Topic of conversation at the summit. I think is trying to set out a suggestion that there is a way around the irish backstop. I dont think thats going to fly in brussels. I understand that lost it when he spoke to the irish minister he was rebuffed and it was said that they will not reopen the whole issue. This will be seen as was often described as having your cake and eating it. Thats the way they see this. See this is going over old ground. Weve been so many times in the search of a solution over the past two or three years since the brexit vote. Brussels feels again this is old ground we have to move on, there is a deal out there, you either take the deal you dont and there is no time to renegotiate and dont desire to negotiate that. In the ad comes down to the single what borisjohnson is the ad comes down to the single what Boris Johnson is in the ad comes down to the single what borisjohnson is in effect asking for and what britain is always as was wanted is to continue trading within the eu in similar terms of the ones we had as a member and you say theres a price for that, theres a way of doing things if you really wa nt theres a way of doing things if you really want that and if you want that sort of deal, fine, but you have to adhere to this sort of rules. Put in simple terms, what britain has wanted the past three yea rs britain has wanted the past three years is to resign from the golf club, stop pay the fees but still come in and use the greens and play golf batches. Matches. The eu are better without because if they say we can give it to britain and other countries will state, we adhering to the rules when youre giving it away for free . Thats look at the financial times, the effects of the uncertainty is a weak pound and ample opportunity for those looking for a ample opportunity for those looking fora bargain as ample opportunity for those looking for a bargain as per the billionaire from hong kong who has brought up this company. Thats true, the richest man is buying up the pub chain in the United Kingdom for £4. 6 billion. I am an old man, so ive been here before. If i go back to the mid i9 805. A long time ago when i was the mid i9 805. A long time ago when iwa5a the mid i9 805. A long time ago when i was a Business Reporter and general board of the bbc, when the pound wa5 general board of the bbc, when the pound was very weak, if you remember at one stage went down to 1 and five to the pound. What happened and was a triggering of a rush to buy uk asset5 was a triggering of a rush to buy uk assets by foreign companies. So a lot of things here that were very cheap in real terms of their buying a foreign currency and they snap up lots of bargains. I think i sing that again. The downside of the brexit cri5i5 that again. The downside of the brexit crisis is a weak pound. I think dressing that again. There is a rush to buy greene king, an old group, 1799 it was founded forward drinker5 out there who like old speckled hen and they think they can benefit from this. Theyve decided the has further to fall but at the moment you may as well take some things even if you are going to buy other things later. One of the point about this as we all know is at the drink5 industry, the pub industry in the attic kingdom has not been having an every time ea5y ta bletop having an every time ea5y tabletop people dont have the money they used to have to spend in pubs, 5tu d e nts they used to have to spend in pubs, students in particular, young people looking for alternatives, they drink le55 looking for alternatives, they drink less a nyway, looking for alternatives, they drink le55 anyway, clearly this Hong Kong Group has decided its worth eyeing greene king, and deciding and seeing if they can change the model and make more traffic to get people backin and make more traffic to get people back in there to develop a new bu5ine55 back in there to develop a new business model. Lets have a look at, on the theme of hong kong, this i5 at, on the theme of hong kong, this is really interesting, the social media ban on the accounts they say they have identified as deliberately, specifically spreading misinformation they suspect strongly that it misinformation they suspect strongly thatitis misinformation they suspect strongly that it is coming from the chinese state. While twitter and facebook are banning the 936 accounts, there are banning the 936 accounts, there are others, many others that are under review, it is a sign, isnt it . As well know chinese states are using more and more cyber propaganda attem pts using more and more cyber propaganda atte m pts to using more and more cyber propaganda attempts to use fake news in order to influence what is going on and certainly what were seeing here is twitter and facebook under a lot of pressure on these issues because they have been so many elections for example that they have been accusations of use, they have been accused of being slow to act at the other and in this matter. I think its pretty hopeless actually, because i think one thing about cyber space because i think one thing about cyberspace is if you, you close down some accounts, some are going to spring up almost immediately. You are constantly having to do it and there are constantly new ways of getting around the system. I applaud what they are trying to do, its good, as a formerjournalist to get rid of fake but i recognise its very tough. Theyre moving much more quickly because there is pressure on them. There is clearly their clue to get on board and they are moving much may have in the past. To get on board and they are moving much may have in the past. They feel under pressure from their own staff who want to feel the companies are responsive but secondly the financial markets, the people, they wa nt to financial markets, the people, they want to fill respect. They want to be seen to be doing the right thing. The sun, intriguing. The tracking devices fitted in castles up i saw this and i thought, hat and of tracking devices on then four years . They have. The suggestion here that is mercedes, supposedly spying on drivers with tracking devices, they say that they only trigger the tracking devices under extreme circumstances. Normally when they wa nt to circumstances. Normally when they want to repossess a car because most abort on recent deals leasing deals will stop and they can represented. What i found interesting about the stories that it shows whenever read the small print in the contract is signed. Because heres says that in a story, and procedures bends the point that when a customer chooses to finance the purchase of the car in this way the purchase of the car in this way the sign a contract and agree to the location sensors in the car being activated. It is there in the small print but of course, do it if the boss ticked the box and say yes of course. There is terms in terms of course. There is terms in terms of the stop stop if we read the small print we would know but again, i come back to always on the sort of stories, but are constantly being tracked everywhere these days and we have to accept that. The phones we carry, the cctv in the street, if we have nothing to hide while, ok theres nothing to worry about. If you have got something to hide as probably as i do worry about it also the robustness of the tracking system. You can hack it. A massive massive issue. It will teach us to read the small print properly. Seeking a small print, when you book a flight and this is related to the daily telegraph, have the option to offset. This is quite an extreme case because the criticism being levelled at the duke and duchess of sussex who are using this overjets to get around and yet the same time calling for more to be done on climate change. How do they square that you . Is he seen a lot of newspapers its open season on the couple and it has been for some months, whatever they do their been criticised. There was adjoining to put out liberal values, that is under attack from some pauses. I wonder how much change is in this matter . Theyre using privatejets. I remember covering the royals is a bbc reporter and many places, the royals have always travelled by some sort of private transport. Whether it was commercial, private jet of whether it was using the world flight, whether it was using the world flight, there is a security issue around the royals. What on earth do we expect them to do . In this case, eltonjohn, the story has come to the rescue. His left them a private jet but had the paying the carbon offset. This is more to do with the fa ct offset. This is more to do with the fact that they are more vulnerable and under attack was of every story is at attempt to attack them. The story on the front of the times for any story on the front of the times for a ny pa re nts story on the front of the times for any parents who might be with their kids getting them ready for School Across europe, not school, summer holidays. Many kids have been of a fortune this summer, because in some holidays we spend a fortune keeping them entertained, its not easy to do that. In the story says were a lwa ys do that. In the story says were always happy have children and even happier when they leave home. Its a lot cheaper. The study focuses on the empty nesters. This is turning it on its head. We are obviously poorer as a result of having children, be unhappy but when they leave home with other fact we can see them but dont have to pay for them. Thank you very much indeed we re them. Thank you very much indeed were going through the stories with others. Stay with us here on bbc news so much more to come. Hello there. The last two weeks have been pretty unsettled across the uk, quite a lot of rain around, strong, unseasonable winds too. But there are signs, as this week continues to wear on, pressure will begin to build, things will turn drier and warmer, and in fact today is looking like one of those. There will be quite a lot of dry and warm weather around as High Pressure begins to nose in from the south west. We still have a few weather fronts across northern areas. Theyll generate a few showers at times, mainly across central, southern scotland and into northern england, maybe the odd one there for Northern Ireland, but i think elsewhere largely dry. Lovely spells of sunshine after the chilly start. Into the afternoon well see those temperatures reaching 19 21 degrees across england and wales. Closer to 15 18 across Northern Ireland and scotland. So those values are a touch below the seasonal average. As we head through tuesday night, it looks like itll be another largely dry one. One or two showers across northern and western areas. Bit more of a breeze here, but lighter winds further south and east, so that again will lead to a fairly cool night, particularly out of town and where skies clear. So that takes us on into wednesday, then. Weve got pressure building across southern and eastern areas as this High Pressure establishes itself over the near continent, but another area of low pressure could spoil things across the north and the west of the country for wednesday. Most places will start fine with some sunshine around, but then well see this weather front push into Northern Ireland, then into much of scotland through the day. Wet and windy conditions, and ahead of it, perhaps a few showers affecting the north and west of wales, perhaps north west england. But there will be some good spells of sunshine again further south and east, where itll actually feel quite warm, 22 or 23 degrees. That weather system clears away as we head on into thursday. Therell be more weather fronts affecting the north west corner of the country. The further south and east that you are, closest to the High Pressure, the lighter the winds, and also more sunshine around. Well be tapping into some of the warmth over the near continent, so you can see the red colours indicating something warmer, into the low to mid 205 celsius. Friday, similar story well have a weather front affecting the far north west of the country, but actually, with southerly winds, that warmth will spread a bit further north. So well see 20 celsius or even warmer than that for Northern Ireland, parts of eastern scotland, and we could see 26 or 27 degrees across central, southern and eastern england. So thats the picture for friday, and as we head on into the weekend, High Pressure continues to dominate. That is, away from the north west corner of the country, which will always see those weather fronts bringing more cloud at times. But it really will turn warmer. We could see 27 or 28 degrees on saturday across the south and the east. Good morning, welcome to breakfast with Naga Munchetty and dan walker. Our headlines today the most selfless person you will ever meet the widow of Police Officer Andrew Harper pays moving tribute to her husband, as a man is charged with his murder.
