Mary Louise Whitsell

Mary Louise Whitsell, the daughter of Frank and Margaret, was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 17, 1948 and lived in Michigan for the early years of her life. When her Dad was transferred to the New York City office of UniRoyal Tire Company, the family moved to Ramsey, New Jersey. Mary attended St. Luke’s High School and eventually moved out to California where she was Operations Manager at Levi Strauss for over 20 years. Mary loved her family and when she retired, she chose to return to the east coast to be near to them. She was delighted when she found the house and property on Dederich Road. She loved her house and took great pride not only in decorating the inside but also mowing her over one acre of yard, working in her garden, swimming in her pool, and raking leaves in the fall. When Mary discovered the park in Greenville, she walked her dogs on the various trails almost daily - for at least 2 miles each day in the rain as well as the sun. Her favorite activity was snowshoeing and a winter with little snow was not appreciated! Mary was an avid reader and constantly picked up a new stack of books as she dropped off the old ones. As a young girl, Mary loved to dress up and dance - a prelude to her involvement in both Line and Irish Set Dancing. We, her brother, Frank; sister, Susan; sister-in-law, Jody; two nephews, Jesse and Chris, and niece-in-law, Mackenzie, will miss her dearly.
