From next year ministers are saying that will change and it will go saying that will change and it will 9 up saying that will change and it will 9 up by saying that will change and it will go up by the rate of inflation. Labour isnt convinced. It thinks is a cynically timed announcement to coincide with the start of the general Election Campaign. Labour is making a big announcement of its own today to create 450,000 newjobs by making sure that homes are more Energy Efficient. John maguire, bbc news. A fantastic project. It is really worthwhile, indeed. And about time, too. We are going to look at the weather forecast. Terrible weather yesterday for people, particularly in the south. Strong winds caused lots of disruption across large parts of the south of england. All Ferry Services at dover had to be cancelled for a number of hours, while winds of up to 80 Miles Per Hour damaged property across devon and cornwall. One warmer was killed when a tree fell in dorset. Some fairly bad weather. Let us look at the picture. Heres stav with a look at this mornings weather. Good morning. They hope you are both well. It was a very wild day yesterday along the south east coast of england. Incredible gusts. They have a list of wind gusts. You can see some pretty famous places. Around 60 70 mph. The isle of wight, we saw that with wind gusts of 109 mph. That is pretty exceptional. Today, a lot better. Pa rt exceptional. Today, a lot better. Part two of the weekend is looking quieter. We have got an area of low pressure which has been filling in, winds are turning later for many. Quite breezy across northern scotland. This is where we will have the concentration of the weather fronts bringing further outbreaks of rain, eastand fronts bringing further outbreaks of rain, east and south east scotland pretty well throughout the day. A slice of dry weather. That allows for mist and fog first thing this morning was authentically quite quickly. There will be some sunshine around, too. Showery ran spreading across england and wales at times. It will not be completely dry but you will notice there are some bright spots in between the cloud and the rain. A fairly breezy day across northern and eastern scotland and turning breezy again across the south west as we see the arrival of another area of low pressure by the end of the day. But in the sunshine, with lighter winds, it wont feel too bad with doctor temperatures 10 14 degrees. That is how sunday is looking. As we have through sunday night our area of low pressure gets ever closer. The winds begin to pick up ever closer. The winds begin to pick up again across the south coast and we will see outbreaks of rain or showery bursts of rain which could be heavy, may be a rumble of thunder across england and wales will stop in the meantime it stays breezy and wet across eastern scotland. You can see why we have still got this weather front, fairly tightly packed isobars on monday. Low pressure slapback across the country. At the centre of it we will see lighter winds for much of england and wales. But a few slow moving heavy showers could turn out to be thundery through the afternoon. Further south, closer to the edge of the southern flank of the low it will be breezy again across the south coast. Temperatures generally in the low teens celsius. The low pressure slips eastwards on tuesday. A few showers again across central and eastern areas but sunshine. The wind is starting to come down from the north behind that area of low pressure. That will introduce some fresh air. It will turn chilli across the north of the country on tuesday. The blue extending further south as we head on into the middle pa rt south as we head on into the middle part of the week. It is set to turn chilly but we will also be looking at new areas of low pressure moving in off the atlantic. Although it will turn chilli through the week it will turn chilli through the week it will turn chilli through the week it will turn wetter and windier in places. You can see for many places temperatures in single figures for much of next week. It will feel very autumnal. Autumnal indeed, thank you very much for that. Obviously it is kind of the morning after the morning before in Rugby World Cup terms, but we will reflect on what happened this time yesterday with the Rugby World Cup. I was obviously watching bbc brea kfast yesterday cup. I was obviously watching bbc breakfast yesterday morning but had half an eye on the rugby on the other side. I was driving from winchester, having done a talk at the guildhall, back to london. I have to say, the commentary by the tea m have to say, the commentary by the team was brilliant. Just the sense of the achievement that south africa had got with this win was incredible. It was just. Had got with this win was incredible. It wasjust. It had got with this win was incredible. It was just. It was jawdropping, the match, if you saw it. We have a lot of conversation about that, about the significance of the win for south africa, throughout the morning this morning. We will speak to a sports journalist injohannesburg, we will speak to a sports journalist in johannesburg, and a we will speak to a sports journalist injohannesburg, and a man who knows what it is like to lose to south africa in a World Cup Final. They are still celebrating. Now its time for the film review, with mark kermode and jane hill. Hello, and a very warm welcome to the film review on bbc news. To take us through this weeks cinema releases, as ever, is mark kermode. Hi, mark. Hi. Very, very interesting mixed bag of this week. We have the aeronauts up, up and away in a huge balloon. Doctor sleep the sequel to the shining. Chuckles nervously. And after the wedding, starring Michelle Williams and Julianne Moore. Yeah, that was my nervous laugh, actually. I know, i know well come to that youll be fine. Well come to that. Yes, lets start with the lovely felicityjones and eddie redmayne. Yes. So, how do you feel about heights . Are you ok with heights . I am not too bad, actually. Oh, really . See, im. Is this gonna. . Im terrified of heights. 0h, 0k. So this is basically a mixture of fact and fiction and spectacle. It is basically about an attempt by a meteorologist and a balloon pilot to go the highest above the earth that anyone has ever gone in the 19th century. Two characters james glaisher, played by eddie redmayne, who is a real life character, and then amelia wren is played by felicityjones, who is a composite character, based to some extent on the figure of Sophie Blanchard but a number of different people. They are essentially chalk and cheese. Hes a straight laced scientist. She is a flamboyant shes a pilot but shes also a showman. Shes somebody who understands the need to put on a show as the balloon takes off. Together, they are attempting to break the record for altitude. And of course, the higher they go, the more they encounter weather, storms, cloud and Everything Else that the film makers choose to throw at them. Heres a clip. Im not sure your instruments are much use to us now. We need to batten down. Please put on your wet weather clothing. There are no prizes for obstinacy james, if you wont listen to me. Thunder claps. Listen to that. But not one of my readings suggested a storm. Well, thats what it is. And were inside the cumula, which is precisely where we shouldnt be. Dont worry, shes not made of conductive material, so we wont attract lightning. And if we are struck, the gas will explode, so we wont live long enough for me to point out. Argh i shouldnt laugh i mean, i dont mean to. No, but its. It is nervous laughter. Heres the thing. Its, you know, its an entertaining cinematic spectacle. On the one hand, you have the narrative, which follows some fairly basic parameters. They are chalk and cheese characters, they are stuck together in a basket which is up in the air, they have to learn to put their differences aside and work together, ok . And it takes liberties with the truth although in the back of it, there is a true story which has been much polished. However, for me, the main thing was that i went to see it thinking eddie redmayne, felicityjones, its going to be a character study. Yeah. I hadnt realised how vertiginous it was going to be. And i am terrified of heights. Ive actually been up in a hot air balloon and i found the taking off thing one of the scariest things ever. And this film is really, really good at giving you the spectacle of clambering around, in and outside a balloon, lost in the highest reaches of i found several moments of it absolutely thrilling, but also absolutely terrifying. Its a really good piece of cinema. Narratively, there are some hokey elements to it. I like the characters, largely because these are very good performances and of course have worked together before. And the story is interesting, if fanciful. But the sheer cinematic spectacle of it is what won me over. I im not kidding. I spent about 20 25 minutes of the film like literally going like this because i am so you ever see that film. Thats like me in a horrorfilm now you know exactly did you ever seen that film the walk, which was the you know, Philippe Petit walking between the twin towers . 0h i know the one you mean, yes it was a documentary which has no moving footage. But then theres a Robert Zemeckis drama in which we saw well, i felt like that for a good 25 minutes. So i thought it was very entertaining. Fanciful, but very entertaining. 0k. And having said im fine with heights, you see, im not brave enough to go up in one. Because i am more worried about the landing. And i imagine. Yes, the coming down is always going to. Its quite. Yes, absolutely terrifying. Yes. Now, but although, to be fair, so doctor sleep is an adaptation of stephen kings sequel to the shining. And you know that famously, stephen king was not a big fan of Stanley Kubricks film the shining. He had many problems with it. So this picks up the story years later. Danny has grown up and is now dealing with the demons of the past. There are other people out there in the world who have his shining abilities psychological powers, psychokinetic powers and they are being pursued by a character, rose the hat, played by rebecca ferguson. And we the narrative is going to move inexorably, we know, back towards the overlook hotel. But, heres the thing. The shining and many people find the shining terrifying. I have never done. I think its atmospheric but i dont think it is terrifying. This for me, is not primarily a horrorfilm. It is much more like it or like all those stephen king stories, like firestarter or like carrie about a young person who has a ability they do not fully understand and then what happens to them as a result of it. It is a kind of episodic, psychological journey. Its kind of an adventure, rather than a horror movie. And i went into it thinking how is anyone gonna pull off a sequel to the shining . It is a completely different movie. It is absolutely its own thing, its much more about narrative, its much more about storytelling, whereas the kubrick film was just to do with atmosphere and that feeling of dread. And actually, i thought it was much better than i had expected. I think it is well played, it is made quite sincerely. Clearly, the director mike flanagan, who also wrote it, cares very much both for the stephen king text and the Stanley Kubrick film. And there are sort of cheeky callbacks to the kubrick. But i thought it found its own space and, like i said, i went in there scared that it would just let me down, and actually being pleasantly relieved by the fact that its i say this advisedly, to me, it reminded me of things like there were elements of twilight in there, and i do know that some people think that is a criticism but i love the twilight movies. There was an element of that kind of fantasy in there, which i am a big fan of it. 0k. You would be fine with it. You would be absolutely fine with it. 0k. But you have to see the shining first. 0k after the wedding. Lets move on. A remake . A remake of a danish film . A remake of a danish swedish film, yes, directed by susanne bier. This flips the genders of the originalfilm. So Michelle Williams is isabel. Shes a young Woman Working in an orphanage in kolkata. She is told that she has to go to the america to meet an investor. She does not want to go but she has told you have to go. When she gets there, she meets Julianne Moores businesswoman who says im very busy, my daughter is getting married tomorrow. Come to the wedding and well talk about it there. But as soon as she gets the wedding and set eyes onJulianne Moores husband and daughter, she completely freaks out. She panics and she runs off to be on her own at the wedding. Heres a clip. I couldnt agree more. I am not into weddings. Id like to be alone. Tell me about it. Crowds are awful. Music and laughter in background. Ok, i can take one for the team and drink them both. Chuckles. You know how at every wedding, there are always a few single people pretending not to care theyre single . Well, were those people. Chuckles. Its weird, right . Im divorced. Whats your story . Get away from me. 0k. What you see in that clip is everything you need to know about that film is playing out on herface not what he is saying, but on the way she is reacting. When she first sets eyes on the family, the way she reacts tells you the story. You pretty much know from that moment what the big reveal is, and i think that works really well. It turns out, actually, the story then has further reveals which are far more schematic and rather too neat for me. So for me, the film balances between two weird things. On the one hand, very good performances in which individual moments work really, really well, but an overarching narrative which is kind of melodramatic and schematic and sort of rather too neatly laid out. But on the basis of the performances alone, it is really great. See, i love show dont tell film making. For me, my favourite thing in a film is when someone does not say anything, butjust by the way they look or stand, you know exactly where you are. There are a couple of moments. I think it is a flawed film. Some critics have been very sniffy about it, but there are individual moments in this which worked really well and justify the things that do not work about it. Because it isjust those moments and incidentally, ithink, Julianne Moore is always terrific. And Michelle Williams i like her also. Yeah. And there is a dynamic between the two of them, which is although theyre chalk and cheese, very, very different, they are, as the drama plays out, you realise that they are two sides of a similar coin. 0k. And now, best out this week . I know what you were going to choose. Yeah, you did. I knew. Its have you seen it yet . It was so stressful you did . It was so stressful did you like it . Um, i thought it was very well made but i. 0k. Your your thing earlier. Like, sitting like this. Yep. I was so stressed. I struggle to enjoy films that stress me out that much, im afraid. 0k. But i thought i thought the filming was excellent and i thought the score was very unusual and very interesting. I mean, theoretically, it is meant to be a film about teenagers, but i think it is about much more. Its like lord of the flies, its kind of heart of darkness. That mica levi score. The score was extraordinary, yeah. Unbelievable, which gets under your skin. So are you glad that you saw it . I can tell that you did not enjoy it. No, you see, im afraid im a bad person because i only managed about two thirds of it because i was so stressed, i could not take any more. Oh, wow 0k. I couldnt. I was looking at them, why is no one dying of hypothermia . Who is the hostage . You know, all of this. But was i think what. I know, i am being too literal. But it is intense. It is an intense cinematic experience. And i think when we get to the end of the year, its gonna be on my best of the year list. It is. I know this. So youll have to revisit it. Quick thought about dvd . Because i liked that too. Ok, so the souvenir, which is a film byjoanna hogg, who i think is one of, you know, one of britains best most interesting film makers. It is based on a relationship that she had many years ago, about which a degree of mystery still exists. Brilliant performances by tom burke and honor swinton byrne. She is currently cutting the souvenir part two, which is about the aftermath of the relationship, and i cannot wait to see it because i think this is joanna hoggs most accessible film although it is still very, very chilly. It is almost like a psychological thriller, its almost like a gaslighting story. And i think it is really wonderful. I think she is a brilliant film maker and it is really worth seeing. It is fascinating. And i think youd really like it. I loved it. No, i love it. Oh, you have seen it . Fine, fine, fine. Yep. Im with you on that one. Looking forward to souvenir two . Very much. Great, great. It is an interesting week. Enjoy your cinema going, whatever you choose to see. Have a great weekend. Bye bye. Hello, this is breakfast with Babita Sharma and rogerjohnson. Talking about things out of this world. Lewis hamilton, you would put him in that category when you think about the successes he has had. He has so many interests away from the circuit. He is into his fashion, music, and still finds time to win world titles. He is on the verge of number six. Michael schumacher was 35 when he won his seventh, Lewis Hamilton could win his sixth at 34. But the offender has his work cut out because he must win in austin or its all over. In a colder than usual texas he kept the heat on in qualifying, claiming pole position at the circuit of the americas for the first time. This is one of hamiltons favourite tracks, having won here more than anyone else. But he could do no better than fifth, more than a quarter of a second off the pace. Obviously not great. But it is what it is. We have another day to fight tomorrow. So just try and focus towards tomorrow. Valtteri bottas did a greatjob. So congratulations to him. It should be a fun day. Theres all the possibility still in the world. So thats it. Even if Valtteri Bottas wins, hamilton will become champion if he finishes eighth. It will see him move above one Manuel Feller show in the list. Next year he could equal Michael Schumachers seven titles. He already has more pole positions than anyone else. Already one of the grades, hamilton could go one of the grades, hamilton could go on to become the greatest of all. Nick paris, bbc news. History was made last night as Irelands Katie Taylor became a World Champion in two weight divisions with a unanimous points victory over christina linardatou. It was the first time the olympic gold medallist has stepped up to the super lightweight division. She now owns all four lightweight belts and now this one a division higher. While it was an emotional farewell for Anthony Crolla who was contesting his final professional fight. He beat spains Frank Urquiaga in front of a home crowd at manchester arena. The former wba lightweight champion did seem overwhelmed at times during the opening rounds. But did enough to win a majority decision. Rory mcilroy leads by two shots on the final round of the world Golf Championship in shanghai. Mcilroy was the overnight leader in china, ahead of Xander Schauffele and Louis Oosthuizen after three rounds of 67. He has four holes left to play and is maintaining his lead so far. Going well, rory mcllroy. Great britains hockey teams are a step close to playing at next summers Tokyo Olympics with victories in the first legs of their qualifying play offs. More nervy for irelands women though they need to win their second leg with canada after the first one finished 0 0. Good wins in their opening legs for the two british sides. Building up to tokyo and the olympics. The two british sides. Building up to tokyo and the olympicsm the two british sides. Building up to tokyo and the olympics. It is. It is creeping around quickly. We are back to events injapan now. Thank you very much indeed. South african captain, siya kolisi, says he hopes winning the world cup in japan will inspire every kid back home. He is the springboks first black captain, and led the team to victory against england yesterday. Were joined now from johannesburg by sports journalist, kate nokwe. Good morning to you. Thanks for talking to us. Other celebrations are still going on . Id bet they are i think the hangover is going to go are i think the hangover is going togoa are i think the hangover is going to go a while into the month. Of what month we are, november. I think we will celebrate for a while. At least until south africa, siya kolisi, and then do that he was around the city. We will be celebrating for a while. It hasnt sunkin celebrating for a while. It hasnt sunk in that we are World Champions for a third time. Once we see the trophy it will be that it belongs to us. Trophy it will be that it belongs to us. If english people in the united kingdom, they probably should feel bruised and disappointed after what happened, and some of them probably do, but when you look at the reaction of the players, of the captain, of course, and what it means in south africa, its hard not to feel pleased and also optimistic for what this might mean for your country. Because that was very much at the forefront of what siya kolisi said yesterday, wasnt it . Definitely. I think that post press, the post win press conference, hit the post win press conference, hit the nail on the head when he said that playing rugby shouldnt be a pressure because of the things going on in the country. Playing rugby and winning rugby is a privilege and what they want to do is bring hope to the young kids in south africa. Siya kolisi says he was the kids of south africa to look up to him and say if he is able to do it then so can i. Siya kolisis story is well documented. He grew up very poor. His very first trial to get the contract his very first trial to get the co ntra ct to his very first trial to get the contract to send him to a private school that is predominantly a rugby centre in south africa, he was wearing the wrong sorts. One of our collea g u es wearing the wrong sorts. One of our colleagues was saying that his story is quite unique. Id disagree with that. This story is similar to a lot of kids in south africa. That is exactly how we grew up. In poverty stricken townships in south africa. What they have done now is we understand that theres a lot of division the country right now, but if you look at us, we look different, we speak differently, come from different backgrounds but we have one common goal, and if we can do that it can inspire the nation to look towards one thing. Im old enough to remember 1995. And obviously hollywood turned it into a film, when Nelson Mandela, the countrys first black president , added the webb ellis trophy over on the pitch in south africa after a home world cup. That seemed to just incredible. The story of the rainbow nation and Everything Else. And yet now they are saying this is bigger, because this is a black captain who has led a team with several black players to the top. What do you think . I definitely think it is on the same scale. When you look in 1995, and where we are in 2019, you look at siya kolisi and the players around him, how they have been vocal about how they understand the enormity of what they have achieved and what they were hoping to achieve prior to this final. People are quite aware of what is going on in the country. We are in a time we now they can talk about these things and say segregation in south africa is a real thing and it is up to everyone who has a platform to do something about it. Whereas in 1995 it almost look like it was up to Nelson Mandela to do something about it and eve ryo ne mandela to do something about it and everyone took direction from him. Now it is everyone standing up together and say, you know what, we have got this platform, to do something about it, lets inspire and hoe back to the black child in south africa who, perhaps prior to think someone like siya kolisi, who looks like him, seeing that rugby loss of the white man in the country. And now they are looking at it and saying rugby is most want to, islay playing this game. And seeing someone islay playing this game. And seeing someone who looks like mia can go as far as they possibly can. We are grateful to you talking to us. They hope you enjoy the celebrations when the team come back. Kate nokwe, a sports journalist live in johannesburg for us this morning. Interesting when she was talking their comedy pictures of the players. And that one with bafta clerc in his underpants. He plays his rugby not far from where we are pfaff to clerc. His rugby not far from where we are pfaff to clerc. The inspiration. And the gutting of england at the same time. More of that to come later. A bit of sparkle returned to our screens last night as the remaining nine couples in this years strictly come dancing waltzed their way into week seven of the competition. Theyve reached the half way point, but it hasnt been a week free from drama after injury affected both the celebrities and professional dancers. Lets take a look back at how the episode unfolded. Applause we are so sorry that you wont be able to dance again this series. You must be so disappointed. able to dance again this series. You must be so disappointed. I am so gutted. You are injured, so once again kevin has stepped into partner you. Funny, crazy, wonderful nine ten ten totally stunning. It is brilliant, isnt it . They are all good, but you can see them getting better, that wholejourney they talk about. Our very own mike performed a cheeky charleston last night to secure his second highest mark of the series so far. Well be chatting to him tomorrow morning, to hear all about his strictly weekend. And i was going to do something about dancing with stav, but i dont think that is going to work. We will probably stick to talking about wind gusts. Yesterday was pretty impressive, gusts of 60 or 70 mph across much of the south coast, 83 mph recorded in plymouth. That is at the weather station, pretty impressive. It is a very isolated location, but still in extremely impressive nonetheless. Breezy across northern and eastern scotland where there will be some rain at times. But this is actually yesterdays low pressure which is sitting on top of us in continuing to weaken. But we do have more waiting out in the west, which will bring further breezy, showery conditions through tonight and into tomorrow. So breezy today across northern and eastern scotland and outbreaks of rain. We have a a few clear spells to start across northern and central areas, a bit of mist and fog around. A lot of dry weather as well. We have some rain putting across southern england into the midlands, Eastern England through the day. But again, sunshine will be peeking out through the clouds now and again, and generally those winds later. These are average wind speeds. Notice 15 mph or so across the south west. It will be turning breezy here later in the day. Temperatures 10 13, maybe 14 degrees. With a lighter wind than if you catch some sunshine it wont feel that bad. This evening and tonight it starts to turn breezy and more showery across more central and southern parts of england and wales. In the meantime, it stays wet and breezy across eastern scotland. Rainfall totals beginning to mount up rainfall totals beginning to mount up here. In between, there will be some clearer, slightly cooler spots. I think for most, generally 5 8d. Our next area of low pressure sitting on top of us on monday. Windy and wet across the north of the country. Quite easy again across the country. Quite easy again across the channel and southern parts of england. So windy here through the day. Showers, some of them turning out to be heavy, maybe even thundery in places. The drier slot through central areas, in the centre of that area of low pressure. Wet and breezy for eastern scotland and western scotla nd for eastern scotland and western scotland probably faring best with the drier and brighter weather. On tuesday we start to see the winds switched to a northerly as the area of low pressure clears away. So there will be some sunshine, one or two showers there will be some sunshine, one or two s howe rs a cross there will be some sunshine, one or two showers across the east, but you will notice temperatures dropping back into single figures across the north. 11 or 12 in the south. The blue colours extending southwards across the country through wednesday, so it will be turning chillier. But we are looking at the west again forfurther chillier. But we are looking at the west again for further low pressure systems, which could bring some rain around the middle and latter part of the week. Many places seeing those temperatures in single figures for mid week onwards. Thank you very much, more from you later. Now its time for click, with lara lewington. Taiwan. An island shaped like a leaf at the Meeting Point of four seas. Between the 1960s and the 1990s, taiwan underwent massive industrialisation in what has become known as the taiwan miracle. Huge tech firms grew, becoming household names asus, htc, acer. At the centre of this was the semiconductor industry, led by a company you have probably never heard of tsmc. It is the one of the Largest Semiconductor manufacturers in the world, producing the chips inside some of the best phones, including the iphone11. It is most likely if you have a smartphone, you have something made by tsmc. And these chips were only made possible thanks to the discovery of semiconductors. Why are Semiconductors Important or interesting . Because it changes your life. With factories, or fabs as they are known across the globe, the largest is here in taiwan. And we have been granted exclusive access to see just how those chips that form the heart of our Electronic Devices are created. But before we could go into the fab, there was quite a process to undergo. I have to take my shoes off on the carpet. And that was just the start. I had to put on a hairnet, wash my hands, and wear this to keep the dust out. Cute. But it is time for an air shower. Weird. I feel like im in the tumble dryer. The manufacture of wafers has to be extremely precise. They cannot tolerate any particles that may fall onto the wafer and damage the chips. So finally, we were allowed in the factory and there was a good reason for all that faff. The speed of these chips relies on how many transistors you can cram into a tiny space. And when i am talking tiny, i am talking nanometres. So even specks of dust would matter. I dont really know how to describe how fine that 5 nanometre or 7 nanometre is, but i think people very often say if you look at 28 nanometres, it was like 1000th the diameter of a human hair. In this fully automated factory, the lights are kept yellow to protect the product, and the machinery is moving all around. But there are quite a few things in here were not allowed to film because this is seriously cutting edge technology, so it needs to remain pretty secret. We have to protect our customers information. And so basically, we do not allow cameras to freely roam inside ourfabs because inevitably, they may pick up customer information. Between all the automated devices in this facility, they travel 400,000 kilometres a day. To put that into context, that is ten times around earth. All of this is about the concept of keeping up with moores law, as predicted by intel engineer gordon moore in the 60s. It refers to the doubling of transistors on a chip every two years, whilst the cost is halved. A concept increasingly hard to keep up with, despite us expecting a lot more from our ever connected lives. The next driver is what we call ubiquitous computing. It is computation everywhere at any time. All the devices are connected. Billions and billions of etched devices that are smart, that can compute at any time, and communicate and link and that will be the future enabled by semiconductors. Welcome to the week in tech. It was the week that a device dispatched by samsung to send selfies to space came back to earth with a thud, crash landing in a back garden in michigan, usa. Thankfully, nobody was injured. On a slightly safer note, the korean tech giant has teased a flip phone how very early naughties of them with a foldable screen. Lets hope this ones more successful than its last attempt at a folding phone. Twitter has banned all political advertising worldwide on its platform, saying that the reach of such messages should be earned, not bought. The move puts pressure on rival social media outfit facebook, which recently ruled out banning political ads. In other facebook news, the social network has agreed to pay a £500,000 fine issued by the uk Data Protection watchdog over the Cambridge Analytica scandal, ending a years worth of legal wrangling over the issue. As part of the agreement, facebook has made no admission of liability. Facebook subsidiary whatsapp is suing the ns0 group, an israeli surveillance company, alleging it created various whatsapp accounts and caused malicious code to be transmitted by its servers to roughly 1,400 mobile devices for the purposes of spying. The nso group said it disputed the allegations and would vigorously fight them. And finally, an American Company has developed a pair of smart glasses designed to improve concentration and prevent distraction. Narbis claims sensors in the smart specs measure the wearers brain activity. If they decide the wearer is not playing attention, the glasses darken, preventing them from seeing the distraction. The glasses will cost 690 when they launch in december. We have come out in Central London to try three of the latest smartphone cameras to see how they cope with low light. The huawei mate 30 pro, iphone 11 pro and google pixel 4 all boast that they take impressive shots at night, but will any leave the competition in the dark . I will also take some photos with the iphone 7 plus from 2016, to give us an idea of how much phone cameras have improved. My first stop is this bridge in london. Were gonna capture a cityscape at night, starting with huawei mate 30 pro. And huawei says its phone takes really good pictures at night because the camera sensor in here is 125 bigger than the one in the iphone 11 pro max, so it lets in more light. So, how did they stack up . All three of the new phones took sharp, bright photos of the skyline at night. The mate 30 pro picture looked slightly more crisp, but the colours were less saturated. The iphone 11 pro photo seemed more vibrant, but not quite as sharp, while the pixel 4 seemed to have a nicer colour balance with a blue ish sky, rather than the orange tint that we saw in the others. But, for me, there was no clear winner here. All of them took nice photos. So my next stop is the embankment. Ive come to have my picture taken with the london eye, and ive got soila here using the google pixel 4 first. Google says its special sauce is computational photography. So its going to take a string of photos and stitch them all together and use Machine Learning to clean up any noise or artefacts, so i have to hold still. All three of the new phones took a brighter photo than the old iphone 7 plus. Once again, the mate 30 pro seemed to take the sharpest photo. If you look at my face, its in focus, and it also picked out a lot of detail on myjumper. The pixel 4 photo was pretty sharp, too, and i felt the colour balance was more flattering. Id be probably happy to post this one on my instagram. But in this location, i think the iphone 11 pro struggled. It didnt pick out much detail in myjumper and the coloursjust looked weird, no matter how many times we took the shot. When apple introduced the iphone 11 pro, it said it would be better at taking photos in dimly lit bars, and it does not get more dim than this this is gordons wine bar in london, mainly lit by candles, so lets see how the phones manage. And the difference with the iphone 11 pro is that i dont have to activate night mode. It does that automatically when it detects its dark. And it is telling me to hold still while it stitches together several photos, just like the pixel 4, though apple calls this deep fusion. All three new phones took a picture that would not have been possible on a phone a few years ago. Just like the previous shots, the mate 30 pro photo came out brighter overall, and sharper. And its hard to believe this was taken in candlelight. Once again, the pixel 4 had a more flattering colour balance and there was less detail on the iphone 11 pro shot, which you can see if you zoom in on soilas hair. So this might be the biggest challenge for the phones yet. Were in stjames park. Its very dark, theres no lights here, so will the cameras be able to pick up any photos at all, and will we get robbed for waving around a few grand worth of cameras . Lets find out. Thats looks just like its daytime the fact that any of these phones took a clear shot in near darkness is impressive. If you zoom in, you can tell that none of them are crystal clear, but thats probably not the point here. The new phones all took snaps in the dead of night that look like they were taken during the day. Its pretty impressive how much phone cameras have improved injust a few years, thanks to new hardware and a lot of heavy lifting by the software. Now, i found some of those night mode shots for me looked a little bit artificial and, in some cases, the phones took, in my opinion, nicer shotsjust in the regular camera mode. The real test was that near darkness shot taken in stjames park. That was truly impressive. But i wonder how useful that will be for a majority of people, and whether people will really want to take lots of pictures in near complete darkness remains to be seen. Thats it for the short version of click. The full length programme can be found on the bbc iplayer. Throughout the week, you can keep track of the team on facebook, instagram and twitter at bbcclick, as usual. Thanks for watching. Good morning. Welcome to breakfast with Babita Sharma and rogerjohnson. Our headlines today ahead of the first full week of the Election Campaign, labour and the conservatives make big spending pledges. The Vietnamese Community comes together for a vigil for the 39 people found dead in a lorry in essex. Airbnb promises to crackdown on party houses after five people are shot dead in the united states. Lewis hamilton edges ever closer to another racing landmark. Hes on course to win his sixth formula 1 world title at the us grand prix later today. A very good morning to you. It was a very wild yesterday for some of us, heavy rain, very strong winds, particularly along the south coast of the country. But today part two of the weekend is looking much better. We will see lighter winds, some sunshine, but some showers and the forecast. I will have all the details later on. Good morning. Its sunday, november 3. Our top story as the general Election Campaign gets into full swing, labour and the conservatives are making big spending pledges. Borisjohnson has promised to end the benefits freeze in place since 2016, whileJeremy Corbyn is proposing to insulate almost every home in the uk, which labour say will create hundreds of thousands ofjobs. Lets speak to our political correspondent, jessica parker, whos in our london newsroom. Jessica, good morning to you. Spending pledges, not the first we will hear during this campaign. Anything else we should be looking out for in the days ahead . Yes. I think you are right. Over the coming weeks ahead of the december 12 the pole we could be hearing more of this kind of thing. As you imagine, the government pledging to find and if it increases as part of a £5 billion package, increases to working age difference by 1. 7 , in line with inflation, things like universal credit, jobseekers allowa nce. Universal credit, jobseekers allowance. This would kick in from april next year, when the benefits freeze was due to end anyway. And labourtiming of freeze was due to end anyway. And labour timing of this announcement is rather cynical, head of the december election poll. In pointing out that the freeze will still remain in place for a number of months. Labour is bringing in its own spending pledges as well. A major Home Improvements programme, including £60 million worth of Energy Saving upgrades for households, things like loft insulation, enhanced Double Glazing, alterg ott insulation, enhanced Double Glazing, altergott energy use. The conservatives say the plans do not stack up. In the last couple of campaigns we have seen Election Campaigns we have seen Election Campaigns have become a feature of general elections, which they wont before, before 2010. There has been a bit ofa before, before 2010. There has been a bit of a kerfuffle over this itv debate and the lib dems not being happy at what is proposed. Yes. They can happy at what is proposed. Yes. They ca n ofte n happy at what is proposed. Yes. They can often be a kerfuffle surrounding election tv debates, who should take part, what kind of format should they be in . Willa chicken and a following around a party leader who was refusing to take part . The lib dems are very keen to take part in an itv debate announced for the 19th of november that is due to take place, a head to head betweenJeremy Corbyn and Boris Johnson. Place, a head to head betweenJeremy Corbyn and borisjohnson. The lib dems have lodged a formal complaint. They say a head to had would not reflect the current political reality. Itv says it has plans for a multi party debate. Not only of the lib dems not happy, the snp are not happy either. They say this debate will be deeply misleading for audiences. Expect the debates around the debates. We will have a look at this later on. Members of the Vietnamese Community have gathered in london for a vigil in memory of the 39 people found in a lorry in essex. A service last night was attended by more than a hundred people and more are expected to pay their respects at another memorial today, as Richard Lister reports. This congregation feels the migrants deaths more keenly than most. More than 15,000 londoners were born in vietnam, forming the largest Vietnamese Community in britain. Some gathered at this East End Church last night to commemorate their countrymen who died trying to reach the uk. Our sympathy to the people who have lost their live on the way for the seeking of freedom, of dignity and happiness. And we ask god to welcome them into his kingdom. People here have been following news of the investigation closely. Essex police are slowly identifying the victims and there are families in this congregation who have told father simon that they too may have relatives among the dead. I think the more information that we get, you know, the quicker the investigation could become. So i encourage them if you could, you know, provide. And so far about eight families have come forward to give me information and i have passed on to essex police. Footage has most of the lorry shortly before its terrible cargo was revealed. Vietnam has called for closer International Cooperation to combat migrant smugglers and human trafficking. Police believe that trailer may have been rented by ronan hughes, on the left. Theyre still searching for him and his younger brother, chris. It may be some time before we know the names and stories of all those who died, but this congregation is keeping them in their prayer. And there will be another service for them this afternoon. Richard lister, bbc news. A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a car drove into a pub in essex. Police said a man in his 40s died when the vehicle hit the spinnaker inn in colchester in the early hours of this morning. Three other people have been taken to hospital one with life changing injuries. Airbnb, which allows people to rent property online, says its banning bookings for so called party houses. It follows the death of five people in a shooting in San Francisco on halloween night. Heres our north america correspondent chris buckler. Parties have been a big issue for the company for a long time, but what has led them to act was a party thrown at a home in orinda, which is an affluent suburb in San Francisco last week. Now a woman rented that house, claiming she wanted to find a place to allow her asthmatic family to escape from the smoke from the california wildfires. In fact, she threw a Halloween Party in which 100 people turned up and it descended into violence. In which there were shootings and five people died in their 20s and late teens. Now, airbnb has said thats completely unacceptable and they say they are going to put in place new policies that will ban party houses. Now that might prove difficult to do, but brian chesky, who is the co founder and chief executive officer of airbnb as set out a number of things that they are going to do. He says they are going to create a dedicated party has Rapid Response team and that they are going to screen high risk reservations among other things. Hes pretty blunt in this post on twitter. He says we must do better and we will. You remember this story recovered on brea kfast last you remember this story recovered on breakfast last week on tuesday morning. A 300 year old violin, valued at £250,000, which was accidentally left on a train in london last week, has been safely returned to its owner. The instrument was handed over in a supermarket car park to its owner Stephen Morris after secret negotiations. The man whod taken the violin said hed made a mistake and apologised. Someone who saw the social media peel said he recognised the person and he could arrange for the return. That is what happened. We will be talking to stephen later in the programme. In a dramatic fashion. It is quite a way in which they got reunited. Stay with us for that. And well be talking to stephen at 8 40. It is nine minutes past seven. It looks set to be a big week in politics, as Party Leaders set out their pledges for next months general election. Isnt every week a big week in politics these days . So what can we expect from the first full week of campaigning . Joining us now from westminster is the deputy Political Editor of the daily mirror, ben glaze and Sherelle Jacobs from the telegraph. Good morning to both of you. Thanks for being with us this morning. The key question, what are we expecting as we are now going into the campaigning weeks ahead of the general election. Ben, iwill start with you. First of all, we kick off tomorrow, monday, in the commons, where mps will electjohn bercows replacement. So mps who are about to be leaving parliament, they will decide who will be the chairman of debates for the new parliament. Then on tuesday we are expecting the treasury to do an assessment of labours Spending Plans as they have been revealed so far. That has orally caused a bit of controversy. The argument is that the conservatives have asked the treasury to do this and that it is not right and proper for civil serva nts to not right and proper for Civil Servants to be basically doing the conservatives dirty work for them. The campaign proper will get under way on wednesday because parliament will dissolve tuesday night into wednesday morning. At one minute past midnight. That is when we can expect things to really ramp up and the campaign to get into full swing. It feels a slightly strange to be talking about business as usual for the new the next few days heading into the week. Sherelle, fear, looking at this, leaders of all parties will want to make this more than the brexit issue, but can they get away from that . I think that is more a case for the tories of can we keep the focus as much as possible on brexit, because i think they was the berthing of the bubble last week when people in the westminster circle really started to realise from the tory side that lets get brexit done so we can move on to other things and talk about spending on various aspects of welfare and Public Services bursting. It probably wont cut it on the campaign trail. There is an interesting poll out today which finds, by the sunday telegraph, that the tories are only ahead by eight points and they have a smaller voter share than theresa may had at this point. It will be interesting to watch to see the Campaign Launch for the tories this week, because the question is, can they come up with something which makes the case for conservatism, which they didnt do la st conservatism, which they didnt do last time, but also then captures the optimistic spirit of exit . Because if they dont do that then i think there are ripples of concern already that because Jeremy Corbyn is quite a strong campaigner, that labour could turn up the heat on the tories quite quickly and that polly could start to shrink, like you did la st could start to shrink, like you did last time. It is interesting, because a yougov survey, as he was seen because a yougov survey, as he was seen for the telegraph, the sunday times have found labour has gained six points between wednesday and friday of last week stop we are talking in very short term spans. But they also claim thatJeremy Corbyns party is now in 27 , 12 points behind the tories, with the lib dems slipping three points to just 16 . In that, lib dems slipping three points to just16 . In that, ben, would lib dems slipping three points to just 16 . In that, ben, would you status all to play for all that borisjohnson status all to play for all that Boris Johnson can, perhaps, status all to play for all that borisjohnson can, perhaps, breathe a sigh of relief going into this general election . They have already started to narrow comedy bowls. Jeremy corbyn had a good and do last week. When he lost labours campaign on thursday he was very rousing, there was a lot of enthusiasm. Jeremy corbyn is not a great commons performer, but he is great on the campaign trail. We saw that on 27 in 2017 with a huge labour surge. It is so much and laboured so much better than many people expected. I think we tories are very wary about that. Theresa may went into the general elect in 2017 with a 20 point lead and squandered it. Jeremy corbyn came right up behind her and, with a narrower lead going into it this time, i expect to see the polls narrow further in the run up december 12. What we shouldnt forget is that theresa may was a dreadful campaigner. Spent a lot of time with her in 2017 on election trail and she was awful. And they rana trail and she was awful. And they ran a very bad campaign. Boris johnson is a very good campaigner. So we have the leaders of the two main parties who like to get out there, talking to people, meeting there, talking to people, meeting the public, like doing these big set events and the public, like doing these big set events a nd stu nts, the public, like doing these big set events and stunts, that will help borisjohnson events and stunts, that will help Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn events and stunts, that will help borisjohnson and Jeremy Corbyn as we go down towards election day. As we go down towards election day. As we know, politics can be a dirty business. With that in my day wondering if either of you believe we will see an emergence of any particular alliances or pacts in the coming weeks. Sherelle, for you, who do you think will be the ones to watch that a siding with others . think that its increasingly clear that a pact between the brexit party and the tories will be very difficult. I think that there is a war theyre going on about who should be the ones to have a crack at some of these are seats in the labour heartland and that hasnt been rectified. It will be interesting to see whether on the remain side of things, on the left, whether there will be some kind of pa ct whether there will be some kind of pact making. You know we might see labour standing down in places like north devon, giving the lib dems a free run, and conversely may be the lib dems stepping down in some seats. It remains to be seen whether the lib dems and labour can come together and take advantage, frankly, of the fact that the tories have really gambled not having to do any pacts in order to win a majority, which is based on this idea that they can win a majority in the same way that David Cameron did in 2015 without having to do any kinds of deals with ukip at that time and with the brexit party. Ben, a final word from you. Well, i think the liberal democrats injuly, they persuaded other remain parties to stand aside and took the seat from the conservatives. But they only took it by 1400 votes. With everyone else standing aside, they should have been looking to take it by about 5000 votes, albeit it was a by election with lower turnout. Other parts of the country, in beaconsfield, they will stand aside for dominic grieve, the former tory remain supporter. To both of you, it promises to be a thrilling watch, if you like, over the next few weeks. For now, thank you. Here is stav with a look at this mornings weather. We saw that it was a good deal calmer in london than it was, but in the north of the country, certainly in the north of england, views like the one behind you are not uncommon. Thats right, roger. Good morning, babita. This is an image of a foggy field in wigan. Equally, there are some clear skies around and it is going to be a bit of a sunny morning for some of us. A better looking day, i think, for some of us. A better looking day, ithink, today. Less windy for some of us. A better looking day, i think, today. Less windy for many of us. We have lost those gales and we should see some sunshine. Some rain behind me, it is not going to be completely dry for all. This is the pressure chart, this is our area of low pressure yesterday, feeling and weakening. Still bringing breezy weather to the far north of scotland. You can see the isobars there. We also have some weather fronts bringing wet weather to eastern scotland and north east england through the day. An area of rain in south east england will spread its way across central and east, Eastern England but we should see sunshine in between. More showers following on behind across the far south west later in the day where the wind will pick up as well. Northern ireland and western faring best with the sunshine, thanks to the sheltered east north east wind direction. The winds will be picking up, like direction. The winds will be picking up, like i mentioned, in the south east. Average wind speeds as the next area of low pressure moves in. We would like to see some sunshine around today, 12 14 degrees wont feel too bad at all. As we head on into the night it stays pretty wet for eastern scotland, breezy in the north. Further showery bursts of rain pushing into england and wales through tonight, is that area of low pressure arrives. Some of it could be quite heavy in places, but with the breeze in the cloud, temperatures no lower than seven or eight for many. A few chilli spots where we have clear skies and shelter. Low pressure firmly in control to start the new working week. It will be windiest across the north and the far south, in central areas, in the middle of the low, the winds will be light. A few showers dotted around. There could be slow moving, may be heavy and thundery. It stays wet for northern and eastern scotland in particular. A little bit of sunshine in between. The best of the sunshine for western scotland. Temperatures into the low to mid teens celsius. Changes take place on tuesday, low pressure starting to clear away into the near continent. We start to draw in some northerly wind, a cold direction, especially this time of year. Temperatures dropping down into single digits. A few showers around on tuesday but also some sunshine. Blue colours extending southwards as we head on into wednesday. It will be turning chillier as we head through the latter part of the week, which is in single figures for many. Thank you very much, we will get more from you later. Wrap up warm. The Andrew Marr Show is on bbc one at 9 00am. Andrew, what is on todays programme . Well, if you are interested in the outcome of this winter general election, and you may be, you know that the brexit partys behaviour will be really important to Boris Johnsons chances of winning. The brexit party leader, nigel farage, joins me. If you are interested in what a Labour Government would mean for you, we are being joined by the shadow chancellor, john mcdonnell, and listening to it all is the chief executive of the treasury, a rising star in the tory party. I will be talking to that wonderful actress ruth wilson, so a busy hour for you at nine a. M. Technology and social media expert Dan Sodergren is here to tell us what has caught his eye in the papers. Great to see you, good morning. Where shall we start . Well, technology and Digital Marketing and all these kinds of things, but one of the things i really love is how education is using more and more technology. A lot of people start getting worried about this, but the great news that screens help boys close the gap on girls in reading. So all those boys who constantly have their noses in a screen, dont worry, mum and dad. Well, stop fretting around it. They are saying all reading is good reading, so encourage them to be doing this. As they say in the lovely story, it is more to do with the fact that there are more gamers and therefore maybe it is more appropriate to carry around a kindle than book. Lets look at the sunday express. You have chosen this one about online games and gambling. Talk us through that. Yes, so it is not always the Positive Side of it. Naming itself, of course, is a huge phenomenon, a £1 billion industry, but what they are saying here is, you will have heard about fifa and all these other things, things called loot boxes which they can get after purchasing the game, which can be a gateway into gambling. More importantly, the amount of money actually being spent on these loot boxes, because you dont know what you are going to get until you open it, which is a bit naughty of the gaming companies. I think they should be more highly regulated. They have done a study that 50 of the cost comes after you have bought the game, you spend on these loot boxes. If you are giving these loot boxes. If you are giving these as presents, just be aware that this might actually be just the start of the spending. that this might actually be just the start of the spending. I am astonished at the worth of the gaming industry. £20 billion across the world, £70 million alone here in the world, £70 million alone here in the uk. Absolutely, it is one of the biggest growing industries for the world, and for the uk as well. Looking at a sports, it is going to be massive a thing. You just have to be massive a thing. You just have to be careful with these loot boxes e sports. Be careful with these loot boxes esports. This is an environmental story in the sunday telegraph about doing our bit for climate change. Stunning picture there. Just about online stuff, we were talking about buying games as gifts, but this is talking about how you can buy trees as give as well, and how we have to plant more trees. I think this is a huge thing we have to get behind, and we can start thinking. The uk at the moment, i think it says here we are literally a third behind the european average of how many trees we have, so we have to start planting more of these things. So i am going to be buying a gift for my daughter, she is nine tomorrow, she might be gutted to have that as a gift, but we will buy her Something Else as well. What back happy birthday to her. I was going to say may be, because we have a few trees, because we have less land space . That is a good reason, but also a bit ofan that is a good reason, but also a bit of an excuse. There are corporate initiatives that can happen, wales is doing really good stuff with Different Countries around the world, uganda is doing pa rt around the world, uganda is doing part of it as well. It is a global movement, and i think we have to look at it. What may be smart is using the best trees you can do, and the oak is particularly strong and very british. And i was going to say, to your point, where you plant them is crucial. It is notjust about buying a tree for somebody else. It is about where you are going to put it. And how you can do the whole thing, i think that is what the Forestry Commission are talking about any article. In 45 seconds, talk to us about a story which is online in the guardian, which is online in the guardian, which we have actually reported about, about our b b. They are cracking down on parties and unofficial parties you can have airb b. They are using notjust the algorithm but also manual testing. To me, it is interesting, it is not just necessarily banning parties, but banning the guns at the parties, which i think is the reason for this horrible incident. It is much bigger thing. It would be interesting to see how the going to ban the parties as well, because one of the things you can do is stop people posting it on facebook and having these unofficial parties that suddenly hundreds of people turn up, and you have these horrible events happening. And there is that contribution of social media they are talking about now, and the debate continues as well. For now, thank you very much for that. We will have more from you little later on. We will be discussing more about that historic victory by south africa in the rugby as well. We are here on the bbc news channel until 9 00am this morning. But this is where we say goodbye to viewers on bbc one. Thank you for staying with us here on the bbc news channel. It is nice to have your company. You made the right choice, thank you. A former royal marine who suffered with post Traumatic Stress disorder afterfighting in afghanistan has been helping others in a similar position by running outdoor courses in the woods. Nick goldsmith bought woodland near his home as a place to escape to between his deployments. His retreat has now received the backing from a charity supported by Prince William and prince harry, as breakfastsjohn maguire reports. These are the woodland warriors. They have much in common a military or Emergency Services background, and a history of struggle. Nick and Louise Goldsmith bought this piece of woodland in somerset seven years ago, while nick was serving with the royal marines. The idea to give him somewhere to go between deployments fighting in afghanistan. So this land came up and we had to manage it, and we worked quite hard managing it for quite some time. And then it kind ofjust developed quite organically, really. They realised that what worked for nick could also help others a weekend in the woods learning witchcraft. Chilling out down here and trying to retain what was left of my marbles between tours. You know, eventually, when it was time to leave the armed forces, and i was told youre medically discharged, this is the end of your career. You feel like youre living again, you know, from having felt like youre standing still and numb. Helen barnett was the first female armed response officer in the metropolitan police. During her career, she was stabbed, shot, and blown up. Traumas shes been dealing with for 30 years. All of us here, to have done what we did at the careers weve followed, we were tough, robust individuals. And look how, you know, weve been floored by different traumas and things that have happened to us. And so, if it could happen to people like us, you know, all the people that are affected, you know, by other traumas. Were all only human, arent we . Absolutely. Trauma is trauma, and its about understanding that we are only human. Steve priday served the first gulf war, bosnia, and Northern Ireland. Sharing the story, that is a big part of the solution for a lot of people. Not necessarily giving them answers, because everyones situation is different, but actually sharing your experiences and saying and by doing so youre saying you are not alone. Ive gone through a similar situation and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Jimmy hartley was in the navy and now runs a website and podcast discussing mental health. You are going through treatment that youre embarrassed about or you dont talk about, there is that stigma attached to it. That isnt going to change overnight, and when youre around people that have been through similar things, you dont feel thatjudgement, and that gives you the confidence. The Woodland Warrior Programme has just received backing from the endeavour fund, a charity for ex Service Personnel supported by Princes William and harry. It will pay for 72 places. Therell be men and women with a shared history and with experiences in common, in an environment where they can be helped and they can help each other. John maguire, bbc news. A great idea and a worthwhile cause as well. Stay with us. Headlines coming up. Hello. This is breakfast with rogerjohnson and Babita Sharma. Good morning. Itv said it intends to offer viewers balanced election coverage. A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a car drove into a pub in essex. If you have ever tried baking cookies you may have been told they we re very cookies you may have been told they were very good, very nice, very tasty, maybe even out of this world, but not literally. They are about to bake some on the International Space station. An oven is being delivered to the International Space station for astronauts to bake chocolate chip cookies. Its its a good choice. Its all part of an experiment to test the impact of high heat and zero gravity on the shape and consistency of the biscuits. I bet they taste out of this world. Eye but they will taste good. If you can catch them. They will be floating around. John is here with the sport. Talk about Lewis Hamilton this morning. Not something he has done, but potentially something he will do later today. When you think that Lewis Hamilton is 34, Michael Schumacher won his record seventh title when he was 35, you could say Lewis Hamilton is on course. He is in good shape to do so today. We know we did not get any silverware yesterday at the Rugby World Cup Lewis Hamilton could deliver some today. The us grand prix takes place this evening and by the end of it he could be formula 1 World Champion for the sixth time. Nick parrott reports. A sixth formula one world title is almost in Lewis Hamiltons hands. Only Mercedes Teammate Valtteri Bottas can keep him waiting. But the finn has his work cut out because he must win in austin or its all over. Valtteri did a greatjob. So congratulations to him. It should be a fun day. Theres all the possibility still in the world. So thats it. Even if bottas wins, hamilton will become champion if he finishes eighth. It will see him move abovejuan Manuel Fangio show in the all time list. Next season he could equal Michael Schumachers seven titles and surpass his 91 race wins. And he already has more pole positions than anyone else. Already one of the greats, hamilton may go on to become the greatest of all. Nick parrott, bbc news. He will be in to something a little faster later on. The inquest continues over englands cricketers. We bring in matt dawson. He was part of five lows Commentary Team in yokohama yesterday. Great to speak to you. Almost 24 hours on, are we any closer to knowing where it went wrong for england yesterday . I think we have got to be a little bit more gentle on england rugby. They had a fantastic tournament. They got to the final and played against a team that we thought, we thought they simply cannot lose that game. After beating new zealand in the semi final it is therefore england to take. But i think we, the fans, the media, and maybe the players and the media, and maybe the players and the staff just underestimated the media, and maybe the players and the staffjust underestimated what it was meaning to south africa to be in that final. And, to be perfectly honest, not only did they win the physical battle, but the tactics that south africa deployed yesterday we re that south africa deployed yesterday were first class. They played brilliantly. 1 15, plus all of their bench. Might rally from what ive seen bench. Might rally from what ive seen of england players and managers, they know they were beaten bya managers, they know they were beaten by a better team. But hey im not sure there needs to be an inquest, really. Maybe Lessons Learned Going Forward. It is interesting to hear what eddiejones forward. It is interesting to hear what eddie jones had forward. It is interesting to hear what eddiejones had to say. He was fairly circumspect about the whole thing as well. He felt the preparations were good but he said they just didnt manage preparations were good but he said theyjust didnt manage to produce theyjust didnt manage to produce the goods on the day. As you say, partly down to what south africa managed to produce. Did england, as Warren Gatland suggested, peaked too soon Warren Gatland suggested, peaked too soon without incredible victory over zealand in the semifinals . soon without incredible victory over zealand in the semifinals . I suppose the results speak for themselves. England did speak against new zealand. Very difficult to replicate that kind of performance against a very different opposition in south africa for the final. I think tactically england, you did get some things wrong. And the way they attacked against south africa i think myself and paul grayson, doing the commentary on five live, we were a little bit surprised that maybe england were predictable at times, where if they had just gone to, if they had gone to certain areas of they had gone to certain areas of the field they had read on the day than they probably would have been a little bit more effect. It was a shame because the Leadership Team of england has been so good over the finals and semifinals, but under the immense pressure of the final, against a South African side who we re against a South African side who were so against a South African side who were so passionate and so strong and so were so passionate and so strong and so aggressive on that gain line, england couldnt get the momentum and those leaders couldnt position england to score enough points and score the tries. England lost the try count 2 0. They were probably well beaten in that regard as well. Just quickly, you have obviously beenin just quickly, you have obviously been in and around the england camp, what is the mood like there at the moment . And a word on those fantastic scenes for south africa, a very special moment in the history. A phenomenal after much presentation to see their captain and the South African president together, embracing, smiling, laughing, like children. And i mean that in the most respectful way. There was no economic or political worry or burden on their shoulders for that moment. It was a celebration. It was a united team and management and country combination. It was phenomenal to be a part of. Its going to be difficult for england. It will be a long four years to go to france in 2023. But a lot of those players are going to be ready in 2023 and they have scales. As martinjohnson sat on one of our podcast in the week, often it is the tea m podcast in the week, often it is the team with the most scars that know how to win these big wesser games. And, hopefully, england will bounce backin and, hopefully, england will bounce back in four years time. It has been fascinating to listen to your insights. Thank you forjoining us on breakfast. Matt dawson, the former world cup winner reflecting on the disappointment for england but also fantastic scenes for south africa following their victory yesterday. Englands cricketers came out on top in their World Cup Final in the summer, but lost the second match of their twenty20 series to new zealand overnight chasing a target of 177, england were three for two afterjust eight balls. Dawid malan their top scorer, with 39 as they lost by 21 runs. It means the five game series is now level at 1 1, the next match takes place in the early hours of tuesday morning. Late goals in the premier league yesterday for title rivals liverpool and Manchester City who both won. Liverpool taking on aston villa, were a goal down after trezeguet struck midway through the first half. Liverpool didnt equalise until the 87th minute through andy robertson. And then in the fifth minute of added time sadio mane won it. We played a bit too much here, but too much there. It was not really the right moment to finish it off. We didnt shoot from, like 18 20 yards, not really. We still try to pass the ball here and there. We had our moments but we are really not clear, not clinical enough. A mistake by Manchester City goalkeeper ederson handed southampton an early goal. James ward prowse wasnt missing that. But Sergio Aguero equalised and then defender kyle walker won it late on. So city remain six points behind leaders liverpool, the two play each other at anfield next sunday. What a match that will be. Chelsea manager Frank Lampard says the premier league is in a really dangerous place with var after they beat watford 2 1, Christian Pulisic with their second. His comments relate to this, a penalty which wasnt awarded by the referee, but was then overturned by var. He said theres no consistency to how its being used. Celtic are into the Scottish League cup final after beating hibs 5 2 at hampden park. Captain scott brown with two goals celtic face the winners of todays other semi final between rangers and hearts. In the scottish premiership yesterday, there were wins for aberdeen and motherwell. The former wba lightweight champion did seem overwhelmed at times during the opening rounds, but did enough to win a majority decision. Rory mcilroy is playing Xander Schauffele in a play off at the world Golf Championship in shanghai. Mcilroy was the overnight leader in china, ahead of schauffele and Louis Oosthuizen after three rounds of 67. Both players finished the final round on 19 under par the american making a birdie on the 18th to force the extra holes. And great britains hockey teams are a step close to playing at next summers Tokyo Olympics with victories in the first legs of their qualifying play offs. The women the defending olympic champions beat chile 3 0 at lee valley in london. While the men came from a goal down to beat malaysia 4 1. The second legs of both matches take place later today. More nervy for irelands women though they need to win their second leg with canada after the first one finished 0 0. A lot of the hard work is done. But you have to get over the line and they will want to do that with the second leg is to come. Absolutely. You know these images behind. This isa you know these images behind. This is a representation of the view out of our window, which you probably realise. Not that one. Just have a quick look, if we can, at the live view outside our window this morning. Look at that the fog is so thick. There is a view somewhere. Not like the sunny images we have. It is dreadful, isnt it . Not like the sunny images we have. It is dreadful, isnt it . What can we see . What should we be seeing . A building. There is a cobweb, apparently. A spider. Just enjoy the beautiful views on the screen stop a sign of things to come. Good morning to you both. There are some weather watchers picture still coming in, this is the best one i could find at the moment although it doesnt beat the moment although it doesnt beat the one at Salford Quays. Fog around cheshire, lancashire, manchester. It stretches down into parts of lincolnshire as well. Elsewhere, starting off with a lovely morning with some spells of sunshine around. Todayis with some spells of sunshine around. Today is looking much better once we lose the mist and fog. It should tend to clear quickly over the next couple of hours and then we should see some sunshine. It will be less windy as well. This is the low pressure which brought the windy weather yesterday. It is filling and weakening. Still quite breezy across northern scotland but lighter winds further south and we have more low pressure moving in towards the day and overnight. There is quite a mixture of weather going on. We have that mist and fog through central parts of the uk. Outbreaks of rain, breezy across northern and eastern scotland. Some showers elsewhere, patchy rain moving moving from west to east across england and wales. But you can see big gaps in between. That indicates a lot of dry weather with some sunshine this afternoon and generally the winds will be light. These are mean wind speeds. Breezy across northern scotland and starting to turn breezy across the southwest ahead of this next area of low pressure. Temperatures 11 14 degrees. When you get the sunshine, with a lighter winds that shouldnt feel too bad. The best of the sunshine should be across sheltered western scotland, sheltered from that easterly wind. It turns wetter and breezy across the south of the country has low pressure begins to move back in. Plenty of showers, some of them could turn out to be quite heavy during the night. Temperatures no lower, generally, than about seven or eight degrees here. A few chilli spots under clear skies further north. Breezy and wet for eastern scotland. Low pressure pretty much on top of the uk on monday. It stays breezy and wet across eastern scotland with that strong easterly wind. Rainfall totals really mounting up, and also into the far north east of england. To the south, it is westerly winds which will be quite strong again through the channel across the south and south west coast. Plenty of showers here, some of them heavy, may be thundery. In between, there will be some sunshine. Temperatures into the low to mid teens celsius. Starting to see the some subtle changes. It takes the showers with it as low pressure clears away. Increasing amounts of sunshine but northerly winds getting to set in. Temperatures struggling on tuesday. Single figures in the north, just about double figures in the south. You can see the blue colours extending southwards across the middle part of the week. Looking to the west, further cool air but also areas of low pressure. Quite a mishmash through wednesday towards friday. Staying pretty chilly for most places, but they will also be outbreaks of rain. Some of it will be heavy and persistent in places. That is how it is looking. Back to that is how it is looking. Back to you two. Nice to know there is a bright start in some parts of the country this morning. Before 9am, when we say goodbye, we will review strictly. It was a great night last night. In week seven, things are really hotting up. But i really enjoyed the show, and i have to say, i think enjoyed the show, and i have to say, ithink mike enjoyed the show, and i have to say, i think mike did very well. We are going to talk to the chap who left this £250,000 violin on a train in london last week. Broke out in more than a cold sweat, i am sure, when he realised. He has been reunited with it, and something that wouldnt be out of place in a novel. We will tell you exactly what happened. Stay with us for that as well. Now its time for the travel show. In North Western saudi arabia, 1,000 km from riyadh, lies the hidden desert city of hegra. Youd be right in thinking it looks similar to petra injordan. A cultured civilisation of traders known as nabateans who built that, also built this as their second city over 2,000 years ago. The difference is that thses sites are relatively unknown. Stunningly preserved and unscathed by years of tourism. Hegra sits in the vast governate of al ula. Ive gotta say, im blown away. This is an epic landscape, they say it is nearly the size of belgium while saudis International Reputation is being questioned right now, billions of dollars are being spent on the whole area, appearing it to welcome tourists as part of the countrys 2030 plan to shift saudi arabias economy away from Oil Dependency to other sectors, such as tourism. And this is one of their star attractions that they are hoping will draw in the crowds. Its brilliant, and you cant believe that it was done thousands of years ago. Whilst hegra has unesco World Heritage status, it has remained a largely Hidden Treasure to the rest of the world until now. By october 2020, the saudi government hopes to have the site fully open and accessible to tourists. So, the nabateans they survived, they thrived actually, why . Do you know what it means, nabatean . No. Nabateans means in arabic, a verb which means in english they were discovering the water. So they had a very smart way to discover the water. One of those ways, you can see how they carved from the top of that mountain to that well so when its raining, the water gets down to that well. Through those channels. Yes. And to that . Yes. Thats incredible. So it literally cascades into there . Yeah, and this. Archaeologists have so far found 150 wells like this in this area. Wow, it is quite big. But really, its the tombs that have the wow factor. Its certainly very cool down here. This inscription says this tomb belonged to the leader and his wife. In contrast to jordans petra, the wonder of these tombs lies in the information that researchers have gathered from the text on these stone inscriptions. The occupations, they had a teacher, they had a doctor, so that gives a real example of the civilisation. They live a normal life as we live today. They carved from the top to the bottom. You can see the decoration here so they have steps also. Nabateans believed when they passed away they get back to their god. So they have five steps on the right and on the left. I remember when i was a child, we came here with the family and we see these tombs. At that time, there wasnt any information about it. So we used the tomb for playing hide and seek. What does it mean to you, the nabatean culture . Ok, it means to me that my city has a lot of history, if you compare yourself with other countries where they are really proud with their civilisation. So we believe al ula deserves to present and offer this for people. For the longest time, the area had been largely closed off to archaeologists due to politics, religion and its remoteness. To go into an archaeological world thats never really been examined or touched before, to me isjust a remarkable opportunity. And ifeel genuinely excited every time i walk out onto the site. Is there a buzz when you find something in particular . There always is. I wouldnt be doing this ive been doing it for a very, very long time if i didnt still get that buzz. And jamie believes there are still yet thousands more sites to discover. Be the first to witness a land of fascinating journeys. As part of the big push to change its image to the outside world, the saudi government has released a series of pr campaigns. As well as relaxing certain laws, for instance, on Womens Clothing and on unmarried tourists sharing hotel bedrooms. And they have since launched a new e visa scheme, open to 49 countries, allowing travellers to stay for up to 90 days. Though looking on social media, it seems like there is still a way to go to convince people to visit. Weve had a lot of social media messages from our audience who are expressing a lot of concern about the human rights condition here, and the conditions for women, female travellers here. How can you reassure them about that . This is a bit of a challenge but saudi arabia has significant history, historical presence, nature and culture, it is again one of our main assets to saudi arabia. We believe that once you are here in saudi arabia, dealing with its people and you will feel the hospitality of the locals and saudis. We have in petra a comparable site. A footfall of 400,000 visits a year. Its going through a big problem in terms of pollution, in terms of over tourism, really. You want 2 million visits a year here. Arent you worried about the effects on this beautiful landscape . Two million might seem a big number, however given the size of al ula being 22,000 Square Kilometres which is almost the size of belgium and again developing the region, in a responsible and sustainable manner is one of our key objectives. Were avoiding mass tourists, so thats is not going to be an issue. I reckon that changing Public Perception will be the governments biggest challenge, because of its human rights record, equality issues for women and the countrys involvement in the ongoing war in yemen. You could argue that the shift to tourism and the need to attract more International Visitors may be the trigger to bring genuine reform to saudi arabia. Or this could just be a charm offensive. But theres no denying this place has some of the greatest and most unspoiled historical remnants in the world, which you can now experience first hand. So youve landed after hours in the air, youre dragging your suitcase across town, youre exhausted, youre a little frustrated and youve got a busy trip ahead. So youre feeling far from your best. Well, sit back and relax because this week, weve got three gadgets designed to help you take care of yourself on the road. First up, we have my skin track uv. This tiny sensor clips onto your collar or bag strap and monitors your exposure to sunlight. It connects to an app and tracks your location to give you real time information on pollen count, pollution and humidity. The app then recommends skin regimens based on your skin tone and those environmental factors. The sensor itself is fairly unobtrusive, its light and batteryless and that clip is nice and sturdy. Today, the sun is trying to poke its head out from behind the clouds, so lets give it a go and see how it works. The app is telling me the uv index is a moderate level so there is a very small risk of getting sunburned today, which is something that i definitely wouldnt have predicted, given the overcast state of the day. Its also worth bearing in mind this has been released by a skincare brand so no surprises its recommending its own skincare products which does give the whole thing a little bit of an advertorial vibe. But the bottom line is we should all be more aware of the harmful effects that uv has on our skin, and the sensor can certainly help make you a little bit more conscious about it. Youve made it to your hotel room with just enough time to freshen up. Coming in a rather sleek travel case, the genius x electric toothbrush claims to be one of the worlds smartest toothbrushes. Complete with al brushing recognition. I know, a toothbrush with Artificial Intelligence. What exactly does that mean . In this case, a has been used to analyse thousands of different kinds of toothbrushing techniques. That information has been used to give you feedback on the way you brush your teeth. So we are now in the coaching part of the app. Apparently i have got a brushing score of 1 , which is pretty poor i promise i can brush my teeth properly. I was brushing on camera. That is my excuse and im sticking to it. So, im not sure how i feel about this thing. That was a pretty harsh critique of my technique. What it did do was make me want to go back and try again and do better, which i did. I got a much better score. So it kind of gamifies the toothbrushing process, which i think is fun. The fact that last two weeks on a single charge means it is a brilliant though slightly expensive way to look your gnashers on your travels. Nothing is worse than feeling run down when you arrive at any destination, but sometimes when you travel on your own, you need an objective opinion to tell you how you really look. The hi mirror slide is a smart mirror with a built in camera. It can analyse your face and give you feedback on the condition of your skin before giving you tips and product recommendations. A normal mirror at the front flanked by ridiculously bright lights. Slab open. All right, it has just taken my photo. A few areas of analysis. Pores, red spots, dark spots, wrinkles. This is definitely not for those who offend easily. Im not sure how i feel about being subjected to quite brutal cosmeticjudgment. Designed to be portable but it is pretty big for a travel mirror so you might not want to take up space in your suitcase. And while it is a nice idea in theory its critical and quite clinical in assessment of your facial flaws which is definitely not for everybody. Good morning, welcome to breakfast with Babita Sharma and rogerjohnson. Our headlines today. Ahead of the first full week of the Election Campaign, labour and the conservatives make big spending pledges. The Vietnamese Community comes togetherfor a vigil for the 39 people found dead in a lorry in essex. Aianb promises to crackdown on party houses after five people are shot dead in the united states. Lewis hamilton edges ever closer to another racing landmark. Hes on course to win his sixth formula one world title at the us grand prix later today. How a lost violin worth a quarter of a Million Pounds was reunited with its owner hell be here to tell us the full story. Good morning, it was a very wild day yesterday. Heavy rain and strong whence, particularly along the south coast of the country. Today, part two of the weekend is looking much better. We see light wins, some sunshine but still some showers in the forecast. All of the details later in the programme. Its sunday the 3rd of november. Our top story. As the general Election Campaign gets into full swing, labour and the conservatives are making big spending pledges. Borisjohnson has confirmed the end of the benefits freeze in place since 2016, whileJeremy Corbyn is proposing to insulate almost every home in the uk, which labour say will create hundreds of thousands of jobs. Lets speak to our political correspondent, jessica parker, whos in our london newsroom. Of course, we are looking ahead to the full week. The first full week of campaigning, but first, what are these big spending pledges that both parties are making . Yes, the conservative party and the government announcing today that the benefits phrase is going to end as of april next year. It had been scheduled to end anyway so it was confirmation of that plan. 1. 7 rise for working age benefits, things like universal credit and jobseekers allowance. Kicking in from april next year. Perhaps the plan for the tory party here would be to counterclaims that they are the party of austerity. Labour not particularly impressed by the announcement today, they point out that phrase will continue for a number of months. They think it is something of a cynical election ploy. Labour coming up with an announcement, a major home investment programme, £60 billion of Energy Saving upgrades for low income houses included, things like loft insulation, Double Glazing to cut Carbon Emissions and energy use. The conservatives say the plans dont stack up but its interesting after the announcement regarding fracking back yesterday, that voters feel like Environmental Issues are important. How important will it be to get away from the elephant in the room, the brexit debate, when they are looking at these individual pledges . I think both parties will plan on addressing the brexit debate. The expectation is that the labour party will be keen to talk about other issues like austerity because they want to talk about their plans for investment in Public Services. Its interesting, the benefits phrase announcement coming to an end. The conservative party keen to tackle the austerity argument head on but brexit will come up time and again. I think what you will hear from the conservative party, they will argue that they have an oven ready deal, ready to go. They should be able to win a majority that the labour policy on brexit, they will get a new and better deal and put that to another referendum in a few months. They will have a special conference to decide which way they will campaign. Brexit will be a major feature of the campaign but as with 2017, you never can predict to what extent it will be. Theres a tv Election Debate later. Why has it become so controversial for the liberal democrats . And its an itv Election Debate, a head to head between Jeremy Corbyn and borisjohnson, the liberal democrats are not happy about it at all. Theyve launched a formal complaint. Itv say they will do balanced coverage throughout and plan a multiparty debate. Its not surprising that the liberal democrats arent happy, the snp are not happy either. They think it will be misleading. Before or in the to any electoral event, you will find that there is a debate on television, who takes part and what format they go in, i would expect that to continue. Jessica parker, thank you. Airbnb which allows people to rent property online says its banning bookings for so called party houses. Now that might prove difficult to do, but brian chesky, who is the co founder and chief executive officer of airbnb has set out a number of things that they are going to do. He says theyre going to create a dedicated party has Rapid Response team and that theyre going to screen high risk reservations among other things. Hes pretty blunt in this post on twitter. He says we must do better and we will. Chris buckler reporting for us from america. Week seven of strictly come dancing waltzed onto our screens last night, as the nine remaining couples took to the floor. Did you watch it . I didnt, but im looking forward to catching up with it later. There were high kicks and nifty tricks, but it wasnt an easy week for paralympian will bayley, who was forced to pull out of the competition due to injury. Our very own mike bushell had a good show though, with his cheeky charelston securing his second highest score of the series so far. That is your second highest score, your second highest score. Well done. Didnt he do well, like Bruce Forsyth good luck, we are keeping everything crossed for him. Last year, model and reality tv star, katie price, told mps of the horrific social media abuse targeted at her son harvey, who has disabilities. Since then, 200,000 people have signed a petition to make online abuse a criminal offence. The government has until tomorrow to respond to recommendations on how to tackle abuse people with disabilities, receive online. Were joined now by actor and presenter adam pearson. Good morning. Talk us through the experiences that you have had online . So, i get a lot of abuse on my condition and my appearance, ive had expletives peppered into really drive the point home. That people are not fans of me or my work but i think it is important to highlight bad behaviour online, there is abuse and there is hate speech. I think there are Different Levels to this. I think it does need dealing with. Last time i checked, this kind of thing was already illegal under the Communications Act of 2003. And also under the socialjustice Communications Act of 2003. And also under the social justice act. Communications act of 2003. And also under the socialjustice act. And because you are saying there are Different Levels, would you draw up legislation to say that some things are illegal and other things are just acceptable but its hard to know where to draw the line . Completely, you can either go to far or not enough. One of the important things in this debate is to agree on terms, and if i write something silly on twitter and someone says, that was silly, that is not abuse, its a good point well made but if someone its a good point well made but if someone takes it that step further where they say you silly, disabled, swear words where words were, it crossed the line swear word swea rwo rd. Crossed the line swear word swearword. Its easy to be a victim and social media of this, and perpetrators of this abuse can target you . There is a level of anonymity that exists online but not in the real world. Before social media in 2007 we still had a digital divide, who you are off line and who you are online were different people. That no longer exists and you can hide behind fake avatars and fa ke you can hide behind fake avatars and fake names and it makes it much harder to track down traces. Theres also the risk that we in the uk have free speech that risky perception. We dont, its the american constitution, using that confuses the issue further. This petition handed in had 200,000 people who signed it. Do you think with this deadline coming tomorrow that the government will bring in some meaningful changes, and other social Media Companies, more to the point, joined up in their thinking . To help out . I think this is where it needs to happen. We need to Start Holding social Media Companies to as much account as those on the platform. You couldnt report abuse or disability hate speech on twitter until 2018 and you still cant on instagram. How are you going to get this on the radar . How do you get it into the ecosystem of the platform . Im very curious to see what is said tomorrow of the governments response. What could be the biggest step for the government . And what social Media Companies could do to make this a more manageable issue . think we need to get the platforms on board. I dont want to be too gung ho. I dont want to start which hunting and locking everyone up in prison who says something that mail may not be abusive or hate speech. According to what the cps determine. I think we need to get people media literate. I was the last generation that did not have the internet and now everyone is growing up with it andl now everyone is growing up with it and i dont think we are a social media literate, i dont think we are a social media literate as we could be. Ithink a social media literate as we could be. I think its a real systematic thing that we need to take on at every single level. The government says it is committed to tackling hate form, hate crime, rather, in all forms, including abuse targeting disabled people. It also plans to introduce a statutory duty of care, which would make Companies Take responsibility for the safety of their users, and be enforced by an independent regulator. What effect does this have on you, and other people . On me, i will screenshot it, i dont retweet it because it gives them the attention they want and i will correct the grammarand they want and i will correct the grammar and move on. They want and i will correct the grammarand move on. But they want and i will correct the grammar and move on. But for people who may be less resilient or robust, it can be completely sold destroying. Theres the argument that people go, dont go on social media, get over. Why should disabled people, this is 20 of the population we are talking about, have their freedom and ability is restricted because other people cant act like decent human beings on the internet . Thank you very much for coming in. Adam pearson there, thank you. Heres stav with a look at this mornings weather. Its its very foggy at Salford Quays this morning good morning. Very foggy in places. We will wrap up warm routine hip checks for babies are failing to spot problems that can lead to major surgery and complications in later life, according to surgeons in dundee. Hip dysplasia is a common condition, where the joint is not properly formed. It is usually picked up during a childs medical check at six weeks old, but Research Suggests four out of five children with the condition are going undiagnosed. Lisa summers reports. Hello this kind of routine check is done twice, within days of birth and then as a safety net at six weeks. Its then as a safety net at six weeks. Its a very difficult examination to do, actually. Is that funny . Lainer is four months old. She was lucky as her hip dysplasia was caught early and her treatment straightforward. There you go this was the harness she had, herfirst harness. You can see this strap, it was designed to keep her legs in that position. Hip dysplasia is a common childhood condition, but doctors say that too many cases of it are being missed. Its many cases of it are being missed. Its a very gentle and controlled method which isnt causing any discomfort or anything to elena, which is fantastic. Part of the problem we have with these children, when they present at walking age or late, the more time that passes the harder it is to get a normal result. Even with the best surgery you can ever do. There is no stopping rowan now, but she had to undergo major surgery now, but she had to undergo major surgery at around four months old. Problems with her hip were missed in both checks. She was an attraction for a week, 24 hours a day with her leg suspended by her ankles and this frame over her cart. You miss the closeness you have with a young baby, it separates you physically from your child. It was only by chance that her dysplasia was discovered by a physio the family received for another matter. M shouldnt be down to luck, it should be down to proper training or systems that make sure it is picked up systems that make sure it is picked up at the right time. All of the Health Visitors that we saw were doing theirjob, it wasjust Health Visitors that we saw were doing theirjob, it was just a Health Visitors that we saw were doing theirjob, it wasjust a lack of the fundamental expertise. The tea m of the fundamental expertise. The team of doctors based here at nine wells study data over a five year period, and found if dysplasia was missed at the early check, it was frequently missed later on. We are really failing our patients and our population in not picking up the condition at an early stage. Therefore, subjecting our patients to major surgery at a later stage, and an uncertain future. That can even mean hip replacements at a young age and a higher risk of arthritis. That is why doctors say an expert eye is required in the first few days. What we know is that if you have people with experience at doing the cheque, your rate of pick up is much higher. So if we can really focus on improving the pick up in the neonatal period, and avoid the need to pick up at six to eight weeks when it is a really difficult thing to do. Meanwhile, to the delight of elena and her mum and dad, shesjust been the delight of elena and her mum and dad, shes just been given the all clear. Lisa summers, bbc news. She looks very cute. She does, gorgeous i wasjust she looks very cute. She does, gorgeous i was just saying, she looks very cute. She does, gorgeous i wasjust saying, my daughter, five months old now, she had that check as well. All ok, hopefully . All ok, but its interesting watching that because you almost need a Second Opinion or to go again because they are so tiny and trying to manoeuvre their hips is quite tricky. They are so fragile. Peace of mind for any parent. You are watching bbc brea kfast parent. You are watching bbc breakfast from bbc news, time for a look at the front pages. The Prime Minister has told the sunday express that an election victory for the tories could lead to brexit being wrapped up within days. However, the sunday times says Boris Johnson faces a double threat, after a new poll suggests labour has enjoyed a bounce in support and remain parties have finalised an electoral pact to thwart him. It also joins several papers in marking englands defeat in the Rugby World Cup final. A painting at one of Prince Charles favourite stately homes is allegedly a fake and not the 50 Million Pound monet it was claimed to be, reports the mail on sunday. An american forger says he, and not the 19th century french impressionist, painted the image hung at dumfries house. And the metro online looks at the washout weekend after rain and winds of up to 80 Miles Per Hour hit the uk. Somebody has tweeted saying we were talking about the rotten weather, that was the case in the south of the country yesterday, in North Yorkshire it was a lovely day. Just so yorkshire it was a lovely day. Just so you know, in the north west, it is very foggy you cannot see anything we will talk through some of these inside papers now. Its nice to see you again, dan. Internet expert, technology writer. Expert at everything thank you. suffering from the autumn slump, here is how to beat it. A woman running, by the looks of it. Worrying if you dont like running this was what you are talking about, how great in the north west and its part of this autumn slump, people are being a bit more depressed and other things because of the lack of sunlight and vitamin d. Go out and do some exercise, but also other things like think about how you will use apps and technology to boost your levels of endorphins, around things like the body clock, and the lights. Ive heard about those. And the classics, make sure that you have got a fitbit. Other brands are available. Fitbit. Other brands are available. Fitbit have been bought by google for £21 billion. Fitbit have been bought by google for £2. 1 billion. Do you do any of these things . And do you feel the autumn slump . I do. I definitely do use trackers and a lot of data to maintain my health. Im very aware, especially around the dietary stuff that i have to do personally. Autumn is coming you want to hunker down in the nights. On a nice, crisp and sunny autumn morning, it is lovely. Next we are going to the observer. And Artificial Intelligence . Yes, we we re and Artificial Intelligence . Yes, we were talking about apps, getting all of this data coming together. They are showing that al is going on leaps and bounds, so much so it can write coherently and it looks at replacing authors very soon. Theres a product called gtp2, and my company, called open ai, it can write so well you cannot tell that it isa write so well you cannot tell that it is a computer doing it. They are worried about it and not releasing this into the wild because they think it might be too dangerous. I dont know if you have seen the deep fa ke dont know if you have seen the deep fake videos that are heading online, especially in these political times. We have to look at how this happens. Ethical ai is a consideration in tech and we need to think about it. And considerate. There one brilliant thing, look around, the journalist says any day now they will write newspaper columns. May be they already are . Theres all of this talk about elections and social media being influenced. Lowe and we need to be caple about what we are reading. And the coverage of the trump election, they had holograms as their presenters. We need to move on, quickly this is another health story from the daily mail, the mail on sunday. Its interesting, that lady is the daughter of aa gill, a great writer. They took a test and they worked out that she was more likely to get dementia. Its a genetic test, but as the doctor Michael Mosley is rightly saying, you need to be careful with these genetic tests, this isjust part of it. Its more of these things like diet, low carb high fat, thats a better way of dealing with a potential risk to dementia. And i suppose if you had the test and youve been predisposed, you will Pay Attention to other risks . And you can use it, as you said in the article, knowledge is power. You can change what you do with diet and exercise. And at the end you can lower your risk by about 30 . Lets squeeze this one in, from the observer. Musical paracetamol . We we re observer. Musical paracetamol . We were talking about great things about technology, you can do social prescribing, this is being done more and more. Instead of using drugs and other things to deal with these problems like depression, we are realising the social thing is getting out and doing more for yourself. Like singing . Yes, this woman is singing to dementia victims and she finds it really helps them. And socially prescribing, going to these events, people are getting healthier. Its the Worlds Largest study, proving that it works. Mention this in 15 seconds, they strives anyone who had that song in their head, baby cut shark, it drove eve ryo ne their head, baby cut shark, it drove everyone mad about a year ago. Baby shark. The family behind it are worth Something Like £56 million as a result of other things they had during their career. Theyve had an amazing amount of success. Its a great online story, not necessarily the best song, but there is gold in those hills if you get cracking m reminds me of gangnam, it got so irritating but had such success. And it is all online. 4 billion views, digital transformation. And there its good to see you as always, dan, thanks very much. Stay with us, headlines coming up. Hello, this is breakfast with rogerjohnson and Babita Sharma. Heres a summary of this mornings main news as the general Election Campaign gets into full swing, labour and the conservatives are making big spending pledges. Borisjohnson has confirmed the end of the benefits freeze in place since 2016, whileJeremy Corbyn is proposing to insulate almost every home in the uk, which labour say will create hundreds of thousands of jobs. The liberal democrats have formally complained after itv said its head to head Election Debate would only include Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn. The party said its leader, jo swinson, should also appear in the debate later this month, suggesting her absence risks misrepresenting the current political reality. Itv said it intends to offer viewers balanced election coverage. A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a car drove into a pub in essex. It follows the death of five people in San Francisco on halloween night, when a party at a rented home ended in a shootout. Screening of potential guests will be improved and a dedicated Rapid Response team set up for tackling concerns about bookings. Cookies, do you make them . cookies, do you make them . I have tried. What about delivering them somewhere out of this world . An oven is being delivered to the International Space station for astronauts to bake chocolate chip cookies. Its all part of an experiment to test the impact of high heat and zero gravity on the shape and consistency of the biscuits. I bet they taste out of this world. It will be interesting to see if they taste as good, we will never know ourselves. I like them a little bit soggy. Oh no, i dont. And with the champagne, talking about Lewis Hamilton. No silverware at the Rugby World Cup yesterday, but Lewis Hamilton could deliver some today . The us grand prix takes place this evening and by the end of it he could be formula one World Champion for the sixth time. Nick parrott reports. A sixth formula one world title is almost in Lewis Hamiltons hands. Only Mercedes Team mate Valtteri Bottas can keep him waiting. But the finn has his work cut out because he must win in austin or its all over. In a colder than usual texas, he kept the heat on in qualifying, claiming pole position at the circuit of the americas for the first time. This is one of hamiltons favourite tracks, having won here more than anyone else. But he could do no better than fifth, more than a quarter of a second off the pace. Obviously not great. But it is what it is. We have another day to fight tomorrow. So just try and focus towards tomorrow. Valtteri did a greatjob. So congratulations to him. It should be a fun day. Theres all the possibility still in the world. So thats it. Even if bottas wins, hamilton will become champion if he finishes eighth. It would see him move above juan Manuel Fangio in the all time list. Next season he could equal Michael Schumachers seven titles and surpass his 91 race wins. And he already has more pole positions than anyone else. Already one of the greats, hamilton may go on to become the greatest of all. Nick parrott, bbc news. England fans still no doubt be pouring over the outcome of yesterdays final having watched england outmuscled by south africa, losing 32 12. The springboks drinking in their win with the webb ellis trophy. Some perhaps more than most. That is the sale scrum half faf de klerk. But what a moment for siya kolisi, the teams first black captain to hold aloft that trophy. A symbol of progress in south africa. England head coach eddie jones meanwhile was at a loss to explain where it went wrong, but had a clear plan of how theyll get over the disappointment. The only thing we are worried about now is having a few beers. And that is the only thing we will worry about. And after we have a few beers today we will probably have a few more beers tomorrow and then probably monday. And then well maybe have to pull up stumps. Well, were joined now by a man who knows what it feels like to be beaten by the South African springboks, former England International mark cueto. Defeat for england and i hate to say that you know that feeling too well. Unfortunately, the fridge is still stacked with the beers. A real disappointment but i think the team never got out of the blocks, with Kyle Sinckler going off. How much of an impact did that have . Kyle Sinckler going off. How much of an impact did that have . I think it had a huge impact with the struggles that we had. To win a game of rugby, you need a solid set piece and we we re you need a solid set piece and we were completely dominated in that aspect of the game yesterday by south africa. The faces say at all, how will they be feeling . They will be gutted. The frustrating thing for me, in 2007 we obviously got beaten in the final, but i think we did well to get to the final considering what happened prior. This team will never have a better opportunity to win this world cup. On paper, they are the best team in england has had ina long are the best team in england has had in a long time. The performance against new zealand was one of the best complete performances we have seen may best complete performances we have seen may be in for ever. I dont think it will hit home but it is 12 years on, the first time england have got to the final since 2007. I was sat in the kitchen and its brought in some crazy memories and it almost sat in for a minute for me you always have to bury disappointments quickly in sport. From a positive point of view we have some players are coming back to sale sharks. These boys will be back in action over the next couple of weeks. How do you get over it . They will be busy with the next few days with the media and travelling back from japan and be back with their clubs. We had four players in that game yesterday and they will be back in manchester in the rain in a couple of weeks and that will bring them back down to earth. Listening to the commentary yesterday, how many players play their rugby in this country, we are lucky in this country, a bit like football, you can go and watch these people. You dont have to go to twickenham and fight to watch these people. You can watch them in a premier game. Yes, trying to push that message out. I go to twickenham so many times and there are lots of northerners who only go and watch at twickenham. And you get very close to the action in any of the grounds in the premiership. Yes, the stadium is fantastic. We have four Rugby World Cup finalists, two winners, two losers. What a moment for siya kolisi and saying did he dream about this as a young boy and he was saying i was only thinking about getting my next meal. Seeing some of the pictures, and people who were in the pictures, and people who were in the crowd including players who had previously won it. To get a broader perspective on it and hear the players from south africa talk, there is a country that need this lift from winning a world cup then certainly it is south africa. Do you think that faff has put his clothes back on yet . He probably looks a lot better than we would. The disappointment in your voice is still so heavy but like you said just to pick yourself up.
