PANAMA CITY — Bay County has continued its month-long trend of spiking COVID-19 rates with a jump in new cases and hospitalizations in the past two weeks.
According to the Florida Department of Health in Bay County, the COVID-19 positive rate rose to 13.66% for the week of Dec. 12 from the 12.23% rate it had the week of Dec. 5. This increase follows a 0.84% rise in the rate two weeks earlier and a 2.4% jump four weeks ago.
To date, 190 residents with COVID-19 have died, up from 184 deaths last week.
Health department officials confirmed 855 new cases of COVID-19 for the past seven days and 1,426 cases the past 14 days. This comes after the county confirmed 1,284 cases two weeks earlier and 966 cases four weeks ago.
