We have also heard from bazoums party, that there is a huge crackdown on members of bazoums party, about 130 people have been arrested, and they are saying that the military, the coup leaders in niger are carrying out repressive dictatorial acts to establish an authoritatrian regime in that country. Lets talk about france. The french are preparing to get their citizens out of the country and there is anger against france within the country and the wider region as well . Indeed, we have seen protests two times now, last week and on sunday, when people came out on the streets carrying both russia and nigerflags and Chanting Anti France and anti west slogans. On sunday, they tried marching on the French Embassy but were repelled by the police. There had been an allegation that french troops fired at the protesters, which france denied, but what the French Foreign minister said is that these accusations, including the one that france was planning to attack the president ial palace in order to free bazoum, were all signs of Destabilisation Attempts by the new regime in niger. So france has 1500 troops in niger as we speak. Its a former colonial power there, so it has been helping to fight insurgency since a decade now.
