The Atlanta City Council says it’s cracking down on what it calls “nuisance properties.” Specifically, restaurants that have been masquerading as nightclubs, according to District 11 Councilwoman Marci Collier-Overstreet.
She told WABE’s “All Things Considered” host Jim Burress that several restaurants with late-night alcohol servings and overcrowding have led to constant fights and parking lot shootings.
One of those venues at the center of hundreds of police calls over the last few years is Deja Vu Sports Bar and Lounge — also called The VOO 2 — on Campbellton Road. Collier-Overstreet says this “nuisance property” is just a block away from Kimberly Elementary School and Therrell High School.
