And well be taking an in depth look at the papers with our reviewers Benedicte Paviot from france 2a, and Martin Bentham of the evening standard. Stay with us for that. Good evening. Welcome to bbc news. Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has promised a thorough investigation after its match with chelsea this evening was halted when a player complained of racist abuse. The chelsea defender toni rudiger said hed been subjected to monkey chants, prompting the referee to briefly stop play. As our Sports Correspondent andy swiss reports, its the latest in a series of recent incidents affecting the english game. It was a day english football was once again overshadowed by racism. Chelseas Antonio Rudiger clearly showing hed heard abuse from the crowd an hour into his teams game against tottenham. He informed his captain, who in turn told the referee, and after he spoke to both managers, for the first time in the premier league, a warning was made over the public address system, twice repeated. Announcer racist behaviour among spectators is interfering with the game. Please remember that in football, there is no place for racism. At the end of the match the chelsea skipper explained what happened. Toni came to me and he told me that he was listening in the crowd monkey noises, and obviously myjob as a captain is to go straight to the ref and to report it. Now its an investigation and we have to work all together towards eradication of the problem. Its an issue in the life and in football, unfortunately, and we need to keep working hard. Its been confirmed that the three warnings to the fans all related to a single incident. Tottenham have launched an investigation. Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is a very proud club in relation to these situations. We also deal internally with that. But i think the protocol was followed. This is just the latest allegation of racist abuse to hit the english game. Two weeks ago, a man was arrested at manchester citys game against manchester united, while an fa cup match between haringey and yeovil had to be abandoned. Todays match was also marred by a missile being thrown onto the pitch near chelseas goalkeeper. But it is once again the issue of racism thats put english football under the sternest scrutiny. Andy swiss, bbc news. Earlier i spoke to rob hastings, a tottenham fan who was at the game with his father. He described what he saw from where he was sitting, the ref had stopped the game and was chatting to the players and then ran across to speak to the managers. So i sit with my father, and we sat wondering, what is going on here . And following the racist incidents that england have endured in international matches, i suppose football fans are now a bit more educated in the sort of protocols of what happens when these incidents occur, so i said to my dad, the only thing i can think of is that someone has thrown something or someone had said something racist because we now know that that is what the referees do when those sort of things happen, so the ref ran over to the managers, spoke to them for a few seconds and then ran back and play continued. I dont know how long afterwards, it might have been a couple of minutes, an announcement was made to the entire stadium saying, i think it said something along the lines of, this is a security announcement racist behaviour is interfering with the game. Racism plays no part in football. Something like that. I do not know, the remaining 20 minutes or however long it was of the match, that announcement was played again another couple of times. Ive been a season Ticket Holder at spurs for only three years but i have been going to matches regularly for the past 15, i would say. I have never seen or heard anything racist, so it is quite a shock when your own club is involved in this. There was an incident, i think, last season, where someone was alleged to have thrown a banana at an arsenal fan and that was equally a shock. The spurs club, it has quite a sort ofjewish identity, and for the club over the years, the fans have been the victims of racism over the years, and it is just disgusting and horrible to hear that your own club now is involved in this. It only takes one fan amidst 60,000 to do something stupid and horrible, to tarnish the name of the club and the fans and the whole community, i suppose. The fans i was speaking to after the match, everyone was just really embarrassed that it should be our club that is involved in this, and it is obviously something in wider society. It is not just a problem in football. I suppose when lots of fans are together and in very passionate circumstances, that is when some of these horrible things can come out, but it is something that is a problem in society generally, and it is sad that football maybe provokes it sometimes. That was rob hastings speaking to me earlier, an tottenham fan. You an tottenham fan. You 0ur correspondent, jon donnison, sent this update from outside tottenhams ground in north london. Well, spurs have a tuesday statement this evening saying they are conducting a thorough investigation and they will include speaking to the chelsea players. That statement says, any form of racism is com pletely u na cce pta ble says, any form of racism is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our stadium. They say they will take the strongest possible action against any individualfound to possible action against any individual found to be possible action against any individualfound to be paving in such a way, including stadium bans. 0ne such a way, including stadium bans. One would imagine with all the cameras and the technology in the stadiums these days it might be easy to catch any alleged perpetrator. Andy mentioned those incidents in the uk earlier this year and of course england players, black england players, being abused earlier this year when they played in bulgaria. Today, though, just a reminder that if there were people out there who thought that the issue of racism in football had gone away, that doesnt seem to be the case. Jon donnison there. Plenty more on this story in our sport bulletin just after 11 15pm. Tesco has suspended production of greetings cards made at a factory in china after a message was found inside one written by prisoners who said they had been forced to work. It was discovered by a 6 year old in london writing her christmas cards. It is thought to have come from a prison in shanghai, as Katie Prescott reports. Ready . Uhhuh. Here we go. It was 6 Year Old School Girl Florence Widdicombe whod sat down at home to write christmas cards to her friends and family when she discovered that one of the cards had already been written in. We were writing in them and about on my sixth or eighth card somebody had already written in it. There was a message which read the first thought was it must be some kind of prank. But on reflection we realised it was actually potentially quite a serious thing. And so i felt very shocked but i also felt a responsibility to pass it on to Peter Humphrey, as the author asked me to do. The family did just that and got in touch with the human rights journalist Peter Humphrey who the message in the card suggested they contact. He himself had spent time in the qing pu prison for his part in an alleged corruption scandal. I spent two years in captivity in shanghai between 2013 and 2015, and my final nine months of that captivity was in this very prison in this very cell block where this message has come from, and these prisoners are living a very bleak daily life. There are 12 prisoners per cell. They sleep in very rusty iron bunk beds with a mattress which is not more than about icm thick. A tesco spokeswoman said the company was shocked and that it would never allow prison labour in its supply chain
