The members of the American Waterways Operators, the national tugboat, towboat and barge industry association, elected a new slate of leaders last week during the association's Spring Board of Directors / Annual Membership Meeting.
Del Wilkins, President of Illinois Marine Towing, Inc., was elected Chairman; Clark Todd, President & Chief Operating Officer of Blessey Marine Services, was elected Vice Chairman; and Brian Hughes, Vice President Operations & Sales, Hughes Bros., Inc. was elected Treasurer. Wilkins succeeds outgoing Chairman Arthur F. Mead, Vice President & Chief Counsel, Crowley Maritime Corporation.
AWO President & CEO Jennifer Carpenter laid out a hopeful vision after a year of challenge for the industry: "And now we look forward – with confidence, because we know our strength and our resilience in the face of adversity; with optimism, because we're hopeful that the worst of the pandemic and the market disruption it wrought is behind us; with gratitude for the community that supported us through it; and with excitement because we're not going back to normal, we're moving forward to better, and there is so much for us to tackle together."
