Microphone is on the camera so he is getting a brilliant job microphone is on the camera so he is getting a brilliantjob to get these pictures. It is different from the first meeting when we saw them at a distance, the two men walking together when they met for the first time and conversing together and clearly they are comfortable and each others company. We have our correspondence who is keeping track of these events for us. Are we learning anything more about exactly what it is these two men intend to talk about . What people expect to come out of the meeting is just some sort of momentum, some sort of movement again, because the whole process has stalled. This is symbolic and some will criticise and it has been nothing more than window dressing because there is no sort of agenda if you like for the meeting. They cobble this together in the last 2a hours. But it could be said that any talk is better than no talk and trying to get momentum going again to try to kick start talks one once more. Again to try to kick start talks one once more. Sorry, we are going to interact here. I want to thank him for Something Else. When i put out the social media notification if he didnt chew up the press was going to make me look very bad so you may does both look great we developed a great relationship. Go back to and have years and prior to my becoming president it was a very bad and dangerous situation for south korea, north korea, and the world. The relationship that we have developed has been so much to so many people and it is an honour to be with you and it is an honour to be with you and it is an honour to be with you and it was an honour to step over that line and i was proud to. I thought you might do that. I wasnt sure, but i was ready to do it, and i want to thank you. Very historic. This could be a very historic moment andl this could be a very historic moment and i guess that is what it is. I enjoy being with you and thank you very much. Another handshake between the two men. There has been a lot of that in the last 20 minutes or so. It is absolutely fascinating, this whole idea of diplomacy through social media, which President Trump referred to himself. He said in a tweet i am going to be in the area if you fancy a quick chat. Witnessing that moment of history. Diplomacy in the digital age. It is an astonishing moment to see that twitter diplomacy worked out like that. I did not expect that much. As we discussed earlier trump massages the atmosphere by thanking under that short notice and it shows to me that short notice and it shows to me that they really want to keep this relationship and negotiation. When it comes down to the working level that could be a different story. It could be really difficult for them to follow and keep this moment. It will be even more critical time after this meeting. Both men will be acutely aware of their place in history, as to be there all politicians are, and there are democratic debates going on for the next president ial candidate for the democrats but President Trump will also have one eye focused on his own campaign and a couple of years. Yes. It isjust 2020. Campaign and a couple of years. Yes. It is just 2020. Just around the corner. He is the one who knows how to use this approach. I believe this photo, shaking hands and crossing the border, could work well for his side. If we are practical and we know that this is not more than a photo opportunity. Hopefully they can have more tangible discussion in the future. Still on a brighter position than they were even a few days ago in terms of relations. The feed has ceased from south korea from the demilitarised zone. I think looking at the indication on the feed recorded pictures of that historic moment as the walked over, i think the feat has finished so i do not think we can expect much more out of north korea. From your point of view, as a woman, as a south korean watching this, what is your curtsying and korean watching this, what is your cu rtsying and response korean watching this, what is your curtsying and response to these pictures . Does it make you feel optimistic for the future . Individually i am still very doubtful because trump is the person who has been very irrational and even when he became president , from my reading, it is said that trump didnt want to become president after all. All of these changes show to me that how much i could trust his willingness for this denuclearisation process and the peace of the potentially or is there anything behind the scenes that he has his own agenda . Way i kinda felt like i am not going to to be surprised if, even though i see trump tower built there one day, as a south korean i think it is not only about trump and kim jong un it is about surrounding countries working together. It has been a moment of history. A sitting american president stepping onto north korean soil this morning. Thank you for the insight you have brought to us. We have kept you here for a long brought to us. We have kept you here fora longtime. We are grateful to you for giving us your insight. Investigations are continuing after a woman, who was around eight months pregnant, was stabbed to death in croydon. Her baby, who was delivered at the scene, is still critically ill in hospital. It was one of two fatal stabbings in the capital in 2a hours. A man in his late 20s died from knife wounds in east london last night. Lets get the latest now from our reporterjohn mcmanus. John, what more can you tell us . In south London Police and paramedics were called to the property behind me at 3 30am yesterday morning and found a 26 year old women eight months pregnant who had been stabbed and u nfortu nately pregnant who had been stabbed and unfortunately she died at the scene. Paramedics were able to save her child who was taken to hospital and remains ina child who was taken to hospital and remains in a Critical Condition. The Police Officer leading the investigation says it is horrific and is appealing for any witnesses oi and is appealing for any witnesses or anybody who can help them put together the sequence of events that may have led to the stabbing. A37 year old man has been arrested and in custody, on suspicion of murder. Police say they are keeping an open mind in terms of the motive for this attack and this is one of two incidents in london this weekend. The other one in east london where a man in his 20s was stabbed to death is also a murder investigation. Thank you. Jeremy corbyn is demanding an inquiry after two Civil Servants reportedly told a National Newspaper he was too frail to lead the party and become Prime Minister. The comments were reported in the times yesterday. Mr corbyn denied the claims and said it was concerning for everyone that senior officials were briefing a newspaper against a politician. Lets get the latest now from our Political Correspondent tom barton. To say thatJeremy Corbyn is annoyed about this would be an understatement. Absolutely. There we re q u otes understatement. Absolutely. There were quotes from what the paper described as two senior civil serva nts described as two senior Civil Servants on the front page of the times yesterday suggesting that mr corbin is frail, is being propped up by those around him and is not functioning on all cylinders. The bbc has not managed to speak to those sources. They were coated and anonymously and the times and the labour leader has insisted he is fit, active and loves being outdoors. He has also gone a step further calling for an investigation into whether Civil Servants are briefing newspapers against him and issuing best warning to those in white who might seek to undermine him. The idea that Civil Servants should be briefing newspapers against an elected politician, against an elected politician, against an elected politician, against a prospective government, is something that should be very concerning to a lot of people. The Civil Service has to be independent, has to be nonpolitical, and has to be non judgemental. Has to be nonpolitical, and has to be nonjudgemental. This has been a difficult week for the labour leadership is yet more rows about brexit and anti semitism and Jeremy Corbyn seems to be taking this opportunity to rally his troops by turning his fire on those he sees as the political establishment who want to undermine his left wing project. Its thought as many as four Million People will have descended on the streets of new york this weekend to celebrate the citys annual lgbt pride. The festivities follow a series of events which have taken place throughout this week to mark the 50th anniversary of the iconic stonewall riots. The protests in 1969 are still seen by many as the start of the International Gay rights movement. It is, of course, devastating when a child dies. But, to add to the heartache, many families find it imossible to cover the funeral costs. Well, from next month, that should no longer happen because, from the end ofjuly, Funeral Directors and local authorities will be able to bill the government, rather than grieving families. It follows a Long Campaign by the mp carolyn harris, who struggled to cover the costs after losing her son martin. Shejoins us from our swansea studio. Were also joined by clare laxton from the charity clic sargent, which has also been pushing for this scheme. It is worth pointing out that the situation where you are in wales is slightly different, also in scotland, and there is no project applies to england. Yes. The Welsh Government had introduced a Childrens Funeral Fund within six months of me first mentioning it and scotla nd months of me first mentioning it and scotland came on board later and local authorities in Northern Ireland did that by bet but there we haveit ireland did that by bet but there we have it across the uk. Can you tell us have it across the uk. Can you tell us about your tragic circumstances, losing your son and the situation you find yourself in . I was a dinner lady at the time and my husband worked on the railway, he was a manual worker, and we lost martin in june 1989 ina manual worker, and we lost martin in june 1989 in a Road Accident com pletely june 1989 in a Road Accident completely unexpected. We give him the best funeral that we could and within three weeks of the funeral we had the bell, which at the time was four 1750 i think and we just did not have the money. The local community had a wet brand and give us community had a wet brand and give us £1000 and my husband went to the bank and borrowed 700 and 50p and thatis bank and borrowed 700 and 50p and that is how we paid for the funeral. You have been supporting this campaign as well. That was 1989. How common is that situation today . Hugely common. We support children and young people with cancer and their families, often going through many years of treatment and families accruing lots of debt on the way, so if the worst happens and their child dies and they get asked for £3000 or £4000 in funeral expenses it is heartbreaking so theres fund is so important for these families and to know they will not have to struggle in the future is really important. It is not the kind of thing you ever plan for. Absolutely. One parent said to as you do not have a savings account for your childs funeral. 0ne account for your childs funeral. One parent asked her sons Football Team to check in. People try to get money as much as they can but it is devastating for families. While the cost of going up going up and up because we have seen that . Absolutely. Costs vary across the country and this fund is designed to make sure that no family has to face those costs when they are planning their childs funeral. Can you explain how this fund will work . It ta kes explain how this fund will work . It takes it completely. The family does not have to worry. Not at all. My does not have to worry. Not at all. My understanding is that undertakers and local authorities would make the claim directly from the government and the parents will never be asked to make the contribution and daughterfor the to make the contribution and daughter for the funeral. In a situation such as the one you find yourself end, nothing can ever lighten the grief or anything else, but at least it takes one terrible heartache away. It does. I have heard from too many parents who have spent so much time worrying about the price and it has prevented them from breathing because of the worry. Grieving. My son martin has a legacy and we have done Something Wonderfulfor parents of legacy and we have done Something Wonderful for parents of the united kingdom. You should be immensely proud of that. This also applies to families of children who are stillborn. Their families will be able to get that support as well and have the space to grieve without the financial worry. You touched on it at the very end but a legacy for martin. You must be very proud. Im sorry. I did not mean to. |j would like to think so. Thank you. If you are just if you arejustjoining us, this morning we have watched some historic pictures of President Trump meeting kimjong historic pictures of President Trump meeting kim jong the demilitarised zone but over on the north korean side, the first time a sitting us president has been to north korea. They shook hands and came back over to the south korean side to meet privately and conduct talks. We will keep you up to date with developments from there. It was a Beautiful Day across the country yesterday and weve had some lovely pictures sent in by our weather watchers. This picture of two pigs enjoying the sunshine in ampleforth, north yorkshire, was sent in by high lions. And this picture entitled walking with bertie shows a dog cooling down in water in st ives, cambridgeshire. And this photo was taken in mellor, greater manchester. Its of a well dressing which is an ancient tradition found in the Peak District area. Heres sarah with a look at this mornings weather. Is that from this morning . It is. This is this morning in northamptonshire. Beautiful blue sky with lots of sunshine. Similar to yesterday but not the temperature because yesterday temperatures reached 34 celsius in london, the hottest day of the year so far. For many of us there will be dry and fairly sunny weather on the cards but not everywhere. All the heat and humidity that was with us in the first part of the night has been squeezed away towards the east and it is still very hot across europe. In the uk we have this westerly breeze. Not as hot. Plenty of sunshine for the eastern half of scotla nd sunshine for the eastern half of scotland and much of england and wales. It will cloud overfurther north west later today. A few showers for Northern Ireland and the west of scotland. There could be a rumble of thunder in the far north west but further south and east temperatures up to about 25 degrees in the warmest sports. Typically the high teens are low 20s in scotland and Northern Ireland. The odd rumble of thunder through the first half of the night. A few showers pushing into parts of north west england and Northern Ireland but further south in a largely clear and dry night and much more comfortable for sleeping. The week ahead is fairly settled with a lot of dry weather and spells of sunshine. It will feel warm but not as hot as it has been and there will be some showers on the cards but mostly towards the north west of the uk because we have High Pressure towards the south west and low pressure in the north east and in between a north westerly flow of air bringing a few fronts at times. Showery rain across the north west of scotla nd showery rain across the north west of scotland on monday and the odd shower into Northern Ireland and perhaps north wales but for the rest of england and wales you should stay dry during the day. Decent spells of sunshine. A touch cooler compared to today but temperature is 16 to 20 degrees which is typical for this time of year. Settle dry theme continues for the rest of the working week with one or two showers. Temperatures not as hot as they were but a little above average for the time of year. Looking dry at least for the start of wimbledon. Lots more on that to come tomorrow. It used to be one of the dominant species on our sea bed, but, thanks to historic over fishing, disease and pollution, the native oysters been in sharp decline. Now, fishermen off the essex coast have joined forces with academics, conservationists and the government. Its all part of a large project to help save the species, by creating a sanctuary for mother oysters. 0ur science correspondent Richard Westcott went to see it. Its not the easiest way to make a living, freezing cold and pouring with rain despite the fact that its summer, but theyve been fishing oysters off the essex coast here for 2,000 years. Up there is a creek that runs all the way and thats all oyster ground. Its been used for hundreds of years. The uks seabed was once littered with native oysters, but around 95 of them have gone. Pollution, disease, a loss of habitat all decimated their numbers. Historically, theyve been overfished too, but not by oystermen like alan, who is part of a project to help bring them back. Im not a fisherman. Im an oyster grower very, very different. We work with the seabed. We work with nature. We dont smash and grab. Hes just helped lay britains biggest protected area for native oysters. It may look like a pile of stones to you and me, but its heaven for the oysters, who love to settle on the pebbles. The oystermen have joined forces with scientists and conservationists to rehouse female oysters so they can breed in peace. This is what this project is all about taking the mother oysters and giving them a new home in the sanctuary below. I describe it as a journey. Were starting out now. Were getting the seabed ready, were putting our mother oysters down to start breeding, but it takes five years to grow a five year old oyster and thats at the stage when they start to mature and have their own young, so were at the beginning of a long journey. Hopefully, in 20 years time well have our healthy oyster beds. When oysters thrive, other animals thrive too. They provide food and a place to live and they naturally clean the water by removing algae and cutting pollutants. We want it to be preserved. We want a future for when im as old as alan, if i ever get there i want to be working the ground still, i want to be catching oysters for a living. Thats what ive set myself up to do. The native oyster has given me a great life and i owe the native oyster, 0k . With everybodys help we can bring this back. And amazing story. Political historian mike finn is here to tell us whats caught his eye. Nothing to do with donald trump, the developments we have had this morning. The papers will be full of those pictures tomorrow, all that handshake in north korea, which took place between the american president and the north Korean Leader, it will be all over the tv and social media by the end of today. In the meantime, staff in the papers today. Glastonbury have said there is no water shortage. It does not stop the papers picking up on the red hot day yesterday and people needing to keep cool and get a drink. It is important to note the Glastonbury Festival has denied there is any water shortage despite what the papers are saying. They have gone plastic three this year. They have taken heed plastic three this year. They have ta ken heed of plastic three this year. They have taken heed of the outcry about plastic pollution. A broader conversation about how feasible it is to go plastic free quickly. I have friends who have tried to do it for a month and they find it very difficult with the children, to say the least, who want fizzy pop and the least, who want fizzy pop and the rest of it. It is possibly somewhere where we are still looking at moves in terms of packaging. We have seen straws change pretty quickly but we have a long way to go with the rest of it. The disposable culture is going to take a huge shift in mindset to get us out of. We were talking about wimbledon, but there is a huge event in lyon. I am going there tomorrow. Getting ready for the game. Lucy bronze here but that excellent goal against norway in the quarterfinals last week. Absolutely. I am deeply envious. My job does not take me out there. The england team has captured the imagination this tournament. What is interesting now is if you think back to the 2012 olympics the culmination in some ways, a seven year period of consistency. The last world cup as well notwithstanding the own goal. It has captured the imagination. We have seen developments in the professionalisation of womens football and Womens Super League coming in and you are seeing genuine icons. Lucy bronze, nikita paris, names that the next generation will grow up knowing. You are dealing with entrenched issues of sexism in the culture but it is interesting when you see discussions on lucy bronze and you will see people with a casual interest in womens football who are starting to get more engaged there and she is the best full back in the world. That is starting to hit home with people. A photo with jill scott. |j starting to hit home with people. A photo with jill scott. I wasjust reading about that. At wimbledon in 2015. Sorry, rachel. That has been the motive for womens football. Jill scott is delighted to meet david beckham. She can go beyond him and wina david beckham. She can go beyond him and win a world cup. She has the opportunity. David beckham was there at the game against norway. He wants to associate himself with that kind of success which is fantastic. Wouldnt it be wonderful if they can win . It is a source of slight frustration to me. We have brilliant female sports stars and every year before wimbledon they always seem to before wimbledon they always seem to be dressed up and shown in a slightly different light in order to market it more effectively to a different audience. On the one hand you have how far we have come and in the other hand how far we have to go. This is the story itself about former wimbledon champion signed rivals in and of itself is an issue that wet that if you look at the story in the top right, which is slightly more positive, about andy murrays doubles partner issues, andy murray has has been an outspoken opponent, supporter of womens rights in tennis. There is obviously a huge element of teamwork in playing any kind of doubles in tennis aspire to such talented players on the same team, they have pretty short odds to win. It would givejamiea pretty short odds to win. It would givejamie a run for his pretty short odds to win. It would give jamie a run for his money potentially. Absolutely. Brotherly rivalry. I am not necessarily surprised to see this because we we re surprised to see this because we were pa rt of surprised to see this because we were part of an exodus from london eight years ago but more and more people leaving the capital. Some really interesting stuff on the story which is about population shifts. Londons population has been stocked up by International Arrivals not from the rest of the country. People are choosing to leave and go elsewhere. London historically was this big before. Before the Second World War there were 8 Million People before so only in the last few years it has reached that peak again. The report cites various dishes such as congestion and cost of living as to why people are turning elsewhere. Thank you. The Andrew Marr Show is here on bbc one at 10am. Andrew, what do you have in store . A Big Programme today. The man who could be your Prime Minister and four weeks, jeremy hunt, is on the show. Also, with all this talk about Jeremy Corbyns fitness for office, one of his staunchest supporters, the general secretary of unite Len Mccluskey will be with me, and i am joined, with wimbledon ahead, i have the great stephen fry talking about greek myths and what we know and do not know. Pandora for instance never had a box. Lots to talk about. Stay with us, headlines coming up. Hello, this is breakfast with rogerjohnson and rachel burden. Heres a summary of this mornings main news in the past half hour, donald trump has become the first serving american president to set foot on the north korean territory. He is in the demilitarised area between north and south korea, where hes shaken hands with the north Korean Leader kim jong un. The meeting between the two leaders came after mr trump tweeted an apparently spontaneous invitation to mr kim tojoin him during his visit to american troops in the area. Stepping across that line was a great honour. A lot of progress has been made, a lot of friendships have been made, a lot of friendships have been made, a lot of friendships have been made and this is in particular a great friendship. I just want to thank you, that was very quick notice and i want to thank you. Police are continuing their investigations after an eight months pregnant woman was stabbed to death in croydon. Her baby is critically ill in hospital after being delivered at the scene. A 37 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. It was one of two fatal stabbings in london in 24 hours. A man in his late 20s died after being attacked with a knife in east london last night. A two month old boy who suffered head injuries in an alleged assault has died in hospital. Grieving families will no longer have to cover burial or cremation costs when a child dies under a new government scheme. Each year around 3,800 children die, with a further 2,700 stillbirths. The Childrens Funeral Fund aims to ensure families wont have to pay Funeral Directors in england for burials or cremations from next month. That moment of tragedy, when families will be thinking about the child they have lost, having to work out how to pay for and arrange a funeral is just Something Else that they really dont want to have to worry about. What were doing here is trying to take away that worry about how you can pay for that funeralfrom them. Everyone whose child dies in the context of england will be eligible, we are not means testing this. Itjust removes that extra worry and stress at a very stressful time for families European Union regulations coming into force tomorrow mean that new electric vehicles will have to produce a sound. The noise, which will sound similar to a traditional engine, will take effect at speeds of under 12mph and when the vehicle is reversing. Drivers will be able to switch the device off when they think it unnecessary, such as in motorway traffic. It follows concerns that electric cars could put pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable road users at risk because theyre too quiet. Did you seejohnny marr on stage with the killers last night at glastonbury . Here he is on the pyramid stage playing mr brightside with the band. He also played this charming man, as well. Fans of the smiths will be pleased to know hes here on the sofa on wednesday morning talking about his new album. Serena williams has been speaking exclusively to breakfast ahead of the start of wimbledon tomorrow. The grand slam champion says shes feeling good about the tournament, despite being beset with injuries this year. Looking ahead into this tournament, how do you feel physically . Do you feel right there and ready . I feel good now, it has been a rough time for me this year but im finally at a place where i am like, oh my god, im not in pain, lets do this so this is a good place for me to be in. You feel not in pain and ready to go . Yes, and i couldnt be more excited about it you can catch sallys full interview with Serena Williams here on breakfast tomorrow morning. Lets go back life to the korean border. Donald trump ants kim jong un have met earlier at the border. The two men had a short meeting, about 25 minutes since we we re meeting, about 25 minutes since we were last there. President trump said they would have a short conversation. The two men had that symbolic meeting, which President Trump extended the invitation for via twitter only a day or so ago. He was injapan via twitter only a day or so ago. He was in japan then flew via twitter only a day or so ago. He was injapan then flew into south where he had meetings with president moonjae in where he had meetings with president moon jae in yesterday. Where he had meetings with president moonjae in yesterday. That where he had meetings with president moon jae in yesterday. That area where he had meetings with president moonjae in yesterday. That area is within the demilitarised zone, it is the peace village, as i understand it. The two men walked through the village and over on to the north korean side of the demilitarised zone. They shook hands over there, then they walked back over to the south korean side and shook hands once again. They spoke to the press. These pictures are not sure thats a huge amount. It is an illustration of the kind of spontaneous nature of this event today. Similarly it all came about as a result of an a p pa re ntly came about as a result of an apparently spontaneous street by President Trump saying he was in the area if kim jong un wanted to President Trump saying he was in the area if kimjong un wanted to meet him. Thats how they match. It has been a slightly chaotic morning in some ways, but they both met, they spoke to the press, both of them. Then these private talks are taking place now. It remains to be seen how much concrete is going to come out of this in terms of the denuclearisation process. But an historic moment, the first sitting president to enter north korea. The little area that rachel mentioned, thejoint little area that rachel mentioned, the joint between the north korean side and the demilitarised zone was behind the camera man, he had his back to it. We will continue to monitor those pictures. Lets move on to the sports. England have a bit of a battle on their hands in the world cup. All eyes will be on edgebaston later when they take on india the only unbeaten side in the competition, led by one of the worlds best in virat kohli. As one of the favorurites to lift the trophy, they pose a big challenge for this england side. Lets speak now to tms commentator prakash wakankar. Thank you forjoining us this morning. Three defeats for england so morning. Three defeats for england so far, that has left them staring down the world cup barrel. Do you think the pressure is starting to shoot . Look, pressure in world cups is nothing new for any of these great sportspeople. They are professionals. I think the three defeats a re professionals. I think the three defeats are a bit of a challenge, but england have everything in their arsenal to be able to pull this off. Their desperation for their win needs to be balance of playing to their potential. If they do, there is no reason why they cant win both of the games that they need to be certain of making it to the semifinals. Their own, it is a two game story after that. Semifinals. Their own, it is a twogame story after that. It will feel like a home game for india later. Walk to end the need to do today to beat a side like india . First and foremost, theyjust need to have the belief. This is the site that until very recently was number one in the one Day International rankings. They played a Different Branch of cricket since about 2016. They back as deep as any side in od history. They just need they back as deep as any side in od history. Theyjust need to adapt. That is the keyword. Eoin morgan said that in this press conference last evening, said we need to adapt a bit, so you may not be always able to play your game, you need to be able to adjust and adapt to the conditions and the opposition. With india, they know that the chink in their armour is early wickets. If they can get virat kohli back in the hutch sooner than later, then the middle order, which has always been a problem for india, could be the area that they could really exploit. Eoin morgan will have everything crossed that jason roy ants archer could be fit today. Could they be the difference . Jason roy certainly will. And even less than 100 jason roy just gives that explosive start at the top and it allowsjonny ba i rstow at the top and it allowsjonny bairstow to be able to play his game. James spence, with due respect, he got the starts but never converted and that puts pressure on johnny bairstow. As far asjoffre archer is concerned, we hope you will be fit because he is such an exciting prospect. He wont be an unknown phenomena to the indian batsmen. Edgbaston, a good record, sunny weather, what else could we ask for . Thank you forjoining us. And dont forget coverage begins on radio 5 live sports extra from 9. 30 and radio 4 long wave from 10. 15. You can also watch in play video highlights via the bbc sport website and app. So its advantage pakistan in the race for a world cup top four place after they beat afghanistan by three wickets at headingley yesterday. Chasing 228 to win, pakistan were in trouble at 167 for 6. But an unbeaten 49 from imad wasim managed to get pakistan over the line with two balls remaining. The win moves pakistan above england and into the top four. Defending champions australia beat new zealand by 86 runs despite being restricted to 243 9 from their 50 overs new zealands trent boult taking a hat trick at the end of the innings. But the black caps never got close to chasing their target down bowled out for 157 with more than six overs remaining. Australia are already certain of semi final place. New zealand should make the last four. Tomorrow our attention turns to wimbledon. I cant wait. It will be all over the bbc, of course. As well as the cricket world cup and the womens football world cup. They were on Hunger Strike together for more than two weeks, but yesterday, Nazanin Zaghari ratcliffe and her husband, richard, ended theirjoint protest against her imprisonment. The british iranian national, jailed in tehran on spying charges, spent 15 days on Hunger Strike in prison, while her husband fasted outside the Iranian Embassy in london. So what happens now . Lets speak now to Richard Ratcliffe, who joins us from our london newsroom. Thank you very much. How are you and how is nazanin . Im relieved. Every engaged with the world again, im glad to have had a meal and slept in a bed. We will find out how she is doing later on today because there isafamily doing later on today because there is a family visit. She is proud of what she achieved, but she was a bit fragile. Im glad to hear there is going to be a family visit. They are authorities werent happy with her going ahead with this Hunger Strike. They put all sorts of pressure on her. Hopefully, the visit will go ahead today. You say you feel that you have achieved something through this process. What is it that you wa nted this process. What is it that you wanted to do . What she wanted to do was draw attention to the fact that enough is enough, you cant hold innocent people is leveraged like this. It was going past gabriella pass my birthday that triggered this. I huge number of mps came down, lots of lovely people came down, lots of lovely people came down and signed our visitor book on the flags were flying in glastonbury yesterday. What about awareness in a ram . If there is awareness there, would public pressure make any difference . There is much greater awareness. He became a much bigger story in a round over the last two weeks, but also because of the way that they really am authorities were complaining about this. In terms of what difference that makes, time will tell. We need to watch carefully what happens in the run and follow up with the foreign secretary while he is still in post to see what will happen. We have a former foreign secretary and the former foreign secretary and the former foreign secretary and the former foreign minister both similarly consumed by their own campaigns to become Prime Minister. Have you talked to both of them about this case . Over the years, yes, but not since the Hunger Strike happened. We will see who becomes Prime Minister and from there. What is the best you can hope for, do you think . Obviously, wejust want is the best you can hope for, do you think . Obviously, we just want to salt as quickly as possible, so making a real clear commitment by the Prime Minister. We want to make ita the Prime Minister. We want to make it a real commitment that protecting british citizens unfairly imprisoned abroad should be looked after better. How much more cannily to do . Whether it is behind the scenes or in full view of everyone . What would you like to see . It is a bit of both, always. Reality diplomatic protection is a status that can be granted. We will try to talk to the foreign secretary quite soon. It is the next steps. There are things that the government can do. How is your little girl doing . You are separated from her, as well. It is a desperately traumatic time for all the family. Very tough on the family. Because she is so little she accepts as normal while the rest of us woiiy. Accepts as normal while the rest of us worry. Her First Response when she heard that her mother was ending Hunger Strike, she said, daddy can you keep on doing itjust to make sure it works if everyone had that simple logic this would have been solved a lot more quickly. I wish you all the best. Thank you. Richard Richard Ratcliffe there. We are continuing to monitor the pictures from the demilitarised zone on the Korean Peninsula for when this meeting between kim jong un and President Trump breaks up. We saw the moment when President Trump walked over onto north korean soil. They then came back into the demilitarised income of the peace village, where they will have this meeting. There might be something to report. We will continue to monitor that just in case. In the meantime, lets have a look at the weather. Yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far. We had temperatures of 34 degrees in london. Today is a pleasa nt 34 degrees in london. Today is a pleasant day for many of us but not as hot for many of us. Blue skies in northamptonshire this morning. The further south and east you are the more chance of blue skies. Things are not feeling as hot as they have done. The heat and humidity is getting squeezed away towards the east. Last night we had this cold front that made its way east across the uk. Still a few showers to come today, particularly across the western half of scotland. Northern ireland seen one or two of them showers. There could be a rumble of thunder here, too. For much of england and wales, long spells of sunshine, just a bit more cloud in the jar sunshine, just a bit more cloud in thejar in sunshine, just a bit more cloud in the jar in the far north west later in the day. Well see up to 25 degrees in the south east. Many of us degrees in the south east. Many of us in the high teens or low 20s further north and west. More of a breeze than recently, too. We will keep the showers across northern and western scotland, one or two in Northern Ireland and the north west of england, too. It will be more co mforta ble of england, too. It will be more comfortable for sleeping than was last night. Taking a look at your week ahead weather, it is looking largely settled. Higher pressure with largely dry conditions and sunshine. It will feel warm but not as hot as it has done. There will be some showers in the North Western pa rt some showers in the North Western part of the uk. Higher pressure in the south west, low pressure in the north east, so we will see a few weather fronts making its north east, so we will see a few weatherfronts making its way north east, so we will see a few weather fronts making its way into northern scotland at times. On monday, that brings rain across northern and North Western scotland. 0ne northern and North Western scotland. One or two passing showers from Northern Ireland and the north west of england. Elsewhere, lots of dry weather and the clergy break up in the afternoon, so sunny spells quite widely. Temperatures between 16 and 21 degrees tomorrow. Still feeling reasonably pleasant. Into tuesday, lots of dry weather on the cards, just the odd shower in the north of scotland. Lighter winds by this stage and some of the cloud will bubble up into the afternoon. It should stay largely dry with sunny spells and temperatures between 17 and 21 degrees on tuesday. No great change in the weather through the course of this week. You will notice that the temperatures, particularly in the south, start to creep up towards the weekend. It looks fine for the first week of wimbledon. Last time we showed you the door at the peace village, donald trump walked its within about 20 seconds, so lets try that again there was an historic handshake and walking onto north korean soil. We have seen some remarkable pictures this morning. President trump going to the demilitarised zone, up to some of the military checkpoints and meeting south korean and american trips, then he said i am going to meet kim jong un, then we saw the meeting take place, President Trump crossing the border and coming back again. I think we will get one final handshake. We heard kimjong un keep glancing sideways. I was glancing sideways, sorry looking at the monitor. Kim jong un feels that there is some progress. The door has no there is some progress. The door has no now closed. now, the end of school prom has become a firm tradition for lots of pupils in the uk and its one that seems to be getting bigger and bigger each year, but with some parents sorry, we believe that for the minutes. They are in the demilitarised zone. This little area you will have seen before, it is where kim jong un and president moon jae in have their meeting those months ago. The two men walking purposefully across the road. The three men, so president moonjae in, kim jong un three men, so president moonjae in, kimjong un and three men, so president moonjae in, kim jong un and President Trump. They are walking towards the borderline with north korea. I suspect if the camera captures that, we might see another handshake, possibly once again over the north korean border. They are standing in the middle of that little area. It is difficult for the cameraman because there is a lot of accredited journalists in that korean media corps. The cameraman is having to lift his camera high above his head. Not the best pictures at the moment. It has been an historic morning nonetheless. Whether we will get a clearer shot than that, i dont know. It is probably very frustrating for you watching this at home. We cant understate the symbolic significance of this moment. President trump finally they are giving the last we have kim jong un. We have brought the story full circle at least, this morning. Now, the end of school prom has become a firm tradition for lots of pupils in the uk and its one that seems to be getting bigger and bigger each year, but with some parents spending up to a thousand pounds on clothes, make up and fancy cars, some Charities Say theyre worried about the impact on young people who cant afford it. We arejoined now by ally elouise, who is the founder of promalley, a charity providing outfits for prom goers. The cost can be astonishing for pa rents. The cost can be astonishing for parents. I have gone through it, albeit with a son, so not quite as bad. For girls albeit with a son, so not quite as bad. Forgirls in albeit with a son, so not quite as bad. For girls in particular and pa rents bad. For girls in particular and pa re nts ca n bad. For girls in particular and parents can be very expensive. The dresses are getting more expensive every year, but the averages about £250 that pa rents every year, but the averages about £250 that parents are spending at the minutes. You are involved in it. It isa the minutes. You are involved in it. It is a real american tradition that we seem to have adopted. It is at the end of year 11, at the end of gcses. It is from america. I think it isa gcses. It is from america. I think it is a nice thing, it is the last time you will see a lot of your peers, your teachers. It is a nice way to celebrate the end of school but it puts a lot of pressure on the pa rents. But it puts a lot of pressure on the parents. No one wants to deny these kids a brilliant night to celebrate the end of their school lives, but it seems ridiculous the amount of money being spent. You are offering an alternative. I set up a charity that helps the parents who are struggling afford address or a suit. Not everyone can keep up. And amazingly good value. Just a tenner, the cost of postage, really. Yes, its not too high read, it isjust the cost of postage. I spent my 21st birthday money buying them, but after that they have all been donated. I have never bought one since that, they are donated after people because my promise. Do they come from designers, from shops . Most of them are second hand from other peoples problems, but ive had wedding shops, other people offer a lot of dresses. I have a run to dresses. I have around 2,000 now. Do pa rents dresses. I have around 2,000 now. Do parents feel under huge pressure . The young people themselves are under pressure from their friends and other people that they know. There is a lot of pressure. The kids themselves are going through a lot of pressure because they are going through their exams, and just being a teenager. It does add a lot of pressure. I do think it is here to stay and it will only get worse. Hopefully charities like mike and leave a bit of that pressure. Hopefully charities like mike and leave a bit of that pressurem hopefully charities like mike and leave a bit of that pressure. It is all about what you can put on instagram, as well. Did you have to deal with a certain amount of stigma attached to using a charity or even borrowing a second address . Yes. Ive made the charity anonymous, which helps people come forward because a lot of people dont want to admit that they cant afford to buy a dress for their children because they feel they have let them down. I think there is a stigma around it. Im hoping to break that down. Luckily, the dresses i had been donated are so nice. Some people think second hand dresses will be horrible, but they are nice and glamorous. I understand you have had a busy summer. Very busy. What is your message to anybody who has a spare address sitting in the cupboard . Please donate them to me. The more people to make dresses, the more choice that people have. The more people to make dresses, the more choice that people havem the more people to make dresses, the more choice that people have. It is a brilliant thing you are doing. Thank you. Thats all from the Breakfast Team for today, but dan and louise will be back here tomorrrow from 0600. Well leave you with those historic pictures from the last hour, when donald trump became the First American president to set foot on the north korean territory. Much more analysis to come. The headlines donald trump steps into north korea to meet kim jong un in the demilitarised zone, becoming the first serving us president to enter the country. Stepping across that line was a great honour. A lot of progress has been made. A lot of friendships have been made, and this has been in particular a great friendship, so i want to thank you.
