Brussels. The Chinese Government accuses protesters who ransacked the territorys parliament of trampling the rule of law. And happy birthday to the walkman as the portable music device hits middle age this week. Welcome. Im Christian Fraser in washington, david is in london. In one hour, englands lionesses will ta ke one hour, englands lionesses will take on the reigning Champions Team usa in the semifinals of the 2019 womens world cup in lyon. They are seen as the overwhelming favourites but this is an england side full of talent, perhaps peaking atjust the right time and in the most recent meeting between these two, it was too dashed to. 2 2. Meeting between these two, it was too dashed to. 22. Ive never been there before. It is so much experience on the team so i think they have the edge in terms of that advantage but for the first time ive seen england come so far in the last four years. England fans gathered in lyon are confident. Everyone back home is a saying, its really cool, and we are, like, why are you so surprised . Its a turning point in history for womens football. Im really positive and i cant wait. We spoke to our Sports Correspondent in lyon. We are an hourfrom to our Sports Correspondent in lyon. We are an hour from kick off, to our Sports Correspondent in lyon. We are an hourfrom kick off, what has it been like in lyon today . Its been a festival of football. The usa fa ns been a festival of football. The usa fans certainly bring the colours, the stars stripes. They dress well for a football match. England are going to have to try to match them but its been building up to this first semifinal and this one feels like its the blockbuster semifinal because you do have the usa, the three time champions, defending champions, coming up against this england side who are on the up over the last four years in particular. They are looking to make a World Cup Final. They got knocked out of the euros two years ago and the world cup four years ago, in the semifinal stage they dont want to feel that pain again so there so many interesting talking points in the build up to this and the fans here in lyon have been enjoying it. Phil neville has been stressing this can do mentality, we can win this, but have you seen any grain of doubt among any american fan as to who is going to win . Some of them are feeling a little bit fearful of this english side and im not quite sure they would have expected to feel that way about england. The last time the sides met was in the cup in march and they drew then. We know tonight there has got to be a winner andi tonight there has got to be a winner and i think they are a little bit fea rful and i think they are a little bit fearful because in the lead up to destroy them and there was a lot of talk and pressure about a uac defence that was a little bit shaky usa defence that was a little bit shaky usa defence that had conceded a lot of goals. The defence has been better in this competition but this english side are as ruthless in attack. Ellen white was on five goals for the tournament, all of them going for the golden boot so i think they are a little bit fearful of ellen white and they know that lucy of ellen white and they know that lu cy bro nze of ellen white and they know that lucy bronze is going to come up against megan rubino, and phil neville is keen to point out she is the best player in the world. Neville is keen to point out she is the best player in the worldm neville is keen to point out she is the best player in the world. Is it a sell out tonight in that behind you . Yes, we are being told it is close. We are told a lot of these games are sold out and add a couple of thousand below it. It holds about 50,000 so there are a lot of fans coming. We are going to be close to a sell out and the americans have been very good and very supportive. Which way are you leaning tonight . Come on, im in the middle between england and the usa, being from ireland, you cant make me choose but if i must, i think maybe the uac will have too much pedigree for this english side, but who knows . Usa will have too much pedigree. Somebody who knows about competing on the world stage this english, rachel unichjoins on the world stage this english, rachel unich joins us and on the world stage this english, rachel unichjoins us and gemma clark. Rachel, weve got the likes of banks, charlton, hurstand rachel, weve got the likes of banks, charlton, hurst and miller to think about. Can they emulate the last england team to make a World Cup Final last england team to make a world cupfinaland win last england team to make a World Cup Final and win it . I think so. I think weve played some of the best teams in the world over the last two yea rs teams in the world over the last two years and competed and beat them. We beat them in the title mac she believes cup and got a draw so i think england can win this tournament. When phil neville took over this side 18 months ago he wa nted over this side 18 months ago he wanted his team to be playing against the best in the world and thats what hes got. Youll be able he will be able to see how they match up. Youve got to beat the best to be the best. America are the number one in the world with some tremendous players. Its going to be a tough game tonight. Phil neville will have a game plan, he will have done his game plan and he will have a plan that he thinks can beat the americans and i think the biggest threat for me is megan rapino, shes probably one of if not the player in the world at the moment and i think she will be coming up against lucy bronze and i think that will be a battle and a half and if lucy can come out on top and stop megan rapino then i think england have a great chance of winning. In washington, the star power that megan has, you certainly understand it when you talk to the fans and its that match up between her and lucy its that match up between her and lu cy bro nze its that match up between her and lucy bronze that is probably going to be the defining factor of this game. Absolutely, its all going to be taking place. I think its going to be taking place on the left flank for the us, crystal hooking up with rapino, and youve got bronze and paris on the other side, but rapino has had a phenomenal tournament and i think rachel has got it spot on, she is going to be the big threat tonight. Gemma, there is a thing about the us team perhaps above all, the sport is critically important to them and they are used to winning, but issues of equal rights as well is at the forefront, it seems what they stand for, is that fair enough . Absolutely, this team stands for equal rights, equal pay, gay rights, immigrant rights, you name it. Rapino described the team as a walking protest and as it kind of a lwa ys walking protest and as it kind of always has been in womens football, this is so much more thanjust always has been in womens football, this is so much more than just a game, this is a team that is playing that embodies the values of the american ideals of equality and truth and justice and they are such an inspirationjust truth and justice and they are such an inspiration just on and off the field. The us team are the three time champions and very much the favourites in this tournament. If the lioness is where to beat them tonight what would that mean for english football . Lioness. Tonight what would that mean for english football . Lioness. It would be phenomenal, i think the game has grew and with the success of this world cup it will only grow even more. When i used to play many yea rs even more. When i used to play many years ago, they used to have to look for sponsorship and partnerships but now companies that actually coming to the fa. You walk into a supermarket and youve got the players on bottles of budweiser and lucozade, so with the success of this tournament it will continue to grow. Rachel, give us the results. If the game plan is right, i think there will be many goals and ive done a few interviews and ive said 22 done a few interviews and ive said 2 2 full time, or england might nip it 32. Can england do it . I think they can, but i think it will be tricky, they need to test out in goal and i think rachel is right that it will be a high scoring game andl that it will be a high scoring game and i think it may go to penalties. Gemma, rachel, thank you both very much. Its a day when the country comes together as a nation, but can ijust say, ive been looking at a piece on the bbc website today, can assure you this map because what you will see is that this is a very northern team. Eight players from the north west of england, a smattering from the northeast and yorkshire, whats going on at the bottom . None from london, none from the south west or the east. We are a nation, young man they are all english if we win. It has been a marathon and a very tetchy effort but in the last hour of the leaders of the European Union have finally agreed on who they want to ta ke have finally agreed on who they want to take the top jobs for the next five years. Eu leaders have been heckling since sunday over who should fill the four most important roles, juggling affiliation, nationality, geography and gender. The nominations are German Defence minister ursula for the top post of European Commission chief, she is the former German Defence minister, the former German Defence minister, the belgian Prime Minister to lead the belgian Prime Minister to lead the european council, the former imf boss christine le guard as president of the European Central bank and the spanish forest minister foreign minister to be representative for Foreign Policy, effectively the eus Foreign Policy, effectively the eus Foreign Policy, effectively the eus Foreign Policy chief. Here is donald tusk talking about the results. Five yea rs tusk talking about the results. Five years ago we needed three months to decide and still some leaders were against. This year it was three days and nobody was against. Even if germany abstained on the Commission President due to some issues in the government coalition, Angela Merkel supported the package. First and foremost, we have chosen to women and two men for the four key positions. A perfect gender balance. Earlier today, the new European Parliament sat for the first time. A smooth start it was not. Members of Nigel Farages brexit parties staged this protest as they turned their backs and face the wall during the european anthem. There was also a demonstration by catalan nationalists as their meps were barred. Lets get the latest from brussels who has been watching. Its been quite a torturous affair, gavin, what is given, where has the compromise been . The most important job, 306,000 euros a year, 350,000, not a bad salary plus 30,000 staff and you get a seat at the World Leaders table. That is the European Commission and comes with a package, theyve got to make sure that between the political alliances across europe, the centre right, the socialists, and greens, they all have one of the top five jobs, the others at the president of the european council, the president of parliament, the Foreign Affairs chief and head of European Central bank. They have different packages and different manoeuvres and up until yesterday evening, the new Commission President was going to be the dutch socialist, the current president of the European Commission. Today, it was much aired this morning that ursula von der leyen should be the name put forward because in a political bracket she isa because in a political bracket she is a centre right, the first female defence minister of germany, spent some time in london at the London School of economics and she is thought to be quite a good diplomat and its something you mentioned geographically, east and west, the Eastern Countries had a problem with Franz Timmerman over running the countries of poland and hungary. We heard donald tusk say a short while ago, 27 leaders including theresa may all agreed with ursula von der leyen and other candidates for the topjobs, but leyen and other candidates for the top jobs, but germany, leyen and other candidates for the topjobs, but germany, her own country, abstained which means a no vote against her because of domestic politics and the socialist former leader and head of the European Parliament Martin Schultz said i cannot abide this women and forced Angela Merkel to abstain. It looks like she will be the first president of the European Commission. First female president. There was some suggestion she would come up with this plan of Franz Timmerman in 0saka this plan of Franz Timmerman in 0sa ka and that this plan of Franz Timmerman in osaka and that would have been the epp are not happy about it so not a very edifying position for Angela Merkel, quite humiliating when the dust settles. The world is waiting to see what happens next in hong kong. Yesterday, pro democracy protesters stormed the legislative chamber even raising the British Colonial flag and painting pro democracy slogans on the walls and Police Responded to that with tear gas. The territorys leader condemned the extreme use of violence and vandalism, language that was matched today by the Chinese Government. They have called for a zero tolerance approach to the protesters. The its worth having a look at how the democratic process works in hong kong. The territorys Legislative Council is made up of 70 members, 35 of whom are directly elected, a public vote under proportional representation. The other 35 are indirectly selected via limited electorate, and those seats are more likely to be supportive of the chief executive who is in turn a nswera ble to the chief executive who is in turn answerable to the Chinese Government. Ive been talking to fernando chung, a hong kong legislator who supports the Pro Democracy Movement and he was on the spot when activists force their way inside the building. What sort of response did you get from those protesters at the point at which you tried to urge them not to do this . Physically, they tackled me and they basically pushed me away andi me and they basically pushed me away and i was overpowered but i think in terms of reasoning, they are telling me that this is too late for reasoning, this is too late for any other types of action. They asked wood 3 Million People taking to the street make a difference would it make a difference. You have told the oh heard that some had different intentions but would you think that isa intentions but would you think that is a reasonable supposition at this moment. By and large, i think there isa moment. By and large, i think there is a very strong sentiment about young people here that they really wa nt to young people here that they really want to do something, they want to escalated further so that they have to make the government respond. I dont think any small number of people can manipulate the entire movement and make hundreds of people, making efforts to storm into the legislature. You had 22 years in which things had gotten democratically weaker and there is a feeling, particularly among the young, that you are raging against the dying of the light, its all going away. Its true and i think they are very reasonable in not giving and because the communist regime has never given that to us and we know that its almost impossible to ask for a dictatorship to allow democracy within its own country and they looked at the umbrella movement, they looked at it earlier and its never succeeded, so yes, i think they are correct in that they are totally frustrated, they dont see any way out, they are totally desperate and they want to do something and this is something that they can think of. Im joined that they can think of. Imjoined in that they can think of. Im joined in the studio by meredith sumpter, she is head of strategy at the Eurasia Group. In many ways, this is a leaderless protest. What does that mean in essence in the direction that the protest goes next . Fascinating question because it really gets to the heart of how this protest movement is so different from other protest movements that weve seen. The protesters are communicating with each other via forms and messaging apps. Each other via forms and messaging apps, its very democratic in a sense where they have been able to put forth ideas and vote on what they want to do next but there is a real wea kness they want to do next but there is a real weakness in the structure too and without an overarching leadership structure, without someone leadership structure, without someone guiding the protest, the movement can actually be divided and thats exactly what weve seen happen here, you had half1 million protesters who were peacefully at work with their protest movement at the same time as we had a Smaller Group of protests that felt that theiraims group of protests that felt that their aims will be better met if they stormed the legislative and we re they stormed the legislative and were able to focus hong kongs leaderships attention to their demands, which are slightly different from those of the Larger Movement so in a way that allows the chief executive to be able to not a nswer to chief executive to be able to not answer to all demands of the protest movement and thats exactly what weve seen her do over the past couple of weeks. Is there a certain na ivety couple of weeks. Is there a certain naivety on the part of these protesters who have been on the streets . Protesters who have been on the streets . A lot of them are very young and their focal point wont be on things like Tiananmen Square which is a focal point for the older generation and how ruthlessly that demonstration was crushed in china. Do they think that they are above that sort of repression from china and have they walked into a trap here . They have grown up in a hong kong that has never known rule outside of its own self Autonomous System and what they are saying is when 2047 happens, that they want their way of life, the rule of law, their way of life, the rule of law, the autonomy that they have grown to know, to continue to exist and if they dont fight in this manner, they dont fight in this manner, they are not confident that they will be able to achieve that, but the key question here is, what can we expect moving forward . Is the chief executive going to keep her job . Well the intensity of the movement continue . What we see at Eurasia Group is with the on board meetings with the legislative having been cancelled, the legislative will go into recess until october so this will allow for a bit of a cooling off period and both sides will take this period of time to reassess where they are, their goals and their tactics. The key risk is in 0ctober their tactics. The key risk is in october when the legislative will go back into recession and it could place carrie lam and her administration into a position where they may try to tighten policy through the Legislative Council and the protesters will not take kindly to that, so we will be watching that moving forward. Do you want to feel really old . The walkman turned 40 this week, four decades ago that sony gave us the power to listen to music on the go. I remember it will because i couldnt afford one. The problem is, our childrens generation dont even know what we are talking about, as evidenced by this lot who were trying to work out what to do with it ive no idea what it is. What do ido . It ive no idea what it is. What do i do . Press play . I dont know what it does. Spoiled rotten i remember having a ferguson cassette recorder and i thought i was quite cool. They have no idea. They are amazing. They wont even know. My children dont even know what tapes are. The fact we used to sit there recording the top 20 hits and trying to stop it before the dj started to speak, then you slotted it into your walkman, put your earphones on, amazing this is the problem with growing old, things that we think are part of our era are now considered antiques. Things that we think are part of our era are now considered antiqueslj went era are now considered antiques. went to a vintage fair last weekend, they had cars on show that i thought we re they had cars on show that i thought were just cars they had cars on show that i thought werejust cars on they had cars on show that i thought were just cars on show there was no vintage for me thats the way it goes. This is beyond 100 days. Coming up, when it comes to saving the planet, our banks ready to do their bit . And tens of thousands are expected for the womens semifinal. Millions more to watch on tv. Well be talking to some fans as well. Thats all still to come. Plenty of fine weather in the days ahead, we will see some fair weather cloud a lot like this developing from time to time, but not really anything significant in the way of rain in the next five days aside from across scotland on thursday, more than that in a moment. The reason it sets as this area of High Pressure a cross reason it sets as this area of High Pressure across the uk all the way from the as yours. It is tied in with fair weather for the uk from the as yours. It is tied in with fair weatherfor the uk in summertime. Clear skies into the small hours of wednesday will allow things to turn quite chilly in some rural parts of south wales, across Northern England over Higher Ground and fog southern scotland, lows of three orfour celsius. And fog southern scotland, lows of three or four celsius. 0n and fog southern scotland, lows of three or four celsius. On wednesday, plenty of sunshine from the get go, perhaps Early Morning mist and fog across east anglia which should clear quickly. A warm front tries to push into the Northern Area of High Pressure on wednesday, meaning thicker cloud for northern scotland and perhaps more persistent rain for and perhaps more persistent rain for a time across the Western Isles and the highlands. To the south of the fine weather continues, an interrupted play for wimbledon, perhaps more overcast later in the day. The high stays so itll wednesday into thursday stays so strong. A breezy day for scotland on thursday, heavy rain to the northwest, perhaps even the best pa rt northwest, perhaps even the best part ofan northwest, perhaps even the best part of an inch of rain. More showery to the east. Hot to the south, 26 in the southeast of london. We could see a similar high on friday before this cold front sinks south, not delivering much in the way of rainfall but it will move us the way of rainfall but it will move us all into fresher air by the time we get into the start of the weekend with a northerly breeze. A does the outlook, for friday, a few showers as weatherfront clears for scotland but then cooler feel for saturday, just 12 celsius in aberdeen and what a contrast for london, saturday, 22, last year it was last week it was three orfour at last year it was last week it was three or four at heathrow three orfour this is beyond 100 days. Our top stories, there is just this is beyond 100 days. Our top stories, there isjust half an hour to go until englands lionesses take on the usa for a place in the final of the world cup. It is an exciting time, especially for me, my first semifinal, and i cant wait to go up against the best. The Chinese Government condemns protesters who vandalised the hong kong government. Also on the programme, when it comes to saving the planet, our company is ready to do their bit . We look at the uk governments green finance strategy. Plus, why Indigenous People living in the amazon ra i nfo rest People Living in the amazon rainforest three of their livelihoods are under threat following a change in government policy. The democrats to candidates are heading to our you work for this weekendsjuly heading to our you work for this weekends july before heading to our you work for this weekendsjuly before the celebrations with a lot of focus on the new polls which are out. After two televised debate in miami, the lead has narrowed considerably. There are signs that rival camps have also seen some big Second Quarters in terms of fundraising. Their war chest which each candidate accumulates and is so important when you are challenging the incumbent. Indeed it is. And they will need every dollar because of the president has hit the ground running. The figures out today for his re Election Campaign are impressive. In the Second Quarter of 2019, the campaign and the committee raised 105 million. Break that number down and you will see that his camp was responsible for 54 million of that, which shows he still pulls in the big donors. Lets get the thoughts of a former adviser to george w bush. I am liking being on the left side of the screen. Welcome to the side of the pond. Member of the Campaign Team said last week, i dont look at the polling, i look at the many. It is the mother milk of politics. Many makes the whole system go around, because you can put out teams across the United States to hand out leaflets, to knock on doors, to engage citizens so that people have heard of your candidate, they know what the message is. That is what is going on in New Hampshire and iowa. If you have got the money, you have got the resources and you can put people in the field. I want to look at the polling on the democratic side because it is interesting after the two debates in miami. This is one from iowa which came out today. You see thatjoe biden is on 24 . He has a reasonably healthy lead. But the National Polls are starting to get tighterfor the National Polls are starting to get tighter for him and the National Polls are starting to get tighterfor him and it is the National Polls are starting to get tighter for him and it is that second name, harris, 16 , she has had a very good few weeks. She was introduced to a lot of americans and a lot of people around the globe at that debate but i would caution you on this, National Polls are just that. What is interesting is those early Battle Ground states. New hampshire, iowa and south carolina. Ifi hampshire, iowa and south carolina. If i was hampshire, iowa and south carolina. Ifiwasa hampshire, iowa and south carolina. If i was a democrat and i was on that list, i would be more focused on what the numbers are in those key states rather than the standing at a national level. On these numbers, we know they are staggering, they a lwa ys know they are staggering, they always are, they just know they are staggering, they always are, theyjust get bigger, but if these democratic hopefuls are prepared to muster and spend the best pa rt prepared to muster and spend the best part of 1 billion just to come to the conclusion as to who is going to the conclusion as to who is going to stand against donald trump, is there not a better way for a party to run it finances . Good evening. I happen to agree with you 100 on this. The notion that we are in a billion dollar election cycle. When i worked for george w bush, we were the primary at the general election with a little bit more than 300 million. Now candidates are raising millions of dollars and there are several of them out there, and a lot of americans are becoming cynical by the notion that you have to pay to play in order to get elected in the United States, so they has got to be a better way, but unfortunately, with our 2 party a better way, but unfortunately, with our 2 party system a better way, but unfortunately, with our 2 party system of governance , with our 2 party system of governance, i dont see one in the near future. That is almost the point, and the ability to raise lots of small amounts of money get easier and easier as technology develops. There is no question of that and the president who tapped into that was barack 0bama. His chief strategist was able to harness people, can you give 5, 10 . And Bernie Sanders did exactly the same thing. If you can mobilise people to chip in a little bit here, a little bit there, it adds up. Bernie sanders, 22 million in quarter two. 93 of those were 100 or less. There when i want to look at, and people know i am fixated with this guy from a small city in indiana going all the way, but look at the money he has raised, 24 point 8 million in the Second Quarter, incredible. It is staggering. He is fluent in so many language, people are looking for a fresh look, not your stereotypical politician, and i think he comes across as an earnest midwest who has across as an earnest midwest who has a different take on the political landscape. To the serious stuff. Oh, no. The big one. You are slightly cocky about tonights match. no. The big one. You are slightly cocky about tonights match. I am never cocky, i am always confident andl never cocky, i am always confident and i am confident that team usa will pull out a win. You know where he is taking me tomorrow . He is taking me to, let me get this right, the ball game. No, a baseball game. I know nothing about baseball. We will see you tomorrow. i know nothing about baseball. We will see you tomorrow. I am looking forward to it. The way to tackle our Global Climate crisis is pretty simple, we have to reduce the Greenhouse Gas emissions to as near as zero as possible as soon as to as near as zero as possible as soon as possible. If the country is going to meet the target by 2050, they will need to be some wholesale changes in the way we live. And that is going to cost lots of money, which means that the change will have to be driven in part by the Financial Sector and today the government has launched its green finance strategy to increase investment in sustainable projects. Iamjoined by investment in sustainable projects. I am joined by the uk parliamentary adviser on Financial Market Climate Change risks. Just explain a little bit more about what this means. Is this an opportunity to see where banks are investing and how much of that investment is actually climate good versus climate bad . Exactly. The uk government has committed to a net zero by 2000 and 50, that is for the uk emissions, 1 of global emissions, but in london we finance a 15 of global emissions, so the government is absolutely right today, the finance sector is really important in this, hundreds of trillions of pounds at the moment invested in fossil fuels that have got to go completely by 2050, we have got to have them by 2030, and we need investment in Green Infrastructure to make this work. What the government did not get right today is the fact that they have been incredibly weak on how we are going to make that change, how are going to make that change, how are we going to force banks and multinational companies. Force is the word you used because they approach is the opposite. Make it volu nta ry approach is the opposite. Make it voluntary and it might work. The government said today that until 2022 at least it will be voluntary disclosure from banks, they are just going to ask them to tell us what their risks are. That does not go farenough, it is their risks are. That does not go far enough, it is a climate emergency, and we have got to shift trillions of dollars from fossil fuels into Green Infrastructure sol would like to see mandatory disclosure right away. It makes sense, particularly when you look at the 15 times bigger emissions that the 15 times bigger emissions that the city of london finances compared to the uk alone. Katie, how would the banks do this . What tools could they use . Could they offer loans to those companies that are more responsible with a lower interest rate, Something Like that . Absolutely. There is all sorts of innovation being talked about and there was a Green Finance Institute established today to collaborate on things like remortgages, green bonds, green loans, which are all really exciting, but if you go on a diet, you cant just really exciting, but if you go on a diet, you cantjust eat salad, you have got to stop eating doughnuts, andl have got to stop eating doughnuts, and i think the government has got to regulate out the fossil fuel and the banks are never going to move away from that because in the short term they are making profits. The governor of the bank of england, mark carney, has said there is a 200 trillion bubble. We have five times more fossil fuel on the Balance Sheets of company than we could ever burn if we are to stay safe and that is something that government and regulators have got to deal with because the banks arent going to deal with it on their own. Was this talking they could talk today or is the uk actually leading the way in this sort of approach, this sort of thinking . Where does the uk fit on the Global Landscape . The uk is doing really well, actually. We are one of the leaders, we are the first country in the g7 to commit to net zero, we have got a green finance strategy, so they recognise the issue, but unfortunately, we have got to move so much faster than what we are doing at the moment because we are doing at the moment because we have only got ten years to have emissions, and at the moment they are still going up. There is no discernible shift in capital despite there being 1300 people from the city there today all talking about this. We are not seeing the capital shifting quite yet. Thank you very much for now. You are not going to enjoy the next piece either because Indigenous People living in the amazon rainforest are reporting of threats to their survival as the reserves they rely on come and grab ado reserves they rely on come and grab a do attack. They believe ever greater attack. Right now there are nearly 700 protected areas for indigenous groups within the rainforest with around 900,000 People Living there. I went science editor has been to see one group which fears for its future and there are statistics in davids report which you might find disturbing. The Indigenous People of the forest feel the need to defend themselves. This man has dark memories of the first violent contact with the outside world in the middle of the last century. His wife was wounded asa last century. His wife was wounded as a young girl. An attack left her with scars and killed her family. There is a long history of conflict over land and she says she is now worried once more. There are tiny band ofjust 120 there are tiny band ofjust120 and they have never been so vulnerable. They are making an ink that is used asa they are making an ink that is used as a war paint. They feel the new government of brazil is against them and that they have to be on guard. So they patrol what is meant to be a protected reserve but they discover incursions, like this track carved out to steal timber or create new forms. This is where they gather food and hunt. They used to be seen as guardians of the forest. Now they say invaders are encouraged by the new president of brazil. Farmers are already pressing against the dark green edge of the reserve and the president says they should be allowed to use it, that Indigenous People have too much land. 0ur Indigenous People have too much land. Our research with satellite pictures of the region reveals over the past 20 years how quickly trees can be wiped out. This is the forest. I show the people of the reserve the view from space of what they are experiencing on the ground. With all this farmland all around you and you are about there, just in that little corner. With all these pressures, tensions are escalating. Shots were fired at are escalating. Shots were fired at a sign marking the reserve. These farmers live just down the road and like their president they want access to the forest. So, two very different views of the future of this land. The farmers with they feel is right beside the Indigenous People in the forest. The fate of the children here is uncertain. They are learning traditional skills and they have rights under brazilian law but they are outnumbered and powerful forces are outnumbered and powerful forces are circling outside. I have just read are circling outside. I havejust read on davids are circling outside. I have just read on davids twitter feed, deforestation rose by almost 60 in the month ofjune compared to the same period last year. That is 760 Square Kilometres gone in one month. It tells you the scale of the challenge they are facing. A fire challenge they are facing. Afire on challenge they are facing. Police are trying to identify the body of a man who fell from a canyon ina and body of a man who fell from a canyon in a and landed in a garden in south west london. 0fficers believe he fell from the landing gear compartment as it came into land at heathrow on sunday. Coming into land at heathrow on sunday but minutes earlier, from beneath this plane, a body had fallen to the ground. The man fell thousands of feet into a garden in clapham. A small crater visible. It isa clapham. A small crater visible. It is a desperate act to stow away on a plane and he didnt survive. The body, described as an ice block, just missed a man who was sunbathing ina just missed a man who was sunbathing in a garden. The flight left nairobi on sunday morning at 719, at the start of a nine hour, 4000 mile trip. It was at 3500 feet when the body fell. The plane flying over 0fferton road and landing at heathrow just six 0fferton road and landing at heathrowjust six minutes later. This has happened in the past. I have heard about it happening in richmond. It is quite frightening. Poor chap. A bbc documentary about a man who fell to his death in 2012 showed how stowaways get into aircraft. He would have had to climb up aircraft. He would have had to climb up as quickly as possible along this piece of metal and then into this wheel arch. The temperature is down to 60 wheel arch. The temperature is down to 60 celsius and the oxygen is not enough to sustain life so the stowaway will pass out at about 20,000 feet and then they will die about 30,000 feet. And then on the approach to land, the gear comes down, they will probably fall out of the aircraft and fall of their death if they are not already dead the aircraft and fall of their death if they are not already dead. A bag, water and some food were discovered by the landing gear. They were not enough to keep the stowaway alive. Ten minutes to go before you have got to hold your own over there. There is a crowd of we reckon 50,000 also expected in lyon for the semifinal of the womens world cup. Millions will be watching on tv, certainly around the uk. Hundreds of pubs planning world cup parties. Im guessing most of them will be in the north. Yes, because most of the team from the north. 0ne north. Yes, because most of the team from the north. One of them will be in liverpool, home of Nikita Parris. We visited her Primary School to find out where it all began. And that is the confidence she has got. She is making her name on the world stage but Nikita Parris began her career at the grassroots on the pitch at Saint Patricks primary way, today, Girls Football is alive and kicking. And they all idolise the same lioness. Nicky tech, because she is an excellent role model for all girls around the world. She used to be here playing and look where she is now. It makes me think that if she has come from way we have, maybe we can be like her one day. The support from Saint Patricks and from all over england means a lot to the player. It is unbelievable to see so many young girls, young boys, men, women across the nation supporting the lionesses, and long may it continue because there is so much to come from this group of players and the next generation as well. The lionesses are already poster girls in their home cities but as they are following has increased, so too has the amount of high profile support. Lam the amount of high profile support. I am really looking forward to tonight. Millions of people are watching. Good luck, girls. Come on, england. Iwant watching. Good luck, girls. Come on, england. I want to wish the lionesses a massive good luck. Everyone in the country is behind you. You have done fantastic so far, you. You have done fantastic so far, you are doing the country proud, keep believing and keep the dream alive. Lionesses, you have never been more prepared, more focused, more ready to give your best performance tonight. I really believe you can do it. Show everyone what you have got. Tonights tv audience is expected to great records and the fa counts football as the top participation sport for women and girls in england. There is a real buzz in womens football. It is so equal now, which it should be. There are a lot of opportunities for girls in the professional game as well. At Saint Patricks sports day today, the obstacle race was popular, but tonight it will be the football that everyone is following. Come on, england yes, and they will be millions watching in the United States, of course. Lets go to the pub. Are you feeling lucky . I have to say, christian, i have done a very scientific poll of this perp and everyone i have spoken to is very excited and very confident that the us will come out on top. There is just a slight bit of trepidation, i would say, over the fa ct trepidation, i would say, over the fact that the forward Megan Rapinoe will not be starting. A few people have said they are slightly worried about that but they hope it is a good tactical decision. Megan rapinoe has been the key scorer throughout this tournament, especially in those knockout stages, and in the United States she has lots of friends. I spoke to one young female soccer player, Football Player as you would say, who has really enjoyed this tournament and how it has encouraged so many of her generation to be involved in this sport. Certainly, we have seen so much more coverage this time around. It really does feel like womens football is coming out of the shadows. Megan rapinoe on the bench sounds like a good start from where iam sounds like a good start from where i am sitting and i am also glad to be on this side of the water when i say there are plenty of commentators over here who will describe the us tea m over here who will describe the us team as a cynical, as arrogant. Is that the winning formula . Is that how they are seen . I think there is a lot of pride here that the us team does have that confidence, that swagger. They were a few people that spoke about how they do want the team to be careful to be branded as arrogant, not to come off that way, but the United States has dominated in this game, winning the last three world cups, aiming fortheir winning the last three world cups, aiming for theirfourth. And certainly there is a lot of respect for englands team and how far they have come and that they might be a match for the United States, but i also hear a lot of pride, people are really brushing off the criticism that the team is arrogant and just excited to see how they do today. You dont get on this programme and get away without forecasting the result. What do you reckon . I dont want to be singled out here so i dont want to be singled out here soiam i dont want to be singled out here so i am going to go with the United States, hoping for that. What is the bar called . Is it cool . What is at the bar called . It is called the lucky bar, isnt it . This is the lucky bar in washington, dc. It isa is the lucky bar in washington, dc. It is a sports bar. Lots of lucky people in the lucky bar this afternoon. I will be going down there with ron christie, into the lions den with the lionesses. I just hope they win. You could be the lucky one. They have got a bar full of americans. Do your bit. I am going in my tie, i am not going in the shirt. I dont want to push my luck. We will see how we get on. We will talk tomorrow. We could see a similar high on friday before this cold front sinks its way south.
