We had some in norfolk today, not much all week but we still have the fog problems. More so for Northern England and parts of the midlands, you can see the weak weather front run down the spine of the country so either side of that we see the best of the sunshine. The fog has cleared. Why . The winds strengthening ahead of this weather front which will start the changes to our weather or the process at least as we go through tonight and the weekend. Its a slow process, we have to live with the grey weather through the weekend, touch and go, there will be fog returning in parts, perhaps scotland and across eastern and central parts of the uk but for the west by don we have spots of rain in devon and cornwall. Different from the sunshine we are seeing at the moment and also across the west of wales. Graver Different Reasons for the east, the rain with strong wind on and off match of the day Northern Ireland. For northern scotla nd day Northern Ireland. For northern scotland once the foston frock clears we should have the lines share of the sunshine. We have a bit more breeze hopefully the clyde will be about high and it wont be so gloomy and the faugheen will lift more readily but again not expecting an abundance of sunshine. Cabbage is ona par an abundance of sunshine. Cabbage is on a par with recent days. As we go through tomorrow evening and tomorrow night little rain left by the time they get to sunday morning and by that time we might have the fog returning to Northern Ireland. Againa bit fog returning to Northern Ireland. Again a bit chilly, by and large a lot of cloud, we have got the re m na nts of lot of cloud, we have got the rem na nts of two lot of cloud, we have got the remnants of two week weather fronts, drizzly rain, this is the main player late in the day, the next weather front sweeping up the week weather front sweeping up the week weather front sweeping up the week weather front and moving south during sunday night. Wet weather for virtually all of us and look at the tightly packed isoba rs. Virtually all of us and look at the tightly packed isobars. Its behind that the arctic air moves southwards right across the country and we start to worry about ice and snow. Look at the wind, it will feel much colder but at least we will see some sunshine. Before we go, just to tell you scotla nd before we go, just to tell you Scotland Yard says a 27 year old female uk national has been arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts. More on that on the bbc news channel. On bbc one its time for the news wherever you are. Goodbye. Less than three days to go until the first tennis grand slam of the year the Australian Open and Billie Jean King has again called for the show court named after former aussie Tennis Great Margaret Court to be renamed. Court, who won the tournament ii times, has spoken out controversially around sexuality and king says, while she isnt calling for players to boycott the arena, she herself would struggle to play there. I would not play on it. It is up to the people of australia but if i read here i would definitely not be the most rotten thing is to be authentic to yourself. The have to decide. You can discuss it, everyone is entitled to that opinion, margarets definitely is. Im have been very welcoming to modern. She believes in conversion, she thinks i can go back to straight. Our tennis correspondent Russell Fuller was at that press conference and says those in charge of the tournament say there are no plans at the moment to change the name but it isnt being ruled out in the future. It isa it is a press conference was called and billyjean king was able to express her views. He said forte said several months ago that they would not condone what Margaret Court said, they do not agree with that but that the court is named after her because of our achievements on that court. He also said it was complicated, it is not just Tennis Australia that makes this decision. The government owned Melbourne Park so there are many stakeholders. He said there was no active process to change the name but he did say it was something that was still subject to discussion. After 12 years at arsenal theo walcott looks like he may well be on his way out of the club soon. This morning everton boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed the teams have entered negotiations over the 28 year old, with a Permanent Transfer evertons preferred option. Both Manchester United and Manchester City have reportedly bid for him. People are always observing you with a microscope when you are on a short Term Contract but i never questioned his professional attitude on the football pitch. Sanchez wants to win. The bidding war is always beneficial to a club who can take advantage of it but we are not that, i minted what i said many times and that normally she should stay here until the end of the season but we will see. Thank you for torturing me. Laughter she was in first place but feathers over a minute behind the winner which lisa in tenth Place Overall in the competition standings. The final race is in germany next week. That is all the for now. More on those stories on the bbc sport website. A large fire has closed Nottingham Railway station, causing major disruption. At its peak, 12 fire crews were tackling the blaze. The flames have now been brought under control and no one was hurt. Passengers and staff had to leave the building as the fire spread during the morning rush hour. Earlier, john mills from nottinghamshire fire and rescue service gave this update on the operation so far. This morning around 6 30am we received a call to nottingham train station. This was an incident contained initially in the toilets and upon arrival it became very evident to us we had a developed fire with in the toilet area. This incident rapidly progressed and spread and has involved the overflow bridge going over and collecting the platforms. It has been a very demanding incident and our crews have worked very hard to try and contain it. We always have our First Priority life risks so it was initially people reported so we were searching for people initially because this happened at a busy time for the station. What we have then done is requested more fire engines, rapidly gone from three to five to eight and now 12 fire engines. This fire has progressed which makes it very difficult for us to fight, it is the demanding job in that respect i am delighted to report at the time of those interviewed though one has been injured. We have no casualties and no injuries which is always great news from our point of view. I have to emphasise this is not a Single Emergency Service incident, it is a joint Team Approach and we have the east midlands and services, british transport police, the representatives from the train station itself, its very much a Team Approach. We are asking people to be patient with us and have an understanding we have had to close roads in order to deal with this incident and are working as hard as we can to try and bring the station back online so business can resume as soon as possible. Eyewitnesses say the scene had been chaotic. We stayed overnight just across the road and we came up by train yesterday from london and we cannot now get back and our friend had his car the car in park behind us. Did you see the smoke this morning . We could see it from the hotel room and all the fire engines, it was quite chaotic but by the sounds of it they responded very quickly and hopefully no one is hurt. Could not get out so we are stuck. No trains, no bus service, nothing. A huge amount of disruption and nottingham, luckily no one heart. Hurt. From the Foreign Office in the last few moments, jullien a assange, the Foreign Office confirming that he has not been given any diplomatic status. This is in response to the fact thatjulian assange has been given an ecuador passport but the Foreign Office said the granting of rationality does not change his legal status here in the uk. He is in breach of bail conditions which were set in 2012 and he chose to enter the Ecuadorian Embassy of his own volition. The government of ecuador knows that the way to resolve the situation is for him to leave the embassy to face justice. No one should pretend that vatican ecuadorian citizenship is a route to solving this long standing issue. Julian assange still living in the ecuador embassy. Pakistan has deployed Paramilitary Forces to suppress riots in the eastern town of kasur, following the rape and killing of a six year old girl. Protesters are angry at the police for failing to find those responsible for a series of child murders over the past two years. Officials say the situation is tense but has been brought under control after two days of violence. Our pakistan correspondent Secunder Kermani has more. So far today kasur has remained calm. There is a big Police Presence but there has not been the kind of angry protests we have seen over the past few days following the discovery of the body of the six year old. There is amongst the investigating team a sense of urgency that whoever killed her needs to be caught. We have seen a Police Document that revealed that in this city over the past year 11 young girls have been attacked. Traces of the same dna have been found on the bodies of six of them. All of them were abducted from close to their homes, all of their bodies were later recovered, also nearby to their homes. Only one of them survived. She is currently in hospital. Relatives say she is unable to talk or move from the head down. Translation if this happened to the daughter of a politician then wouldnt they have caught the attacker by now . Ourfamily is poor so no one cares. Herfamily has her family has some political connections, that is why they have so much attention. All six girls went missing from the same small neighbourhood. The police do have a cctv image of the suspect and the man had is under way to try and find him. But many in the city still pose the question, why it wasnt more done earlier . A study of women with Breast Cancer suggests that having a double mastectomy does not increase the chances of survival in younger patients who have whats known as the brca gene. The researchers also found that women treated for Breast Cancer had the same survival rates regardless of whether or not they had the mutation. A short time ago the reports author, professor diana eccles, spoke to the bbcs Victoria Derbyshire programme about the significance of these findings. The first thing to absolutely stress is all of the patient in this study came along with a diagnosis of Breast Cancer, they were not people who have no cancer but knew they were at high risk and that is important to get clear, they are a very different circumstances. Our study looked at young women, 18 to 43 developed cancer, usually they found a lump, they were not being screened and most did not know they were brca gene carriers and we followed them for a long period of time, looked at ladies diagnosed between 2000 and 2008 and followed their medical records ever since and have finally been able to work out who does and who does not carry the brca gene mutation. The findings are 12 of those younger women with Breast Cancer had the brca gene mutation and the outcome from the conventional Breast Cancer treatment for those people was no different to those that did not have the brca gene mutation wants you took the Breast Cancer characteristics into account. The treatment was based upon their Breast Cancer status rather than the brca status. In a moment a summary of the Business News this hour but first the headlines on bbc News Donald Trump cancels his visit to the uk next month but downing street insists the strong and deep partnership will endure dozens of firefighters have been battling a huge blaze at Nottingham Railway station. The station is shut causing major travel disruption and a breakthrough in talks to form a new government in germany between chancellor Angela Merkels christian democrats and their former coalition partners, the social democrats. In the Business News. Bank customers across the uk as of tomorrow will be able to securely share their Financial Information with other regulated firms. All they need to do is give their permission. The so called open banking regime aims to help consumers get better deals. More of this in a second. Good news for consumers businesses will no longer be able to charge you when you use a debit or credit card from saturday. The new law which bans surcharges is collectively said to save consumers getting on for 500 milion pounds a year. Carillion, one of the governments biggest contractors has been meeting government officials and the pension regulator today amid speculation over its future. It is struggling under £1. 5bn of debt including a pension shortfall of £587m. From tomorrow, charging extra to anyone in the uk for using a credit or debit card will no longer be allowed. It should mean an end to those pesky unexpected additions that are applied particularly on travel bookings and stop those shops adding on a couple of quid for payments by card under a certain amount. But it may not be all good news. The change may mean a rise in prices and there are questions over how it will be policed. Joining me now is gareth shaw, money expert from Consumer Group which . I mentioned there could be changes, charges apply for travel bookings and in smaller shops, where else are they commonly seen . Often applied to cinematic hits and theatre tickets and events are primarily the worst offenders for surcharges both now and in the past have always been airlines and travel companies. In 2011 some airlines were charging as much as 6. 4 5 as a credit card surcharge or £5 per person per lake which met a family of four could get hit with as much as £50. Who will pick up the bill for this . Retailers will still have to pay the card companies. When we campaigned on this he wanted an end to excessive surcharges and we wanted the cost businesses to be a bigger ones they passed on to their customers. The eu has gone one step farther and said consumers should not have to bear this cost and it is something the businesses will have to pick up. We will have to wait and see what the applications that are. Some businesses have said they may have to increase prices. Others have said we are absolutely not going to increase prices, we will keep our prices competitive. If you are not happy with the deal you are getting with one provider supplier retailer, you can vote with your feet and take your business elsewhere. How well will this be policed . Your business elsewhere. How well will this be policed . It is down to trading standards to police this so if you are levied a such as by a retailer you can promote promote it but the something for the government to monitor and that is not only to ta ke to monitor and that is not only to take action. And some other business stories today. Big winners were discount supermarkets aldi and lidl with record sales over the festive period. Growth has also been driven by aggressive store opening programmes. Shares in gkn, one of the uks biggest engineering firms, have soared after it rejected a takeover bid from melrose that valued the company at seven billion pounds. The company has also announced the appointment of a new boss anne stevens after the last chief executive Kevin Cummins left the role before he had even started. British builder bovis says its on track to deliver a significant increase in profitability in 2018 as it seeks to turn its business around after seeing off two takeover bids last year following a profit warning. Last year buyers complained about the quality of its homes. A quick look at the markets. Thats all the Business News. Theres controversy over a scheme to erect a zipwire across a reservoir in the Lake District. Consultation on the project planned for thirlemere ends today. Developers say it will encourage tourism, but conservationists arent happy, as Graham Satchell reports. Hidden in the trees next to lake windermere, a zip wire. Keir and will are about to go down for the first time. I booked this for his birthday. Would you normally come to the lakes, anyway . We havent been before, no. Go bringing new people to the lakes is just one reason. Tree top trek want to build one more zip wire half an hour at the road, at thirlmere. So you cant really do this story without actually having a go. So here we go. One, two, three so the people behind this new zip wire say it will create 15 newjobs, and should create £600,000 for the economy, and there should be 50,000 people a year using it. It is about getting outdoors, doing something you wouldnt normally do, challenging yourself. And i think the more people we can encourage to get outdoors, and to get up into the fells and to get around the lakes, the better. The plans would see four wires going across the water one way, at thirlmere, a quick trek, and then four wires going back to the other side. And this is thirlmere breathtaking, majestic, serene, and surprising. It is surprising because, actually, most of what you can see here is man made. The trees, for example, were planted in the early 1900s. And the water is not a lake, it is a reservoir, built in the 18905 to supply water to manchester, which it still does today. There was a huge row, when this reservoir was built, between industrialists and city folk to the south and a group of locals, including the poet and philosopher john ruskin, who many consider to be the founding father of modern conservationists. Ruskin lost the first battle of thirlmere. But the group he was part of, now called the friends of the lakes district, is determined not to lose this one. I love getting out, getting away from it all. And i think having all these visitors here will spoil that, will spoil the landscape. Zip wires have a place, but not in this landscape, and certainly not across an expanse of open water. Ive been on one. You do scream, you cant help it. It would just be awful to have that here, when you come here for peaceful walks in nature. What do you thinkjohn ruskin would have made of your zip wire proposal . I have absolutely no idea whatsoever. But we shouldnt be afraid of words like thrill and fun. They should go hand in hand with words like peace and tranquility. These pictures show what it might be like to go on the proposed new zip wire. There is a big question here. Should the Lake District be opened up to more people who wouldnt normally come, or should it be left in peace, as it is . Now its not often that tv News Reporters are lost for words but abcs Sarah Hancock was caught completely by surprise when doing this piece to camera at the santos tour down under bike race in adelaide hills, australia. Lets just see what happened. The truck managed to stop further down the road with the inflatable intact. And it was quickly re erected in enough time for the winner of the womens race, Annette Edmondson to cross the line. Even more remarkably, no one was hurt. Time for a look at the weather. It looked lovely and sunny in australia, we have not seen much of that this week in the uk. There is a change on the way somewhat of us will see some sunshine into next week but the change will take place with the passage of a weather front so for many that means a spell of rather wet and windy weather. Heading through into the coming week. Some rather windy weather sunday into monday, not a great start to the working week but following that is when we see the brighter weather but the fog has been an issue, starting to lift a little more but more sunshine. More than east anglia than that so far this week, this is a weak weather front but you would not say that if you live in parts of hampshire and across to the west of London Records fairly active giving us some wit rain. Beginning out through the evening and overnight, the fog returns are not as widely, the winds stronger and certainly for Northern Ireland the changes already afoot, some patches in reaching most Northern Ireland by morning and a strengthening breeze. Enter saturday, despite the chilly start so slow progress eastwards savimbi have seen sunshine it looks a little gloomier tomorrow. Fog to clear elsewhere, if you spot of rain and drizzle. The weak weather front is still around, it has not been swept away yet by the atlantic low pressures of the best of the sunshine will be across the north of scotla nd sunshine will be across the north of scotland was the fog and frost clears. Given we have a bit more bodies than today, perhaps the basis of the clyde will be a little higher and not quite so grey. For Northern Ireland the rain is on and off creeping into the south west of scotla nd creeping into the south west of scotland and fringes of england and wales, patchy and light for the most pa rt wales, patchy and light for the most part but meaning some fairly low cloud. Through tomorrow night, fizzles out but again still with us into sunday. When we have holes in the cloud and frost and the countryside will return, fog as well and sunday looks a lot drier, and dont forget the weak weather fronts soa dont forget the weak weather fronts so a lot of cloud and could be drizzly but clearly this is going to ta ke ce ntre drizzly but clearly this is going to take centre stage late in the day for scotland and Northern Ireland, he went into the day and very windy. Dated back isa buyers pushing and strong winds and gales and it is behind that that the snow comes in and we worry about snow and ice, chilly wind but at least there will be some sunshine.
