two other women, we sent an undercoverjournalist to visit the healer, sheikh ibrahim. Translation |u do prayers and recite 5,000 times over prayer beads to find you a solution. Sheikh ibrahim puts his hand on our undercover journalists thigh. She pushes it away. He then puts his hand on her stomach and tries to touch her genitals. Shocked, she immediately leaves. We contacted Sheik Ibrahim to put our allegations to him and he agreed to be interviewed. I asked him if he had ever tried to have sex with women who had come for treatment. Translation only treatment. I only do treatment. What about our evidence that he had sexually assaulted women, including our own journalist . Translation no, no, that didnt happen. God will hold her accountable for that. Allah will reveal the truth. Then he abruptly ended the interview. We took our evidence to sudans top religious authority. Translation its become a profession for those who have no profession. We dont deny there are sexual anomalies. We undoubtedly support treatment with the koran, but in the current form, its chaos. With no help coming from the authorities for women, she has her own advice for those wanting to see a healer. Translation if i tell them to forget about the healer. And to solve their problems in another way. Well, i spoke to hanan razek, and asked for her assessment on the scale of the abuse. . It was much worse than i had originally expected. When we started looking into the practice, which is widely popular in arab countries, we found first that it is extremely popular especially in sudan and morocco and we started looking into this and we were really astonished how widely, how wide the Mis Practising and misbehaving in the countries is. We spoke to 80 women in both countries who accused over 60 healers of Sexual Assault, harassment, rape and manipulating them into six. We spent over a year because it was very difficult to convince women to speak in the first place. A lot of women were afraid to speak to their own families because of the stigma surrounding this. We are talking about men who are seen but they have religious authorities and many women told us, even if they tell their own families, they wouldnt believe them. When we spoke to them about reporting to the police, some of them told us how would i report to the police if i dont have witnesses . I was in this room with a healer, thinking that he can help me getting out of my depression or with an emotional problem or other health issues. Nobody would believe me. And what was most difficult was that some women do believe that these men would have some power to take revenge of them if they dare to report them to the police. That full investigation is now on iplayer. It is well worth a watch. Eight lot of Additional Information on the website. Head to the iplayer for that full investigation. Hello there. There have certainly been winners and losers with this tuesdays forecast. An absolutely glorious day. Across much of scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England. There were a few sharp showers in the northeast, but look at the western isles, beautiful from earlier on, slightly different story further south across england and wales in particular. There was quite a lot of low cloud and outbreaks of drizzly rain. It was misty as well through the day, and that is going to continue to drift its way steadily eastwards over the next few hours. The showers fading in scotland. We keep some clearer skies through the night. We keep quite a lot of low clouds down to the southwest. But temperatures will hold up perhaps into the mid teens by first thing tomorrow morning. The reason being were starting to tap into some warmer air now as an area of High Pressure is set to build. So this High Pressure will move in from the southwest. Yes, weve got this week weather front, which will always introduce the risk of more cloud and still some murky conditions to Northern Ireland, perhaps across west facing coasts of wales, south west england. Again, misty, maybe a little bit drizzly from time to time. So further north and east, thats where well see the best of the sunshine. But temperatures generally will be a few degrees up on where weve seen them just recently, highs into the low twenties, but some of us could see temperatures into the mid twenties as the mid seventies. Fahrenheit will tap into some further heat from spain as we move into thursday. Thursday looks likely to be the warmest day of the week and the sunniest today quite widely across the country. Its not going to last, but those temperatures, mid twenties, possibly as high as 27 degrees. So thats 80 fahrenheit. But as we move out of thursday into friday, this cold front will start to push in. Its tied into this area of low pressure which is sitting to the far northwest. The winds will strengthen and it will bring outbreaks of rain, some of it heavy as it moves its way across Northern England and scotland. It turns quite showery in nature through central and southern parts of england and wales and ahead of it. If we maintain some Early Morning sunshine, itll still be quite warm here, but noticeably fresher behind. And then as we head into the weekend, unfortunately that cooler, fresher Shower Regime is set to continue with temperatures back into the low twenties as a daytime maximum. Thats it. Take care.
