More on the way things are looking inafew more on the way things are looking in a few moments. Its saturday the 6th ofjuly. Our top story murderers who refuse to reveal the location of a victims body could be forced to spend longer in prison under a new law. The legal change, known as helens law, follows campaigning by the mother of Helen Mccourt, who was killed in 1988 but whose body was never found. Ben ando reports. For 31 years, Marie Mccourt has been fighting for helens law, named after her daughter who was just 22 when she was abducted and murdered in 1988. Her killer, pub landlord ian sims. He has never reveal the whereabouts of helens body. Marie led a campaign demanding that murderers who refused to disclose the whereabouts of a victims remains bent longer behind bars. But it is optional. Helens law changes that. It makes doctoring it in law changes that. It makes doctoring itina law changes that. It makes doctoring it in a legal requirement. Even now, marie lights candles every week at her home in merseyside. Although she still does not know where her daughters remains are, the creation of helens law may provide some comfort, especially if it means otherfamilies will comfort, especially if it means other families will not have to face both the pain of loss and the agony of not knowing. Ben ando, bbc news. And well be speaking to helens mother, Marie Mccourt, just after 8 oclock. A new record High Temperature has been set in the american state of alaska, part of which lies inside the arctic circle. It reached 32 degrees celsius in anchorage on thursday. The average temperature there at this time of year is 18. Climate change researchers say its a worrying development. A sculpture of the american first lady, melania trump, has been unveiled in her home country of slovenia. This is it. But the life size wooden statue has prompted mixed reviews. But to be fair, it was carved out of a tree trunk by a chainsaw. The reason she is in a blue dress is because it is the dress she wore at the inauguration. I know that you enjoy a sculpture, and a bad sculpture, but this one needs to be taken in sculpture, but this one needs to be ta ken in context . Sculpture, but this one needs to be taken in context . It is an interesting piece of work and you can see it is drawing a crowd and by way of explanation, as i understand it, it isnt that there is a piece of wood popped on top of a tree, but is the tree that has been carved. You see what i mean . Can we see those pictures again . You think it is still a living tree . It is the tree itself and they got rid of everything. There is mike at wimbledon waiting for us. We will come back to it. They got rid of everything until they ended up with melania, if you see what i mean. So thatis melania, if you see what i mean. So that is the tree, so she is still pa rt that is the tree, so she is still part of the tree. The trunk . Yes, the whole thing, she is a part of the whole thing, she is a part of the whole thing, she is a part of the whole thing. Well, it is a very nice thing to have a sculpture made of you. Did i pop upa minute earlier . Interrupting the sculptures . You did not do anything wrong and it was looking lovely, mike. Sometime ahead of a cracking day. Amazing, so many writs involved andl day. Amazing, so many writs involved and i have never seen so much traffic outside wimbledon is at 430 this morning with loads of people joining the queue, but i popped up early because i was so excited to relive the moment of yesterday evening when henman hill, whatever you want to call it, murray mound, was packed full of people firstly expecting to see the friday night drama with murray and williams and they were not disappointed at all because in the end it was given to us because in the end it was given to us by coco gauff, an incredible 15 year old. It says it all that she had centre court billing, it was not against the top seed or anything but she had centre court billing and what a match it was, went on to nearly 8 30 pm, i was what a match it was, went on to nearly 8 30 pm, iwas in what a match it was, went on to nearly 8 30 pm, i was in a packed pub around here and it was like they we re pub around here and it was like they were cheering on andy murray again, the cheering was incredible, the 15 year old playing in her first grand slam event, and chanting the crowd, saving to match points against Polona Hercog, continuing a brilliant run so she plays simona halep in the fourth round and she is the youngest player to make it this far at wimbledon since jennifer capriati. Actually, she has two weeks younger than jennifer was in 2000, whenever she did it, 1991. When coco gauff was born, 2004, Serena Williams had already won two wimbledon titles. Toxic by Britney Spears was number one. It was that recent when rooney was starring for england. It makes you sort of shiver when you think how young she is. Wayne. When she goes out on monday and perhaps she can continue her run, she will own £176,000 and she was saying this morning she will spend it on goodies because her mum has banned her from wearing goodies for two months. Has banned her from wearing goodies fortwo months. Hoodies. So now she wants to go and buy more hoodies. She is all over the papers this morning. Well, coco gauffs story has been brilliant for the headline writers too. The telegraph called it the fairy tale of centre court weve gone loco. Over coco is the headline in the daily mail. And theres something similar in the mirror too, which says coco goes loco. For those new wonderful coco gauff fans, she is back in action, partnering jade clark in the mixed doubles, he was meant to be partnering harriet dark but he switched earlier this week to coco so the story continues here. Mike, you are allowed to spot partners . Change your partners . Even if it has been declared . To be fair, there was some controversy, i will not say that harriet was best pleased because it was quite late but yes, you are allowed. To talk a bit more about coco gauffs again, wonderful photos of her parents last night being so relieved at the end but her dad as her head coach, he was actually a basketball player and her mum with a track and feel athlete. It is in the genes. Talk to you later. A good heritage lets look at the front pages. Borisjohnson is set for a landslide win in the race for number 10, suggests a poll in the times. The paper also features a story about one of britains richest and most powerful figures who has been granted secrecy orders preventing details of alleged Sexual Harassment and assault claims becoming public. The paper has blacked out the name of the person involved. The daily mirror leads on our top story, which is that killers who refuse to reveal the whereabouts of bodies will be denied parole. Quite a lot of attention on criminals today and prison sentences. Changes possibly if you are convicted of murder and you do not reveal where the body of your victim is, there could be changes in there as well. The proposed new law is named after Helen Mccourt, who disappeared in 1988 and has never been found. It is also on the front of the daily mirror. These killers do not reveal where the bodies have been put, they will be denied parole. The front page of the mirror. And the sun, we mentioned a moment ago, this is the christening taking place today, oil baby archie. Top secret is the word because this is an event that prince harry and meghan hoped to keep quiet. Tot secret. I am looking forward to this, it is not yet been scheduled but they had some practice ahead of their doubles match which was meant to be yesterday, but timing issues, so it has to be scheduled for today. It will be extraordinary. I cannot wait 0rkneys archaeological treasures are of global significance but the World Heritage status that they have could soon be under threat because of Climate Change. Experts say rising seas and high rainfall mean the ancient village of scarbrough are extremely vulnerable. The chief news correspondent james cook reports from 0rkney. It is important to me because it is pa rt it is important to me because it is part of 0rkneys history, we learned about skara brae at school and it was very interesting. It brings a lot of people into 0rkney and i had a lot of great experiences there. Lot of people into 0rkney and i had a lot of great experiences therem brings tourists and generates a lot of interest. Everyone benefits from. Everywhere we go in orkney, you meet history. But now, the history is under threat, skara brae is only just clinging on. For years, under threat, skara brae is only just clinging on. Foryears, un has been watching nervously as the sea advances on the village. Euan. This has been here for what, 5000 yea rs, this has been here for what, 5000 years, this site. Is there really that severe a threat from the way that severe a threat from the way that the climate is changing in the last few years . The threat here is a very real. In terms of the survival of this site. The global projections for Sea Level Rise are quite astonishing in that by the end of this century, by 2100, sea level around most of the planet could be one metre higher than it is now. Around most of the planet could be one metre higher than it is nowm these defences were not here, what would have happened to the site . These defences were not here, what would have happened to the site7m these defences were not here we certainly would have lost parts of the site and possibly up to two thirds of the site would have gone. Twothirds of skara brae would have been washed away . Yes, yes, so these defences are essential. And it isnt just skara these defences are essential. And it isntjust skara brae, access to the ancient ring of vodka is also threatened by Climate Change say conservationists. The treasures of orkney have weathered the elements for thousands of years and so, it is tempting to think of them as robust. But Scientists Say that actually, more fragile than that. And they are extremely vulnerable to the effects of Climate Change. But there is some good news. This report also finds the community here is tough enough to respond to the challenge. The photo was taken at the ring in i think about 1962 or so. I was part ofafamily think about 1962 or so. I was part of a family interested in orkneys history so were taken to visit these sites. This building here is different, it isnt a house because it doesnt have beds in it. Patricia long has been intrigued by orkneys heritage since she was a little girl. She is now a tourist guide and she exemplifies that acadian resilience. I mean we have always had the climate to content with, it is always an unpredictable factor, but the fascinating thing about the social history here is how we take what is the next thing and we make the most of that and when that moves on, whether it is the shoals moving on, whether it is the shoals moving on or the end of the war and so we look at the next thing. Of course now it is renewable energy. This is where the Main Business in the world for wind power and tight power to be tested. So we make the most of what has come along and deal with events. So there are grounds for optimism. After all, orkney has been adapting to the climate for thousands of yea rs to the climate for thousands of years and katie say this time to the Island Heritage will endure. James cook, bbc news. You can see more stories like that on bbc scotland every weekday evening at 9 00pm, or on the bbc iplayer. We caught a glimpse of how things are looking at wimbledon this morning, and it is set fair, i think. Susan has the details for the rest of the uk right now. A very good morning to you. It is a beautiful start to the day, this picture has just beautiful start to the day, this picture hasjust come in, a dog having a lovely run out this morning. We have certainly had some very warm weather to the south of the uk in the last few days. We got up the uk in the last few days. We got up to 28 in the south east yesterday. For the north, a fresher feel as the weather front started to feed in, 16 degrees. That cooler weather is increasingly coming into play through the course of this weekend is that end of cloud which isa weekend is that end of cloud which is a coldweather front sinks its way south. Through the course of the morning, it willjust south. Through the course of the morning, it will just trickle south. Through the course of the morning, it willjust trickle down into wales, the midlands and eastern england, bringing increasing amounts of cloud and some patchy rain at times. It does start to get close to wimbledon later on in the afternoon, and we may, just may, see the odd shower courtesy of that front, certainly through the second half of the days play. Quite cloudy prospects through the afternoon, but it should feel pleasant enough if you are lucky enough to be heading that way, a high of 21 or 22. Still aiming forthe mid 20s that way, a high of 21 or 22. Still aiming for the mid 20s along the south coast, where i think we will get some more solid sunshine today. Things should brighten across north wales, the north midlands through the second half of the day as well. To the north of the front we are into the fresh air, we have the lower bridges. High teens at best, perhaps 11 to 14 across northern scotla nd perhaps 11 to 14 across northern scotland but there should be plenty of sunshine. Just a few isolated showers for northern and eastern scotland. And if you are heading out on saturday evening there is still plenty of fair weather to come. Just perhaps a few showers getting into the far south east after dark, affecting kent and sussex. Maybe the odd heavy one is that front slopes of into the channel. By the end of the night it is a way to the south and it should basically mean a fresher note for all after quite a warm night recently, particularly last night across southern england. On sunday, here we are. A lot of dry weather around, a few showers again just possible across northern scotland. Maybe the odd one for the pennines, but very unlikely we will see any rain. Top temperatures down a little on today, up to 20 degrees in london. Those temperatures will sit typically around average values as we look further ahead on into next week, a little more unsettled next week, a little more unsettled next week, a little more unsettled next week as well, but enjoy the fair weather this weekend. Now its time for the film review, with jane hill and mark kermode. Hello and welcome to the film review, on bbc news. To take us through this weeks cinema releases is mark kermode. And what have you been watching . We have midsommar, which im going to tell you in advance is not a horrorfilm. It has horror elements, but not a horror film. We have spider man far from home. And ibiza the silent movie. Which isnt that silent. I hope not. I get it, i get it. Last week was my first week back, so you were really nice, and now. Midsommar is the new movie by ari aster, who made hereditary. I wasnt crazy about hereditary. I thought the first half was terrific, and the second half was silly. Florence pugh is brilliant, is riven with anxiety about a terrible tragedy that has befallen her family at the beginning of the film. Her boyfriend, christian, she needs him for support, but what she doesnt know is that he has agreed to go to a pagan midsummerfestival. She isnt thrilled when she finds out. But she thinks she has to along with it. Christian says that youve got some special thing planned . Look, i dont mind you going ijust wish you would have told me, thats all. Well, i just apologised. You didnt apologise, you said sorry which sounds more like too bad. Maybe i should just go home. What . No. Im just trying to understand. And im trying to apologise. And i dont need an apology. I dont, ijust wanted to talk about it, thats all. I really think i should just leave. No, no. Please, please. Please, im not trying to attack you. Im not. It really feels like you are well then im sorry im sorry, ijust got confused. Im sorry. Hey, please come on. Can you come and sit with me please . Just stop. And we can talk about it . Look, itjust felt really weird, ok . But im fine. I think its great that youre going to sweden, i do. So you can see it as a relationship movie. About a couple having problems. It begins in dark winter and they go to sweden to the festival in which everything is bright and happy and everyone is wearing white dresses and headdresses. All very beautiful. And you know because we have all seen the wicker man that things are not going to go very well. But it wears its wicker man influences on its sleeve. But it also is absolutely about her and about her state of mind and weirdly what happens at the festival is somehow that becomes externalised. So, on the one hand, we know that this is something which is dressed in the garb of a folk horror movie, of which wicker man is a high watermark. But there isnt anything like the terrible moment in which Edward Woodward goes over the hill and realises what this is. Its a much more gradual, slow burn movie about a group of people, and one person in the middle of it whose central relationship is falling apart, who is bearing with her a great grief about her family, who is brought to this festival in which everyone is invested in toxic family and sisterhood and everyone talks about this being a great wonderful cycle of life and indeed to death. And what i liked was when i said hereditary was very uneven. First half really traumatising, second half silly. This is much more about a character progression. Not least because Florence Pugh is brilliant, will poulter is brilliant. You buy into all supporting actors, and therefore you buy into the film itself. There was no one more reserved about ari aster and i was because his short films were great and they are about family and family conspiracy and family secrets, and i thought hereditary went off the boil. But this is much more of a sustained piece. And i promise you it is not a horror movie. Although that said. Ijust dont believe you i love will poulter, but im still too scared to see it. It is a will poulter film, which happens to have scary parts after avengers, where do we go from here . Peter parker wants to be a Normal School kid. He wants to be able to tell mj that he loves her. But nick fury calls up and says we need you to put on the spider man costume and come and do the stuff because the world needs you. So whats interesting about the film is its quite playful. Its very funny, but also has kind of dark heart, because it exists in a world in which the question is what do we all do now . Where does it go from here . At the centre of it is somebody who doesnt want to be spider man. Theyjust want to be a Normal School kid who wants to be able to tell mj that he has a crush on her, and wants to be able to lead a normal life. So it is fun . It is fun but has some darkness underneath which i think is important and also stay till the very end because in this case, at the very end, there is notjust something that throws ahead to the future, but also something which refers back to what youve seen but you do need to stick around for it. Now, a new film. Yes, im a huge fan ofjulian temple. Everyone went to see absolute beginners. He has made great documentaries. So now ibiza the silent movie, which is obviously ironically titled. So its a film about ibiza and a film about history of the dance culture. The music is curated by fatboy slim, because asjulian temple said, he is not a dance culture fan. But what he has done this year has taken the format of silent movies. Silent movies always had music. Ibiza has music all the way through, but it uses intertitles rather than dialogue. It serves the same purpose as it would have done in a silent movie, and traces back the history of the island and the culture and tells us dont believe everything you see in this documentary but also does a very good job of saying this is where we are and there is both good and bad involved in that. Funk music plays. So you see from that its witty. Hes doing it with humour, yes. He tells you loads of stuff about ibiza. Ive never been to ibiza and i dont know anything about dance culture. Firstly the island was named after bez, the god of dance, which you think must be made up, but its true. At which point we see is from the happy mondays as the god of dance. It goes through the history of the rise and falls, the invasions, transformations, the farmers. It tells us when ibiza came the biggest Tourist Destination in the world. There were farmers living in the centre of the island who have never been to the coast. It talks about the nazis, the bohemians, the various people that had been there during its history. It uses archive film clips and cameo performances. And it centres in the end on this strange contradiction which is that tourism and dance culture has given life to ibiza but also stripping it of its identity. And indeed its water supply. And what the film manages to do is, a great documentary should make you know more about and more interested about something you know nothing about. And it does all that. You are never going to be bored withjulian temple. He makes films that are funny and smart. Im really looking forward to it. Im not sure i am looking forward to this weeks rerelease. Best film out dont look now. When it first went out in the 19705, it went out on a double bill in which the supporting feature was the wicker man. I think itsjust a stone cold masterpiece. Adapted from a story, but the film is absolutely a whole in and of itself. Terrifying with a brilliant score superb performances and it is a film about grief and loss. And it is impossible to ever look at a picture and walk around the streets of venice without hearing that score. It is hard to define because its actually about something. You have seen it . No, i am too scared it is about so much more than horror. It is about love and passion, and venice, and death. A quick final thought about dvds, streaming. This is a horror movie. And whats really interesting about this its a strangely creepy horror movie about a mother and son fleeing off to a woodland retreat where there is a hole in the ground, and this is a film which kind of relates to things like dark water or body snatchers. And what i liked about it was i went into it thinking i have probably seen all of this before but ten minutes and i thought this is creepy. And it had that real cold hand on the back of the neck feel. There are certain glimpses of horror through it so this you should avoid because it is a horror film midsommar isnt. I hear you. Thank you, mark. Thank god for spider man. Thats it, see you next time. Goodbye. Hello, this is breakfast. Good morning. Time now is 6 30 am and thank you forjoining us. A summary of todays stories. S who failed to disclose the whereabouts of the victims body could be denied parole and plans it up by david gauke. The legal changes follow extensive campaigning by the family of Helen Mccourt who was killed in 1989 by ian simms who has never reveal the location of her body. He said parole boards must now consider this cruelty when reviewing an offenders suitability for release. Some conservative Party Members have been sent two papers for the leadership contest instead of just sent two papers for the leadership contest instead ofjust one, the bbc uncovered. It is estimated more than 1000 people may have been affected, the paper sent to conservatives around the uk to allow them to vote for the next party leader. Of course, Prime Minister as well. Lets go to our Political Correspondent peter saull. Peter, tell us a little bit about what we know about this ballot paper problem. We do not know exactly how widespread it is, charlie, but one sources told us that around 1000 of the 160,000 also conservative members have received two ballot papers by mistake. This may be individuals who are working on one constituency and living in another, so signed up to two different conservative associations, people who have changed their maiden names after getting married, but also some individuals have the same name and same address and still got two ballot papers so it clearly is an issue. The conservative party say that the ballot paper makes it clear that the ballot paper makes it clear that if you vote twice, you will be expeued that if you vote twice, you will be expelled from the party and remember, this is not a normal election, normally those rules would be backed up by law and the Electoral Commission also has powers in that regard but all of this is controlled by the conservative party and if it comes to it that we end up with quite a close result on the 23rd ofjuly, and you know there are questions over the validity of the result and it is a serious result indeed. July 23 is when we will know who has one. What is happening between now and then . More of those regional hustings, 16 in total actually. A big, long tore up and down the country continues today in cardiff and in nottingham. They will continue over the next couple of weeks in different parts of the country. Itv have a debate on tuesday and andrew neil has an interview on bbc one on friday by which point the overwhelming majority of conservative members will have sent back there ballot papers but it is the week commencing the 22nd ofjuly that we will look out for and the 23rd is the day we will find out the name of our next Prime Minister. Thank you, peter. The former Prime Minister gordon brown is calling on waiver to automatically expel leaders for anti semitism if the evidence against them is irrefutable. My goodness, andy murray in two matches, the mens and the mixed doubles and harriet dart, coco gauff in action with jade clark, that i wonder really how it could possibly match what happened here yesterday evening when coco gauff was the sensation, 15 years old, the youngest player to reach the last 16 in almost 30 years. Incredible scenes as she saved too much points two much points to come from down to win through to the second week of wimbledon just 15 and three months this hill was heaving and at the end when she made it through, they shared the joy of her family, James Burford reports. Teenagers right . Always listening to their music. She has a good excuse though, this is a big occasion and she has to zone in but not since 1990 have we seen anything quite like this withjennifer capriati is a 14 year old reaching the fourth round that here. What stands out most about coco gauff, despite being just 15, is her composure. Blank shots of those double her age would be proud of. Up until now, the occasion has seemed utterly un troubling but may be here, signs of stress, a double fault to hand hertzog the first set. But if you doubt her bottle, have a look at this. We want to win this game, i want to send a message to my players that game is important and we do, we do have certain positions that we will need to freshen up in but my players know, they are under no illusions that this game is one we want to win, we want to go away from this world cup with something to show for the hard work we have put in but also, six wins one defeat sounds better than five wins and two defeats so i want to be laying on a sunbed next week happy we have finished the tournament well and not finished the tournament well and not finished on two defeats. You can watch it on the bbc of course this afternoon. Paul pogba does want to leave manchester united, this is his this is according to his agent. He rejoined united in 2016 and has been absent from the pre season training this week. His agent told the times one knows the willingness of paul to move on and we are in the process of that. Manchester united look to go to australia to play against leeds united in perth. Today we also have the last two matches of the group stage of the cricket world cup with sri lanka taking on india at headingley and australia south africa at old trafford. Unsurprisingly pakistan went out yesterday, confirming new zealands place in the semis, alongside england, india and australia. Because i needed to beat bangladesh by308 because i needed to beat bangladesh by 308 runs, and almost impossible task, having won by 94 wins so not quite enough. Also today the Tour De France gets under way in brussels and the riders will cover over 2000 miles before finishing in paris in three weeks time. Defending champion grant thomas is in the unusual position now of co leading the team with Chris Froomes rush a few weeks ago injuring him. He says they are ina good ago injuring him. He says they are in a good position. I wonder to last year so i am pretty confident i guess and im in the best shape possible and obviously a few u ps best shape possible and obviously a few ups and downs but you roll with it and you adapt and things that i feel like i am in a good place, paris is good, im looking forward to getting going now. This week is a lwa ys to getting going now. This week is always the worst, it drags, you know, you just think you have to fuel up not too much and it would be nice to get going. St helens have increased their lead in the rugby league at the top of the super league after thrashing third place hull fc, 40 points to 12. Also important for the rhinos, they beat castle to distance themselves from the bottom as they scrapped to avoid relegation. We can also had big win over hull kr. At wimbledon, as well as some brilliance yesterday, there was also some lighter, funnier moments and actually, not a bad thing in the heat. Mixed doubles here getting doubled soaked by a sprinkler on court 15. But a bad way to cool down although it took them by surprise and already this morning, 6 30 am, it isa and already this morning, 6 30 am, it is a scorcher again at the top of henman hill. I wish i was we are near naturally, iam. Deepwater, no bathing. Do you think anyone is watching . Go on, get on with the rest of the programme. Do not be silly what do you think is going to be, do you think, because it has not been scheduled yet, williams and murray, much . It will be quite complicated, he is due to play in the mens doubles, alongside herbert, and they will have a bit of a break, you would hope, and sometime after 6pm this evening. They will put it on whichever show court finishes first. Lets hope he gets through without getting too tired, that mens doubles match. As mystic greg said yesterday, he thinks murray can do the double double this year. Yesterday, he thinks murray can do the doubledouble this year. That would be brilliant, wouldnt it . We are cheering them, anyway. Would be brilliant, wouldnt it . We are cheering them, anywaylj would be brilliant, wouldnt it . We are cheering them, anyway. I am at wimbledon after all. We saw some of those lovely blue skies over wimbledon a moment ago. Susan has the picture across the rest of the uk. A very good morning to you, mike is feeling the warmth at wimbledon. Yesterday the temperatures got up into the high 20s and today it will be a bit cooler because they will be more cloud around. It will come through the course of the afternoon and i will show you why in just a second. A beautiful start across the uk for many. Yesterday we got up to 28 at london heathrow, cooler in the north, 16 degrees. You can see why, this band of cloud, a coldweather front sinking its way south through the course of the weekend and introducing cooler air as it does so. Not very much in the way of rain, although we cant quite rule out the odd shower at wimbledon later. The front is sitting across north wales through into hull bay and it will sink into wales, the midlands and east anglia, bringing some patchy rain but quite a lot of cloud, and that cloud then tips into southern england through the course of the afternoon, perhaps with a shower across wimbledon around teatime. Not likely to be a washout, by any means, but certainly a lot more cloud around. There may be a bit of rain triggering them to put the covers on later in the afternoon through the early evening. 21, 22 the highest for wimbledon this afternoon. Still pretty warm down the south coast, 24 or 25 through the south coast, 24 or 25 through the day. A weather front bringing some showers into the midlands and east anglia through the afternoon. Brighter skies following behind but the fresher air as well. 12 14 across northern scotland, still quite easy here as well, and a few showers are possible to the north and east. If youve got plans for this evening, the forecast is largely set fair. There will be plenty of sunshine, butjust largely set fair. There will be plenty of sunshine, but just the tail end of that weather front to factor into our story, some patchy rain across the south east of england. A fresher note than the nightjust gone across southern england, temperatures dipping down into the low teens. 17 or 18 in some spots in the nightjust gone. Sunday the front away into the channel. Sunshine for many, a pretty lovely day to end the weekend, but it will feel cooler. Notably, for some some of our north sea coast, 13. Quite a breeze down the north sea and a bit of cloud piling on as well. In the best of the sunshine, you can expect highs of 21 or 22 degrees. Temperatures are now set to stay around average values as we go into the week ahead. No heat wave in the near future, and into the week ahead. No heat wave in the nearfuture, and if anything, things are looking a bit more u nsettled things are looking a bit more unsettled especially to the north and west of the uk as we look to our week ahead. Thank you very much, see you later on. Some people will be quite relieved it has cooled down a bit. Now its time for click. A warm welcome to click. Welcome to click. Welcome to click, i am spencer kelly. Finally we have reached a very special milestone. We have been on air every week of every year, without a break, since we launched in the year 2000, which means this week you are watching season one, episode 1,000. And to celebrate, we are making a world first. Doing new things is in our dna. I am floating on air. Which is why we dont just show you the tech, we use the tech to push the boundaries of whats possible on tv. Here is the team. It is marc on camera one and two, simon on camera three and four, jen on five, nima on six and seven, ben on eight and this is thalia on nine. This was the worlds first full tv programme to be filmed and edited only on mobile devices. Fyi, it was a nightmare. This weeks click has been filmed entirely in 360 degrees. This was another world first, where we reinvented how tv was made, for an audience that could look in any direction at any time. And this week, for click 1,000, we have really gone for it. Do i explore the cave, or do i look behind the tree . Ill explore the cave. So turn to page 84. This is how i spent a lot of my childhood, reading books where i could choose my own adventure, where at every point, i got to decide what happened next, and every time i read it, the story changed. I absolutely loved them. Not only was i in a different world, but because i was in charge of the story, that story came to life. It felt so real. Come on then, spen. So, after choose your own adventure books, came computer adventure games, first with text, and then with amazing graphics. But both would let me explore vast worlds, bigger than any book. The problem is tv doesnt let us do that. It tells one story, it makes one set of choices, and we just sit back and watch. Until now. I demand freedom imagine if everything that you watched was interactive, and if you could change your experiences depending on your mood, your desires, or even how much time you had. If you go online at the address thats on screen now, you will find a special version of this programme that is interactive. You get to choose which tech stories you hear about, and in how much detail. As you watch, youll be given options to dive deeper, or maybe to look at things from a different perspective, or maybe to skip on entirely. The Technology Used to make this possible is known as object based media, or obm, and it could be the future of how we watch video content. Broadcasters have been developing the tech for years now. Bbc r d has explored the concept with various online tutorials. The step by step nature of obm is particularly useful there. Netflix has had a dabble with its puss in boots, and more recently, with Charlie Brookers interactive bandersnatch. And now, premiering the bbcs first obm tv show, is us. To say its been a tricky, brain melting minefield would be an understatement. Its a little bit like trying to pick up ants from space using tweezers with a blindfold on. These are all the plans that weve made to figure out how were going to structure this episode. And its really a bit of a beast. Being obm is really different because you have to think of the story in different ways, because people might have seen other bits of the story, seen the other bits they might have chosen different paths through the story. I have been told to create several million versions. It has taken more brainpower than any episode ive ever worked on, and more teamwork to get the thing out there. Trust me, were not talking to each other the moment. What does that stand for . Wizard. But we couldnt have done it without r ds otherworldly expertise. Matthew and his team have been devising an obm strategy for the last few years. A couple of years ago, we decided we wanted to kind of transfer this capability to create this stuff. We were busy engineering it, but we didnt have any tools. So we decided to build a story kit, essentially. Their custom made software can handle hundreds of pieces of content, like video, audio and text, and put them together on the fly, as viewers make their choices. So its a tool that is aimed at producers who have no Software Development skills, so the whole idea was to allow these people to then easily use an interface like a drag and drop interface like story former, to create those experiences. All in all, we think we have 148 different chunks of video, which to my mind makes about a gazillion different paths through the content. Theres also tons of footage, and weve used up every hard drive that we have. I suppose its been keeping me up at night, thinking are we going to get it finished in time . It really has been a challenging process, and there has been times when i had to do just that silently screams . But we think, we really think, its been worth it. Putting you in the driving seat will mean, hopefully, you at home can enjoy the show more than ever before. At the core of being able to give you all these choices is the idea of branching narratives possible options that lead onto the next bit, or reroute you to a part where the story can flow from there. To get advice on how to create a multiple choice click, i went to create one of the creators of the fighting fantasy books i grew up with, Ian Livingstone. It involves writing multiple storylines at once. And how i used to do it was create a map, which i kept a record of all the encounters as you went through the adventure. Its giving you a choice like, do you want to turn left or right, which is a simple choice, or do you want to try and tiptoe past the sleeping goblin or attack him with your sword. And the choices are quite varied. So when im writing i have to keep a record of where the reader would go. So if you make this choice, i need to make sure that they can actually get out of there, and then these are all the encounters. They find gold, they find treasure, they find magical items. Can i show you our version of an adventure map . This is the layout of this actual interview, which is multichoice. What do you think . Minimalist. Laughs. Not too many options, so we should be done in less than four hours. Because it can take you days to get through a fighting fantasy game book. Good luck on your adventure. That was Ian Livingstone talking to one of his biggest fanboys. Now, currently normal tv doesnt allow us to show you a fully interactive programme. So to give you a feel of what click obm will be like when you watch it online, weve added a dash of it to this weeks tech news. You will see some options pop up on screen. You wont be able to click them, we will do that for you. But it should give you an idea of what to expect. Heres lara. Hello and welcome to the week in tech. This week, the church of england issued its first guidelines for social media users. Its release came the same time as the archbishop of canterbury streamed his own live video. Nearly a decade ago, alphabet, that owns google, announced its balloon spin out, loon. This promised floating masts which would deliver 4g services to the worlds most remote places. Loon is now planning to launch its own trial with African Network telcom kenya. Loons balloons are each the size of a tennis court, but they need to be as they are filled with enough helium to keep them afloat while carrying solar powered networking gear. This robot bear is quite aptly called huggable. A new trail suggests it could help poorly children feel better in hospital. More than 50 sick kids took part in the study with mit media lab, Northeastern University and boston childrens hospital. The hi tech toy not only brought out more smiles, but also got the kids out of bed to be more active too. Huggable is far from the only cute robot on the block, though. In europe, this little robot even goes to school for sick children. This means they can virtually attend classes and play with their friends. And finally, an american artist has built robotic arms to let you poke, inflate and generally play around with famous paintings. Neil mendozas mechanical masterpieces is displayed at the Childrens Museum of pittsburgh. Thats it. And that is the short version of click episode 1,000 done. But, if there was ever a time to check out the long version and our special interactive version, its this week, surely. And, by the way, the machine keeps on turning. Next week, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, we will bring you click 1001 a space odyssey. Until then, on behalf of everyone who has worked on this programme and there have been many, thank you very much. Thank you for watching, thank you for taking part, and we will see you soon.
