The us, tampering with a witness and conspiracy against the rights of citizens. Our North America correspondent sean dilley has more. We love trump hes the first president to be charged with a federal crime, but if previous cases are anything to go by, Donald Trumps third indictment is only likely to boost his popularity with republican voters. The charges he faces, though, are serious. The 45 page indictment accuses the former president of knowingly spreading false claims about Election Fraud to trick and persuade states into helping him overturn the Election Results. The attack on our nations capitol on January The 6th 2021 was an unprecedented assault on the seat of american democracy. Its described in the indictment. It was fuelled by lies. Lies by the defendant targeted at obstructing a Bedrock Function of the Us Government, the nations process of collecting, counting and certifying the results of the president ial election. Donald trump responded by posting a Campaign Statement his social Media Network truth social, likening his prosecution to lawless persecution in nazi germany. Shortly after charges were announced, he sent a Campaign E Mailvowing to continue his campaign for the white house. But thursdays hearing here in washington, dc, is all about the crimes mr trump is accused of committing in the two months following the 2020 election. Hes already been charged in two other unrelated cases. He is due to face trial in new york next march over crimes he is alleged to have committed in relation to payments to a former adult film star. In may, he is set to stand trial in florida over claims he unlawfully held on to military and other classified documents. For now, its all a question of time. In other cases, mr trump has tried to delay until after next years elections, but prosecutors in this case say they want the trial to go ahead as soon as possible. Sean dilley, bbc news, in washington. Seanjoins us now from washington, dc. You said in the piece it is all about time. What sort of timings are we talking about . It about time. If you believe i jack smith, the special prosecutor, jack smith, the special prosecutor, so called because he is an independent appointee from the Us Government to prosecute this case, he said he wants to have a speedy trial. All well and good. They right defendants have in the United States meaning the trial would have to be within 70 days of what is known as the arraignment, the first appearance in court. That would take us to october. It is very unlikely to happen. Jack smith, involved in the other case involving classified documents, said similar things in terms of timing on a case as well. They want to get it done as soon as possible. Thejudge took they want to get it done as soon as possible. The judge took on board the argument from donald trump that they needed time to prepare the case. That will be the case here as well. The timing is a little bit to be confirmed. Ultimately they will both be very aware of the deadline of november next year. One party trying to push it back beyond that and the other party very much trying to bring it forward. An mp who was suspended for breaking covid Lockdown Rules has lost her seat after a vote by constituents. A by election will now take place after nearly 12,000 people signed a petition to remove Margaret Ferrier from office. 0ur scotland Political Correspondent andrew kerr reports. Leaflets have been disappearing through doors here for weeks already and people have been meeting politicians. But, this morning, the campaigns will get properly under way. For 81,000 constituents, a rare chance to deliver their verdict on politics locally and scotland wide. She should have been away a long time ago. Shes an absolute disgrace to rutherglen. I think it was probably wise that there is a by election and then thats just. The person who people want in is in, do you know what i mean . Ill be honest, i dont really think its going to change much. 0k. Theylljust probably put somebody in, whos the same as the same. In a Statement Last night, Margaret Ferrier said she decided some time ago she wouldnt stand in the by election, adding that this had been a difficult and taxing process, but it had been the privilege of her life to serve as the areas mp. As the snp candidate, she beat her labour rival by more than 5,000 votes. Ged killen, labourand co operative party, 19,000. A sweet victory, as she had been defeated by him two and a half years previously. But shortly after she retook the seat, the pandemic hit. It was Margaret Ferrier s decisions during this time which led to the current situation. Id like to start by paying tribute to all nhs key workers. While lockdown restrictions were in place in september 2020, she was awaiting a Covid Test Result while in london. The test came back positive, but she took the train home to glasgow to avoid self isolating in a hotel in london. This journey broke the covid laws in place at the time. Its Standards Committee recommended that Margaret Ferrier be suspended. She appealed, but the decision held. Mps voted to suspend herfor 30 days. That length of time means a Recall Petition automatically happens. And thats what our constituents have been able to take part in since. Andrew kerr, bbc news. The first Asylum Seekers are now unlikely to move to an Accommodation Barge in dorset till next week. The home office says the delay is because Working Practices for port staff havent been signed off yet. It comes as the Fire Brigades Union says it intends to write to the government after its members raised serious concerns. Werejoined now by our senior Political Correspondent, nick eardley. Tue government is adamant what will happen and when . Tte government is adamant it what will happen and when . Tte government is adamant it is what will happen and when . Tte government is adamant it is going ahead with this, as we were chatting about on breakfast yesterday. They were still some final checks being done this week. It is not going to be until at least next week before the first single men are sent on to that barge for their new accommodation. There were more checks being done yesterday and, as part of that, the Health And Safety Executive were told by home office sources, raising concerns about Working Practices for people working at the port itself. That has led to this further delay. My government sources are insisting there are no fire safety issues at this stage. As you were just saying a second ago, the Fire Brigades Union feels very different. They are going to write to the home office and say some of their members are worried about the practices on board this vessel, they are worried about the number of people who will be on the barge and they are calling for the government to have a bit of a rethink. Where does this leave the plan . As i say, the government is adamant it will go ahead. The Home Secretary is a big fan of this proposal. The government is absolutely certain it needs to look at alternative accommodation like barges to bring down the amount of money being spent on hotels for migrants and Asylum Seekers. Not for the first time we are sitting here of the morning looking at some of theissues of the morning looking at some of the issues the government is facing, some of the challenges in getting this off the ground. Pop star lizzo is being sued by three of her former dancers, over claims including Sexual Harassment and a hostile work environment. The singer, who is known for celebrating her body and self love, is also accused of weight shaming while on tour. Lizzo has been approached for comment. The 57 year old said his father stabbed him in the leg and stomach during a Boxing Day Altercation at his family home in kent. He then spent three days in Hospital Cold Calling to offer Financial Services or products could be banned under new government plans outlined today. The home office says it wants to clamp down on scams, which cost the economy £750 million in the last year. Our Correspondent Robin Brant has more. The Scamming Industry is a huge one. Most of it originates online, but the government is moving to further protect those targeted by cold calls. Theyre often the most vulnerable. Scams have a massive impact across the board. There are financial impacts, but there are also massive emotional impacts on victims. And the problem that youve got is once youve been put on whats often referred to as a suckers list, which is a really awful phrase, but once your information is out there, you can be really targeted by scammers. Bands are already in place that outlaw cold calling on pensions and claim management services. Now the home office wants to go further and look at outlawing calls that push people into buying fake or fraudulent investments. It says sham cryptocurrencies, mortgages and insurance are top of the list. Tougher measures to tackle illegal advertising online are also being considered, although tech firms will have a crucial role there in any enforcement aimed at protecting vulnerable adults and children. Then able to fly to the Central Coast where it ramps up again. They will get a days rest, a much deserved rest after that fantastic performance against china. There was so much talk in the build up to this about what serena league would do with the side and how it would cope with the absence of keira walsh. She changed the shape of the england team and it suited all the players very well. It brought the best out of them, particularly laurenjames. It is all too easy to get fake reviews online. Emma is looking at this in more detail for us this morning. Where we can see what other customers have written it can influence our Decision Making when we are thinking of buying a particular product or service. If you are looking for a certain business, you can google it and results will come up. It is easy for fake reviews to appear online. Despite the fact they may be misleading average uk household spends £900 each year after being influenced by Online Reviews. They do work. What might you look out for . If you are scrolling through Customer Reviews perhaps you will spot things that may seem. Lots of praise and enthusiasm, giving services 5 star reviews but without a lot of details that can be a Tell Tale Sign that perhaps this is not a genuine customer or we might see a lot of typos and bad grammar. We have found examples of fake reviews being used by medicalfirms. If anything being done about it . I have been finding out. Having a five star rating from reviewers on google can help a Business Stand Out In Search Results and push it up the rankings. But fake reviews can be bought online, and theres evidence of them being used not only on google but on platforms like amazon, trustpilot and the apple store. Do you ever look at the reviews people have posted online . Yeah. Does it influence you . Yeah. Why is that . Because if its bad reviews, youre not going to want to go somewhere. And if theres loads of good reviews, then you want to go. You want to go. Do you trust them . Yeah. Even though you have no idea whos written them. Do you ever think they might be not real orfake . Sometimes you question it if its certain online companies, because then youd think, oh, well, its interesting how every single reviews or positive. We found examples of fake reviews being used by all sorts of companies, but even by some medical businesses. What if youre looking for, say, a chiropractor in ipswich . The second business to appear in Google Search results is the ipswich spine clinic, run by dr amit patel an almost perfect a. 9 star rating from customers on google reviews. Whether you suffer from conditions due to some trauma or prolonged activities, we may be able to help you with that. How was that impressive rating really achieved . Five star reviewer Santosh Kumar says dr amit was brilliant. He assessed my injury and came up with a treatment plan. I felt i was in safe hands and highly recommend this place. But this reviewer has also reviewed a taxi service in canada, a dentist in the us, Conveyancing Services In Australia and a bar in austria which looks a bit suspicious. And to prove these reviews cannot be real, we cross referenced in detail a number of customers whove not only reviewed the ipswich spine clinic, but have also reviewed exactly the same businesses all over the world. Way too much of a coincidence. We also looked into this dental business in manchester called smiles better, which advertises its five star rating on its website with a link to its google reviews. Customer rose bellamy says im so happy with my new smile, superfast services and everyone was so helpful. And the business writes back, were so happy that youre delighted with the treatment provided. Keep on smiling. And when we did, our detailed cross referencing our Investigation Shows this review and a number of others for this business are fake. I mean, its bad enough if you buy a pair of dodgy bluetooth headphones off a fake review. If you try and get a medical treatment done, and it turns out that the review that you chose the establishment on was fake, that could have really serious repercussions. The government really needs to legislate against fake reviews. Selling them, buying them, and hosting them on your platforms should be illegal. They should be facing a fine. There needs to be some deterrent from just buying a load of fake reviews because, for now, its easy to do. We also found negative Online Reviews from fake customers posted for one of the ipswich spine clinics local competitors. When we asked the clinic about this, dr amit patel told us that he had outsourced their marketing to a company in india and hadnt himself seen any of the reviews being posted online. Since we contacted him, he says hes now asked for the reviews to be removed. Im calling from the bbc. We also put our findings to smiles better in manchester because this doesnt look very trustworthy for customers, does it . Weve asked this Dentistry Business several times about the fake five star reviews online, but theyve declined to give us any response or explanation. Google says its policies clearly state that reviews must be based on real experiences and that it does monitor them for fraudulent content. But, as our Investigation Shows, many go unnoticed. Here is policing all of this . The department for business and trade told us, were strengthening the law against fake reviews to protect customers. We will publish a consultation later this year, including giving the Competition And Markets Authority the power to fine these rogue traders. If you are doing Online Shopping, remember everything is not as it seems. Good advice. Really interesting. Lots of us have been affected. We would love to hear from you. If you have been taken in by a fake review, we would like to get a message from you. You can tell us about your experiences on whatsapp. Scan the qr code. You can e mail or get in touch on twitter as well. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Hello, good morning from bbc london. Im thomas magill. A lack of Rental Properties is being blamed as one of the factors making it more difficult for tenants to find somehere to live here in london. 0ne Estate Agent says theres almost 50 fewer homes available compared with four years ago and thats driving up prices. We will still be left with one or two showers potentially and temperatures will follow a 214. It will still stay breezy. Tomorrow things will settle down and winds will fall lighter. A view showers around with sunny spells around. Highs of around 21 celsius. It will head much cooler as we head into the weekend. Just a reminder it is august. Although the forecast felt like winter. Thats it from me more on the bbc news app and on bbc radio london. Please remember to select london for the latest here across the capital. Ill be back in half an hour, but in the meantime lets cross back to sally and jon. Good morning, everybody. Hello. This is breakfast with jon kay and sally nugent. As weve been hearing this morning, donald trump is facing fresh criminal charges over his alleged efforts to overturn his 2020 election defeat. Its the most serious legal threat yet to the former president as he campaigns to return to the white house. We can talk more about this in more detail now with political reporterJulia Manchester. Shejoins us from she joins us from washington. Good morning to you. How much more serious are these charges that the other things he has faced over the last few weeks . Other things he has faced over the last few weeks . ,. ,. ,. , last few weeks . Yes, good morning. I would say these last few weeks . Yes, good morning. I would say these charges last few weeks . Yes, good morning. I would say these charges are would say these charges are absolutely serious and could bring the possibility of prison time if found guilty. These are federal charges. We know that a few weeks ago he was also indicted on a range of federal charges in the case about his handling of federal documents after moving out of the white house, so i would think that these are all serious. We also know that an indictment is potentially imminent indictment is potentially imminent in the case surrounding his efforts to overturn the president ial Election Results in georgia. So i would say that all of these charges are piling up, but because of the federal charge, because of those Obstruction Charges here, it is serious for the former president. T serious for the former president. I think it is the third time in four months that donald trump has been indicted. How is it going to work . Because he is facing all these different charges in different parts of the country and Different Levels of the country and Different Levels of government. How did they get through them all . Of government. How did they get through them all . Your guess is as aood as through them all . Your guess is as good as mine through them all . Your guess is as good as mine. It through them all . Your guess is as good as mine. It is through them all . Your guess is as good as mine. It is the through them all . Your guess is as good as mine. It is the first through them all . Your guess is as good as mine. It is the first time i good as mine. It is the first time in us history that we have seen a former president or any president go through this sort of thing. He is facing charges in new york at the state level, in georgia he could be facing charges at the state level. There are two indictments against him at the federal level, and two other cases, and this is all happening a few months out from the beginning of the republican president ial primary, so it is happening in tandem with this president ial primary. We dont exactly know how those two things will coincide particularly in the federal cases, donald trump is going to have to show up in the courtroom and sit through these cases, so you have to wonder if that is going to get involved in the way of campaigning. 0n get involved in the way of campaigning. On top of that, you also have the fact that he is leading the republican primaries, so there is the question of, 0k, leading the republican primaries, so there is the question of, ok, if he becomes the republican candidate, the nominee, how does that work when he is facing all of these charges, if he is elected president again, how does that work . It is really unprecedented in us history, what we are going through. find unprecedented in us history, what we are going through are going through. And am i right in thinkin are going through. He could still run. President again . He still could be. He could still run. However, president again . He still could be. He could still run. However, there| he could still run. However, there are some questions surrounding whether that would actually happen, whether that would actually happen, whether a nearly 80 year old president would be put injailfor this, if that would essentially happen in our criminaljustice happen in our Criminal Justice system, happen in our criminaljustice system, what that would look like. So there are those logistical questions as well, but it is completely unprecedented, and i think we are learning more and more about what this would look like as we are going forward. We are going forward. Completely unprecedented we are going forward. Completely unprecedented is we are going forward. Completely unprecedented is a we are going forward. Completely unprecedented is a phrase we are going forward. Completely unprecedented is a phrase we we are going forward. Completely. Unprecedented is a phrase we have heard a lot relating to donald trump over the years. Thank you for joining us, Julia Manchester in washington. If you want to hear more on this story, theres a special episode of americast available to listen to now on bbc sounds. It isa it is a good listen. Sarah smith, our washington editor, Marianna Spring on there as well, justin webb from the today programme, all together giving their insights and experience on washington politics. We turn our attention now to uk politics. Campaigning in scotlands constituency of rutherglen and Hamilton West has already begun following a successful petition to remove the current mp Margaret Ferrier from office after she broke Lockdown Rules. We can talk now to scottish labours msp, paul 0kane. Good morning to you. Lets just remind everybody at home what Margaret Ferrier actually did. She travelled from london, spoke in the commons while awaiting a covid test, got a train home after testing positive, was arrested and charged and pleaded guilty to culpable and reckless conduct. So we are now talking about what happens next. Is a key indicator of what happens next in this by election how well labours messages actually cutting through in scotland at the moment . T through in scotland at the moment . I think this by election is a huge opportunity for the people of rutherglen and Hamilton West to choose change, to choose a fresh start with our candidate, michael shanks, because the reality is that the former snp mp will refuse to resign, and we have had the government at Westminster Presiding over this huge crisis, and they are unwilling to take the necessary action, so i think they are ready to go out and vote for change. T5 action, so i think they are ready to go out and vote for change. Is there enou h of go out and vote for change. Is there enough of a go out and vote for change. Is there enough of a message go out and vote for change. Is there enough of a message to go out and vote for change. Is there enough of a message to convert enough of a message to convert labour to voter . We have been speaking to people in rutherglen and Hamilton West for many months now. They are concerned about the cost of living, about their mortgages going up, about their mortgages going up, about their bills going up, and really saying not enough at action from government to tackle that. There is also concern by the snp who are mired in scandal, and they want that fresh start. They want to see a party taking action on the economy, on the cost of living crisis, and making sure that we have a plan for the future so that we can prosper, and that is what we will be offering with our campaign in hamilton rutherglen and Hamilton West. And what about the cap, the two child cap on benefits, what are people saying about that . Scottish labour people saying about that . Scottish labour have people saying about that . Scottish labour have been people saying about that . Scottish labour have been very people saying about that . Scottish labour have been very clear people saying about that . Scottish labour have been very clear that i labour have been very clear that Thatis Labour have been very clear that that is a policy which is offensive. It is a heinous policy brought in by the tories, but the reality is there are things that we want to do absolutely, but the tories have crashed the economy, and we dont know what state of public finances we will hear it as a government, and what we have been speaking to people about in rutherglen and Hamilton West, it cant be a Policyjust Tinkering at the edges, it has to be something that will work for everyone and will lift people out of poverty. The last Labour Government lifted a million children out of poverty, and we will work to do that again by ensuring that we have for example a National Minimum wage that is a minimum wage, that we will grow the economy and have good, secure jobs and will get people back into work. Those are the sorts of measures we will be taking to get people back out of poverty. Thud measures we will be taking to get people back out of poverty. And when ou sa people back out of poverty. And when you say that people back out of poverty. And when you say that is people back out of poverty. And when you say that is a people back out of poverty. And when you say that is a heinous people back out of poverty. And when you say that is a heinous policy, you say that is a heinous policy, what will people at home think about that . If you are talking about policies that labour would bring in, and you are saying you dont know what the public finances will be like were labour to win any election, how can they then believe any other policies that you talk about, any other promises you might make . ,. ,. , make . Because when labour are in government. Make . Because when labour are in government. We make . Because when labour are in government, we have make . Because when labour are in government, we have a make . Because when labour are in government, we have a track make . Because when labour are in| government, we have a track record of tackling poverty. We lifted a million pensioners out of poverty under the last Labour Government. But the reality is we have to be fiscally responsible, because we dont want to end up in a scenario where pledges lead us to where we ended up with the trust government in the mini budget. So we have to make sure that we have fiscal responsibility but we take action on the whole of the economy to make sure that we lift people out of economy, and review all of universal credit and all of the system to make sure it works for everyone across the country. Tt sure it works for everyone across the country sure it works for everyone across the country. If labour were to lose this byelection, the country. If labour were to lose this byelection, does the country. If labour were to lose this byelection, does it the country. If labour were to lose this byelection, does it show the country. If labour were to lose this byelection, does it show that this by election, does it show that the snp are simply too powerful to defeat in scotland . Irate the snp are simply too powerful to defeat in scotland . Defeat in scotland . We dont even have a date defeat in scotland . We dont even have a date yet defeat in scotland . We dont even have a date yet for defeat in scotland . We dont even have a date yet for the defeat in scotland . We dont even l have a date yet for the byelection, have a date yet for the by election, but we hope that will be as soon as possible and it is incumbent on the snp now to call that date for the earliest opportunity which would be the first week of october. We are looking for a positive message, a message of change, and we dont take anything for granted and we are certainly not in any way complacent, but i think this is a big opportunity for change in that community, and across scotland. Pauli community, and across scotland. Paul okane, community, and across scotland. Paul okane. Thank community, and across scotland. Paul okane, thank you community, and across scotland. Paul 0kane, thank you very much indeed for talking to us this morning. Chetan is here with the sport, and that was pretty decisive for the lioness is against china, wasnt it . We talked a lot about when the goals are going to come, even going into this tournament. Laurenjames, how good is she . We were on the tv, the euros, that incredible success because she was injured, she says that has made her more hungry and that has made her more hungry and that we have that outstanding performance in adelaide yesterday, england beating china by six goals to one, and that ensures they are into the last 16, they will play nigeria for a place in the quarterfinals. That matches on Monday Morning at 8 30am, you will be able to watch it live on bbc one after that really impressive 6 1 win over china which Katie Gornall was watching. And the beat goes on. After a wash outjuly augusts forecast doesnt look much better, with Weather Warnings for rain and wind in place across england and wales today. I think she said next, didnt she, so a little bit of optimism in there, but not a lot. Rain and wind across england and wales all today. The wet conditions are causing a big problem forfarmers who are struggling to harvest quickly and efficiently. Our environment Correspondentjonah Fisher is at the North Devon Show for us this morning. Morning jonah. And it is not raining not yet at least. Welcome and it is not raining not yet at least. Welcome to and it is not raining not yet at least. Welcome to the and it is not raining not yet at least. Welcome to the north i and it is not raining not yet at i least. Welcome to the North Devon Show. The animals are starting to arrive for the show. People are too, the show opens at eight oclock this morning. The forecast, it is looking pretty good now, but we are expecting rain this morning, possibly it will clear up and be just windy this afternoon, but as we know, all that experience for the last month or so, rain has been something of a constant feature of july, with more than 70 more rain across the uk on average than we would normally expect. Rain for farmers, particularly at a time when not to many farmers are thinking about harvesting, that is not good news. Take a look at my report. Growing crops without water is impossible. But too much rain creates problems, too. Eleanor gilbert is from a farming family in berkshire and is learning to work in a changing climate this morning because the sun this morning because the sun is finally shining were off to harvest some oilseed rape. After a july dominated by rain, shes making the most of a break in the weather to harvest crops that ideally should no longer be in the ground. Eleanor is working with her youngersister, lucy, to bring in the rapeseed. Eleanor is working with her youngersister, lucy, to bring in the rapeseed. Such is the pressure to finish the job before the rain starts again that theyve been working late into the night. But the crop is still too moist, and warm air has to be pumped through it on the floor of this store to try and make it dry enough to be sold. If we send it off higher than a 15 moisture, content well get rejections and also fines. Best way to tell, farmers like to bite. You can tell theres too much moisture. In north herefordshire its time to pick the blackcurrants for a well known cordial. It rained a lot here injuly, too, but thats not the biggest problem. Blackcurrants are a sensitive bunch, and last winter there just werent enough cold days. It means that weve got this very uneven bud break, weve got uneven flowering, and weve got a very uneven harvest with some. There will be some berries here that will be on the ground because they were ripe too early, and there would be some that potentially are not quite right. Theyll get a crop this year, but work is continuing to develop tougher Blackcurrant Varieties better suited to our changing climate. Global warming is already making the uks weather hotter and wetter. What farmers can successfully grow in british soil is changing too. So, to find out a bit more about what the Rainy Weather means for farmers, imjoined by what the Rainy Weather means for farmers, im joined by local livestock farmers. Today i can tell you straight off as a wet one, especially across Northern Ireland, england and wales, and it is also windy, especially so in southern areas. Low pressure is now crossing us, and as it moves from the west towards the east it is going to drag the rain with it, but you can see from the isobars it is windy, and the strongest winds eventually easing in the south west through the afternoon, but they will only transfer to the south east. We have had all this rain for the course of the night, we have also got some showery rain across scotland, and further showers coming in across the South West Of England and wales. So this band of rain will continue to move north. Wrapped around it we have more Showery Rain Coming into the south west and wales, but the wind will be a feature, particularly in southern areas. We can easily have gusts around 60 mph, the Isles Of Scilly and West Cornwall, and also to the Channel Islands. Those could well cause some disruption for example, with Ferry Crossings Worth checking before you set out. Through the rest of the afternoon, as our low pressure drift eastwards, some heavy, thundery showers pushing east with it, we also have more rain coming in across the North East Of England, accompanied by brisk winds, so here it will feel cool but on either side of those rain bands, we have sunshine and showers. Temperatures ranging from 15 in the north to 22 in the south. Through this evening, the Showery Rain In The South East clears, The Rain Across North East England curves around into other parts of Eastern England, the wind changes direction to have more of a northerly component and here there will be more clout in the north with some showers and it will be a relatively mild night, looking at 12 to about 14 or 15 degrees. Morning alison. Good morning. I good morning. Lam not actually good morning. I am not actually in the water, i am over here. Some of the water, i am over here. Some of the early swimmers are up and about, which is great to see. This is one of many Leisure Centres across the country that is really struggling due to those high energy costs at the moment, but they are coming up with innovative ways to try to battle that. Dropping the temperature by the pool for a degree, and reducing their Opening Hours. They are doing everything they can to keep it open, and we will hear more about that in the moment, but first we went to another Swimming Pool which is under the threat of closure, just about 30 miles away, and we asked swimmers how they would feel if they lost their Swimming Pool. Their happy faces say at all. I like doing swimming. It helps with my breathing and it is good for your muscles. , , muscles. Some of these youngsters have been part muscles. And among those who felt the support of that family are catherine and her mum, who were both injured in the Manchester Arena bombing. When i got out of hospital and even within the hospital, they came and visited me so and gave me support and said that theyd be here for me whenever i needed and whenever id come back. And when i came back, they said that i could take as much time as i needed. And yeah, it was just really helpful mentally and physically. What did that support mean to you from the club . It built my confidence. Just going back at that slower pace just really helped and i think it helped my family as well because it meant i could get back doing something i love. Because myself and catherines dad were also injured, so we were struggling as well. And any extra help we had with supporting catherine was, you know, we were just so grateful for. Ashtons pool is one of three Leisure Centres on tameside, which is set to close. Increasing fuel bills and rising costs among the issues being blamed. You cant basically double the cost of heating your pools and expect i people to pay double i to come through the door. I we realised that there wouldnt be i enough money to continue everything we have as an organisation. The threat to this Swimming Pool is being reflected across the country. Like here in birtley, where the community is planning to take over their pool after Gateshead Council said it could no longer afford to run it. Swim england says almost 400 Swimming Pools have been lost since 2010 and a greater number of those are in deprived areas compared to the more affluent. The government says local authorities are responsible for local pools and its provided £60 million to support Operating Costs and help them improve energy efficiency. Club chairman steve was the first of three generations of his family to be part of the ashton under lyne Swimming Club. But he believes ashtons pool is more than just a place where you learn to swim. This ward is always in one of the top ten of the most deprived areas in the country, and theyve taken it away. So how can people travel . As i said, its notjust the club. You come here during the day and theres pensioners who come for lessons, you know, in the classes and they dance and they sit and have a drink. Its like a community for them. Its just heartbreaking to think why the council just cantjust keep it on. The Swimming Club has been offered session times at another pool, but thats a 20 minute drive away. What would you say to the people whove decided that they might want to shut this pool . Its not fair, because some people might not be able to do it at the new place. Id ask them not to close it i because theres loads of children that love coming here and you cant just take that away from them. I some really strong messages from those children that we spoke to in ashton. Imjoined now those children that we spoke to in ashton. Im joined now by the manager of the pool here, michael. Michael, just tell me. We have heard about a couple of the measures you are taking. What else can you do to make sure your pool survives . There are a number make sure your pool survives . There are a number of make sure your pool survives . There are a number of measures make sure your pool survives . There are a number of measures we make sure your pool survives . The headline things that our general public would recognise, we have reduced the temperatures and we have reduced the temperatures and we have had to take a quite a drastic measure and reduce the Opening Hours as well. We then have a number of measures that people might recognise at home, such as led lighting, Motion Centres in the multiple use areas, and behind the scenes, we have done quite a lot of work in investing in equipment that improves the efficiency of our plant. The key point to make here is we are not just trying to cut our way out of this problem, we have gone out and looked at our programming and how we can get our local Community Back engaged after the pandemic, and we are looking compared to last year, weve improved our programme and rousing another £100,000 here, but we still need some additional support. 50 we still need some additional su. Its wednesday 2nd of august. Former us President Donald Trump has been criminally charged with plotting to overturn his 2020 election defeat. Hes accused of four counts, including Conspiracy To Defraud the us, tampering with a witness and conspiracy against the rights of citizens. Our North America correspondent sean dilley has more. We love trump hes the first president to be charged with a federal crime, but if previous cases are anything to go by, Donald Trumps third indictment is only likely to boost his popularity with republican voters. The charges he faces, though, are serious. The its page indictment accuses the former president of knowingly spreading false claims about Election Fraud to trick and persuade states into helping him overturn the Election Results. Donald trump responded by posting a Campaign Statement his social on his social Media Network truth social, likening his prosecution to lawless persecution in nazi germany. Our North America correspondent, nomia iqbal sent us this report from outside the courthouse in washington dc. The former president , donald trump is due to appear in court behind me on thursday. He has the option of appearing virtually or in person, but is likely to appear in person because he has done for his previous two indictments. Inside court, he will face what is arguably the most serious indictment so far, and probably the most serious indictment that a Department Ofjustice has ever brought against a former president and potentially a future president. He is being accused in his its page indictment of trying to subvert the Election Results of 2020, of trying to overturn democracy. One of the charges includes Conspiracy To Defraud the United States. Now, mr trump has dismissed this indictment, as he has done with the previous two, saying that this is a political witch hunt, this is the Department Ofjustice being weaponized by President Biden in order to stop him from running for the white house, unsubstantiated claims that hes made. But the republican party, by and large, have backed him. They did so with his previous two indictments. And weve also seen that his Approval Ratings tend to go up with republican voters. It is probably going to be the same with this indictment. However, how he does with the rest of the american electorate remains to be seen. Right now, however, he still remains the clear front runner for the republican partys president ial nomination. It is nearly five past seven. Sally has a round up of the rest of the mornings news now. An mp who was suspended for breaking covid Lockdown Rules has lost her seat after a vote by constituents. A by election will now take place after nearly 12,000 people signed a petition to remove Margaret Ferrier from office. 0ur scotland Political Correspondent andrew kerr reports. We can speak now to our scotland correspondent chris clements. It is hugely significant. It was about three years ago by sitting mp Margaret Ferrier, who took the train journey from london to her constituency in rutherglen west. It led to a criminal conviction, being kicked out of the snp and a suspension of 30 days from the House Of Commons. The final punishment is what led to the Recall Petition in rutherglen. There had to be 10 of constituent signing the Recall Petition, around 8000. In the end around 12,000 people signed it, the results yesterday evening. Margaret ferrier has said she does not intend to stand here again as an independent. The tories and lib dems have said they will be fielding candidates here. The alba party is calling for a Pro Independence unity candidate. Really this is seen as a straight fight between the snp and labour. The seat has switched hands between the snp and labour in each of the last three general elections. It is important for the snp. Much as the by elections in england were seen as a tester which is the app is my government and it will be seen as a test for the snp under humza yousaf. For labour, if it does have designs on puncturing the dominance of the snp currently has over the Political Landscape in scotland, if it has designs on winning their next general election, it will be important as a seat to win. We were chatting on breakfast yesterday about how there were still some final checks to be done. The government was still hoping it might be able to make the barge operational today. What happened yesterday was those checks were done, some final checks were done. The Health And Safety Executive came back and said we want some final checks to be done on the Staff Arrangements for the port itself. Chatting to people in government, they are adamant there are no fire safety issues. That is the one thatis safety issues. That is the one that is one of the things that have been flagged by opponents of the barge. Government insiders say it is not the case. The Fire Brigades Union says its members are really worried about the conditions on the barge. They want to write to the home office to express some of the concerns about the conditions on the barge. You can see itjust now. It has all been done up. One of the concerns in particular the fpu has is that the capacity on board has been almost doubled. It had been expected ever be one person in every room. The government has promised there will be two people in the room, effectively doubling the capacity. It will not happen until next week at the earliest. Not for the first time we are here talking about how one of the governments big ideas to try and get people of hotels, bring the bill down for accommodation for migrants and Asylum Seekers. Not for the first time we are chatting about those hands been plans been very hard to get off the ground in the first place. Crews are still working to tackle a huge wildfire near the us canada border. Hundreds of homes have been evacuated, and many more have told to be ready to leave at any moment. Our North America correspondent, nada tawfik, sent us the latest. The Eagle Bluff Wildfire is still raging extremely close to the edge of the town of osoyoos. Now, things have eased considerably since saturday when that initial scare, when the blaze came through from the United States and spread incredibly quickly. But, nevertheless, authorities are still classifying this fire as out of control. Theyve had water bomber planes, helicopters in the sky, going back and forth all day to the lake of osoyoos to try to bring this under control. Theyve also had over 50 firefighters fighting the blazes, but still, this is posing a threat here. They say officials that it is still something that is evolving a situation that is evolving. Theyre keeping a very close eye on the Wind Direction here on the dry, hot temperatures, seeing how that could affect the course of this fire. Now, canada has had a record year of wildfires with more than 30 million acres of land burnt so far. This, of course, is extremely concerning here because of its proximity to the town. There are dozens of Properties Still under Evacuation Orders and hundreds of others have been told to be ready to evacuate immediately if they need to. Residents described on saturday how they were told with very little notice that they didnt have time to pack, that they had to get out of town. And so that is really the concern here about what this fire will do in the coming days. It is still very much early, a portion of this, its only been a few days in. But for people here, they say its already felt like weeks. There are more than 50,000 deaf children living in the uk, and 90 of those are born to Hearing Parents with little or no experience of deafness. One family are now calling for better access to free British Sign Language classes, after struggling to communicate with their two deaf children. Our reporter katie martin has been to meet them. Its the battle that people often dont have the time or the resources to fight. Im yasmin. Im here at home with my family. Ive got my husband, sam, and my two children, obi and iris. Me and sam, were both hearing, and the two children are both deaf. Obi was born profoundly deaf, so he was quite a straightforward candidate for cochlear implants, whereas iris was born moderate, severely deaf. She was the next measurable point, down from being accepted in the criteria. Her hearing has deteriorated, which has got her over that line, so she can get some access to sound, hopefully, with cochlear implants. Helicopter. Helicopter it was so hard. We didnt we didnt know anything about deaf people. We didnt know anything about the deaf community. There are no deaf schools or deaf units in dorset. Theres not as many deaf children in this area. And that meant there was no ready made bsl classes down the road. And the waiting list for the one that was in our local college was, you know, we were going to have to wait nine months to get on the course and we needed something then and there. The cost of learning bsl is a barrier for many families with a deaf child and they often look to charities to cover the cost. Theres no funding, you know, you dontjust get, heres some funding for you to learn a language that your child needs. You have to push and fight and source that funding from every avenue possible. It was only really when we had our second child, iris, that was deaf that things started to fall into place. What is that one . Weve now got some funding from the Dorset Deaf Children Society to have more sign language tuition for the family as well, especially now obi and iris are getting older. They need full on sentences. They dontjust need the odd word that you can pick up on youtube videos. They need language. They need. Like a Hearing Child would have english, they need bsl input. Yasmine applied for a grant from the birkdale trust, but the funding only covers one parent for one child to learn level 1 bsl, its not ongoing. Level1 is £500 ish, give or take. It increases by about £100, £150 each level. And from what ive looked at, i think were going to have to go to at least level 3 to be able to communicate effectively. So its important for obi that he does have access to spoken language. Its even more important for iris, given that its her only language. At nighttime they dont wear their ears. When theyre poorly, they dont wear their ears, when theyre tired, they dont wear their ears. So, you know, you need to be able to have that communication. And iris is getting to an age where she wants to walk around. But you cant, you know, say, iris, this way she cant hear you. Despite the challenges they face every day, yasmine and sam are unwavering in their commitment to giving obi and iris as many Communication Skills as they can to equip them for the hearing world. Well, hes finally finished his mammoth journey and has come back with more than he bargained for. As well as raising half a Million Pounds for the armed forces hes returned home with a fiancee, a 15 month old son and a pet dog called jet. Our reporter lucy vladev went to meet him. Come rain or shine, one man has been walking and walking and walking. How are we . So we are in our first bothy on the north coast. Not a bad spot at all. Its really cold, we keep having these snow showers come in. Ready for it . Six years and thousands of miles later, chris lewis is now back at rhossili beach, where the adventure all started. The point that were just walking up to now was the very point that i stood the day that i decided to walk the uk coastline. So yeah, its a very meaningful place to me. It was the day that my whole life started to change. Setting off in 2017, he headed north, covered Northern Ireland and in may 2018 adopted his dog jet, while on the west coast of scotland during the first coronavirus lockdown in 2020, he was given the keys to the only house at this place on the shetland islands, and after meeting his girlfriend kate on the 25th Of August that year, they continued on together, spending the second lockdown in a tent in the woods. Their son, magnus, was born on the 1st of may last year, and on the 5th ofjuly this year they finally crossed the Severn Bridge back into wales. Whats the most surprising moment been that someone would fall in love whats the most surprising moment been . That someone would fall in love with me. It hasnt really sunk in yet, if that makes sense. Six years is a long time, and i think more than anything its become a lifestyle rather than just an adventure, if that makes sense. I think for me probably the most surprising moment was feeling so confident about giving up everything that i spent ten years working for in my life tojoining this walk on such an impulse. You know, id only met chris twice when ijust gave up everything tojoin him. So that was the first one, i think. And then the second one was obviously finding out that i was going to become a mum. And i suppose the question here is what have you learned from this trip . But perhaps the better question is whats the experience that you would like everybody to be able to feel . Yeah, i mean, listen, its like anything, not just this adventure, anything in life. Youre going to have your highs and lows. The problem that i had before was i wasnt dealing with those properly, but now i see an obstacle very differently to what i see it now, whether it be snapping my ankle, pulling out my teeth or anything like this, which i had to do. For me, it was a way of learning about myself, how i reacted in those situations. So everything is a learning curve if you let it be, you know, just dont let it get you down and learn from it and move forward. Thats the key. And what now . Have a bath. And so after six years away, it may be the same view, but in a much happier setting. The dog is exhausted that was lucy vladev reporting there. Well be joined by chris, his fiancee kate and their dog jet at ten to nine this morning. He has certain demands. We will try to meet those demands and see him later. Hopefully that bath has happened. We saw this flat, we loved it. We put in an asking price offer, which was 1,950 a month. We got outbid by an over asking price offer so we ended up having to pay 2,150 a month instead of the asking price of 1950. This area of pressure will track east. Eventually clearing this evening. Tomorrow, a far more settled day tomorrow, with fewer showers around. The rain could fall heavy. There could be thunderstorms as well. Highs of 19 celsius. The bulk of the showers will clear to the east. Plenty of cloud will build by the end of the night. We will still be left with one or two showers potentially and temperatures will fall away to 1a. It will still stay breezy. Tomorrow things will settle down and winds will fall lighter. Fewer showers around with sunny spells around. Highs of around 21 celsius. It will turn much cooler as we head into the weekend. That s it from me more on the bbc news app and on bbc radio london. Scotland can finish no higher than ninth at the tournament after they were beaten 55 47 by tonga. A fourth defeat in a row then for tamsin greenway s side, Who Sit Second Bottom of pool f. After all the drama of the ashes there s another cricket tournament under way and that s this year s hundred with a mixed day of results for the trent rockets. The men s team, who are the defending champions, got off to a winning start against southern brave. They set a target of 134 but the brave fell six runs short of their target, all gone for 127. But in the opening game of the women s competition, it was southern brave who beat trent rockets by 27 runs. Chasing 157 to win, rockets made just 130 for seven from their 100 deliveries. There was plenty of british medal success again on day two of the para swimming World Championships in manchester. There were two golds alice tai here won the first in the women s 100m backstroke 58 event, whilst Rebecca Redfern won gold in the 100m breaststroke final. She had her right leg amputated below the knee but says she is feeling good and looking forward to next year s paralympics. The last two seasons have just been Like Operation after operation. This has really put me in a place now where i felt great at 75, i was really pleased with my last 25 but it really hurt. That s where i m going to get fitter, get stuff with my strength sorted, like technical bits. I m really happy with how i did here. Didn t have a clue, had zero expectations. But taking it into paris, like amazing. I m so excited. Brilliant, and also a silver medal for stephen clegg. Jon. Chetan, thank you. Let s take you out at windsor castle. This is an iconic landmark, instantly recognisable to people from all over the world. We are of course talking about windsor castle. From tomorrow, visitors will get the chance for a rare birds eye view of the famous royal residence, as the castle s round tower opens to the public for the First Time Since lockdown if you re willing to climb the 200 steps to the top. If you don t fancy that, don t worry. Our royal correspondent, daniela relph, has been for a sneak peek. Within the grounds of windsor castle, the round tower looms large, dating back to 1170. It s had some upgrades over the years, but had to close during the covid lockdown. Now the doors are open again for those of us who can face the 200 steps to the very top. Much of what you see inside hasn t been touched in centuries. The wooden roof has been here since the 14005, and you ll get up close to the sebastopol bell. Installed during the reign of queen victoria, it s only ever rung following the death of the monarch. As you emerge on to the lower parapet, you re around halfway up. You ll get a chance to pause and take in the signs of the fortress that this tower once was. It s at this point on the climb up that visitors are told to put their phones and their cameras away. Photos are banned because beyond the castle walls, are the royal family s private apartments. There are now 100 steps to go up the narrower spiral staircase. If you re nervous of heights, maybe don t look down. As we head to the highest point, the top of the tower, 65 metres up. On a clear day, the views are spectacular. The expanse of the long walk through Windsor Great Park is more impressive from up here. And as you do the circuit around the rooftop, you can also peer down into the grounds of the castle itself. Here, the lower ward around st george s chapel. And take a look around the corner, you ll see the river thames as well as eton. Tell us, do you need a head for heights to do this particular tour . It does help if you have a head for heights. However, i don t have a great head for heights, but people, when they get up here are so wowed by what you can see, you actually forget about it. We don t call it conquer the tower for nothing. There is so much detail to take in. You can look through the arrow slits put in to enhance the castle defences, and even look down through what were called the murder holes, designed to target any enemy below. These views are about offering visitors Something Different a chance to see a part of the castle that isn t open to the public for most of the year with a unique perspective over windsor. And if you time your climb just right, you ll find yourself with a special look at the changing of the guard. This is a tour which gives you a bird s eye view of british history. Daniela relph, bbc news, the round tower, windsor. Isn t that amazing . Just when you think you ve seen it all. It looks so familiar. That you need really good weather if you want to climb up that tower. How the visibility . Here s carol with a look at this morning s weather. Visibility is not brilliant, i have to say, because we have got a lot of cloud and some heavy rain which is likely to turn thundery a bit later. The met office has a Weather Warning out for that, but it is notjust rain, we have also got gust of wind, it is unseasonably windy. You can see the needles on the isle of wight, 56 mph, the mumbles in wales, 49. This area of low pressure which is across us is pushing from the west to the east. It is dragging the rain with it in doing so, the strongest winds we have at the moment will transfer over towards the south east through the course of the south east through the course of the day. You can see all this rain pushing north eastwards, again you can see showery rain in scotland, and more coming in across the south west. So it is a messy picture today, and i will try and simplify it. Here is the centre of the low pressure, and everything is wrapped around it, the wind and also the rain. Gusts with exposure in the Isles Of Scilly, across common and also the Channel Islands, up to 60 mph today, but generally we are looking at 40 55. That might well put some disruption if you are planning a ferry crossing today, so do check before you set out. The rain is wrapped around the area of low pressure, will continue to drift eastwards through the course of the day, some of that will be heavy and thundery, further rain coming in across the North East Of England, and we are looking at strong winds, so again it is going to feel cool. But on either side of all of that, there will be some brightness developing and a few showers. Temperatures today at 15 in the north to about 22 in the far south east. Through this evening and overnight, the first batch of rain clears the south east, veering round the low pressure in the North East Of England, pulling away as we go through the course of the night, and then the wind changes tomorrow to a northerly direction. That will put in more cloud and also some showers. There will be some clear skies, temperatures tonight 12 14. That takes us into tomorrow, so there goes today s low pressure, and if you look at the i suppose you can see it will be another blustery day, the wind coming from the north for the wind coming from the north for the north west, so that it does mean that it the north west, so that it does mean thatitis the north west, so that it does mean that it is going to feel cool. So it is a mixture of sunshine, bright spells, areas of cloud and also some showers. Showers coming in on the wind, and some of those in central and Western Areas could be heavy, you might even hear the odd rumble of thunder here and there. Temperature tomorrow ranging from 15 in the north to 21 in the south. Then on friday we see a bit more of the same, still going to be a blustery wind, there will still be areas of cloud, we will see glimmers of sunshine, but some showers across central and eastern areas, and some of the showers in the east could be heavy and thundery. Temperatures on friday, 13 in the north to about 19 in the south. And then as we head into the weekend, the outlook remains unsubtle, we could well see a period of rain crossing us on saturday and it is back to sunshine and showers on sunday. It remains unsettled until thursday next week, when it looks like High Pressure will move in. We have not seen that for quite awhile. So summer back next week, yes . It is on thursday at the moment. Carol, thank you very much. Now, laura nuttal campaigned tirelessly to raise the signs and symptoms of brain cancer in young people. 24 year old paediatric nurse claudio who was also diagnosed with a brain tumour last year says that the campaigning by laura saved her own life. Caroline turner has been to meet her. This is Claudia Laird early last year, diagnosed with a brain tumour and needing emergency surgery. Good morning, faith. Good morning. You ok . Yeah, you . How you feeling today . And this is claudia now, having just qualified as a nurse working on a children s cancer ward. Are you in any pain at all . No, im 0k today, thank you. Good. When i was in hospital the first time, i remember coming out and thinking, this is why i want to be a nurse, because i now want to give back and give that care to young people and and do whatever i can really to help people. When claudia came to me and said, im going through the same kind i of thing, i said, that will be wonderful for faith to see, i because sometimes its scary, isnt it, in your situation . Yeah. You dont know whats coming next, you dont know what the future holds. And to see claudia, its inspirational, isnt it, l that shes continued to nurse training, shes continued to be positive. | and i think thats thats amazing | for ourjourney to strive towards, to be like claudia. When i told faith, she said, oh, l thatll be nice to talk to her. L yeah. I think it shows a bit of positivity. Someone who s suffered and going through it herself, and look at her smile. You know, you don t see it behind the mask, like, but you can see the eyes grinning away. And i think it s a big help, or it has been faith. This is laura nuttall, who died in may from an aggressive brain tumour. Her tireless campaigning to raise awareness of symptoms is something claudia and her mum will be forever thankful for. Hello it s lovely to see you again. The last time they met laura nuttall s mum was just weeks before claudia became ill. Hello, beautiful girl. How are you doing . I m all right, thank you so much. You look beautiful. Thank you, so do you. I met you all, met your parents and your husband and laura and yourself. And it was a really nice evening. And you gave me the card, and i took it home like you do. I didn t throw it in the bin. I put it in my bedroom drawer. So what symptoms did you have . She were trying to do a nursing essay and she said she couldn t see the screen. The letters were all blurry. And i remember we still had the Christmas Tree up, and i remember herstanding up and walking from the set to the kitchen and it were like she were on a boat. So what do you think would have happened if it had been another two or three weeks before youd have been seen . Before you had a scan . Claudia said she wouldn t be here because the tumour was so big. Having the card and meeting yourselves, meeting laura, having the awareness and you giving me the card. And i did look at it, and i do work at hospice. I do know about brain tumours, i do, i have patients. And having that knowledge did save claudia s life. Wow. Shed be so delighted to know that she was able to help in some way. I mean, she sent out thousands of these cards. We took them to doctors surgeries, dentists, primary schools, high schools. We put them everywhere because we just felt that we need too many people that had tried really hard to get a diagnosis and had to fight for it. And she was really, really keen to make sure that people had the confidence to go in and go, no, ive got this here, and i know that thats not right and i know my child. So that would mean the world to her to know that. There s a big stigma around it not being for young people, really. I think when you think of brain tumours, you don t really think of fit, Healthy People like myself, which is why it was so hard to get the diagnosis in the first place. And if i can do anything, ijust want to help other people get that diagnosis. Despite needing further surgery herself, claudia hopes to help many more patients in the future. Caroline turner, bbc news. Well done, claudia. And laura s amazing legacy continues. Now, we have a friend with us on the sofa. Dr nighat arif is a familiar face to our regular breakfast viewers often joining us to offer help and advice on a wide range of medical issues. A very wide range of issues. I dont know about a very wide range of issues. I dont know about wise, a very wide range of issues. I dont know about wise, but a very wide range of issues. I dont know about wise, but definitely a very wide range of issues. I dont know about wise, but definitely a l know about wise, but definitely a wide range of issues one of her specialisms is women s health and she s now written a book covering everything from puberty to the menopause. You have written it all down. And lovely pictures you have written it all down. And lovely pictures by you have written it all down. fific lovely pictures by this illustrator called lily. The book is called the knowledge, your guide to female health. It is written in a very layperson form, so a 14 or 15 year old can pick up this book and learn about puberty and the changes that happen there, and then all the way to menopause. So it is literally a book that her daughter could read, a mother could read and a grandmother, all in the same household, the same three generations, and have those conversations about women s health which are still taboo. Previously teenage girls could probably find something they had been given that they could read, older women might be given something, but actually, hopefully forwomen something, but actually, hopefully for women it is a journey that we will all go on, go all the way through, so it is important that we all know what is happening at different stages. All know what is happening at different stages. All know what is happening at different stares. ~ ,. ,. Different stages. Absolutely, and it is important different stages. Absolutely, and it is important that different stages. Absolutely, and it is important that men different stages. Absolutely, and it is important that men are different stages. Absolutely, and it is important that men are involved| is important that men are involved in the conversation, and there are sections for dads, for same sex couples, for trans health, it is literally a sprinkling of my 15 years as a gp put into a book, it took me a year to write so has my heart and soul into it. And when you put everything into it, like you have. You really give of yourself. What is it like when that is there in a book for people to read . , ~ is there in a book for people to read . , ~ . , read . Definitely. Ithink im more scared about read . Definitely. Ithink im more scared about my read . Definitely. Ithink im more scared about my contemporaries| read . Definitely. I think im more i scared about my contemporaries are seeing it, but they have been absolutely lovely. Professorjoyce absolutely lovely. Professor joyce harper absolutely lovely. Professorjoyce harper had a look at it and i have other colleagues, and they are saying, i wish i had this when i was younger. And that is really lovely, and that is what i wanted, because when i was nine year old nighat when i came to the uk, they were either patronising, all they had cartoon drawings, and it has real pictures, and i never saw myself in those books, they never had women of colour, so this is a sprinkling of help for women of faith as well, how do you deal with oestrogen patches in ramadan, for instance . And you also talk about things that people might be a bit squeamish about. You rake down all of those barriers, and you are able to do that in a really normal, down to earth way. How important is it that people can talk about stuff thatis it that people can talk about stuff that is uncomfortable . It is really im ortant that is uncomfortable . It is really important that that is uncomfortable . It is really important that we that is uncomfortable . It is really important that we do that is uncomfortable . It is really important that we do that. That is uncomfortable . It is really important that we do that. You i that is uncomfortable . It is really i important that we do that. You guys remember in the pandemic i was on here almost on a weekly basis trying to talk about really difficult things, and also these are real lives, and people s lived experiences need to be reflected. My years as a gp will never equate to someone who was living with that condition, and that requires a level of care and empathy, and i see that in my clinics as well. So what i did what i started making tiktoks in the pandemic, and they went viral, so i m talking about menopause, regina atrophy, endometriosis, and no meiosis, and now atrophy, endometriosis, and no meiosis, and now i have the language for people to ask their gp. And do you see that in the women coming through the door to ask for appointments, and they more willing to come and talk to a doctor about these things . Mi; to come and talk to a doctor about these things . These things . My goodness. We started with these things . My goodness. We started with louise these things . My goodness. We started with Louise Minchin i these things . My goodness. We l started with Louise Minchin here, wake up to the menopause campaign, and we have got men involved, so it is notjust women coming, it is their partners and their dads and sons are coming with their mothers as well, and i think this is a thing, because if a woman is well, the household as well. If the household as well, the economy does really well. So i believe completely it starts with good women s health for any society. Bind it starts with good Womens Health for any society for any society. And it is interesting for any society. And it is interesting because i for any society. And it is interesting because we | for any society. And it is i interesting because we now for any society. And it is interesting because we now talk a lot about the menopause. One thing i think we sometimes don t talk about always honestly as perhaps postpartum issues. Sometimes women still try to put a brave face on difficulties that they might have after having a baby. I know somebody spoke to you recently about the mesh, which i know is controversial and complicated, doesn t work for everybody. Yes, and when we have things like prolapses, it always comes down to lifestyle, education, being able to understand what the Treatment Options are, and the surgical options. The mesh is controversial, it is under review, and it is because horrific symptoms. It is years since i have recommended that patient consider the mesh, i always recommend pessaries or pelvic floor exercises, so the women who are affected by that, there is an Ongoing Investigation but it is something that we do need to look at how to manage prolapse, and there is a new inquiry that has been started to make sure that we are looking after postpartum care in a much better way, after postpartum care in a much betterway, notjust after postpartum care in a much better way, not just worrying after postpartum care in a much better way, notjust worrying about the pregnancy but what happens after the pregnancy but what happens after the pregnancy. The justpregnancy. The pregnancy. Just to finish with, how are things . How is life as a gp right now . We have had all those delays, the waiting list, the challenges, but right across the nhs. I would beginning to see progress . You know i have always beginning to see progress . You know i have always had beginning to see progress . You know i have always had my beginning to see progress . You know i have always had my heart beginning to see progress . You know i have always had my heart on beginning to see progress . You know i have always had my heart on my i i have always had my heart on my sleeve telling you exactly how it is. Life is really busy. I have taken leave is. Life is really busy. I have ta ken leave to is. Life is really busy. I have taken leave to come and do the business with you, so it is my holiday. But the reason that i love what i do is because it is about education. I can reach lots more patients. So i think now general practice has evolved, social media, Mainstream Media plays a huge part, and i m hoping my book, they can acknowledge, will be part of that conversation, and what we re finding now is gps who need to be looking at the way we are working, we have burnout and stress, we have a lot of work huge waiting list, secondary care, we have strikes from Junior Doctors as well, so there is a lot thatis doctors as well, so there is a lot that is going on at the moment. I m trying to stay positive, because i was think that if i lose my smile, then things are not going well, and i m trying to keep that smile for as long as possible. We im trying to keep that smile for as long as possible. Long as possible. We love seeing our long as possible. We love seeing your smile. Long as possible. We love seeing your smile, and long as possible. We love seeing your smile, and your long as possible. We love seeing your smile, and your insight i long as possible. Former us President Donald Trump has been criminally charged with plotting to overturn his 2020 election defeat. He s accused of four counts, including Conspiracy To Defraud the us, tampering with a witness and conspiracy against the rights of citizens. Our North America correspondent sean dilley has more. We love trump he s the first president to be charged with a federal crime, but if previous cases are anything to go by, donald trump s third indictment is only likely to boost his popularity with republican voters. Donald trump responded by posting a Campaign Statement on his social Media Network truth social, likening his prosecution to lawless persecution in nazi germany. Shortly after charges were announced, he sent a Campaign E Mailvowing to continue his campaign for the white house. But thursday s hearing here in washington, dc, is all about the crimes mr trump is accused of committing in the two months following the 2020 election. He s already been charged in two other unrelated cases. He is due to face trial in new york next march over crimes he is alleged to have committed in relation to payments to a former adult film star. In may, he is set to stand trial in florida over claims he unlawfully held on to military and other classified documents. For now, it s all a question of time. In other cases, mr trump has tried to delay until after next year s elections, but prosecutors in this case say they want the trial to go ahead as soon as possible. Sean dilley, bbc news, in washington. What happens next . Our North America correspondent, nomia iqbal sent us this report from outside the courthouse in washington dc. The former president , donald trump is due to appear in court behind me on thursday. Donald trump is due to appear he has the option of appearing virtually or in person, but is likely to appear in person because he has done for his previous two indictments. Inside court, he will face what is arguably the most serious indictment so far, and probably the most serious indictment that a Department Ofjustice has ever brought against a former president and potentially a future president. He is being accused in his 45 page indictment of trying to subvert the Election Results of 2020, of trying to overturn democracy. One of the charges includes Conspiracy To Defraud the United States. Now, mr trump has dismissed this indictment, as he has done with the previous two, saying that this is a political witch hunt, this is the Department Ofjustice being weaponised by President Biden in order to stop him from running for the white house, unsubstantiated claims that he s made. But the republican party, by and large, have backed him. They did so with his previous two indictments. And we ve also seen that his Approval Ratings tend to go up with republican voters. It is probably going to be the same with this indictment. However, how he does with the rest of the american electorate remains to be seen. Right now, however, he still remains the clear front runner for the republican party s president ial nomination. What more do we need to know today . Sally. An mp who was suspended for breaking covid Lockdown Rules has lost her seat after a vote by constituents. A by election will now take place after nearly 12,000 people signed a petition to remove Margaret Ferrier from office. We can speak now to our scotland correspondent chris clements. Chris, how significant is this by election . It is hugely significant. It is going to give an indication as to what might happen in scotland in the event of a general election. Just to recap, it was all sparked three years ago by the sitting mp Margaret Ferrier. She took a train journey from westminster while she had covid from her constituency to rutherglen. It led to her being kicked out of the snp, having a conviction and a 30 day suspension in the House Of Commons. That led to a Recall Petition. That meant 10 of constituents had to sign it before it led to her losing her seat and figuring a by election. In any event it led to 12,000 signing that in the end. Margaret ferrier said she would not stand again as an independent mp. Other parties have indicated they will field candidates. The scottish tories, the liberal democrats. The alba party says it is looking for a Pro Independence unity candidate. It is seen as a straight fight between labour and the snp. The seat has changed hands between the two parties in each of the last three general elections. Important for the snp to regain a seat in much the same way as by elections in england were seen as what happened to rishi sunak s government. For labour, it is important, it is a must win seat as well. If labour wants to make a dent in snp dominance in the Political Landscape in scotland, if they want to win the next general election, they will see as a key target. You can expect feisty contest in the coming months. The first Asylum Seekers are now unlikely to move to an Accommodation Barge in dorset till next week. The home office says the delay is because Working Practices for port staff haven t been signed off yet. It comes as the Fire Brigades Union says it intends to write to the government after its members raised serious concerns. We rejoined now by our chief Political Correspondent, nick eardley. What is going to happen and when . The honest answer is i do not know for sure. The honest answer is i do not know forsure. I the honest answer is i do not know for sure. I do not think anything will move on this front until next week. We were chatting yesterday morning on breakfast about how there was the possibility some migrant single men would be moving on to the barge yesterday. There was talk of today. That is not going to happen. It looks like next week at the very earliest. Some final checks were being done and the Health And Safety Executive was not happy with all of the checks being done on port star. That has led to their most recent delay. Government sources are denying the idea there are safety issues. The Fire Brigade Union are saying some of its members are worried about fire safety. They are going to write to the home office and write about some of their concerns. The decision of the home office to put two people in each room rather than one has meant the capacity has gone right up and has created a potentially some more issues when it comes to fire safety. There is that. Not for the first time we are sitting here of the morning talking about delays to government plans to try to get Asylum Seekers and migrants out of hotels into more affordable accommodation. Controversial policies opposed by many is that it is also i think important to just highlight the government is adamant it will go ahead with this. I have been chatting with people in government about it over the last few days. They say rather than rethinking, they want it to happen even more. If it is a success i hope it will act as an example for others in the future. The home office says it wants to clamp down on scams, which cost the economy £750 million in the last year. Our Correspondent Robin Brant has more. The Scamming Industry is a huge one. Most of it originates online, but the government is moving to further protect those targeted by cold calls. They re often the most vulnerable. Scams have a massive impact across the board. There are financial impacts, but there are also massive emotional impacts on victims. And the problem that you ve got is once you ve been put on what s often referred to as a suckers list, which is a really awful phrase, but once your information is out there, you can be really targeted by scammers. Robin brant, bbc news. They ve had water bomber planes, helicopters in the sky, going back and forth all day to the lake of osoyoos to try to bring this under control. They ve also had over 50 firefighters fighting the blazes, but still, this is posing a threat here. They say officials that it is still something that is evolving a situation that is evolving. They re keeping a very close eye on the Wind Direction here on the dry, hot temperatures, seeing how that could affect the course of this fire. Residents described on saturday how they were told with very little notice that they didn t have time to pack, that they had to get out of town. And so that is really the concern here about what this fire will do in the coming days. It is still very much early, a portion of this, it s only been a few days in. But for people here, they say it s already felt like weeks. Stargazers across the world were treated to a bigger and brighter full moon than usual last night known as the supermoon. It really was super, wasn t it . Look at these pictures the phenomenon takes place when the moon reaches its closest point to earth. It s one of two we will see this month with the next expected on august 30th. Isn t it beautiful lovely pictures from around the world. I am not sure how super the views were here in the uk. Particularly in the brest peninsula. Large waves and flooding are quite possible. We also have heavy, thundery rain today and windy conditions, especially each through the English Channel with areas adjacent to it. Something to bearin areas adjacent to it. Something to bear in mind if you are travelling. The heavy rain has been pushing in from the south west, leading north east this morning. Some showery rain in scotland. This rain is wrapped around an area of low pressure. Some heavy showers coming backin pressure. Some heavy showers coming back in across the southwest. Here is where we are looking at some of the strongest winds. For northern scotland, it is very quiet. It was the brighter, sunny skies. This morning the rain advances through northern england, continues and into southern parts of scotland, eventually pulling out of Northern Ireland leaving showers behind. Wrapping around into the south west and wales. Strong winds in the south west also the English Channel and the Channel Islands. A5 south west also the English Channel and the Channel Islands. As the rain pushes east it is likely to be heavy and thundery and take the rain with it. It will ease a touch in the south west. The rain will persist across North East England. Here with the onshore wind it will feel cool. This evening and overnight the first batch of rain clears the south east. The second batch comes in from North East England and wraps around the south east before it clears. We are then in a northerly flow, seeing more cloud and showers. Tomorrow it is a mixture of bright spells, sunshine and showers but feeling cool in the brisk northerly winds. Thank you. Carol, especially, not patricia so much. Many of us will read Online Reviews before buying a product or booking a holiday but can you fully trust them . A bbc breakfast investigation has found it s all too easy to get fake reviews posted online even for things such as medical procedures. Emma has been doing some digging into this for us. What can you tell us . Yellow pc five star reviews and it gives you a sense of confidence. Online reviews, where we can see what other customers have written can certainly influence our Decision Making when we re thinking of buying a particular product or service. If you re looking for a certain business, you probably google it, and reviews come up in search results. But there s a real problem with how easy it is for fake reviews to appear online. But despite the fact they can be misleading, the average uk household spends about £900 each year after being influenced by Online Reviews. So, they do work. So what might you look out for . If you re having a scroll through some Customer Reviews, perhaps you ll spot some things that look a bit off. Lots of praise and enthusiasm, giving services five star reviews, without a lot of real detail, can be a Tell Tale Sign, that perhaps this isn t a geunine customer, or you might see a lot of typos and bad grammar. And we ve even found examples of fake reviews being used by medicalfirms. So is anything being done about it . I ve been finding out. Having a five star rating from reviewers on google can help a Business Stand Out In Search Results and push it up the rankings. But fake reviews can be bought online, and there s evidence of them being used not only on google but on platforms like amazon, trustpilot and the apple store. Do you ever look at the reviews people have posted online . Yeah. Does it influence you . Yeah. Why is that . Because if it s bad reviews, you re not going to want to go somewhere. And if there s loads of good reviews, then you want to go. You want to go. Do you trust them . Yeah. Even though you have no idea who s written them. Yeah. Do you ever think they might be not real orfake . Sometimes you question it if its certain online companies, because then youd think, oh, well, its interesting how every single reviews all positive. We found examples of fake reviews being used by all sorts of companies, but even by some medical businesses. What if you re looking for, say, a chiropractor in ipswich . The second business to appear in Google Search results is the ipswich spine clinic, run by dr amit patel and it s got an almost perfect 4. 9 5tar rating from customers on google reviews. Whether your condition s due to some trauma or prolonged activities, we may be able to help you with that. How was that impressive rating really achieved . Look at this. Five star reviewer Santosh Kumar says dr amit was brilliant. He assessed my injury and came up with a treatment plan. I felt i was in safe hands and highly recommend this place. But this reviewer has also reviewed a taxi service in canada, a dentist in the us, Conveyancing Services In Australia and a bar in austria, which looks a bit suspicious. And to prove these reviews cannot be real, we cross referenced in detail a number of customers who ve not only reviewed the ipswich spine clinic, but have also reviewed exactly the same businesses all over the world. Way too much of a coincidence. We also looked into this dental business in manchester called smiles better, which advertises its five star rating on its website with a link to its google reviews. Customer rose bellamy says, i m so happy with my new smile, superfast services and everyone was so helpful. And the business writes back, we re so happy that you re delighted with the treatment provided. Keep on smiling. And when we did our detailed cross referencing, our Investigation Shows this review and a number of others for this business are fake. I mean, it s bad enough if you buy a pair of dodgy bluetooth headphones off a fake review. We also found negative Online Reviews from fake customers posted for one of the ipswich spine clinic s local competitors. When we asked the clinic about this, dr amit patel told us that he had outsourced their marketing to a company in india and hadn t himself seen any of the reviews being posted online. Since we contacted him, he says he s now asked for the reviews to be removed. I m calling from the bbc. We also put our findings to smile s better in manchester because this doesn t look very trustworthy for customers, does it . We ve asked this Dentistry Business several times about the fake five star reviews online, but they ve declined to give us any response or explanation. Google says its policies clearly state that reviews must be based on real experiences and that it does monitor them for fraudulent content. But, as our Investigation Shows, many go unnoticed. It does beg the question, who is supposed to be policing all this . The department of trade told us it is strengthening laws to protect customers. It wants to give the Competition And Markets Authority the power to fine the rogue traders. It might get more difficult in future. We ve had a lot of responses to this story this morning. We will come back to that in a moment. Joining us now is mike andrews, from the National Trading standards e crime team. Emma asked who is in charge, fair to say you are. That is good to know, chetan, thank you. We are going to head outside now, if we dare. It was a bit of a soggyjuly and august doesn t look much better with Weather Warnings in place across england and wales today as the rain and wind continues. The wet conditions are causing a big problem forfarmers who the wet conditions are causing a big problem for farmers who are struggling to harvest quickly and efficiently. Our environment Correspondentjonah Fisher is at the North Devon Show jonah, impact can a wet summer have forfarmers . It is not him that is ricky and emily giving their sheep a bit of a clean up. They are doing a fantastic job, working hard to get their sheep ready. It is raining a little bit, more rain forecast for later this morning, but rain has been a big issue for british farmers over the last month or so. We have seen more than 70 more rain but is expected on average forjuly, and that poses difficulties for them, in particular in relation to trying to get the harvest in. Let s have a quick look. Growing crops without water is impossible. But too much rain creates problems, too. Eleanor gilbert is from a farming family in berkshire and is learning to work in a changing climate. This morning because the sun is finally shining we re off to harvest some oilseed rape. After a july dominated by rain, she s making the most of a break in the weather to harvest crops that ideally should no longer be in the ground. Eleanor is working with her youngersister, lucy, to bring in the rapeseed. Such is the pressure to finish the job before the rain starts again that they ve been working late into the night. But the crop is still too moist, and warm air has to be pumped through it on the floor of this store to try and make it dry enough to be sold. If we send it off higher than a 15 moisture content we ll get rejections and also fines. Best way to tell, farmers like to bite. You can tell there s too much moisture. In north herefordshire it s time to pick the blackcurrants for a well known cordial. It rained a lot here injuly, too, but that s not the biggest problem. Blackcurrants are a sensitive bunch, and last winter there just weren t enough cold days. It means that weve got this very uneven bud break, weve got uneven flowering, and weve got a very uneven harvest with some. There will be some berries here that will be on the ground because they were ripe too early, and there will be some that potentially are not quite ripe. They ll get a crop this year, but work is continuing to develop tougher Blackcurrant Varieties better suited to our changing climate. Global warming is already making the uk s weather hotter and wetter. What farmers can successfully grow in british soil is changing too. And to talk a little bit more about what the wet weather means for farmers, i mjoined by two, david from the national farmers union and robin who is a farmer not far from here, you farm sheep and cattle. Can ijust ask here, you farm sheep and cattle. Can i just ask you firstly, robin, it has been really wet injuly. What has been really wet injuly. What has that meant for you and your farm . I think that is an i understatement. Really hard farm . I think that is an understatement. Really hard work. A lot of the work we should have been doing has not happened at all. We are going to be doing july s work in august the way things are at the moment. We have to work with the weather, it is our single biggest variable, and potentially our single biggest cost or beneficiary. To some extent, the weather is the weather. It is full of promise and optimism, a bit like a politician, doesn t always deliver. I5 a bit like a politician, doesnt always deliver. A bit like a politician, doesnt always deliver. Is the way you are thinking about the always deliver. Is the way you are thinking about the weather always deliver. Is the way you are i thinking about the weather changing . We know that Climate Change is happening, things are getting warmer and wetter. Are you having to change the way you approach farming . I think what we are seeing is the seasons feel like they re changing. We are getting extremes of weather at the time of the year that we don t expect it. In autumn doesn t seem to have that definition that it did. We go from winter to summer, it is a little extreme. And david, you represent the national farmers union. Speaking broadly about farming in the uk, are we seeing lots of farmers changing their crops because of Climate Change . {lin lots of farmers changing their crops because of Climate Change . Because of Climate Change . On our farm we are because of Climate Change . On our farm we are changing because of Climate Change . On our farm we are changing our because of Climate Change . On our farm we are changing our crops, i because of Climate Change . On our| farm we are changing our crops, we are going for a drought resistant crops for the sheep, and seeds are developed to combat the dry weather and to help with the reading. The problem is water storage in the extreme weather, and one big task would be for the government to recognise these extremes in the weather and help support with things like water storage. So you are saying it is notjust about having tougher crops in the ground, it is about changing the way you work so that when it does rain heavily, as it has done overjuly, you store that water for use later on . Correct, but those things come up with leter correct, but those things come up with later on, but those things are difficult with later on, but those things are difficult to with later on, but those things are difficult to fund, really. They have the tractor is on standby in the car park in case they need to drag some of the cars out, but so far, so good. It looks like the agricultural show here at north devon is going to carry on, whatever the weather. The show must go on, jonah good to see you, we have enjoyed that. The farmer say that they are always happy. I m not sure how happy they will be when they see the Weather Forecast for the next few hours. Good morning, carol. Forecast for the next few hours. If you like the rain, you are in for a treat, because we have got a lot of it around. Some heavy, thundery rain that, moving from west to east, being replaced by heavy showers, and it is windy, particularly so across southern counties of england, the English Channel including the Channel Islands. What is happening at low pressure is driving our weather, pulling from the west towards the east, dragging the rain with it. Drier conditions across northern scotland and later it will dry up a touch. Shower remain in scotland and some heavy showers are starting to come back in across parts of wales and south west england. There is a lot of cloud around to start the day as well today. A band of rain pushing north, and with the showers coming in across the south west and also parts of wales. But the wind is strong, unseasonably so across the south. We are looking at gusts widely of 40 55, potentially up to 60 mph with exposure on the Isles Of Scilly, west, the Channel Islands. Also very strong winds around brittany, and in fact because of that and because of the large waves that and because of the large waves that are likely to be created, driven by the winds and the high tides, this system has been named storm patricia. The rain will continue falling across south east scotland and North East England. We will have heavy showers that could be thundery, moving from the south west towards the south east, the following strongest winds following along. And across parts of Central Scotland and Northern Ireland and wales as well. Having said that, you could catch the odd shower, temperatures today 15 to about 22 degrees. A5 shower, temperatures today 15 to about 22 degrees. As we go through this evening and overnight, the showers pull away from the south east, but then on the batch coming across the north of england, and they too put into the south east before moving away. And the wind would have changed direction to tomorrow, going northerly. It will drag in more cloud and also showers. Another cold night, temperatures 12 to about 14 degrees. Then as we head into tomorrow, the low pressure will be away on the near continent, all in a northerly or north westerly wind. It will be quite a blustery day tomorrow because a lot of showers. A lot of them will be in the north, through central areas and in the west, few in the east. And in between the showers, we will see some brightness or indeed some sunshine. Debrajust tomorrow sunshine. Debra just tomorrow getting sunshine. Debrajust tomorrow getting up at best to around 21 degrees. Then friday it is the same, a subtle change in the Wind Direction, more north westerly which means the shower distribution will be slightly different, looking at central and eastern areas in particular, and some of those showers in Eastern England are likely to be heavy and thundery, and these are the temperatures, 13 to about 90 degrees, so down a touch. Saturday it looks like we will see some rain, and then back into blustery showers on sunday. Sally and jon, i am away, back to you in the meantime. Carol, thank you. It is ten to nine. Six years ago, former paratrooper chris lewis set off for a walk. Quite a big walk he wanted to walk the entire 19,000 miles around the british coastline, with just £10 in his pocket. Well, he s finally finished his mammoth journey and probably got more than he bargained for along the way. As well as raising half a Million Pounds for the armed forces he s also returned home with a fiancee, a 15 month old son and a pet dog called jet. The point that we re just walking up to now was the very point that i stood the day that i decided to walk the uk coastline. So yeah, it s a very meaningful place to me. It was the day that my whole life started to change. Setting off in 2017, he headed north, covered Northern Ireland and in may 2018 adopted his dog jet, while on the west coast of scotland. During the first coronavirus lockdown in 2020, he was given the keys to the only house at this place on the shetland islands, and after meeting his girlfriend kate on the 25th Of August that year, they continued on together, spending the second lockdown in a tent in the woods. Their son, magnus, was born on the 1st of may last year, and on the 5th ofjuly this year they finally crossed the Severn Bridge back into wales. And so after six years away, it may be the same view, but in a much happier setting. That was lucy vladev reporting there. We re joined now by chris, his fiancee kate and their dog jet. And baby magnus. Good morning. How are you . More importantly, how are you . Istate are you . More importantly, how are ou . ~. ,. ,. , are you . More importantly, how are ou . ,. , you .
