Barstow's Christmas Cops and Kids toy drive delayed this year due to COVID-19

An event that has brought thousands of toys to children in the Barstow area for the past 24 years will be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In a Facebook post Thursday, the Barstow Police Department's Police Activities League said the Christmas Cops and Kids toy drive — traditionally held on Christmas Eve — would be postponed “in an effort to remain COVID compliant and ensure the community’s safety.”
“It is the mission of the Police Activities League to deliver a toy to every child in the Barstow area during the holiday season,” the statement read. “Although, this year, we are unable to fulfill this mission during the holiday season, we remain committed to the goal of delivering a toy to every child in the Barstow area when the time is appropriate.”
