As a result of this attacks, young muslims are being radicalised at the same time. Lets see a clip. So you can see in from this clip, it is gritty, but has a thriller undercurrent. We then follow an undercover agent who is infiltrating that cell, but who becomes absolutely convinced that the greater threat is being posed by these kind of white nationalists. The interesing thing about the drama is this on the one hand, it takes a real life situation, it imagines it four years in the future. Theres an element of fantastic imagination about it. At times it is really gritty and really convincing and does a very interesting job of wrong footing the audience about their expectation about where the drama is going. At other times, i have to say, it tips into rather crass melodrama. You end up with a film that is intriguing. I do think the director is an interesting film maker and we will see better work in the future. The things with this is that its fine, but not great, because it does have a tendency to slip into melodrama, when actually what it needs is to keep the downbeat tone that characterises the best scenes. It is set in 2025. I wonder why. Because its basically extrapolating from the present situation and saying, lets see, if we imagine these trends, lets put it. So, its near enough future to be present, but far enough away to not actually be what is happening right now. Thank you for that. Now, jumanji the next level. The same but more, you say. You could say that about any sequel, couldnt you 7 well, no, because its quite often the same but less. Nobody thought thatjumanji welcome to thejungle would be any good, because the original movie. I know people like it, i was never a big fan of it. In welcome to the jungle they essentially, rather than things coming out of the board game, our heroes go into the video game. This time, we get the same crew back again of dwaynejohnson, jack black, kevin hart and karen gillan, but we add a couple of new characters. These old codgers played by danny devito and danny glover, who accidentally get sucked into the game with our young heroes. And all the things that made the original film work really well this central body swap idea, these people get sucked into the game and have avatars and one becomes heroic, one becomes the rock, one becomes jack black it is like that, but everything is turned up to ii. More body swapping, there is some really good fun special effects sequences. Theres a giant ostrich chasing a dune buggy seequence which made me think, wow, cg has really come on since the days ofjurassic park. As long as we assume, it is not looking to redefine the boundaries of cinema, but as a good piece of solid entertainment i was going to say family entertainment, with the exception of the fact there were a couple of off colour gags that i thought did not need to be in there. But those aside, i actually thought it was much better than we had any right to expect for the second time, or third time if you count the third, orfourth if you count zathura, which i dont. Very good to know. Right, now we have the kingmaker. A documentary about Imelda Marcos. Who had 3000 shoes, famously. Reports vary. It is made by Lauren Greenfield, she knows how to do documentaries of extravagant wealth. We see Imelda Marcos interviewed, and she proclaims herself to be the mother of the nation this great, healing person who is driven out unfairly and is the only person who could possibly reunify her people. We hear her saying that all the extravagances that she had, they were all there in order to offer a shining star to the poor, who need somebody to look up to. As as we see in this clip, she drives around handing out money because she has some. She had a lot. I read she had a fortunate 24 billion, certainly a bit to giveaway. Yet, one of the things this documentary is about is how much of the money she still has is now being used to attempt to reintroduce her dynasty. We follow her as she promotes her son, who is known affectionately as bonbon, in the elections. The really interesting thing about this documentary is, on the one hand you had this character, this ludicrous character, who speaks ridiculously about herself and her situation. But behind it is something much darker somebody he talks about martial law as being a golden age. Somebody speaks about gaddafi being a friend and turns their noses up at any reports of torture and incarceration and killings. Somebody who basically has, still, a huge amount of wealth that nobody is entirely sure where it came from. Peter bradshaw in the guardian i hate to quote another critic said rather brilliantly that this was an exquisitely horrible portrait, and i think that is exactly what it is. The triumph of what Lauren Greenfield does is she draws you in just enough to the ridiculousness of the situation. The film does a very good job of balancing what will interest an audience the stories about the shoes and all that stuff and actually the horrible reality. She is an extraordinary figure. I think she has the Guinness World record for the amount stolen from a government, basically. At one point she said, if i was running this now i could have sorted out all the worlds problems, because all the World Leaders love me. And as soon as they meet me, they smile, and that will be it. And you think, you might actually believe that to be true. But it isnt. Well, evidently, its not true, no. Best out . 0rdinarily love. And i cant recommend this highly enough. This is liam neeson and Leslie Manville as a couple facing a diagnosis of breast cancer, and its a year in their life. It is written by owen mccafferty, a really well known belfast playwright, and directed by the couple who made good vibrations, a film about the Northern Ireland punk scene. And i think this is a great movie, it has fantastic performances, despite the subject matter, it is very human and funny, very much about their relationship. It is really honest, written to some extent from personal experience. I have now seen it three times, and every time i have seen it i have liked it more, and i really want people to go and see it. A hard sale, i know, but a really good movie. Best dvd . A bit of nonsense angel has fallen, which i had chosen because i think the first two in this series i thought were rubbish. And then now, Gerard Butler teams up with nick nolte, and suddenly it becomes funny. And this was the first in the series when i thought, actually, youve got the measure of this instrument. Of this now. This is deliberately ridiculous and i enjoyed it. Gerard butler is back in my good books. He is a secret Service Agent who, everywhere he goes, choas seems to follow. But in this one, he basically has got to go off on his own, because he is suspected of being the bad. Of course he is not bad, he is Gerard Butler. I have to say i love films about american president s and their bodyguards. There was that one with with clint eastwood. I cant remember. Yeah, but 0lympus has fallen started off with a premise that was done almost at the same time by white house down, and of the two movies, white house down was the better one. And Gerard Butler nobody chews scenery like Gerard Butler. And him and nick nolte together. Nick nolte plays his gruff, survivalist father from whom he is completely estranged their scenes together are a joy. Then theres all the other stuff. Other stuff which kind of goes with it. We have low pressure sitting across scotland as we head towards the end of the week. South of that, a fairly brisk wind with gales initially in the south west of england. They winds will ease a little, but to show a small pile into wales, increasingly into north west england, but also for Northern Ireland. Sunny spells elsewhere for Northern England south west scotland. More rain and a northern and eastern parts of scotla nd northern and eastern parts of scotland chili once again here. As we head into the evening, we still have rain and North Eastern parts of scotland. A band of showers moving toward south west scotland. The wet and in the south west of england. That rain on the south west on that weather front will run away fairly quickly, and we have still got that fairly brisk airflow quickly, and we have still got that fairly brisk air flow as we head into the weekend. That means some spells of sunshine, but it will also mean so spells of sunshine, but it will also mean so much those will be accompanied by blustery winds. It will be cold enough for some snow on the hills. And you can see that across scotland. Most of the showers on saturday for scotland and Northern Ireland. Very few until right at the end of the day in england and wales, but signs of wetter weather riding. A cold day, temperatures five to 7 degrees. Thats where the front climbing and the west is going to sweep across mainly england and wales on saturday night, and it is going to bring some snow. A few centimetres over the hills of wales, and likely and Northern England. As it clears a bit, it is going to turn icy about the money. More showers are for england and wales on sunday. Much of north east england down towards lincolnshire the fans probably dry. If you are showers. Scotland and Northern Ireland, particularly showery on a sunday afternoon. In the cold air, we still have an area of low pressure to the north of the uk into the beginning of next week. The weather front approaching the south east corner as well. The beginning of next week, they winds will fall into. An increasing risk of some frosted run. Increasing cloud coming towards the south east of england, ahead of that, one or two showers, most of them clipping the north west of scotland. You can see how cold it is. Temperatures again typically five to 7 degrees. That low pressure is weakening, but not moving anywhere. This weather front wheel second. It will possibly put a cloud further north into england and wales, and maybe bring rain and to the south. Some uncertainty about that. So got some showers clipping the north west of scotland, Northern Ireland looks larger dry with sunshine. Again, quite cold. Looking ahead, low pressure is going to dominate. This one and the atlantic is a big one. It will sit very close to the uk from may to beat onwards. Another area of processor rotating around it, which means bands of rain heading our way, and we are going to replace that calls on potentially frosty air with something much milder, and of course much more uncertain.
