This weekend marks six months since a huge Earthquake Hit Turkey and syria, killing over 50,000 people and leaving many more homeless. But amongst the tragedy there were stories of hope such as baby afraa, who was born beneath the rubble of her collapsed home. The bbc has caught up with her and challenges her new family is facing six months on. Hanan razek reports. It was seen as a miracle, a moment of hope following februarys devastating earthquake in syria and turkey. Baby afraa was rescued after being born beneath the rubble of a collapsed building. All of her close family, including her mother, were killed. But now, afraa has a new life, adopted by her uncle the man who pulled her from the rubble. Translation i started to dig with my hands in the rubble. L then, i could hear a voice, so carried on and, thank god, afraa came up in my hands. She was still attached to her mother by her Umbilical Cord when i found her. The video of afraas rescue in the syrian Town Ofjindayris went viral around the world. The attention was intense and offers to adopted herflooded in. Her relatives were worried about her safety, even in hospital. With the help from the police, we managed to get extra security to protect her. The doctors at the hospital didnt seem to believe that i was her relative. I felt that he didnt want to give her to me. After a dna test proved the family are related to afraa, they were able to leave with her. Since then, they turned down offers to live abroad in the uk and the united arab emirates. The reason is i was scared they would take afraa away from me. I was also scared they would take my children away from me. That was what i feared the most. As the family feel they cant move abroad, they are searching for a permanent place to live in syria. Khalil� s home was destroyed in the earthquake, so for two months following the disaster, he moved to this camp with afraa, his wife and their seven children. Thanks to help from well wishers, they have been able to rent this house but they say its very expensive and they dont know how much longer they will be able to stay here. I lost everything. It was like going back to square one. I cant even afford sending my kids to school. But there are People Living in worse conditions injindayris. A positive thing for them is this meeting is being attended even by those countries that have up till now adopted a neutral stance on this war and have close ties to russia. What ukrainian officials hope is by the end of the meeting that will be some consensus where all parties will agree and then president zelensky hopes to host World Leaders later this year and at this point it can be discussed further. So this is a step towards arriving at some consensus or solution but i dont think anyone expects there will be a solution coming out of these talks instantly. We hear the word consensus a lot which means agreement which means bringing on the likes of china. How likely is that to happen . I think from the Point Of View of Ukraine Fight China has decided to pass participate in these talks is a factor.
