Now, the city wa nts to like a tourist town. Now, the city wants to show it has a defiant, dignified community in the face of such horror. Our correspondent Gary Odonoghue joins us now from las vegas. This was breaking at this time yesterday. What more do we know about the motive of a horrific event . We know precious little about the motive, im afraid. Still at this early stage of the investigation, police are gathering their information. We now know that their information. We now know that the shooter had 42 separate weapons, 23 of them in the hotel room with him, another 19 at the address the police raided in mesquite. He also had some explosives, thousands of rounds of ammunition. We know that he had a pretty colourful parents, in one sense, in that his father was a bank robber who was on the fbis wa nted a bank robber who was on the fbis wanted list for a long time. But he became an accountant, and in retirement, a bit of a gambler and a property investor. Still no sign of why he did what he did, and the police will be combing anything they canfind, in police will be combing anything they can find, in terms of computers, phones, anything he did in the last few weeks, to try and explain what they are saying is not connected to International Terrorism. The government says it is the biggest repatriation exercise in peacetime. Steph was across this for us yesterday. What is the latest . Well, you and another 3 Million People who are using that site to get information. It seems like it is in operation going well at the moment, in terms of bringing it run back. I will be talking a bit more about that later on, just what your rights are with things like that. Rate that everyone is getting home without any extra costs, but for those who are due to go on holiday or travel with monarch, it isa holiday or travel with monarch, it is a bit ofa holiday or travel with monarch, it is a bit of a problem for them at the moment. Thank you very much. Borisjohnson will address the conservative Party Conference in manchester today. The foreign secretary has been accused of undermining the Prime Minister on brexit. Theresa may has insisted the cabinet is united. Our Political Correspondent chris mason is in manchester this morning. Chris, what kind of reception can mrjohnson expect . Borisjohnson has not even spoken yet, but so much newspaper coverage is about him. Yes, there is an unwritten rule, i think, at conservative Party Conferences over the last decade or so, which is that if there is not a vast amount going on, borisjohnson if there is not a vast amount going on, Boris Johnson can if there is not a vast amount going on, borisjohnson can very quickly become the centre of attention. And he managed to grab the limelight at this conference before it had even started, with that interview that he gave in the Sun Newspaper on saturday. He said last night he is united, the cabinet is united, over every word, every syllable of the Prime Ministers big brexit speech act in florence, in italy a couple of weeks ago. We understand the Prime Minister will be in the hall for Prime Minister will be in the hall foer Prime Minister will be in the hall for mrjohnsons speech. We expect as well that the foreign secretary will reflect on events in las vegas. There will be a huge amount of scrutiny this afternoon on anything to do with brexit, because we will be hearing from the foreign secretary, but also from david davis, the brexit secretary, and from liam fox, the International Trade secretary, the triumvirate, if you like, of brexiteers at the top of the government, all speaking today, and there will be a real analysis of every word and syllable to work out if we can learn anything new. We will speak to you a little bit later, as well. And injust over an hour we will speak to the Prime Minister, theresa may. That is at 7 10am. I spent many an hour listening to tom petty with my brother. I will have to dig out a little bit of full moon fever. Here is matt with a look at this mornings weather. Not a bad day for many. Good morning to you as well. A lovely autumn day across many southern and eastern areas. The wind is still a bit of a cool one but not quite as strong as yesterday and most will enjoy some sunny spells. The best of which in the south and east of the country. The cloud broadly overnight rain across the English Channel and now we have a bit of cloud to the north and west of the country, and that will just and west of the country, and that willjust bring in the odd shower this morning for the morning rush hour, northern and western scotland, Northern Ireland and north west england in particular. Many places with sunny spells, and the wind not as strong as this time yesterday. Still blustery and the far north east of the country. East of the pennines, clear blue skies to start the day. A bit more cloud in the west of the pennines, parts of the west of the pennines, parts of the midlands and across western wales, just threatening the odd light shower. For the vast majority of wales, southern and eastern england, blue skies overhead to start your tuesday morning. A little bit on the cool side. Temperatures in single figures but warming up quite nicely when the sun is on your back. In a breeze it will feel d ista ntly back. In a breeze it will feel distantly chilly. A real feel of autumn but still a few showers to come through the day. Parts of scotland, Northern Ireland and north west england and in particular. A bit more cloud compared to what we started the day with. Temperatures not farfrom yesterdays values, 13 to 17 degrees, as i said, pleasant enough in that sunshine and on the cool side out of it. Into the night, light winds across the south, a bit more of a breeze further north and the showers will merge into longer spells of rain. Showers edging their way down the central belt to start tomorrow morning, and away from the towns and cities it will be a cool night. Cooler than the nightjust gone. Temperatures two or three degrees lower in scotland. A north south split for wednesday. Southern areas dry, sunny spells throughout. A bit more cloud across parts of scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England. Especially for Northern Ireland, southern scotland and Northern England, here is where the figures cloud will be. Turning increasingly wet for many of you. Sunshine and showers further north and feeling blustery and cool, if anything a bit cooler tomorrow compared with today. We finished with lots of rain in fact developing across the central swathe of the country. And to get this into thursday, this developing low pressure system will move its way from west to east. Because of this it will fluctuate just where that rain will be, the wettest parts, but a windy night to take us through the night into thursday. The rain clears early on for the south and east, and then thursday should be a day of sunny spells once again, and a few showers. Showers mainly to northern and eastern areas this time, and this is where the winds will be at the strongest. Notice the wind direction, coming the north west by thursday. Coming from the north west by thursday. I will have updates throughout the morning. Thank you very much indeed. We will have a quick look at the front page of the newspapers, and there isjust one story that really dominates. And pretty similar pictures as well. Most of the papers going with the figure of 58 killed, but that has been updated to 59. An act of pure evil, which is a quote from President Trump yesterday. Some really disturbing pictures on the front page of the papers of people fleeing that concert in las vegas, and a bit more detail on these stories in a moment, but some incredible stories of people saving lives, rushing to help others, covering others while that gunfire was going on yesterday in las vegas. You really get a sense, sometimes from still images even more than moving images, people throwing themselves of their gates and fences, trying to save themselves from the shooting. People talked about rakes in the shooting, using the opportunity to run. You can see that on the front page of the mail. A very powerful picture here, three People Holding onto each others hands and sprinting to get away from what was happening yesterday. A lot of questions about who the killer was, why he did it. We saw an interview with his brother yesterday to try and explain. The last text he received from his brother was, hows mum . And act of pure evil, a quote from the front page an. More stories emerging of people trying to help save lives. Husbands covering wires, in america, some of the victims have started to be named. There were uk soldiers who we re named. There were uk soldiers who were stationed in california, they rushed to help as soon as they knew what it was. So many stories of heroism. There are other stories in the papers. A lot of papers still talking about monarch as well, the Biggest Airline collapse weve ever seen. Biggest Airline Collapse weve ever seen. Talking about all the people and where they are. These people are being repatriate and where they are. These people are being re patriate it and where they are. These people are being repatriate it to the uk. People doing questions and answers as to how you can recover the cost of cancelled flights. Well be talking about that later in the programme. Another bit of news, this holds a buckle over uber and their license in london. The latest news is that the boss of uber in england has quit. She is preparing to meet the head of transport london at the moment. She said it is nothing to do with the fact that there has been the decision to take away the licence to operate in london. She said she is moving on to something new and exciting. That is interesting timing. Spending time with yourfamily . Interesting timing. Spending time with your family . An interesting interview with the fa chairman. Fallout from the sacking of the womens manager. The fa came under fire for criticism as to what they knew and when, and allegations that they should have perhaps sacked him sooner. They said they knew about it in 2015 but did not act on it until a few weeks ago. And looking at johanna konta, she has lost five matches in a row. They are saying that the two and the level of tennis is perhaps reason behind her slump of late. I like this picture. There isa of late. I like this picture. There is a lot of horrible news around, i thought i would show this picture. We were saying, this is why you should never lie on your cv. Have a look at this. I thought you knew how to herd sheep this is from new zealand. She slipped and got slightly wedged in between. M zealand. She slipped and got slightly wedged in between. It is such a fantastic photo. Slightly wedged in between. It is such a fantastic photolj slightly wedged in between. It is such a fantastic photo. I dont know if it isa such a fantastic photo. I dont know if it is a look of terror orjoy |j am sure she sorted it out in the end. Lets return to our top story and 59 people are now known to have died in the mass shooting in las vegas. President donald trump has described the attack as pure evil. The tragedy has re ignited the debate around gun control in the United States. Lets speak to dave workman, the editor of gun mag. Com who is in washington. I know that you believe in the rights of americans to have guns, does what happened change your view . No, although it does change my view about the person who pulled the trigger. We dont know what his motive was and i think we need to sort that out, to figure out what was going on in his mind. What he did is an act of pure evil. There is no explanation for that. But by the same token, weve got tens of millions of law abiding citizens who didnt hurt anybody. They are just as horrified by this as you are. Didnt hurt anybody. They are just as horrified by this as you arem he didnt have access to such an effective means, he would not have been able to kill so many people. How do you respond to that . Well, i dont know what youre talking about. If you recall in nice, france, a man driving apparently a stolen truck ran over and killed about 100 people. How do you explain that . I dont know. You just. It proves to me that if somebody is bent on creating mayhem, he is going to find a way to do it. I still want to find a way to do it. I still want to ask you again that question, because he could do it, could nt, from the top floor of the hotel. No danger to himself. The ease with which he was able to do it. |j think there was some danger to himself. The police got up there and he killed himself. They would properly have done it for him if he hadnt had done it already. That seems to me like a danger to himself. But again, we still need to sort out why he did this. Lets also talk about other statistics which come from america. You will be familiar with these. 93 americans die from guns every day. Will anything change your view . The majority of those people, about two thirds of them are actually suicides, they are not fit them is of homicide. It is interesting that you brought that up, because there is an effort going on here in Washington State that was spearheaded by the Firearms Community to help reduce suicide. The state Legislature Even focused on that, reducing suicide. I think well out a lot about what goes on in the human mind and human heart, and maybe that will help solve some of these problems. Thank you for your time this morning. Listening to that interview was steve hewitt, a senior lecturer in american studies at birmingham university. Hejoins us now. Good morning. This is a debate that we always have in this country after a shooting in america. You saw this unravel yesterday, people get so angry on both sides of the debate. Do you think there will be any change to american gun was after this killing . No. I say that because obviously this is one of a series of mass killings of the last few years. If we just mass killings of the last few years. If wejust go mass killings of the last few years. If we just go back to 2012 and the killing at Sandy Hook Elementary School where you had 20 children, six years old, who were shot and killed, teachers shot and killed, there was a concerted effort by president obama to try to bring about change. There is this element as well, we are talking about federal governments and state laws, connecticut brought in tighter laws but the federal level, the effort collapsed you cant change things when you have children being shot and killed, you contrast that with the dunblane killing here in the uk, how are things going to change . In orlando last year there were almost as many People Killed as yesterday. It doesnt seem to matter about the scale. I dont have any confidence that things will change, especially when you have a president who has been pro nra. When you have a president who has been pro nra. It is interesting talking to someone like our previous guest, he is talking about the mentality of the person with the gun. Talking about other countries, such as australia, when this has happened gun laws have been tightened. Does it make a difference . Yes, in australia, it has made a huge difference, wejust dont have those kind of killings. You see the continuation of attacks in the United States. The contrast with the United States as opposed to western europe is that they have legal easy access to not only firearms, but those that fire a large number of bullets very quickly. In australia, there was one particular mass killing and then there was organised a buyback of weapons. Thousands came in in a few weeks. It did make a difference. The difference is in the United States, you have the Second Amendment and a very entrenched gun culture. People are adamant, no matter how many people are killed. You have Public Opinion polls, after sandy hook Something Like 10 of americans thought on walls were too tight. It isa thought on walls were too tight. It is a very divided society. The nra is a very divided society. The nra is very powerful. They are putting money into campaigns that allows politicians to avoid dealing with this issue. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Good morning from bbc london news, im claudia liza armah. A bbc london investigation has found that millions of metres of potentially dangerous electrical cable may be installed in buildings around the uk. The defective cable was first spotted in 2010 but not all of it has been tracked down and destroyed. Safety experts say following the Grenfell Tower disaster, its a fire risk that musnt be ignored. This cable is like a match. If it is against a vapour wall, a plasterboard wall, it will ignite. It is like a bomb in the system. It is as dangerous. It doesnt explode all at once, at fire kills. But. The city of London Corporation is calling for the government to provide greater clarity over the future of International Workers in the uk after brexit. Research by the City Corporation shows that of the 450,000 workers in the square mile, over a third were born outside of the uk, with more over 10 born in the eu. The figures also show that these workers hold proportionally more senior positions in businesses. The first of two strikes is being held by transport workers in a dispute over driver only trains. Members of the rmt on Southern Rail Services have walked out until midnight tonight, with another 2a hour strike planned for thursday. Meanwhile members of the Drivers Union aslef on London Underground are also set to strike on thursday in a row over working conditions. Lets see how that strike is effecting services this morning. On the trains of course because of the strike by rmt conductors on southern and Greater Anglia. There are a few issues on southern a limited rush hour only service is running on the west london line. Most other routes are running as normal. Meanwhile, Greater Anglia is to run a full service, and on south western railway, delays are possible all day for trains in and out of waterloo. There are a few issues on the tube this morning, including on brixton road. Lets have a check on the weather now with elizabeth rizzini. We saw some sunshine around yesterday and some sunny spells today as well. Like breezy this morning, winds easing this weekend into the afternoon. A dry day today, quite chilly start. Temperatures into single figures, particularly away from towns. The best of the sunshine will be this morning, starting to see more cloud develop through the afternoon. With lighter winds this afternoon, still feeling pleasa nt winds this afternoon, still feeling pleasant in the bright and sunny spells. Pleasant temperatures in theory, lower than yesterday, around 15 17 theory, lower than yesterday, around 15 17 degrees. Small bright spells as we head towards the end of the day. Overnight, looking dry. Some clear skies at times, wait a bit of cloud. Temperatures dipping back into single figures, a chilly start to the day tomorrow. Wind picking up through tomorrow afternoon, a dry day with some more spells of brightness and sunshine. Then, this area of ratings going to be down from the south as we head into wednesday evening. So possibly quite a wet bar to the day on thursday, battering clearing to some sunny spells through the afternoon, and therell be more sunshine around at times, mostly dry as we head through to the end of the week. Im back with the latest from bbc london news in half an hour. Bye for now. Hello, this is breakfast, with Louise Minchin and dan walker. We will bring you the latest news and sport injust a moment. We will speak to the Prime Minister, theresa may, about her vision for the country, now and after brexit. Lady antebellum produced their most personal album so far. They will be here later to tell us why. Here is a summary of this mornings main stories from Bbc News Police in the United States say they have recovered a large quantity of weapons and explosives from the home of a man who carried out a mass shooting in las vegas. But they admit they are no nearer to discovering the motive of the gunman, Stephen Paddock. It has emerged that his father was a Notorious Bank Robber who was once one of the fbis most wanted men. The death toll has now reached 59, with more than 500 others injured. Detectives are combing through evidence to uncover the motive behind the shooting, and any other pertinent information that will help shed light on this horrible event. We have recovered 23 firearms at mandalay bay and 19 firearms at his home in mesquite. I want to emphasise, we believe paddock is solely responsible for this heinous act. Borisjohnson will address the conservative Party Conference in manchester today. The foreign secretary has been accused of undermining the Prime Minister on brexit. Theresa may has insisted the cabinet is united. It is the biggest failure in uk aviation history. Around 750,000 customers have been affected by the collapse of monarch, britains fifth Biggest Airline, which went into administration yesterday. The Civil Aviation authority has chartered more than 30 aircrafts to bring home over 100,000 customers from overseas. Joining us now from Central London is the chair of the caa, dame deirdre hutton. Good morning to you once again. Thank you very much for coming on the programme. Can you just let us know exactly how many people have been brought back already . Well, look. Day one went really well. We brought 12,000 people back yesterday. That was 61 flights, so that was brilliant. Today, day two, we are planning to bring back another just we are planning to bring back anotherjust on 12,000, we are planning to bring back another just on 12,000, and we are planning to bring back anotherjust on 12,000, and the first flight from ibiza has actually landed already. So going well so far, but it is a huge undertaking andi far, but it is a huge undertaking and i am sure there will be some glitches on the way before we get to the end of this. The programme is running until sunday 15 october. We we re running until sunday 15 october. We were getting lots of comments yesterday from people who were abroad and wondering exactly what to do. I know you are trying to get the not too worried and you have promised you will get everybody home. Are you trying to get them back to the uk, or back to the airport they flew from in the first place. What is the sort of duty of ca re place. What is the sort of duty of care with regards to that . Well, we are going to get them back to the uk, in the first place, and if it is not their original destination airport we will pass them. Some people have been bussed from manchester airport, and vice versa we will bus them. That happens because we have had to amalgamate flights, just because the aeroplanes we are using, you know, they are perhaps a different size than the ones which were originally scheduled by monarch. But everyone will get back to their original airport. By monarch. But everyone will get back to their original airportm is really a huge failure for the uk aviation industry. With this news about monarch, and the ongoing ryanair story, as well, are you expecting more bad news for British Airlines . No, the industry is actually very buoyant. In fact, during this year, passenger numbers have been up. Aeroplanes, the companies have been doing very well. Airports have been reporting record numbers. I think this was a particular set of issues for this particular set of issues for this particular company. You know, which is very sad. As you say, people overseas will be worried. Incidentally, we are planning to make sure that the schedule for the new flights is up 2a hours in advance, so people should expect to find theirflight advance, so people should expect to find their flight on the website 2a hours in advance. Just because we are getting into the rhythm of this, if by any chance your flight isnt there, then what you should do is get to the airport three hours before your original scheduled flight, before your original scheduled flight, because nobody will be brought back any earlier than that, or ring the call centre. We have had 20,000 calls to the call centre, and we are coping well with that. Ok, thank you very much for your time this morning. And that website address is www. Monarch. Cia and if you need the details of that call centre number, that is on that website as well. Caa. Catalans are going on strike today to protest against the violence that marred the regions independence referendum on sunday. Public transport will be shut down, schools will be closed, and hospitals will only treat emergency cases. Catalonias Regional Government says over 90 of voters opted for independence, but the poll was not recognised by the spanish government. It is believed he suffered a cardiac arrest at his home in california. He was best known for a string of hits with his band the heartbreakers. He also helped form the supergroup the travelling wilburys. You are up to date with the latest news. Lets find out what is happening in sport. The world cup for the fires are coming around again, but there is a new name to talk about. Harry winks has been capped at every level, and finally has his call to the senior squad. A few injuries have caused that. He is hardly a household name, but he is in the england squad for this weeks world cup qualifier against slovenia. In for fabian delph and philjones, who have both returned to their clubs because of injury, winks has started the last two games for his club side and has been promoted from the under 21s. England will reach the world cup if they beat slovenia on thursday. I think, you ithink, you know, it is i think, you know, it is a bit split half and half, that you have got to be thinking about it, and that is the target, but also we have the job in front of us to get there. So first and foremost is the next game, and make sure that we win that, finished top of the group. And another step to ourjourney. And have a look at this. There was a lovely moment as one of englands greatest ever players, sir bobby charlton, paid a visit to the squad at their St Georges Park Training Base yesterday. Ahead of his 80th birthday next week, he not only received a shirt, but had a pitch renamed in his honour, having won the world cup, of course, with england in 1966. Charlton won 106 caps and scored 49 goals for his country. Northern ireland take on germany on thursday, with scotland hosting slovakia. The scots need to win their last two games to guarantee finishing second, and a possible place in the play offs. It is not as tense sometimes it can be. So we have put ourselves in this position. This group of lads and the one or two that are not here put ourselves in this position to do what we can, to say what we will do in the future. There is Nothing Better than football, and you can decide how your future better than football, and you can decide how yourfuture is going better than football, and you can decide how your future is going to be. Wales play in georgia on friday. Now, if you were to guess at who has been named wales player of the year, you would probably say gareth bale, wouldnt you . But no, his four year run of success has come to an end. The title has gone to reading defender chris gunter. He has 81 International Caps to his name, only four short of gary speeds record for an outfield player. Former england captain Michael Vaughan says the culture in the england cricket squad must change. He says the incident involving ben stokes last week should be the signal that it is time for a new approach. Stokes is under investigation after being arrested following a brawl outside a bristol nightclub. He was released without charge. Mo farah is one of ten nominees for the iaaf world athlete of the year, after he retained his 10,000m title at the World Championships this summer. But sprint gold medallist Justin Gatlin has not made the short list. It is the First Time Since 2004 that the reigning world or olympic champion has been left out. Gatlin has served two doping bans, and that makes him ineligible. Something of a surprise, but they have actually change the rules. You cant actually be nominated if you have been found guilty of a drugs ban. I know he is a divisive character but it is strange that you can win world and olympic gold but not be nominated for athlete of the year. Nhs patients are being asked to take part in what is being called the worlds first trial for a universal flu jab. Researchers at Oxford University say it should offer years of protection against most strains of flu. Lets discuss this now with dr brian hope. Brian, tell us how this differs from previous vaccinations. The vaccination which is about at the moment, and people are getting, actually reacts to the surface of the virus, whereas this new research and new vaccine is trying to get to the core of the virus. The problem with the vaccine that we use at the minute is that it has to be changed every year, and occasionally they get the educated guess at slightly wrong, and the virus mutates. Therefore when you get the vaccine it doesnt give you as strong detection as you would like. This new vaccine works in a different way, and therefore would publicly give you protection for a longer period of time. In fact, hopefully it might be lifelong. Period of time. In fact, hopefully it might be lifelonglj period of time. In fact, hopefully it might be lifelong. I have read today that we might be in for a particularly bad season of flu. How do we know that . I think in australia at what happens is it sta rts australia at what happens is it starts in asia normally, flu epidemics, or the flu starts in asia and works its way around the globe, and works its way around the globe, and that is how Drug Companies and Vaccine Companies decide what Vaccine Companies decide what vaccine to make. Now, occasionally that can change, but if it starts and you have a bad time there, then it possibly, only possibly, could be working its way towards us over this winter. Do you think that, in terms of the people who are affected by this, why is it being trialled on the over 65 is . Is that an area where you have the most success . What is the thinking that . where you have the most success . What is the thinking that . I am headed in that direction myself, and u nfortu nately headed in that direction myself, and unfortunately what happens is your immune system does decline as you get older. And therefore the vaccine we have at the minute has left the fa ct we have at the minute has left the fact is we get older. It still is worth having, very, very worth having, but the new one, because it works in a different way, we are really boost that immunity and give you really boost that immunity and give you more really boost that immunity and give you more protection as you get older. Do you. Some people get flu jabs, forfree, older. Do you. Some people get flu jabs, for free, but older. Do you. Some people get flu jabs, forfree, but they . Do people ta ke jabs, forfree, but they . Do people take it up . Most people, yes. We are sending letters out, people are booking clinics. Most people who are at risk do take it up, but we have a ha rd core of at risk do take it up, but we have a hard core of people who say i have never been right since i had that vaccine, et cetera, et cetera. It can make you feel a little bit u nwell can make you feel a little bit unwell for 2h hours, i had can make you feel a little bit unwell for24 hours, i had mine a few days ago, but it protects you because it gives you good immunity. And i am sure you have had this in your own practice, how do you educate people against the dangers of not having this vaccination . Away i describe all vaccines is, to have the vaccine, whatever it is, is like walking across the road japan times with your eyes open. Not having the vaccine is like walking across the road ten times with your eyes shut. So it is always worth having. And have you had your is . so it is always worth having. And have you had your is . I have had mine. Picture in your analogy, and it works quite well. I wouldnt want to walk across the road with my eyes closed. Thank you very much. Lets find out what is happening in the weather today. Good morning. Very good morning to you as well. A little bit on the cool side this morning. The wind is still a blustery one coming in from the north west, but not as strong as we saw through yesterday, and for most of you, you will be treated to sunny spells on and off through the day. The best of the sunshine to the south and east of the country. The cloud in the south going off in the central europe. As you see, the grey colours to the north and west of the uk, showing a bit more cloud in parts of scotland and Northern Ireland. That will threaten a few passing showers, maybe the odd slightly heavier one but most will avoid them. Even if you do see a shower it will be fairly fleeting. The strongest winds in orkney and shetland throughout the day, but away from that a blustery, north westerly wind, but not as strong as yesterday. One or two showers in the West Midlands, into the north west of wales, if you are heading into the northern parts of wales, blue skies. Down in single figures, a chilly night. Those figures, a chilly night. Those figures will lift under the sunshine this morning. The sunshine obviously making it feel warm at this time of year. Where the cloud builds, into the afternoon, it will feel d ista ntly the afternoon, it will feel distantly cooler. In the north west of scotland, Northern England as well, some showers, but most will have a dry day. Temperatures not far from yesterdays values but the wind is not quite as strong as they were. Into the night, the breeze picks up on the northern half of the uk. Outbreaks of rain becoming longer lasting in scotland as the weather front works its way towards the central belt, with the first light on wednesday morning. Temperatures tonight are going to be dropping away quite markedly. To the north of that front, two or three degrees across the north of scotland. Three orfour across the north of scotland. Three or four mac across the north of scotland. Three orfour mac celsius in across the north of scotland. Three or four mac celsius in scotland and east anglia. Another dry day ahead, with sunny spells. More cloud tomorrow in Northern England, southern scotland, Northern Ireland, outbreaks of rain becoming heavier and more persistent into the afternoon. The far north of scotland, sunny spells and one or two showers. Temperatures down on the days values, giving us more cloud around and blocking out some of that sunshine. As we finished the day it will be a wet evening rush hour, the same across Northern England as well. A little wave in the weather front, developing an area of low pressure pushing across the central swathe of the uk, bringing some not only heavy rain but some strong winds. England and wales likely to see the strongest of the winds into wednesday morning so it may be a night in which your sleep is a little bit disturbed but the winds will gradually push away the winds will gradually push away the rain. Showers through the day, to the north and east of the this time. What you will notice by thursday is with sunny spells that wind will make it feel distinctly chilly. And that chilly north west wind will be with us into friday as well. Thank you very much. Have you got your big coats out . No. My have you got your big coats out . No. My wife is very early on the big coat. Bringing home over 100,000 passengers since the collapse of Monarch Airlines is set to cost about £60 million. Theyve been a part of our lives for over 30 years, but you have just 13 days left to spend any old pound coins that might be lining your purses and pockets. To tell us why its all change, brea kfasts tim muffett is at the royal mint for us. You are dressed and ready to go this is certainly a look. An historic organisation, it was in london and since then it has been here in south wales. They have been turning out these for quite sometime. A huge range, the pound coin. This is where the old pound coins come when they are handed in. That is the message. You havejust 13 days to spend them. They will be melted down once they come here. There are around £55,000 worth of old pound coins. It has been a huge undertaking for the royal mint and the treasury. We have been assessing what challenges there are and how well things have been going as we make the transition from the old pounds to the new one. All change again. When the new pound coin was introduced in march, this company had to adapt 4000 vending machines. For seven months, both coins have been accepted, but not for much longer. Weve got to programme them so that they will just take the new coins and reject the old ones. Realistically, i dont think the royal mint realise how big a job and how difficult this will be. How much has this cost your business . M how difficult this will be. How much has this cost your business . It has personally cost us over £250,000. After it 11 59pm on sunday, october 15, businesses will no longer be obliged to accept the old £1 coin. It will cease being legal tender. Will you miss these . Yes, we will, theyve been around for quite sometime. They are easy to find in your purse. You know the shape of them. The new ones tend to be a bit shiny, i have to keep looking at them to check what they are. The royal mint and the treasury said the introduction of the new pound coin has generally gone well. They say the short term costs will be outweighed by long term benefits. The new coin is much harder to forge. Over the summer, a survey found that over one fifth of councils had not converted their parking meters to the new coins. I got a parking ticket because i put in the wrong pound coin. How much was the fine . £70. More councils have carried out the upgrades, but some machines remain unable to take the new pound. Remain unable to take the new the value of the coin is proportionate to the scarcity. You will still be able to change old pound that the bank, but some might be worth keeping. In 2011, there was a series of round coins released. They represented Capital Cities of the United Kingdom. The edinburgh city pound coin is the most scarce. Only around 900,000 of these were minted. Often hundreds of millions of coins are created when a new designers launched. Cardiff and the london coin, they all have low mint figures. What might this be worth . Presently, on auction sites, they are selling for between 12 and £16, but once the pound coin is demonetised, we expect it to hit about £30 or £40. Before you spend your last pounds, they might be worth a second glance. You can see behind me, a huge amount of old coins are being poured into a furnace. The metal will be used to create a new pound coin. It is they reared recycling process. That is why people are having a cheque. If you have any old coins, you have only 13 days to spend them. Taking them back after that will be much harder. It is amazing to think that there are £55,000 worth in one tub. They get through around £1. 9 million of old coins being melted down. It has been such an undertaking. A lot of checking to be done. Looking behind the back of a lot of sofas. Have a look and spend those coins while you can. It is amazing to be able to see what is going on there this morning. Quite brilliant. We will be back a bit later. Red to get a camera inside the royal mint rare. A look in your gym bag and that of thing. After seven oclock, we will be back in las vegas. Reflecting on the death of 59 people, 500 injured. Were also talking about the issue of gun control, which is a very fascinating topic us. Such a different culture for us. Some fascinating statistics. The New York Times printed the statistic, 1 million, over1 Million People were killed in battlefields, and even more than that were killed by firearms in the us since 1968. We heard that people are still arguing that it heard that people are still arguing thatitis heard that people are still arguing that it is not guns that kill people, it is people who kill people. We have heard so many stories this morning from people who have rescued others and effectively sacrificed themselves. More about that later. We are also speaking to the Prime Minister in about ten minutes. Glowing cable is like a match. If it is against a vapour wall, a plasterboard wall, it will ignite. It is like a bomb in the system. A bomb . It is as dangerous. It doesnt explode all at once, but fire kills. Meanwhile, Greater Anglia has some cancellations, and on south western railway, delays are possible all day for trains in and out of waterloo. On the cheap, there is a minor delay on the bakerloo line. The rest of the lines are running as normal. And gas works continue in kennington, meaning brixton road is down to one lane near to vassall road. Lets have a check on the weather now with elizabeth rizzini. We saw some sunshine around yesterday and some sunny spells today as well. Quite breezy this morning, winds easing this weekend into the afternoon. A dry day today, quite a chilly start. Temperatures into single figures, particularly away from towns. The best of the sunshine will be this morning, starting to see more cloud develop through the afternoon. With lighter winds this afternoon, still feeling pleasant in the bright and sunny spells. Pleasant temperatures in theory, lower than yesterday, around 15 17 degrees. Small bright spells as we head towards the end of the day. Overnight, looking dry. Some clear skies at times, quite a bit of cloud. Temperatures dipping back into single figures, a chilly start to the day tomorrow. Wind picking up through tomorrow afternoon, a dry day with some more spells of brightness and sunshine. Then, this area of rain is going to creep down from the south as we head into wednesday evening. So possibly quite a wet start to the day on thursday, but clearing to some sunny spells through the afternoon, and therell be more sunshine around at times, mostly dry as we head through to the end of the week. Im back with the latest from bbc london news in half an hour. Hello, this is breakfast, with Louise Minchin and dan walker. Police try to work out the motive of the gunman who carried out one of the worst Mass Shootings in american history. The death toll from the attack on a Music Festival in las vegas has now risen to 59, with more than 500 others injured. It was the scariest time of my life. I thought it was over, i really did. I didnt know whether to get up, to run, to stay, to duck. It was i didnt know if it was safe to move, just because of everything that was going on. Police discover explosives and weapons in the home of the gunman, Stephen Paddock, as it emerges his father was once one of the fbis most wanted men. Good morning, it is tuesday 3 october. Thousands of monarch customers are on their way home, after the Airline Collapsed yesterday. Leadership battles, boris, and brexit. We will be talking to the Prime Minister, theresa may, in a just few minutes time. Thousands of monarch customers are on their way home. I look at what the options for those who are owed money. Harry winks gets a call up for the world cup qualifiers. All the weather details coming up in 15 minutes. Good morning. First, our main story police in the United States say they have recovered a large quantity of weapons and explosives from the home of a man who carried out a mass shooting in las vegas. But they admit they are no nearer to discovering the motive of the gunman, Stephen Paddock. The death toll has now reached 59, with more than 500 others injured. Our north america correspondent laura bicker reports from las vegas. Gunshots. As the first spray of bullets cracked through the Country Music melody, some in the crowd fell to the ground. Others ran. They hoped for it all to end, but the carnage just didnt seem to stop. 80 miles away, in the retirement village of mesquite, police found more guns, explosives and ammunition at the home of the gunman. 64 year old Stephen Paddock was a retired accountant and high stakes gambler, who held a hunting licence. His family knew he had a few guns, but they had no idea he had stockpiled a deadly arsenal of weapons. Very little is known about Stephen Paddock. Police have so far found no link to domestic or International Terrorism, and he had no Strong Political views. So it is here at his house that they hope to find the evidence to answer the key question what drove him to commit mass murder . 24 hours on, and the first Vigil Services are being held, to try to make sense of what took place, in a city usually full of frivolous fun. All faiths are represented here, as they try to find some comfort in one another. Elsewhere, hundreds lined up around the hospital to give blood, to help the over 500 people wounded in the shooting. Las vegas can often feel like a tourist town. Now, the city wants to show it has a defiant, dignified community, in the face of such horror. Our correspondent Gary Odonoghue joins us now from las vegas. Thank you for talking to us on brea kfast thank you for talking to us on breakfast today. Can you give us the very latest on the investigation . Well, but the police are continuing to look into Stephen Paddocks background. They have only had a day, really, to do all that. They have found this extraordinary number of weapons, 23 in the hotel room itself, another 19 at the house in mesquite. They have also found explosives and thousands of rounds of ammunition, but they have not found a motive, so they will be going through any kind of computer equipment they have found, any phones, talking to this friends and family, to try and understand why he did what he did. The family on the face of it have no idea. No one else can really understand it. So that is the big question at the moment. Meanwhile, of course, we have still got hundreds of people who were wounded. Some of those are still in a Critical Condition in hospital. And we have seen over the last few hours in las vegas a number of candlelit vigil is, people coming together and trying to reassure and comfort one another after what has been one of the blackest days, really, in terms of gun law in america. Thank you very much for that. I suppose alongside the story of what happened yesterday, in terms of what happened yesterday, in terms of the gunman and the 59 People Killed, there are some Amazing Stories of lives saved, as well. Lots of papers talking about it. This is one example from the times, talking about mike mcgarry, who shielded this children from gunshots and there are actually marks on the back of this shirt with the prince of people who stepped over him in the rush to save their own lives. So real stories of sacrifice, one man who died driving this wife to safety. One womans husband saved her life, and she posted a tribute saying he saved my life, i want to run to know what a kindhearted man he was. And the issue of gun control has come up. One of the people on stage has posted something which has caused much discussion. He says i have been a proponent of the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms, my entire life, until the events of last night. He says i cannot express how wrong i was. He says they had legal firearms on the bus, and they we re legal firearms on the bus, and they were useless, he couldnt touch them forfear were useless, he couldnt touch them for fear that the police would think he was part of the massacre and shoot them. He said he wrote goodbye to this parents and a living will because he feared he would not live through the night. That was enough to realise this was completely and totally out of hand. That is a debate we are having this morning as well. We will try and get through some of those arguments later in the programme, as well. Flights returning hundreds of thousands of passengers from overseas after the Airline Monarch collapsed will cost about £60 million, according to the uk airline regulator. The Civil Aviation authority, are who are essentially now in charge of trying to repatriate all of the monarch customers who are currently abroad. We know that 61 flight to about 12,000 people. There will be another 58 flights today, ringing around another 12,000 people. It is around another 12,000 people. It is a huge operation. Essentially the Civil Aviation authority is now running a huge airline to try and bring all of these people back. And there is still a lot of people out there. If you are on holiday and you have a Monarch Flight booked in the next two weeks, dontjust have a Monarch Flight booked in the next two weeks, dont just suddenly think you have to go home. Your flight think you have to go home. Your flight will still be on the same day. They might not be at the same time, so it could be a few hours different, and you might not go back to exactly the same airport which you originally were meant to go to, but they will bus you to where you need to go. We were hearing that some people have been flown to manchester and bust to birmingham. So you will get home eventually. The other issue is all of the people who have flights going from the uk to other countries bussed. A lot of those people have had their holidays cancelled, have had those flights cancelled, have had those flights cancelled, who are now trying to get their money back. So we know that there is obviously this website, monarch. Caa. Co. Uk, and there were Something Like 3 million views of that website yesterday, so lots of people trying to get information. At the key messages to try and get money back, there are lots of options, some easier than others. You should be owed money. And if you have just joined you should be owed money. And if you havejustjoined us, theresa may will be with us in a few minutes time. The catalonian Authorities Say almost 900 people needed medical attention after clashes with police at the weekend. Bosses at uber will meet with transport for london later. They are renegotiating their deal in the capital. Nhs patients are being asked to take part in what is being called the worlds first trial for a universal flu jab. Researchers at Oxford University say it should offer years of protection against most strains of flu. People aged 65 and older who live in berkshire and oxfordshire are being invited to volunteer. Last april, theresa may called the general election, in order to guarantee certainty and stability, only to then lose her parliamentary majority. Four months on, and the mood at the conservative Party Conference has been described as downbeat, with rumours of cabinet infighting and leadership challenges hitting the headlines. The Prime Ministerjoins us now. A very good morning to you. Thank you very much indeed forjoining us. When you became Prime Minister, you said your mission was to fight burning injustice facing the poor and underprivileged. We have seen average wages going down, we have seen average wages going down, we have seen inflation going up. What concrete proposals have you to make it better . Well, you are absolutely right. When i stood on the steps of number ten when i first became Prime Minister i was very clear about the mission for the government, and that mission for the government, and that mission continues, and that is what people have been hearing about here at this Party Conference. So they have been hearing, for example, about what we want to do to help those young people who fear that in the future they will be worse off than their parents, and that is about helping young people in the housing market. We have extended, for example, £10 million extra going into help to buy, so an extra 100,000 people will be held to have the ability to get their first home, get the first rung on the housing ladder. But there are many issues in our society we do need to deal with. That is why one of the early decisions i took as Prime Minister was to conduct a Racial Disparity audit, to look at how different elements of our society are treated bya elements of our society are treated by a whole range of areas within the public sector. And we will be looking at the full details of that next week. The results do make uncomfortable reading. We see that people from black and minority ethnic communities have a high rate of unemployment compared with other people in our society and in our country, and we want to do something about that. That is why we are going to put in place 20 hot zones around the country, where people from bme communities will be given extra support and mentoring to help them get into the workplace. It is concrete action the government is taking to deal with these injustices in our society. Lets talk about, andi in our society. Lets talk about, and i will refer you to your words, ifi and i will refer you to your words, if i could, he told a nurse during the campaign that there is no magic money tree, but there is money for students, the housing policy, on rail improvements for the north of england. What about money for nurses, for teachers, for care workers who are having real difficulties . Well, as you may also know, of course, up until now, the last two years, there has been a 1 pay cap across the public sector, that has been a blanket cap across the public sector, and the pay awards the review bodies came forward with this year for teachers and for nurses, we respected those, the level that they set. As we did for the pay review bodies because results for prison officers and police officers, which were slightly different from others. What we set for next year is we accept that there needs to be a degree of flexibility in the system, in looking at these issues. But of course, everything that we do does need to be affordable, and that is why we recognise that you need to ta ke why we recognise that you need to take a balanced approach to our economy. So yes, we have to deal with our debts, we have to be careful about our public finances. But it is by doing that, by maintaining a strong economy, that we are able also to do what we are doing, which is put record levels of funding into our public services. Can you tell me, then, that nurses, teachers and care workers will get more money . Well, the way that we do this is that we ask an independent group of people, the pay review body, to come up with their proposals for nurses paid, for teachers pay, we do the same for police officers, for the armed forces, for prison officers, and we went to hear the results of what those independent people are saying to us. And then obviously government ta kes to us. And then obviously government takes the decision. What we have done is said to those groups of people, as they look at nurses pay and teachers because pay for the future, and others in the public sector, that we expect that they will be looking at a degree of flexibility. We accept there needs to be some flexibility. We have had a blanket cap in the past. We axe at there needs to be some flexibility, but of course, it all needs to be affordable, for the taxpayer, many of whom are nurses and teachers and people working in the public sector. We know that universal credit has been rolled out. In the areas where it has been rolled out, eight out of ten people are ready behind in their rent. We have accepted these problems. Are you going to continue with the rollout even with these problems. . With the rollout even with these problems. . We have seen that the delivery of universal credit is improving as it is being rolled out. We a cce pt improving as it is being rolled out. We accept that we need to continue this. We need to move to this system because it is a better system of payments. Or somebody earns, because it is a better system of payments. Orsomebody earns, more they will be able to keep. We have spoken to a nurse who said she was over £100 better off than she would be working though she was on benefits. Many people found if they went into the workplace from benefits, they lost out significantly. That is why you heard people saying they felt they were better off on benefits. That is not good. We want to incentivise people to benefit their families. Good. We want to incentivise people to benefit theirfamilies. We good. We want to incentivise people to benefit their families. We want to benefit their families. We want to see people progressing in their workplace. I think it is better to have a system of benefits that helps people to get into work. That is what universal credit does. There have been some problems with delivering it, we have been working on this and performance has been improving. We will be continuing to look at it to make sure it is working as well as it can. What have you learnt about your leadership and what have you changed . One of the key things i learned when i became the Prime Minister, i had set out a mission for government. I did it on the steps of downing street injuly 2000 and 16. That message, that mission for the government did not come across during the election campaign. Here at the conference, people are seeing what we are doing to deliver on that mission so that we are truly building a country that works for everyone. Do you agree with Boris Johnsons works for everyone. Do you agree with borisjohnsons red lines on brexit . Boris johnson fined up to the foreign speech, the entire cabinet did that i gave. That set out a matter of ten days ago, it set out a matter of ten days ago, it set out our vision for the deep and special partnership that we would have with the european union. I think that has been an important contribution. I have had positive responses from other european your leaders on that speech. We all wa nt to leaders on that speech. We all want to have the best possible deal for the uk when we leave the uk and we are focused on building a global britain, which is about taking opportunities that are open to britain. You didnt answer as to whether you will agree with as johnsons red lines. Does Boris Johnsons red lines. Does Boris Johnson cross a red line to you . M you look at the issues he has been talking about, i set out those issues in the florid speech. All members of the cabinet signed up to that and agreed this was the right approach for the government to take. You will be hearing from Boris Johnson today at about how we are building a global britain, one which will take the opportunities and the optimistic ambitions about our future once we leave the european union. I minister, you have been criticised previously for not answering question. The question is, when does Boris Johnson answering question. The question is, when does borisjohnson cross a red line for you . Answer to that is that i dont set red lines. The way that eve ryo ne i dont set red lines. The way that everyone uses this phrase, red lines, i dont use red lines. All i would say is that actually, i think leadership is about ensuring that you have a team of people of different voices around the table so that we can discuss matters, come to an agreement and put that view forward. That is exactly what we have done. Prime minister theresa may, thank you very much for your time. Finding out what our Political Correspondent thinks about that. She was inside the building you are standing outside of now. You couldnt accuse the wheeze of not asking the questions, but dont make questions, could you . No, she did push back the parsley. We did get a real sense from the Prime Minister, it has been a theme of this conference, if not the slogan, that anything but brexit is what she would rather talk about than getting drawn into the inevitable psychodrama and the conversation about red lines. There are clearly red lines, we saw that in the intervention from Boris Johnson red lines, we saw that in the intervention from borisjohnson on the weekend, there are different outlooks around the cabinet table about that flavours of wrecks at the council should sign up to. Things like how long the transition period should be our absolutely relevant. We heard in the early part of the conversation with the Prime Minister, a real desire for her to return to those themes that she spelt out when she started as Prime Minister that was a reference to the remarks you made on the steps of downing street. She is clearly having an issue with feeling that there was not of an offer of a focus on that during the election campaign. That could have been one factor to the conservatives not doing as well she would have hoped. Thank you very much forjoining us. Borisjohnson will be addressing that conservative Party Conference later on. The main stories this morning. Police are working to establish the motive behind a mass shooting which left at least 59 people dead and more than 500 injured at a las vegas concert. The airline regulator says it will cost around £60 million to bring home passengers stuck overseas after the collapse of Monarch Airlines. Time now for a check on the weather. It got quite windy yesterday. A little bit later today, if youre about to head out the door. Foremost, a dry day with sunny spells. Cloud and rain in the English Channel, that has pushed into central europe. Bringing in an area from europe, the chance of some passing showers. Your morning commute, nothing desperately heavy or lasting too long. A strong breeze towards the far north east of scotland, that will strengthen even further later on. Foremost, the wind is not as as yesterday. Showers into Northern England, the West Midlands and west wales. Good parts of england and west wales, blue skies overhead. A little bit on the chilly side, but once you have the sun out, on your back, it should feel pleasa nt on your back, it should feel pleasant enough. Enough strength in that sunshine. When you lose it through the day, a bit more cloud buildup through the morning. It will start to feel a bit cooler. Passing showers in northern scotland, western ireland and Northern England. Foremost, a dry day. Temperatures 15 17 degrees. Not far off the values of yesterday. Wind strengthening across scotland and Northern Ireland. Rain in bigger spells of scotland and Northern Ireland. Clearer skies further south. We will see temperatures dropping the furthest in the top and tail of the country. Tomorrow overall, a chilly day. Dry and reasonably sunny weather across the south. Sunny spells and a few showers in northern scotland. A strong wind, severe gales in orkney and shetland. North wales, we will see the bulk of the weather. Turning wet through the day, especially into the evening rush hour. Working is woods, part of this area of low pressure, working its way into a central swathes of the country. Strong winds, could be a wild night for some across england and wales. Wednesday into thursday, strong list of winds, outbreaks of rain clearing from the south and east. Sunny spells and a few showers to the north and east of the country. Winds into the north west, feeling cool. Dan and louise, definitely a day for a jacket. I knew it. The american rock musician tom petty has died. He is best known for a string of hits with his personal supergrip and string of hits with his personal super grip and with the group the travelling wilburys. We take a look back. 1977 that long, blonde hair, rake thin, cool as can be. Tom petty epitomised a classic, straight from the heart of blue collar sound, going on to become one of the biggest selling artists of all time. She might need a lot of loving, but she dont need you. Along with his band the heartbreakers, he specialised in melody, intelligence, and sincerity. Tom petty was born in gainesville, florida, in 1950, his interest in music prompted by a meeting with Elvis Presley when he was ten years old. He formed the heartbreakers in the mid 70s, although initially, they were more popular in the uk than the us. Its alright, as long as you lend a hand. Later, he would join the rocknroll supergroup the travelling wilburys, releasing two hugely successful albums. But he would carry on recording and performing with the heartbreakers almost until the day he died. Tom petty once said, if you do something you really like, and hopefully it pays the rent, as far as im concerned, thats success. So many great songs, we will all probably be singing that today. Lots of responses from so many people who enjoyed listening to his songs. One famous producer said, rest in peace, you will not be forgotten. Bonjovi said he had lost one of his greatest influences. John maher said, i love tom petty, i covered so many of his songs because i wanted to know what it was like to learn to fly mayer. His music is the soundtrack to so many of my lifes fondest memories. Would you turn up to work as mac i enjoy work it is a lot of money. We are at the royal mint, and tim muffett is at the royal mint. He said we have 13 days left to spend our old pound coins, and it is estimated there are 500 million old pound coins. So we dont need to win the lottery, we just need to find the lottery, we just need to find the coins. It is worth ten minutes of your time to have a bit of a hunt around the sofa, coat pockets, handbags, shoes, wherever you might have lost a pound. I love the feeling when you put on a winter coat and find a £5 note. Small things. Is there much down the back of this sofa . No, no chance of that. Louise looks every day. Tottenham are louise looks every day. Tottenham a re pretty louise looks every day. Tottenham are pretty good at producing handy harries. As we know, the success that harry kane has achieved of late, and lets hope that harry winks can achieve the same, as he is called up. It is a bit of a blend of old and new at england training. Ithink, you know, its a bit split half and half that youve got to be thinking about it, and thats the target, but also, we have the job in front of us to get there. So first and foremost is the next game, and make sure that we win that, finish top of the group, and another step to ourjourney. Northern ireland take on germany on thursday, with scotland hosting slovakia. The scots need to win their last two games to guarantee finishing second, and a possible place in the play offs. Theres Nothing Better in football, and you can decide how your future is going to be. It might sound surprising that he can enjoy such success on the track but cant be nominated for the athlete of the year award, but he is a divisive character. It seems strange you can compete, but something as simplistic as a an award like that, you cant be nominated. And he can win a gold medal. I dont think gatlin will be too annoyed about that. Thank you, see you later on. We will talk more this morning about what happened in las vegas, and it was unfolding at this time yesterday. We are hearing desperate stories and also stories of extraordinary heroism as well. At this point yesterday we were telling you that there were only two people confirmed dead, and that confirmed about now stands at 59 people we know have died, and hundreds more injured. Thousands were enjoying a performance when the gunman struck. The music stopped, and they said drop, and everyone dropped, and people were charging. Knocking over grills, jumping over fences, people were charging. Knocking over grills, jumping overfences, getting out. All of a sudden there were i thought fireworks and then i saw glass shatter everywhere, and two or three windows came out, and machine gun fire out that direction. The bartenders were saying there has beena the bartenders were saying there has been a shooting, i was, like a white . It is firecrackers. Ijumped down and said i have to get out there and get my wife. She was at there and get my wife. She was at the front section of the stage. It was the scariest time of my life. I thought it was over, i really did. I didnt know whether to get up, to run, to stay, to duck. It was i didnt know if it was safe to move, just because of everything that was going on. I honestly thought we were done. I had no idea where my mother was. I thought it was over, i really did. As police try and find out a little more about Stephen Paddock, you might have seen this interview with his brother eric, who gave us this reaction. I couldnt be more dumbfounded. I mean, it doesnt. There is nothing. So last communication. I can show you the text. He said how is mum . Did you get power . That is it. Like i said, we have nothing. I mean, i hope someone we have nothing. I mean, i hope someone finds out, figures out. Because we would like to know. That is eric paddock, speaking about his brother stephen. And those are the pictures which are dominating the papers. And you see the desperation as people try and flee the bullets being fired, leaping overfences as people try and flee the bullets being fired, leaping over fences as fast as they can to try and escape. They talk about running between volleys of gunfire, dont they . Taking the opportunity to run, and so many story is inside the newspaper, as well stories. There isa newspaper, as well stories. There is a story about an off duty arizona firefighter who was shot in the leg while protecting his wife. A retired teacher who braved gunfire and used his own shirt to stop the bleeding ofa his own shirt to stop the bleeding of a friend. Mike, who is in las vegas for his 40th birthday and was carrying a friend, one of the four wounded, but his best friend died. He says i am no hero. Lots of people saying that, they did what they thought they had to do in that situation. This man was 29 and died protecting his wife, heather, from the gunfire. She has been talking about him, saying he was the most kindhearted, loving man i have ever met. He saved my life and lost his. And some british troops in california, they heard the gunfire, and many thought it was firecrackers, and they rushed in. And taylor winston, who sprung to save his friend. He was helping people over a fence and fled the bullets coming down the crowd as well. So many stories of heroism. It is impossible to think about what that situation must have been like. Thousands of people they are, and gunfire raid raining down on them from the 32nd floor of the mandalay bay hotel. We are looking at the weather, and talking about chilly temperatures. Good morning. Good morning to you. A little bit on the cold side once again. A few more cold side once again. A few more cold mornings to come through the rest of this week but at least today, compared to yesterday morning, the wind is not as strong for many of you and most. The day dry with some sunshine as well. We saw the rain across southernmost counties of england. That cloud has gone off in the central parts of europe. We are dragging in cooler airfrom the north europe. We are dragging in cooler air from the north and west. There is always more cloud in these areas facing the north and west. Here we are likely to see a few passing showers for the morning commute. You might get wet, but the showers will not be with you for any particular length of time. Not as many as yesterday morning, pushing through and quite risk on the breeze that we do have. The wind strongest across the north east of scotland, around orkney and shetland. Elsewhere the wind down on yesterday. A few showers for Northern England and wales. Southern and eastern parts of england largely dry. Down in the little figures overnight. Lifting with the sunshine and it should be quite nice ones you are in the sunshine today. Still enough strength to that son, but in cloudy moments we will see more cloud built through the day. It will feel cool in the breeze. Still a few showers in the breeze. Still a few showers in the northern and western scotland but the odd one in Northern Ireland and Northern England as well as north wales. Temperatures similar to yesterday but with lighter winds. Into the night, showers across scotla nd into the night, showers across scotland will be replaced by some longer spells of rain later on. They will push from the highlands and islands down towards central parts of scotla nd islands down towards central parts of scotland by dawn. Away from that, only one or two isolated showers. Clearer skies in the south and east. A few showers into the morning, so called a night tonight and the same will be said in the far north of scotland. A few degrees above freezing for many. Strong to Gale Force Winds here and windy day for the northern half of the uk tomorrow. Lighter winds further south. Largely dry here. Sunny spells, sunshine turning hazy at times. Sunshine with a few showers in the north of scotland. In southern scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England and north wales, a lot more cloud with outbreaks of rain developing through the day. They become heavy and persistent into the evening and overnight. Some of that rain especially heavy over the hills but also turning heavy. Might be disturbed night for sleeping wednesday into thursday, england and wales in particular, as this report of a weather front pushes its way eastwards. We could see gales or severe gales for one or two, but that will clear away in the early morning. Early rain for east of england replaced by sunshine and a few showers. Showers are likely to be in the north and east. Wherever you are, quite a chilly breeze. That is how it is looking. Over the past few weeks, we have been speaking to some inspirational businesswomen. And we at speaking to some rather well known women in retail . Yes, good morning everyone. Women do the majority of the nations shopping, but they are few and far between when it comes to the topjobs in retail. Angela has held seniorjobs at asda and debenhams. And she is with us today. Good morning. Tell us a bit about your background and how you got to where you are . Just quickly, not my whole cv. Idid you are . Just quickly, not my whole cv. I did a degree in psychology, i am very interested in what makes people tick. Rather than putting it to use in society, i went into marketing. Consumer goods for about ten years. I then got tempted away by asda. | ten years. I then got tempted away by asda. I started my retail career at asda, i thought it was frenetic and chaotic. I thought i would stay there for two years, but i am still here in retail 32 years later and i absolutely here in retail 32 years later and i a bsolutely love here in retail 32 years later and i absolutely love it. Given there are so few women in retail, why do you think that is . It has changed a lot in the time i have been in retail. To begin with, i would go to Networking Events and seminars. I was the only woman in a room of 100 men. I was tough, those dynamics have changed considerably. When you look at those types of organisations, they are still quite thin in terms of leaders. I think it is about the development pipeline. I think it is going to get better. I think it is going to get better. I think it is the responsibility of tiananmen, of business leaders, of recruiters who support the industry to always make sure that there are female candidates in the frame. I am not talking about positive discrimination, but i am talking about making sure there are talented women on the candidate list. We know that there are some there. If i get a list of search from a firm and there are no women on it, i put it straight back without evaluating on it. There should be at least 50 female candidates. We all have to ta ke female candidates. We all have to take responsibility. Given that you just said youve gone through this period where you were the only woman, how did you do with that . Some people say that to me, it can be really intimidating. I always talk about, you need three things to be successful in business. You need to be good at something, have an ability. You have to be lucky, right place, right time. But you need to be brave. You have got to have courage. You have to take things in your stride. That is where women have to still themselves to kind of ta ke have to still themselves to kind of take these maternity is and go for it. It is expected that women will do this. I think a lot of it is to do this. I think a lot of it is to do with determination and personality. It is intimidating. It is very different now. Is inspirational to hear talking about that. Talking about retail, i talk about it a lot on this programme. What is the Retail Sector like the moment . For me, it is exciting and interesting. I have decided to work with a business that is predominantly online. There is a great trend towards Online Shopping that you will definitely see and you have talked a lot about. I think its tough if you are running a big state of stores. More and more pressure is coming on to stores. You have to deliver a retail experience, it is not just have to deliver a retail experience, it is notjust enough to have a shop. People are shopping in many different ways. I think that is quite challenging. I think the consumer backdrop is quite tricky. There is a lot of uncertainty in the air. Brexit has been a part of that. Consumers are feeling the pinch from inflation. Retailers have to consistently compete and really look after customers to make sure that they can continue to grow profitably. Its tough. They can continue to grow profitably. Its tough. What are your thoughts on brexit . So far it has been very challenging for two reasons. One is has been very challenging for two reasons. One is consumer has been very challenging for two reasons. One is Consumer Confidence and uncertainty about the future, that will continue until the issues are put to bed. The other thing is currency, we buy a lot of our goods overseas. The pound has been weak since the brexit decision. That has been tough as well. Taking a more positive spin, for our company, we have global aspirations. We are starting to grow our business nicely. That is very lucrative in terms of generating a uk business, selling products overseas. That is a big ambition for us. That is a positive ambitions. Thank you for talking to us. So much of that was really inspirational. Be brave is what i am going to take away from that. You have to steal yourself. Yes, be brave. That might work for us all. Theyve been a part of our lives for over 30 years, but you have just 13 days left to spend any old pound coins that might be lining your purses and pockets. To tell us why its all change, brea kfasts tim muffett is at the royal mint for us. You are dressed and ready to go this is certainly a look. We are in a special part we are all coins are melted down. All the coins which are no longer part of circulation. £55,000 worth per type of old pound coins. Only 13 days left to spend them. How have things been doling . The furnaces have fired up been doling . The furnaces have fired up before another load gets poured in. Lets have a look and find out how the transition has been taking place. All change again. Change again. The value of the coin is proportionate to the scarcity. You will still be able to change old pound that the bank, but some might be worth keeping. In 2011, there was a series of round coins released. They represented Capital Cities of the United Kingdom. The edinburgh city pound coin is the most scarce. Only around 900,000 of these were minted. Often hundreds of millions of coins are created when a new design is launched. You are the technical director of the launch, how has it been going . It has been a really successful project. When the project was announced in 2014, it was a huge effort to get new coins out. It has been really good. There are still £500 million of them out there . M is not long to go, but we have already pulled in 1. 2 billion of the old pound. We have asked the public to get their hands down the side of us, get those pounds in. It is a really interesting insight as to how coins operate. £110,000, it is quite something. Later on, well find out how those coins are melted. Its its amazing, isnt it . Its amazing, isnt it . Thank you. Do you remember when we had the first new coins, i dropped it down the back of the sofa but we did find it. You have checked the entire sofa for all the pound coins . Yes, i have old. Time now to get the news, travel and weather where you are. Good morning from bbc london news, im claudia liza armah. Las vegas can often feel very much like a tourist town. Now, the city wants to show it has a defiant, dignified community, in the face of such horror. That was laura baker. We can go live to las vegas now and our correspondent is there. There are developers all the time does what is the latest you can bring us on the Police Investigation . Well, the Police Investigation . Well, the police have now searched that house in mesquite, north of las vegas, and they found a whole hall of extra weapons, including large quantities of ammunition and some explosives and some electronic devices, they are describing it as. That is on top of the 23 weapons that were found in the hotel room. 23 weapons in one hotel room, along with scopes and ammunition and even tripods to rest these high calibre automatic weapons on. That is where they are. They are still obviously trying to dig into the background of Stephen Paddock, find out what his motives might have been. At the moment nothing is standing out in terms of what might have driven him to this, or caused him to do this. They have said it is nothing to do with International Terrorism despite claims from the Islamic State group that he was a soldier of theirs. But, at the moment, really there is no idea about what else might have led to the worst shooting in modern history. Thank you for talking to us this morning that stories on the front page of so many of the papers, not just front page of so many of the papers, notjust in front page of so many of the papers, not just in united front page of so many of the papers, notjust in United Kingdom at around the world as well. As louise said earlier, sometimes there are still images, once you cannot get out of your mind. These three young people are holding each others hands and they are running for their lives. There are so many stories about heroism on that day which no doubt kept the death toll. I know it is incredibly high that kept lower than it could have been full lets tell you about one of duty arizona firefighter, a father of three, he was shot in the leg while protecting his wife. Apparently he was hit in the right ankle while he was lying on top of his wife to protect her. Another story about a former marine corps taylor and his friend, jen. They were helping people by lifting them over a fence. They broke the fence down ran through as many as they could. They found an unattended truck. The keys were there. They used the trucks to transport as many people as they could to one of the local hospitals but you may have seen on local hospitals but you may have seen on the ten oclock news last night there was a surgeon speaking about constantly working, trying to save lives and people turning up all the time yesterday. Well over 500 injured in that shooting. So much work still to be done to try to find out why he did it. Then the continuing debate now about gun control, both here in america and something well be talking about as well. Another thing we have been talking about for the last 24 hours, flights returning for 110 thousand passengers overseas will cost about £6 million. Almost 1900 jobs have been lost at the luton based business and the Civil Aviation authority has stepped in to organise plans to bring home holiday makers will stop the government called it the biggest repatriations exercise in peace time. Day one went really well. We brought 12,000 people back yesterday. That was 61 flights. That was brilliant. Today, de two, we are planning to bring another 12,000. The first flight from the beether has landed already. Boris johnson will address the conservative Party Conference in london. He has been accused of undermining the Prime Minister on brexit. Earlier theresa may insisted the cabinet was united. Boris signed up to the florence speech, the whole cabinet signed up to the florence speech that i gave. It set out our vision for the future deep and special partnership we would have with the european union. Id think that has been an important contribution to the negotiations and debate. I have had positive responses from other european leaders on what i had said in that speech. Were all focused around the cabinet table on ensuring we get the best possible deal for the uk when we leave the european union. Lets speak to our Political Correspondent who was listening to the Prime Minister when she talked earlier on bbc breakfast. Still, the headline. We know that Boris Johnson is speaking today that he has not spoken yet and still headlines are made about him. Has not spoken yet and still headlines are made about himm has not spoken yet and still headlines are made about him. It is very striking that in conservative conferences very striking that in conservative co nfe re nces over very striking that in conservative conferences over the last ten years orso, conferences over the last ten years or so, when has not been a vast amount else going on, borisjohnson, in his antics and those frequent pictures of him wearing garish shorts on his morning run have tended to dominate the news. That has happened again this year. It is worth noting that in her first conversation with you around about an hourago, the conversation with you around about an hour ago, the Prime Minister said she didnt want a cabinet of yes man. She has repeated that line in subsequent interviews. She does not want it and has not got it. Borisjohnson will give his speech this afternoon but we dont know a vast amount of what will be in it. It is entitled let the lion roar. Downing street, i understand, have seen downing street, i understand, have seen the speech and said his 100 loyal to the Prime Minister. You can expect a line by line scrutiny of what mrjohnson says. Thats how this conference started and today thatis this conference started and today that is how it will end. Lots of scrutiny tomorrow over the Prime Ministers big speech as well. Scrutiny tomorrow over the Prime Ministers big speech as well. You will be there to listen carefully for us. He will not move a muscle. Elsewhere, catalans are going on strike today to protest against the violence marring the regions dependence referendum on sunday. Schools will close and hospitals will treat emergency cases. Barcelona Football Club is excited to ta ke barcelona Football Club is excited to take action as well for them over 90 of voters opted for independence but the poll was not recognised by the spanish government. 900 people needed medical attention after clashes with police over the weekend. The american rock musician tom petty has stifled he was 66 and it is believed he suffered a cardiac at his home in california. Tom petty has died. So many great songs. Best known for a string of hits with his band he was also part of the supergroup, travelling wilburys as well. Lows of tributes coming in. Loads of tributes. Nile rodgers wrote, tom petty, you and your art will not be forgotten. Jon bonjovi said, iam will not be forgotten. Jon bonjovi said, i am crushed and praying for those affected by las vegas last night. Another loss of one my great influences, tom petty, today many tributes coming from the Younger Generation of stars. Loads of people have been in touch. People like caroline saying, i am devastated by the loss of tom petty. I dont really know what to say. His music has influenced 70 parts of my life. When you hear those songs, you realise it has formed so many memories in growing up and important things that have happened around you. You want to sing along as well. Good morning. Lets talk about the story we have been talking about over the last 24 hours and the gunman who opened fire at the Country Music festival in las vegas killing at least 59 people. That is what we now know. It is the most deadly mass shooting in modern history. The attack has opened up debate about gun control in america. Joining us now in colorado is crystal, who survived the columbine massacre. Thank you for being with us this morning on bbc breakfast. What was it like you seeing and hearing and reading about what happened in las vegas yesterday . Did it bring back some horrible memories . It does. It always brings Something Back to my memory about what i survived nearly 20 years ago. It was 18 years to go in april and i read these accounts and hear these stories and watch the news. I am just absolutely devastated, heartbroken. I know in some way what the people here are going through. I know the long road they have ahead of them and that breaks my heart, just knowing now that they have a very long journey ahead of them. We talked about the issue of gun control. People are so entrenched in their views. Many people this morning saying it is not guns that kill people, it is people kill people. One of the men on stage yesterday playing guitar was saying, iam yesterday playing guitar was saying, i am writing to my parents and the love of my life goodbye last night a living will because i felt like i was not going to live through the night. That may be realise things we re night. That may be realise things were totally out of control was yesterday it was like incident changed his mind on gun control. I wonder if you think, in the light of columbine and sandyford and many other Mass Shootings in america, do you think enough will ever be enough and gun control will be taken seriously at some point . Honestly, i believe right now, the most important thing we can do is support the people who have gone through such a horrific tragedy to wrap our arms around them and show them support and love, just an outpouring from the whole world. I do believe that the conversation about stricter gun laws, about mental health, education and help for those struggling with those issues, those conversations definitely need to come. Ifeel like, again and conversations definitely need to come. I feel like, again and again, when this happens, all of a sudden this conversation comes back. We need to start bringing together both sides of this debate. When there is a tragedy we are facing, we are busy have a problem here in america and it needs to be addressed. I still believe that gun control is just one piece of a very huge issue. There is something much deeper. I do believe it isnt guns that kill people, it is people who kill people but gun control is a huge part of that and a conversation needs to happen. Something has to change quickly because this has to stop. Weinberger you said something really interesting in answer to the first question, about how long it will ta ke question, about how long it will take people in las vegas to process and get over what has happened. Do you feel you have compartmentalised from adult with what has happened to you and others are columbine . I do. It has almost been 18 years. I have gone through counselling. I have gone through counselling. I have had so many people walk with me through the tragedy that i experienced and i believe even now asa experienced and i believe even now as a survivor, i am a part of a club that none of us wish that we belong to and that none of us wish that we belong to and i even spoke with a friend who is a survivor of the shootings in las vegas. She was there and i told her, im not going anywhere. Journeyed with me and now its my turn to journey with you and i believe that that is part of my role is to come alongside these people and to say, there is hope. We will get through this. And i will continue to share my message both with other survivors, but also hope that we start to see less and less of these massacres take place here in america and around the world. . Really good to talk to you. Steve hewitt is a senior lecture at birmingham university. About an hour ago we spoke to somebody from the gun lobby. These are entrenched views. Do you think this could change things . No. Ithink it is clear just based on change things . No. Ithink it is clearjust based on past precedent that yes, the scale of this is a bit larger, but this has become such normalised violence. Just think about it, if it was only ten people that were killed, i wouldnt be sitting here talking to you now. The scale makes it different, but we had the sandy hook massacre where six year olds were killed and 20 of them killed in a school. They had them killed in a school. They had the orlando shooting last year, almost as high as the total last year. We had a democratic president when those two attacks occurred and who wanted to bring about stronger gun control, but ran up against congress and now we have Republican Controlled Congress and we have a republican president who is actively courted the nra, the National Rifle association. It just makes courted the nra, the National Rifle association. Itjust makes it very difficult for anything to change. Some of the statistics, it beggars belief when you read them. The New York Times were saying over 1. 5 million americans since 1968 have been killed by firearms which is 200,000 more than every american who has ever died in a battle in the countrys entire history on the battlefield . Countrys entire history on the battlefield . Yes, the scale is much greater than americans killed in a cts greater than americans killed in acts of terrorism as well and yet what gets more attention and coverage, disproportionately is an act of terrorism compared to normalised gun violence. Steve hewitt, thank you very much. Its hewitt, thank you very much. Its 8. 18am. Lets find out whats happening with the weather. Matt is with us. Good morning. A cool start to tuesday morning, bau fine autumn day in store for many. The overnight that was was in the English Channel has pushed its way into parts of europe. We have more cloud and it is that cloud which is produce the odd passing shower this morning. None lasting too long and none especially heavy, but a strong wind across the far north east of scotland and orkney and shetland in particular. Winds gale force here through a good pa rt winds gale force here through a good part of the day. The showers you do see will go smartly, a bit of sunshine in its wake. A few showers in north west england and maybe on the hills of western wales, but a good part of southern and eastern england. We started with the sunshine. A lovely morning here. A chilly start. Temperatures have been down in single figure, but on the rise with the sunshine overhead. Once you have got the sunshine on your back, it will feel all right. Once the cloud rolls in and there will be more cloud this afternoon at times it will feel cool in the breeze. Still one or two showers into the afternoon. Gun the same areas. into the afternoon. Gun the same areas. Again the same areas. Temperatures like yesterday, 13 to 17 celsius. The winds are that little bit lighter today so maybe not feeling too bad out there. Tonight, the wind picks up again. Parts of scotland and Northern Ireland and Northern England. Outbreaks of rain become lengthier in duration from northern scotland edging down into parts of central scotla nd edging down into parts of Central Scotland by the end of the night and temperatures dropping smartly. Could be down to two or three celsius in a few spots of northern scotland, southern and eastern england, but southern and eastern england, but southern areas dry through wednesday. Sunny spells. Sunny spells to northern scotland with a few passing showers, but strong winds. Its in between southern scotla nd winds. Its in between southern scotland and Northern England and Northern Ireland, always more cloud here and into the afternoon outbreaks of rain become more extensive and that little bit heavier and it will be a cool day. It turns wetter into the evening rush hour in the same zones. It is linked into a ripple on a weather front which will be straddling the uk. On the southern flank of that, strong winds. It could be a wild night across england and wales. Wednesday night into thursday morning, heavy rain around as well. That pushes out into thursday. Sunshine comes out. A few showers for the north and the east, sunny spells for many on thursday, but a chilly breeze, temperatures just 12 to 17 celsius. Youre right, thats chilly. Yesterday, we talked about monarch going into administration, affecting 350,000 bookings and nearly three quarters of a Million People, but 110,000 people trying to get back to the uk. Steve was talking about it yesterday and you have got more information. It is well under way the operation to get the 110,000 people back to the uk who are booked on Monarch Flights. It is run by the Civil Aviation authority. They said there were 61 flights yesterday. That brought home 12,000 people and today there will be another 58 flights. Some have landed this morning. So we are expecting another 12,000 back today. They are not rushing everyone home. So anyone who is still on their holiday, they have not been told to come back earlier or anything. Any flight you had booked, you will get a flight on that same day you were due to come back, however you might end up at a different airport, but they will bus you to where you need to be. That information again is on the monarch website thats been set up. Three Million People visited this yesterday. It was monarch. Caa. The other story is people who have flights from the uk. They have not been replaced and we chatted to some people who were hoping to travel about this. If you look at my phone i made 70 phone calls today to try and sort everything out. No one rang me from monarch or no one rang me from any other company. No e mails, nothing. It has been really frightening because the manager of the hotel, the Sales Manager called us into his office and he was calling everybody in one by one into the office and saying they wanted the office and saying they wanted the money. The money that monarch would be paying the hotel for our food and board, thats what we had to pay them. In hindsight we should have expected it because they had to borrow a lot of money, but it is a Large Company that you think it will go on forever. There are lots of people trying to work out how to get their money back for flights. The main thing is if you have a flight thats booked with them thats been cancelled, try and get that compensation back whether it is through your debit card companies, the bank with a debit card, there is paypal, some people paid with that or your insurance or if it is atol protected. The chief executive of monarch has been talking this morning. As you can imagine, he says he apologises. He says hes deaf staouted at the airlines collapse. He said it was a decision made on saturday night because of the losses they envisioned would be over £100 million. He said a lot was to do with the closure of some markets like turkey, tunisia and egypt. It makes you wonder given what has been happening with ryanair about the state of the industry and what the state of the industry and what the future is . There is lots of people asking that question, but those two airlines have very different problems. So it is not like they have got the same problem. Yes, there is a lot of airlines that had problems with the currency markets and the fact that a lot of the money they make will be in pounds, but they will be paying for costs in euros and dollars. But certainly, these issues that monarch had were a lot to do with the closure of certain lines that were their best ones, their most popular ones. Again closing the turkey, egypt, tunisia market and going into the spain market where there is a lot of competition, it drove down the prices. They were getting more passengers, but were struggling to make as much from it because of the price drops. Have you got many old pound coins knocking around . Have you got many old pound coins knocking around . I have a few on the side table that i need to get spent, dont i . Ijust like a spare few just in case you get a delivery or you want. I have got to dig around in the golf bag. The golf bag . For your tuck shop money. We have only got 13 days to sort this out and they are removed forever. For 30 yea rs we have they are removed forever. For 30 years we have been carrying our old one pointed pound coins ed purses and pockets, but after 30 days it must go. Tim muffett is live at the royal mint today. Good morning. Good morning. There is headgear and then there is royal mint headgear which comes complete with a fetching cape. The reason because they are next to some furnaces and they are pouring in tubs of old pound coins and they can sometimes spitfire out. Thats why im so protected. Yes, we are talking about the old pound coin, the round pound. There isjust 13 days left. Since march we have had the new pound coins, tubs here, £55,000 worth of old pound coins per tub. They are being poured in and people are encouraged to check behind the sofas and spend them whilst they can or dough thate them to charity instead. Thats another idea because beyond 15th october they will no longer be legal tender. So as well as producing all the coins we use in circulation here at the royal mint they dispose of them as well and this is the only place you are allowed to melt down coins. Im sure youre not surprised to hear. The furnaces have to be 1200 degrees celsius to work effectively. We will be talking to the team later about the change over. Here is the news, the weather and the travel where you are. Good morning. Not as windy as it was this time yesterday. We still have some gales in the far north east of scotland. The white lines are quite close together. Elsewhere High Pressure is moving its way in, making things quite settled. We will see plenty of fine and dry weather with sunshine. A bit of cloud in scotland, Northern Ireland, north west england and wales. A few showers around. The showers more compliant across scotland. A bit of cloud developing into the afternoon. For many a bus driver with bright sunny spells. Temperatures 13, 14 in the north and 17 in the south. It will feel quite chilly if exposed to the wind. More in a way of rain moving into the north of scotland gradually moving south. Windy conditions developing here overnight. Further south tribe with clear spells and it could turn quite chilly. For wednesday, quite clear spells and it could turn quite chilly. Forwednesday, quite windy weather, particularly across the north where there is rain moving its way southwards. To the south of that, dry with sunshine. To the north of that, it should clear up as well with sunny spells. Chilly in the far north and warmer further south. Going into thursday we have this low pressure system developing as it moves across the uk west to east. It will be bringing in some heavy rain for a time on thursday morning. That will clear away fairly quickly and well be left with a dry day with sunshine. Quite breezy conditions as well. Temperatures, 12, 13 in the north. Thursday, a largely dry and fine day with sunshine. Temperatures in the south east getting up to about 16 celsius. Windy weather on its way and heavy rain to come overnight thursday and friday.
